Can any of the older posters remember a poster called the seagull? He had many a prophecy on here? Maybe some of the eds may recall him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Their posts will show up using the search function.}

07 Jun 2015 23:04:31
I remember the seagull, I was more a fan of Ngiak though!

I remember the old days when it was myself, Sydney, Redfaith, red man, Kloot, etc. posting everyday. Got to be going back 4 or 5 years now though, maybe even longer?!

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 00:21:18
2009/10 I think moon, those were the days. Sightings at airports, prophecies on signings, penguins and all sorts of rammle lol

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 00:51:12
Yes also jonty, Jono and Clayton Blackmore's tan come to mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 07:03:38
I'll never forget KLOOT being convinced the Glazers actually had moles on here working for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - to be fair it is common practice for people like that to employ people to watch relevant sites online and to flame any topic that shows signs of revealing sensitive information, in order to try and get the person revealing info to give away details about themselves or the person who told them their info. }

08 Jun 2015 08:29:30
Im one of them and scholes is defo not coming out of retirement. Ahh the old airport sightings were entertaining, quite like the odd bridgewater hospital sightings and people in for medicals.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 08:35:11
I think I joined in near the last years of KLOOT's days on this page. I remember not posting as much because I would be satisfied just watching the rest of you argue and debate between one another!

Used to be addicted to coming on here.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 09:04:39
Wow now I feel old. Lol. I remember the days before Kloot was Kloot and was Rainfishtrombone, and when Sneijder being spotted at Bridgewater was a new and exciting rumour. Hell i remember the site before it got changed in to team specific pages, and everyone was debating on the main page. It was chaos back then with far more Liverpool posters, things got quite tasty at times. Suppose that's why the Eds seperated us up. Lol. That must have been 7/8 years ago. Wow time flies.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - originally we had to separate things because of the Celtic/Rangers sectarian issues. Both sets of supporters would try and sneak in such nasty vile little comments that we had to find a way to get them away from the rest. That is why we went team specific. Some of the things they seemed to think were ok to use as 'banter' were quite sickening to be honest.}

08 Jun 2015 09:39:45
I've been around the site for about 4/5 years now and some of the rumours and sightings have been hilarious. One thing I have noticed though is that I've actually learned quite a bit from this site.

When I first started posting I was naive and full of football manager optimism. Seeing some of the posts from the Ed's which give you an insight into how the game really works has been one of the 2 best things about this site over that time. The other being some great debates about the side with fans who are very knowledgable.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 10:19:24
I didn't realise the problem was with the Rangers/Celtic fans, but i suppose those posts rarely made it onto the page and if they did were soon deleted. Its sad that such bile can make it into the beautiful game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is extremely sad, but it is much easier to deal with when they are on their own sites and people know what to look for.}

08 Jun 2015 12:01:15
That's when I first started reading shappy, a few weeks before the page separated, the old home page seemed to be rife with abuse.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 12:35:16
I found it one summer looking for rumours when rainfish became kloot and I don't think I have gone a day since without checking on the site. I think the best thing the eds ever did was give people logins, the days when no names used to come on and troll were the worst type of pond life, at least people now have to back up their opinions.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Jun 2015 16:13:26
I've been a reading this site since its "football rumours" days. Although not a regular poster, haven't missed a day reading. I remember the xavi rumours from seagull and quite miss ngiak's posts. All in all the page was way better back in day, the quality debates between syd (accused of being a Chelsea fan once 😄) redman, Redfaith, jono, unitedtillidie. etc Hopefully things pick up again.

Arsenal ended their in Schneiderlin according to daily jail. Does that mean Arsenal know United is the destination for Schneiderlin?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

07 Jun 2015 19:21:24
I tend not to believe anything in the rags that is not quoted. Though I really hope its true.

07 Jun 2015 14:52:18
Going to stick my neck out and say Jones will do a Smalling next season and show drastic improvements hopefully with out getting sent of as well. This is all barring his usual injuries. He had so much potential when he first arrived and I fully expected him to show it though for one reason or another he has regressed. What is everyone elses opinions?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

07 Jun 2015 15:03:46
I think not. The key areas he needed to improve were his decision making and use of the ball, zero improvement since Blackburn. He isn't going to get smarter now, and he barely manages a 10 yard pass. I hope you are right, but he has the raw ability just no finesse, which doesn't look like it will come.

