Marc stendera, Any interest in this young German footballer? Exciting prospect?

{Ed002's Note - Asking about random players the club has no interest in will always end up with a disappointing no.}

Is he Belgian???

Neville may have said that LVG deserves time but do you really believe that's what he thinks? I find the timing more than dodgy.

Don't you remember the uproar Neville caused with his "pub football" comment and LVG snapping back. I think Mr. Neville is taking a bit of guidance about keeping options open and not causing unnecessary enemies at the club he may well end up managing in the future.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, Scholes is calling it how it is as far as I'm concerned. Others are simply looking out for their future and being more "savvy" with their recent comments.

Remember Scholes didn't court the media during his playing career, you can't accuse him of being attention seeking now just because his view doesn't go along with the normal PC crap. He is providing his honest account of how things are, anything anybody says who has an interest in being "liked" for their future careers in football I take their views as I would any politicians.

Gary Neville December 2013

"My view is simple: David Moyes deserves to have the same period of time that every Manchester United manager has had"

He is merely expressing a similar view now

I think gaz is quite a smart chao and he's allowed to change his opinion. Part of his job as both pundit and England coach is to watch games and review them. Maybe he's seen something to change his opinion. i'd also far rather have neville as a future manager than giggs. Without stepping too much into that topic I think giggs needs to go away and have a bash at being a manager rather sitting there every game looking bored for 90 minutes.

As for Scholes, he's a great bloke and sure he's allowed an opinion, but at the moment we need to focus on the job at hand pull together and get the job done. There's plenty of time been may and august for criticism or even an inquest and I feel that end of season is a better time.

Like him or not I can't see van gaal leaving before may

It's all if's buts and maybes. I just thought it was worth pointing out that Neville may have used his recent article to mend bridges, all may not be as it seems. I haven't seen anything different in recent games to be honest, but other people may have.

Anyway I'm changing my demeanour now to hoping to being impressed, from expecting to be impressed.

I think you have it wrong or are delving too far into this, Beast. Gary Neville was asked on Twitter about his so called fall out with LvG straight after that pub football comment and the response from LvG's press conference - he said there is nothing to it and it was only the media (As it's made you believe they fell out too).

Gary Neville always sticks by managers and has always expressed that he feels Managers are sacked far too easily and deserve more time, whether that be the Manchester United manager or not.

06 Mar 2015 16:23:03
Hard to say if he is trying to build bridges or not. But if I was in charge I would want him to be involved within the coaching staff.

Agree Fresh. I think GN is the most astute of all of the fergie fledglings.
Re Paul Scholes, it just seems strange that he never used to give interviews and for the past two years, he's never out of the news.
I'm sure Scholes and all the others can tell LVG how to manage and pick the team etc, but LVG is the manager now and we have 10 important games in the PL, so we need to be concentrating on the job in hand.
Non of us know if Giggs, Scholes or GN will be good managers, what we do know is that LVG has been a very successful manager, so if we can just give him till the end of this year, then we can look at the situation again.

Love the way people talk about Gary Neville, he's a good pundit but at the moment that's it and there's a world of difference between being a pundit and a manager if a top club .
As for Scholes, world class as a player, bog standard as a pundit, nothing to say but the same old footballer cliches .
A big problem I have with the whole Class of 92 is that they paint this picture of everything being perfect until SAF left and then it all went wrong . Nothing about the players he signed to replace Vidic, Ferdinand etc not being up to it .
Nothing about being left with a central midfield that included Cleverley and Anderson .
Nothing about the fact that the football at times in Fergie's last few years was more functional than exciting and they all seem to forget the Djemba Djemba years in the mid 2,000's when we were pretty ordinary as Fergie tried to rebuild

I would have to agree with scholes 100%, the manager is not suited to the premier league, I was all for Herrera to start but he gets knocked of the ball very easy, he needs to bulk up, the longer the season goes on and I hope for united players to improve, it's not happening, we can say this and that but no improvement worst it's getting, Newcastle had a stone ball penalty and we poxed a goal and the manager says it's the best we played all season, I hope he goes, it's plain to be seen that giggs is not happy but is too nice to say anything, we were trying to score and he brings on carrick instead I'd an attacking player, it's a joke, all our ex players can see it and their not whining they just want united to win and play attacking football

Agree4 Disagree4

06 Mar 2015 22:11:38
What I like about Scholes is that during his career he kept his head down and his mouth shut for the best part of 20 odd years and now he has retired he is expressing his views mainly as a fan in a retrospective setting. He has a footballing brain with more intellect than any of us so to slam him as a 'Cretin' below is laughable.

As far as GNev is concerned I didn't like him as a pundit at first but he has grown on me. I think when he started with the media he called it as he saw it but that has mellowed down in the last few years because he understands he has responsibilites and his career to protect. I think Neville will happily let LVG see out this season but if we play like we are at the momnet next year he will be the first guy on his back.

