Hi guys,

Who has been closely watching Angelo Henriquez? He's in phenomenal form and I think we should recall him from loan and loan Wilson!
Also, What's the situation with nick Powell ? He seems not to be playing!

Share your thoughts guys!
Thanks Ed

How can anybody closely watch him when he plays in the croation league? we all no the same as you, yes he's banging them in but i'm pretty sure if you put james wilson on loan out there he'd do exactly the same.

Agree1 Disagree1

1980, are you saying the Croatian league cannot be closely watched? That's harsh mate!

Loan Wilson? Are you serious?

Maybe instead of watching the Croatian league closely you should watch our own under 21 league (which I imagine will be of a higher standard) and see that Wilson is well ahead of where Henriquez was at the same age in that league.

There is a reason Henriquez is playing in the Croatian league and Wilson is getting game time (even though he is 3 years younger) in our 2 biggest games of the season so far.

I think Henriquez has potential (although admittedly not seen him at all this season, maybe you can tell me where I can study the Croatian league?), but Wilson has more potential, so I think they are in the correct places at the moment.

Interesting that you have suddenly been watching him closely the week that their is news in the papers about him and his agent saying he wants to stay.

I hope you guys do know utd fans are not limited to the UK only, for all we know Alamin may live in Croatia. Just a shared thought. :)

Can anyone tell me what's happened to Tyler Blackett? Is he injured?
Ive heard absolutely nothing about him since he was red carded.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Rojo has played in that LCB position since then and quite frankly hasn't really performed any better than Blackett.

Only advantage Rojo has over Blackett is pace other than that i'd prefer Blackett over him.

Agree1 Disagree4

Yes but where is he. why isn't he being picked considering our injuries?

Blackett is doing really well. Except some mistake vs leiscter. He was brilliant with his distribution and on the ball skill. Lvg physophy???? To drop player after mistake?? Than his wish child persie need to stay out for now.
Blackett can grow a lot as he is already solid physically

Agree0 Disagree3

Rodio17 - So are you saying he's fit but juts not being picked?
If so that is ridiculious considering the problems that we have at the back.

Van gaal prefers to play centre backs with opposing feet, 1 dominantly right footed and 1 dominantly left footed rather than playing 2 leftys together.

Smalling, Jones and McNair are the rightys
Evans, Rojo and Blackett are the leftys.

Think that shows we'll be in the market for one if each and Smalling and Evans should be sweating.

Simmo,

He has been on the bench for previous games as Rojo has been preferred in his position. At the weekend Smalling and Rojo was the central defensive partnership and I presume as Smalling is likely to get injured every time he plays McNair was chosen as the centre back on the bench.

I would expect Blackett will start on Saturday, unless LVG decides on Carrick and McNair after they performed well against city.

Think you'll find Evans is right footed.

Agree5 Disagree0

Surely he's got to go with Blackett and Evans who is back for Saturdays game. I think that would be the srongest partnership we can put out at the moment.

Evans is definitely right footed.

Perhaps we could ask Johnny which foot he thinks is the best? It's touch and go if you ask me.

Agree1 Disagree1

You people are over-hyping Blackett. He was ok in the games he played.
Rodio, sorry mate i disagree with the distribution bit. I think both have to improve their distribution accuracy and sense. I must add though that a LB Rojo had decent distribution. Personally I prefer Paddy to Tyler.
The coach should look at the opposition before picking his CB's. Blackett is tall and can challenge in the air but is "smallingesque" on the ground, Mcnair reminds me of Cannavaro and can be used to mark people with Aguero's style of play. This is just my opinion, I am no expert, so guys please be gentle ;)

I hope the reason McNair was picked ahead of Tyler was down to Valencia being right back. If Valencia didn't perform Smalling could move across with McNair covering. Rojo can do the same for the left, but Shaw is going to be more reliable than Valencia in the full back role.

LVG did the maths imo.

I prefer Blackett from the bits we have seen, especially against weaker opposition as he looks calm and composed on the ball - Blackett should play against Palace as he was stand out pre-season and virtually all games he played before Leicester sending off. McNair has done ok, but haven't seen enough to be making decisions, he was at fault for the goal as well which people are avoiding because he is young.