Agree4 Disagree3

07 Jun 2015 15:23:50
Unless medical science perfect brain transplants and jones is at the front of the queue we are not going to see any improvement. He is a disaster waiting to happen.

I am almost convinced that all that gurning he does is because the brain cells you and I have telling use to keep our face in a neutral position are desperately trying to get him back in position. At this point his poor little brain becomes overloaded and he either trips over his own feet or lunges in to a tackle and hurts himself. Again normal people's brain would exercise self preservation, but not our jonsey. It's an awful lot to ask that one brain cell to do.

07 Jun 2015 16:23:42
Not good enough, reckless, poor on the ball and very injury prone. If I was in charge of sell him and Evans, keep smelling and rojo, and bring in 2 new cb's

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 16:48:55
Get motivated lads.
Finally we will see Evans leave. Which would have happened way back.

That's enough joy for this summer. We can think about Jones next time

Agree1 Disagree2

07 Jun 2015 16:51:31
We can all hope but he has been like this now for 3 seasons and has not progressed at all IMO.

There is something reminiscent of Tommy Cooper in the lad. Not just the look, but the tricks which never seem to come off.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 22:35:49
If we want to challenge in Europe and win titles,we need to get rid of Jones and maybe keep smalling as a squad player,we need a world class cb in there and I'm afraid they are not the answer

Agree3 Disagree1

08 Jun 2015 10:20:40
With all the transfer that are likely to be going on this summer I think we need to keep Jones for another year and maybe look to sign a second centre back next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 17:59:21
I don't see him being sold but agree he needs to show some progression soon. If we can bring in a cb then that also gives blackett and mcnair another year to hopefully get some game time (here or elsewhere on loan) and see how they develop. My guess would be perhaps evans leaving, blackett-loan which would leave smalling, jones, mcnair, rojo and the new cb for first team.

07 Jun 2015 11:49:51
Ok guys,

Here's a bit of fun, u are in charge of making ONE signing for United, who do u sign? (They must be realistic, no Messi's, Neymars or Ronaldos etc lol)

Mine would have to be Javi Martinez.

Let's get a gauge on who wants who.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - benzema for me chris..

07 Jun 2015 12:01:19
I already have one of those in my garage ed, it keeps my Italian number company.

Oh u mean the player. :)

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 12:22:10
Schneiderlin is the best signing we could make. His name often gets put on the back burner because he hasn't got that va va voom reputation!

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i think hes great JMB, but he looks arsenal bound mate..

07 Jun 2015 12:23:13
Kroos, best in the world at deep lying playmaker imo

07 Jun 2015 13:13:58
Bale.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 13:16:27
It would have to be Bale for me. He'd give us someone who could turn a game around on his own. We haven't had that since Ronaldo left. That one signing would give us an outside chance of the title, next season in my opinion.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 13:20:17
Would have to be Bale for me

07 Jun 2015 13:21:35
Verati for me he's the best holding midfielder we could get and is only going to get better

07 Jun 2015 13:25:04
Falcao, I think he coild do so well in the prem

07 Jun 2015 13:41:50
Paul Pogba all the way.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jun 2015 13:44:16
One player who I think would've been perfect for LVG's style would be Fabregas, as we all know that ship has sailed so I'd go for Pjanic. He looks quality. Always looking for a forward pass, something we lack when Carricks out the team.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jun 2015 13:44:31
Sorry lads I would also say Bale but I thought he was in with the Ronaldo's, Neymars etc.

vidal, thought it last year and still do. We lack drive and penetration in the middle of the park
Would make all around him better

07 Jun 2015 16:50:18

07 Jun 2015 16:53:58
I would go with Verrati. Engine to build midfield around for winning trophies.

Chelsea had Makalele and so did real, busquet today at Barca. Every greta team needs one.

08 Jun 2015 09:18:49
Scholes has been the best player to play for us in the premier league era. And every great team needs a great midfielder to link everything together.

So for me I'd go all out for Marco Verratti, he is the closest player i've seen to Scholes and is a better tackler.

Verratti is the best young midfielder in world football, people get caught up in the hype around Pogba. And the English mentality tends to have us favour pace and power over technique and intelligence.

Verratti is a much much smarter player than Pogba, he is a far superior passer, has miles better vision and understanding and a better touch and technique. Pogba is stronger and charges about more as well as smashing the odd 30 yarder into the top corner.
But Verratti's all round game would have a much bigger impact as he is influencial thoughout the entire 90 minutes.

