Wesley Sneijder will not sign for United in January.

The reason why is because SAF already has a squad that is good enough ton with the premier league and the F.A. Cup. We do not need Sneijder to help us win these 2 trophies.

What we need Sneijder for is to help us win the champions league.

Now, if Sneijder is signed in January... He won't be able to play in the champions league for the rest of that season because he has already featured in the champions league for Inter Milan.

Can anyone really see Alex Ferguson sheding out £35 million on a player that he can't use in the competition he needs him for?

Maybe next summer (if City don't snap him up) we'll go back in for him again but we certainly won't be going for him in January.

In January we will only go for a player if one is sold or has a long term injury where he can't play for the rest of the season. If Carrick or Fletcher is sold the player Alex Ferguson wants to replace them is Nicolas Guitan from Benfica. He is a 23 year old attacking midfielder and he had a good game when we played against them in the champions league.

Percy not slating evans. I like his passing qualities..but on your heart you see him a mainstay in our centre. He gets pushed of the ball too easy..i'm all for believing in our players. But sometimes like forlan it isn't enough cons red

So I was wondering. A lot has been said about our midfield as of late. However if you were to decide between Schweinsteiger and Modric who would you pick?
Schweinsteiger - Tall and strong so he brings a physical presence. His passing is very good and is brilliant doe set pieces. He sits deep and does not do a lot of running. He is a leader.
Or
Modric - Small skillful player, a lot more creativity in his play and premier league experience. Not as good as defending and does not seem to be a natural leader on the pitch. Always available for a pass and has a good corner kick.

So would you want to work with someone like Fletcher or Anderson who does a lot of running and likes to get forward like Cleverley. Who would sut the Man Utd way more?

The Red Manc
Agree for Modric
Disagree for Schweinsteiger
Or comment on who and why please lol

Based on having a think about things and how SAF thinks and works. I'm not saying that this WILL happen, but I think ideally this is how SAF would like us to go.

In defence we are well stocked, and after thinking about it I feel I have been too hasty in condemming Rio Ferdinand. He will be good experience and he is still a value member of the squad. So i don't think CB is an issue at all. LB may become an issue however, I think its interesting that Izaguirre rumours of gone quiet, even though he is injured you'd think there would be some gossip. He went public with our interest so i think that he might have blown it...hopefully not however.

Midfield wise I think the two players that SAF wants are at Spurs, he put in a bid for Bale at the end of 2010 summer and I think when the europhorea dies down we will go back in for him. If we have him then he is good cover for Left back if we keep Evra. However i think SAF wants a LB AND Bale. We will be short of proper left footed wingers when Giggs and Park leave which is bound to be soon. Modric is the other man, i've heard that Carrick or Berbatov could be used in a deal for him, SAF won't be drawn into a bidding war and I don't think that there will be one as Chelsea's interest has dropped. Possibly Rodwell or Javi Garcia could make an appearence in a United shirt soon - this depends on departures of course, with Gibson and Carrick gone then I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them in. Barkley and Iturbe will be ones to watch for a later date.

Up top Berbatov and Owen will likely leave thats fairly straightforward. Replacing them however isn't as easy. All our strikers need game time along side Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez being the main men need ample playing time so a big name signing wouldn't be suitible. The rumours about Wolfswinkel seems to ring true to me and I wouldn't be opposed to his signing.

I dont understand why people want a attacking midfielder, when we play rooney behind chicha/welbeck?

I know we have nobody to replace rooney when he is out. But i cant see the sense in buying an out and out attacking midfielder. I think it would make sense for us to buy a defensive midfielder which would allow anderson and cleverley to move more forward in the 2 centre mids we play.

The reason this discussion started was because one of your fellow Liverpool fans mentioned Nani. I was just amazed that a Liverpool fan could slag off Nani, when Suarez is one of the worst in the game for diving.

Sydney!

----------------------------------------------

The divings not the issue Sydney, its part of football especially with some of the Europeans and South Americans. Its Nani having a little cry because his leg was hurting after a tackle.