Any thoughts on NANI??

He has been playing consistently well for Lisbon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he needed to get away. He would be a better squad member that Young but I still doubt that he has much of a future.

Agree2 Disagree1

The only way I see Nani returning next year is if we have CL football and do move towards a 433 system.
Getting away from MU for a bit may have inspired him a bit and if LVG thinks there is something there I would not object to his return in a bigger squad.
I would hope though that we also bring in another flying winger to play either side of our front player Quadrado/Reus/Bale etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's playing well in a poorer league where you get more time on the ball. Whilst I believe him to be a far superior footballer to Young, he would not be a better squad player to have, he needs to play consistently to have any remote semblance of form!

Maybe Lisbon is his level. he's shown nothing over the last four years that suggests he has a future at united.

Agree3 Disagree1

Nani is a bundle of inconsistent frustration. But I still love the arrogance of the 'Sporting is his level' comments. I hope the irony of dismissing a club competing in the CL as being at a lower level than us, at a time when we're twiddling our thumbs during the week and trying to organise lucrative friendlies in the Middle East, isn't lost on people.

Agree6 Disagree3

Nicely said Danny. Though this arrogance is not unjustified.

Agree1 Disagree0

mbd

I don't see any reason why supporters of a team that finished 7th last season and is currently 10th have any justification for arrogance. If people want to pretend that we're still at the same level of the likes of Madrid and Bayern because we have 'history' and can spend a lot of money, then go ahead. But the truth is that we have nothing to boast about or Lord over the likes of Sporting.

Danny its got nowt to do with the champions league. Is the Portuguese league classed as a top league comparable to the English? No.

Nani looked good in Portugal before we signed him and he's looked good in Portugal since we loaned him back. But apart from a few games he's been poor in England. That suggests he can handle Portugal but can't handle the step up to the quality in the English league.

Agree5 Disagree2

Danny

I believe Mangala was a great defender in the same league. So good that we were praying for his Signature. .

How has that turned out for rubbishty?

Some players cannot adjust to the Climate, Tempo & mostly the expectation that comes with joining a league winning team. I remember A. Cole playing superb for Newcastle before joining us and becoming a shadow of his former self. So keep Nani in Portugal.

Red devil fan, how on earth do you come to the conclusion Cole became a shadow of his former self at United after newcastle?

Agree1 Disagree0

We may not have had the best of seasons till now but we did have a hell of a preseason and we beat big clubs convincingly! Inter, Lpool, Madrid and Roma.

Agree0 Disagree0

mbd

FFS it has nothing to do with individual players looking good in 'weaker' leagues, it's about the attitude that fans of a team in tenth place in the EPL honestly believe that playing for a team currently playing in the CL is a step down. That's just completely unjustified arrogance based on the fact that we're in a more competitive league, we've a successful history, and we have spent a lot of money.

One of the most important things Roy Keane said recently was that the attitude United had in his time was 'you're only as successful as your current form'. When a club starts resting on its past success, it can only go downhill. It happened Liverpool in the early 90s and they have yet to recover. For years I have seen Liverpool fans boast about their history and Arsenal fans boast about their invincibles as a means of pretending that they were still up with the biggest and best clubs in the world. It's embarrassing to see United fans with unwarranted inflated opinions of the club scoffing at clubs like Sporting while failing to recognise that a club with our recent form is simply no longer a big club in anything but a cosmetic sense. Imagine if West Brom fans were thinking the same thing?

When we get back to winning stuff people can start talking about lesser clubs and leagues being player x's level. But while we languish midtable playing poorly, pipe down because it's pathetic.

Agree0 Disagree3

Your talking rubbish Danny. Nani is a player most people on here have wanted sold for two or three years because of continued poor or inconsistent performances for united both domestically and in Europe. Now he's had a quarter of a good season for sporting he's suddenly good enough to come back.

Its got nothing to do with sporting being in he champions league and united not. Its simple fact that the English league is considered one of the strongest in Europe and the Portuguese is not.
