One of the best European nights, with a depleted squad, youth, away at one of the CL faves to win like that, welcome back United, so proud of them. It was like it was scripted, Ole managed that leg so well.
Brave taking Bailly off and introducing Chong and Greenwood.
Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, Fred and McTominay was immense. I know he made mistakes but Dalot I like a lot. Hats off to RedRom who is lethal atm and the nerve of Rashford to take that penalty.
Unbelievable.

The only caveat I would add to that WRD is a) Bailly might not have been taken off if he had not been hurt in a tackle so it may have forced Ole's hand b) it was a risk to play Bailly almost as a right back for the first time and against a class player like De Maria. We were lucky they did not exploit that side more as Bailly was not comfortable there all night and c) neymar and cavani would have made a huge difference to their team and even if we had a full squad to pick from I doubt we would have beaten PSG with those two playing. Still lady luck often favours the brave and Ole and the team were certainly that.

Agree with you. Fantastic and we have taken a lot of people by surprise given our depleted squad and first leg deficit.

I myself expected us to put up a very good performance given our away form and provided that Ole and his coaching staff would be looking to prove a point after things went wrong in the first leg, especially with the injuries to key players. But to go on and win the tie away with such an assured performance and great team work was really the icing on the cake.

Special mention to Lukaku, since returning back into the first team, he looks hungrier and seems to be growing into his role more and more and scoring crucial goals - many have been critical of him, including me, but credit to him for what he has been doing of late (could have had 2 hat tricks in subsequent matches) . That penalty was so crucial and Rashford showed great calmness in the situation to put it in the back of the net.

Ole is putting his trust in his players and the players likewise are responding splendidly. And after this performance, Ole deserves the job more so than ever before. Delighted for Ole, his coaching staff and all the players for bringing the smiles back at United.

Hendon, Neymar and Cavani would have helped them, bu then Pogba, Matic, Herrera, Lingard, and Martial would have helped us. Just enjoy the win.

Agree6 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 14:19:40
Hendon, di Maria and Draxler were two of their best players last night also. Do you think they'd have had the same effect with Neymar and Cavani on? It's all hypotheticals, but regardless of their team, to beat them with a midfield of Young, McTom, Fred and Pereira is ludicrous.

Super result, and guys Fred did well.

06 Mar 2019 23:01:35
Best game I have seen Fred play for us. He harassed them all night defensively. And when Bernat tried to disturb Rashford before the penalty, it was Fred who stepped right in and confronted him. Ole has made every player feel important when he steps on the pitch.

Agree6 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 23:34:19
So proud of our club tonight. I think Fred showed us that there is potential, very happy for Rom.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 00:11:06
Watching Fred in the last couple of games, I was really worried about him today and didn't expect much. But that was a really good performance from him. He might go unappreciated today as there were plenty of good performers. But the way he worked his socks off the whole game and looked so much more confident on the ball. His one two touch passing and moving was good to see and if we managed to have more of the ball then definitely he would have been involved even more in our offensive play. It was reminiscent of watching lindelof last season when he was doing well in European games but was still adjusting to the PL.
On a side note it would be really harsh to say Bailey had a bad game. He had not played for sometime and was playing out of position and our whole defense looked shaky in a back 3. Di Maria and Bernat were really good on that side and Bailey wasn't getting proper support then.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 04:27:13
Yeah everyone has been critical of Fred.
But hats off to him, he played like a lion.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 22:46:18
I said it before we needed to be brave and we needed to be clinical. Lukaku was brilliant tonight, and the stones on Rashford to take that pen.

Once bailly went off we defended really well, it's a shame but it was a good move from ole to get him off. Smalling and lindelof were super and when called upon Dave was there (gave me a damn heart attack when he punched that ball) .

This is the greatest football club in the world.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

07 Mar 2019 04:28:43
Bailly is short of confidence. He is not sensing the danger.
Hopefully he too can turn it around like many have done.

07 Mar 2019 09:13:03
Thing with bailly is he is liability I love the guy his no nonsense not giving a monkey's attitude when defending is top

But there is something that makes me nervous when he's playing.

Smalling was man of the match for me tonight close run thing with shaw fred and lukaku. But its hard to single anybody. With 10 players out and to claw back a 2 nil deficit and be flying in the league is a superb managerial performance.
Full credit to all the coaching staff to the manager and pretty much every player in the squad.
Our best players are playing very well and our lesser talented players are playing above themselves. Ole has them believing anything and everything us possible.
He has been nearly foot perfect since the day he started. He oozes class in every aspect of the job so far.

No jred they are playing above themselves. don't be naive.
If that team played psg 10 times they would lose 8 or 9 in all probability.
To win the league we need 3 or 4 more players.
We know the squad we have were 2nd but 2nd is not what we want.

I seen fergie was beside Woodward in the stand. I'm sure he was analysing oles tactics! Well if he doesn't get the job full time I worry for r club! As lucky and as depleted as we where! I think he's made good and big calls tonight that changed the game.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

07 Mar 2019 04:37:54
I think Ole (and the staff) have shown everyone what they are capable of. I doubt anyone could have auditioned for the job more convincingly. If he does not get the job now then it was a foregone conclusion that he was never going to get it.

Well done to everyone tonight the players, coaches and Ole. What a great great win against the odds. This is what we all have come to expect from United. Win lose or draw It’s great to see that spirit back. Finally.

What a glorious European night. I'm thrilled for Lukaku and Rashford to come up big when it counted. Lukaku has endured a lot of criticism and now look at him the last three games. And Marcus Rashford, imagine Gianluigi Buffon looking at you with the game on the line. What a moment for the young man.

A word too for the defense. Lindelof was solid again, Smalling and Young came up with some very big stops, and Shaw was the one player more than any other that drove the team in the final minutes. As well as De Gea stopping Mbappe's breakaway with Smalling.