I've been getting worked up a lot this season about performances, how certain players are acting and Phil Ospohy's decisions.

However I've decided to just try and enjoy the rest of this season, we will probably have a lot of crazy results, scares and hopefully celebrations.

I started to watch football for enjoyment and recently it hasn't really been that way (Since Fergie left). I think we will get top 4 and I would absolutely love us to get into the FA cup final too, it's not in our nature to not win something in a season!

Just thought I'd make this post to try and remind those of you who are getting worked up by the results/performances. We all love this club and maybe we should just try to enjoy the game for what it is.

Bring on the gunners Monday, confident about this one as those Londoners always seem to roll over and let us win.

Have a good Friday and weekend guys!

Far too sensible Weggy, you need to get with the Programme. LVG out!

Love the play on the name I think it might stick. I can almost imagine the players referring to him as Phil

Beating Arsenal on Monday could be a spring board to bigger and better things. We tend to find a way against Arsenal and I very much expect to see our name in the hat for the semi's.

06 Mar 2015 13:24:21
I enjoyed Newcastle far more than I have any other game. We didn't play particularly well of course, but my own personal expectations have now reduced so I am sure I will enjoy games more. It should be the other way with performances heightening enjoyment, but I'm prepared to give a little for the club I love.

I just hope we have a good summer and come back better next season hopefully in the CL.

06 Mar 2015 13:42:50
Beast I think things will be much better next season.

I honestly think van gaal was too optimistic at the start with his 3 months talk and all the rest of it. And the mega spend made some people over expectant.

Whilst performances haven't been what we have wished a lot of change has gone on behind the scenes and change takes time.

Beast,

I think this summer is going to be a surprise for a lot of us. I see many leaving and many coming in. LVG has had a year now, so he should be ready to make these decisions.

I would not be surprised to see £150 million+ spent this year round.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Mar 2015 14:25:59
Yes I think we will see more incoming and outgoing than ever before. So many contracts or squad level players run out in 2016 as well so I think there will be a lot of surprises and I can't wait for next season to start.

I just want to skulk off for 5 months and see we have sneaked 4th place!

06 Mar 2015 17:49:09
Excellent post Weggy. We can only wait and see how the team does between now and the end of season. I for one am quite positive that it will go to the wire, so we have to take each game as it comes and see what happens. Injuries, circumstance, luck, loss of form will all play a part, so nothing is certain.

Spurs (H) - Have to win this one as they are direct competitors - 3 Points
Liverpool (A) - This is going to be difficult given their form, would take a draw but for arguments sake let's say we lose this one - 0 Points
Villa (H) - They are battling relegation and will come hard at us for their survival but we need 3 points here - 3 Points
Man City (H) - Tricky game again, we need a win but I am not sure that we can get it. I say a draw - 1 Point
Chelsea (A) - let's say we lose this one - 0 Points
Everton (A) - They are in bad form and we just cannot drop points here - 3 Points
West Brom (H) - Need 3 points here - 3 Points
Palace (A) - Tricky game as they have rejuvenated under Pardew and our away form hasn't been great but they could have hit safety by that time and might get a bit complacent, would take a win or draw - 1 Point
Arsenal (H) - At home we will have to beat our top 4 rivals - 3 Points
Hull (A) - Need 3 points here - 3 Points

That's 20 points which will take our total to 73 points.
10 games - 6 wins - 2 draws - 2 losses

Will this be enough for top 4? We need to make sure we win against Spurs and Arsenal at OT and even a draw at Anfield would be a good result.

What do you guys think? What results do you predict for these games? How many points can we get?

(Banter please ED)

I agree with you're predictions. However we cannot guess anything, for all we know we could beat City and Chelsea and lose the rest of those games.

Hopefully that is the outcome, however never going to predict a loss against the scouse, NEVER!

I've done this a lot throughout the years and as we all know football surprises us :)

06 Mar 2015 13:07:29
MB I would be more than happy if results went that way!

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 07:24:32
I'd say we beat Scousers. United always bring their A game in the big matches.
Someone just reminded me of the spurs game and now I recall how we dominated them and the next weekend spurs beat Chelsea.
I think we will draw the Chelsea game, Mourinho often plays for a draw against big clubs.
Liverpool is arguably our most tricky tie and I think we would beat them.

06 Mar 2015 09:01:16
We are always able to get the better of Arsenal and let's hope that continues on Monday as well.

More importantly this win would give us some much needed momentum and confidence going into our tough run of fixtures.

Just a comment on the Giggs/LVG celebration on camera. If anyone has it recorded, go back and watch our goal against Swansea about two weeks ago - similar disinterest/ignoring of LVG from Giggs right after the goal. I mentioned it to mmy mate after and we both thought it was odd