Sydney i understand that liverpool fans will always have opinions on MUFC players and vice versa but you seem very focused on Suarez and the tackle he recieved should we not be focusing on the fact of the rather mentally ill EFC fans hurling missiles at players and ruining the enjoyment for the fans... YES Suarez made a meal of it but like you say so has Ronaldo and Nani, but sadly its just the way the game has gone, i'd rather focus on the fans using their head because if any liverpool fans threw items that could maim or even kill a United player when we next play i would feel very let down by the LFC fans

'Ozone'

Sir Matt Busby never learned his trade at Liverpool, he had a brief spell at your club during the 30's when you were a mid-table club just like now. He never joined you until he was 27/28.

Your best teams were built with cash Ozone, in the 70s/80s Liverpool had the most cash. Nowadays we have the most cash, but it's still a level playing field because we are using our own revenue to buy players, just like yourselves. It's City & Chelsea who have bought success, not Liverpool or United.

Only 8 more sleeps until united are welcomed to Anfield,
and that is where you will have your first of many defeats.
Liverpool need to be 2 goals clear at about the 78min.
I don't know why it is but your team seam to play better in the final 10.

I can't be bothered regurgitating it all again so lets just wait and see the outcome of the floatation. That should illustrate how the market percieve Man Utd as a business, up untill now your owners have been engaged in Casino economics like it or lump it.

on rio.. Maldini to compare.. last ten seasons five of them were averaging 16 appearances.. The others around 30. You could argue he still did a job for the club did a thirty season on his last.ten years before 16 i think. Possibly down to injury which forms my thinking.. Rios last two seasons similar at a similar age. 13 then 16 last season so maybe Has rio got it in him for a few more 30 app seasons? If rio was able to pull out 15 app would that be enough? Factor in lower wages of a youth or utility player against his experience and what choice can we make. For me losing oshea and wes loses experience in that part of this pitch. Experience wise rio has ten years of manc in him and plenty more in the business. My personal choice would be keep him for 15+ games season to compliment the youth. If evans doesn't step up i'd suggest him being the one gone replaced by a player in the mid twenties. Keep rio. Any thoughts? Cons red

Do any of you seem to think that Nani can be transformed into a striker like Ronaldo. I for one believe he would be great in that role. We might miss him on the wings but there are a lot of talented players to fill in his shoes. He has great control, excellent shooting skills and possesses a lot of tricks. He can easily get past the best of defences. He'll be scoring a lot more goals which he absolutely loves and we might see many more somersaults.

Utd EBITDA £90 mill - £95mill 2009 and 2010. The jury's out on an increase in 2011 due to economic contraction, £110 mill is only a projection sydney.

Current EBITDA valuation multiples for a decent sized business typically fall between 4 and 6. Granted Utd have an excellent brand, loyal fan base and almost guaranteed revenues - attracting a premium over normal 'multiples'. So on balance, a multiple between 8 and 10 would seem fair valuing your boys at between £700mill and £900mill, approximately 3 times Liverpools acquisition price and reflecting EBITDA of approximately 3 times that of Liverpools. A perfectly suitable market comparable to establish value based on running the football club as a business and not for the prestige and infamy of a purchaser who wants to join an elite club of billionaires such as the petrodollar crew.

With the above in mind I would say your sailing very close to the wind in terms of your debt gearing ratio (£500 mill bond issue, £249 mill unknown source for settlement of PIK). The floatation will determine Utds value and we'll see where it takes you.

To be honest I'm just as bored with arguing with you boys about this subject as you are of reading my posts on it.

I raised the matter as I'm starting to get the impression your no longer in a position to go out there spending £30mill on single players season after season, i.e. Veron, Ferdinand, Berbatov, rooney etc. The Schneider deal never happened as your having to watch the pennies.

Your now reliant on your youth system just as much as we are and theres nothing too impressive coming out of that.

Lets agree to disagree but I will resurrect the topic when the floatation goes ahead. Im sure some interesting variables will come out of the process.

Nonetheless, when football was football and the moneymen weren't heavily involved back in the 70's and 80's, we were the main men and you lot should never forget that. When it was an even playing field, we produced the better teams.