This evening will have been an unforgettable experience for the youngsters - McTominay, Pereira, Dalot and especially Chong and Greenwood. Just being on the pitch to be part of that moment when Rashford scores and to give every ounce they had until the final whistle.

Hats off to Ole and Phelan, Carrick, and McKenna. We have seen player after player playing with confidence again. Bot tonight was another level. They have the players playing with enormous pride again in playing for Manchester United. And what a gift to all of us fans.

You know what, well done.

Even if it is united, with the bench they had today, and the injuries, they did well.

5:4:1 after the disallowed goal was a good decision, we looked dangerous every time we went forward before that but opened up at the back. great game management though and the scenes at full time were a pipe dream three months ago. It really feels like an ethos has been rediscovered, youth players playing in big games, nail biting excitement, never say die attitude, this is united.

Irish, he may have had his back towards the ball, but as it was struck he saw what was happening and put his arm out. I agree it was not a penalty, but he gave the ref a reason to look. Great for us, remember NANI been sent off when he should not have been, so its just the rough with the smooth.

This probably won't be a popular opinion on here, but my take on tonight's game.

Baring a collosal collapse by a very good PSG team at their own ground, we have near enough no chance of qualification. To have to beat PSG 0-3 is a big ask especially considering our injury depleted squad. To me, the weekends game against Arsenal is massive for our top 4 chances this season, and that game should be the priority now. We're not good enough to win the CL at the moment, qualification for next year is vital in terms or finance and bringing in top quality players, so that should be the focus this week.

For that reason I wouldn't be risking anyone who's not 100% fit, or just come back from injury. I'd give a few of the youngsters a go, get some experience of European football and just see what they can do. I'd rather keep the likes of Rashford fit and rested for Sunday's massive game away at Arsenal.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

06 Mar 2019 15:42:03
0-2 forces extra time, 1-3 we go through on away goals. It is a huge ask but surely this is what football is all about? The Arsenal game will look after itself. We're away on a European night against a really good team, but there's still a chance.

Why put so much emphasis on getting into the top 4, if we're going to give up when it gets a little hairy? You try and win every game, there is no in between.

Agree8 Disagree2

06 Mar 2019 15:56:02
I have to agree with Mumbles, nothing to suggest we won't win Sunday if we put a good team out tonight, or as good as we have available.

I'll be honest I would love to see Greenwood and Rashford either side of Lukaku, I think we would scare them to death in behind, Greenwood would have nothing to lose and who knows. Have a feeling he might not take that option though and play Dalot on the right, he changed the game on Saturday when he came on and deserves a chance up that right wing, we haven't had a player who can take a man on with pace, get to the byline and put in a good cross for quite a long time and Dalot does that.

Either way I am excited about how good some of our youngsters are, if only Ronnie was still here to enjoy it.

Agree5 Disagree2

06 Mar 2019 16:32:04
One of the great traits sir alex had was his belief in the team he sent out in every game. He always thought he could win. I hope Ole adopts this also. Sure the odds are against us but go out and give it everything. Last year against Sevilla was gut wrenching. i don't want to see that level of performance ever ever again. If we do lose i'm hoping for a spirited performance at least. the shirt demands that much.

Gds been saying it all weekend. Mason Greenwood would be perfect for tonight. The boy is special and I'd imagine that PSG wouldn't know much about him.

I doubt we will see it but I'd love for it to happen.

Agree with mumbles, go out on your shield tonight. Arsenals game will take care of itself come Monday. I highly doubt that if sir Alex were there today he'd be saying 'Alright lads, let's rest a few for tonight's champs league knockout game for the Arsenal on Sunday' not on your nelly.

Go for it lads and continue doing the fans proud. Come on United!

I think that to a certain degree ole's hands are tied but i don't think for one second he won't think we can win it. Let utd just have a go at them and if psg score two we may see the likes of chong, garner, greenwood early in second half. I believe utd will start quickly and try and get a quick goal to see how psg mentally cope.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 17:43:01
Do you think our chances of getting a result in the Arsenal game are better if we win against PSG or if we lose heavily?

If we play the kids and get spanked 3 or 4 nil then how does that effect the mental state of our players ahead of Arsenal? How does it effect the mental states of the young players? Gibbs at Arsenal looked a quality player until he had a mare against us. After that he seemed to play with doubt.

Conversely imagine if we win, we turn the tie around go to Paris and beat the seemingly superior PSG team, and we do so without our best player and a raft of others who are injured. How might that effect the confidence and mentality of our players ahead of the Arsenal game?

I don't think we can afford to take anything for granted, and I don't think we should throw away our place in the competition we are fighting so hard to be a part of for next season.

Youngsters will have to play some part no doubt, and hopefully we can see something similar to what we did with Rashford a few seasons ago where some kid steps on to the pitch on a big European night and they start writing their own history with the club.

Maybe tonight is where Greenwood shows that Mbappe isn't the only future Balon d'Or winner on the pitch tonight. let's hope, and we can, that is what Ole has restored more than anything else. We know we are up against a seemingly impossible task, but with Ole there at least seems to be some hope that we can beat the odds.

I bet it was those pesky grandkids supporting Wednesday that United fans had to pull to safety that were to blame!}

They certainly do have a history and not a good one. Doesn't look as if they have learned the lessons of the 80s at all. I'm too young to remember the miners strike but I come from a mining family so heard all the stories. I was always under the impression that extra police were buses in from different areas because Thatcher didn't trust the local plod to beat up their own neighbours and relatives. People I've spoken to around here swear blind it was the Met that were doing the baton charges and dragging miners out the picket lines. I guy I knew from Ebbw Vale said that down there it was the police from Glasgow. Not ever seen anything official on either of those but hardly surprising.