Just remember where your main man Sir Matt Busby, the man you have a statue of outside your stadium learnt his trade.

Ozone:

PLEASE, shut up. you're boring, I don't care about your 'facts' or your 'amazing financial insight'. It's quite funny how whenever Sydney completely destroys your posts with REAL facts you seem to run off for a few hours and then post something else which is exactly what you said previously just dressed up a little.

I'm all for Scouse, City, Arsenal fans, etc. coming on here but atleast have some banter. lfc and Blair are actual quite fun to have a conversation with, you on the other hand are just bla bla bla debt, bla bla bla decline, bla bla bla bla. IT'S BORING.

Even if what you're saying is correct (which it isn't) it still wouldn't change the fact that you're BORING.

Maybe talk about the squads? or certain players? transfers? anything! Talking about united financially is fine, but every post? really?

you're starting to sound like a broke record mate. so shut up or change the tune.

Sorry for my outburst but you are BORING.

@Ed001, what is the situation with the Everton finances? Are they in any serious need to sell Barkley or Rodwell? I hope we get the former and stay away from the latter though.

REDFAITH {Ed001's Note - I got a lot of abuse off Everton fans a few months back for saying that there are serious money problems at the club, all of the stuff I said has since been admitted by Bill Kenwright. The club will have to sell, unless they can attract some investment, which is something Kenwright has failed to do so far. I really don't see any other choice for the club, they have to sell, they are running at a loss, it is a necessity. I would expect one of Rodwell or Barkley to be sold in the summer at the latest myself. I expect Fellaini to go as well, he is the other asset they can afford to lose.}

Many people here think Owen Coyle could be a replacement for SAF, but I cant understand what is happening with Bolton this season. Has he got everything wrong ? I remember last year at this point bolton were in the top 5. Even though they have played against the big guns till now but the results show that they are not even putting up a fight.
This brings me to 2nd point. Is Gary Cahill all that great that you all think he could be a replacement for Rio. I'm not saying that all the goals conceded were his fault, but being the senior player in the backline he should be able to regroup and motivate his team.
Personally I would prefer Samba to come in. The only thing against it would be his age, he would be 28 next summer but the guy loves to defend and is good at it.
Younger and my favourite option would be the Serbian Neven Subotic. I wish we can get him. He is young and would be great alongside Vidic, and when Vidic retires he could easily replace him as well. But one things for sure he wont come cheap.

Ozone mate do you have a gambling habit? you seem hung up on the word Casino and can't seem to stop saying it. Casino economics is just a buzz saying atm, but the fact speak for themselves. During a time of huge global recession and fiancial melt down world wide the glazers have bought an asset and more than doubled it's value and revenue in 5 years. As much as i hate the Glazers and realise that they have only done it for their own gain you have to respect their achivements even if i don't respect them.

Shappy

-------------------------------------------------

No Shappy, thats where your problem lies. Your arguments are all based on Man Utd being worth an assumed £1.8 billion. The Qataries have balked at the price but its as clear as the days long that the Glazers are warming things up to cash in.

You had £220 mill of high interest debt cleared in November last year, of which nobody seems to know where such a huge amount of money was obtained from.

Sydney, keeps arguing that the £600 mill floation will only mean the Glazers relinquishing 30% of the business. Again an implied asumption that Man Utd is worth around £1.9 billion! It isn't and untill you have firm offers on the table you will not know Man Utds worth. In the meantime the Glazers keep juggling the finances and playing the game but this is all based around a percieved valution of the club.

As we've seen in real estate, juggling finances around percieved valuations can lead to a messy outcome. We're going into a period of economic uncertainty again, UK economic growth rates being re-assessed and strife within European banks. Sydney seems to think that floating on the Asian Stock Market means that you'll be insulated from the worlds economic problems. What a Joker. So theres no Asian money in Europe or America Sydney? Asian businesss's just retain their wealth in Asia do they?

Gillette and Hicks played the game with Liverpool asumming a percieved valuation of £600-£800mill for the business. Loans and finance terms were all geared around valuations at that level. Sale price £300 mill! An epic swindle or realism?

Keep up with the arrogance chaps.