Thats why for me the only player i would go all out for is Marco Verratti.

According to some sources, is it true we are in for Kane at £50m and Felipe Anderson at £30m? Also a lot of talk about Vietto? Any interest there Edd's?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

07 Jun 2015 11:52:16
Isn't Vietto going to Athletico Madrid?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats not set in stone chris, arsenal and liverpool are very interested but the language issue would tend to favour AM..

07 Jun 2015 12:02:07
I just remember ed02 saying his likely destination being Madrid if Chelsea get Griezman

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 12:33:54
I don't think Chelsea is going to get Either.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 12:23:30
Ed025 can I ask you which English club decided to put a move for Vidal off because of the language barrier?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that was just my personal view on the situation JMB as players sometimes find it hard fitting in when they dont speak their mother tongue mate...

07 Jun 2015 13:04:30
No worries mate I thought I read somewhere an English club passed on signing Vidal last summer due to the problems you speak off.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 13:43:49
Manchester United apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 13:56:23
I don't understand this language barrier thing that everyone goes on about? It's football! A simple gesture with the arm or leg, or stuff that's draw up before kickoff or halftime, easy? I'm deaf in my left ear, I got along fine! Ok, not the same level but you get my drift? Language barrier, my butt cheek!

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jun 2015 14:32:08
Ronnie,

You say you don't read papers then keep asking if made up stories from the papers are true.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 14:48:59
Ronnie that language barrier might not be such an issue out on the pitch, but considering that even if they are playing twice a week that adds up to 180 minutes a week. But a week isn't 180 minutes long, don't you think not being able to speak the language of the country you live in might be a problem for the other 9900 minutes in a week which aren't spent on a pitch?

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 20:01:54
The language barrier is real mate, it's why British players often falter abroad because we're stubborn and rarely speak another language

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2015 12:11:08
Bying Kane for 50 mill now would be a big mistake. Better to give him another season to prove he isn't a one season wonder.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 09:51:03
I'm not buying into these Gaitan rumours. A centre forward will be a priority, not another winger, and if we are interested then I think we may well be in for Felipe Anderson.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Jun 2015 10:35:07
I agree we need a new striker but the thing that worries me is if somebody like Benzema comes in he isn't going to sit on the bench so what does LvG plan to do with Rooney because he must NOT play in midfield because it is massively to the detriment of the team also if he is then played in the number ten role then you will not be playing Mata in his best position.

Agree5 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 07:38:48
Enthral long game last night and interesting that 4 of our former players were on the pitch. I feel like I watched a different game as the press are lauding Suarez; I thought he was poor and looked overweight and unfit.

Pogba and Vidal did nothing to justify their hype (I realise it was just 1 game) and Buffon showed that age is no barrier when you are a keeper suggesting Cech would be a good option if DDG leaves.

And what is with footballers and tattoos and stupid haircuts? Do they look in the Mirror and think 'looking good'? I find it hard not to laugh at some of them; Pogba, Vidal, Alves, muppets every one of them.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the haircut messi was sporting was no better AJH, it looked like he had cut it himself with one of them comet combs with the razor blades in it.. :)

07 Jun 2015 08:05:32
Would agree with all of the above AJH (especially the haircuts) but I don't think Suarez looked overweight. He had a decent game in my opinion (not a spectacular one) but he was always looking to get on the ball.

I would also like to say that Neymar when on the ball is a fantastic player but what an embarrassment to the game he is. Feigning injury and rolling over constantly. Screaming into his hands every time he was nudged and fell to the ground. Complete disgrace and takes away from his massive talent.

Agree5 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 09:22:27
I agree with you AJH. It was disappointing to see 4 former players in a CL Final for me showed our incompetence/weakness, Evra kept Messi pretty quiet as well. Can't help but think with LVG's ball retention game he would have been great for us this season. With Moyes he was a liability, but in this current system a major asset, foolish to let him go so soon.

Suarez had a poor game for me, definitely looked like he was struggling for fitness after his injury. News reports saying "Barcelona won emphatically" what a joke, Juventus looked like they were going to win until that 2nd goal went in. Vidal looked like a man with something to prove, a bit foolish that first half, we need some of that bite though.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 10:12:16
Vidal looked wild in the first half mate. Actually put me off him a little bit.

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Jun 2015 10:42:31
Vidal just had the hump because he should of tracked back which might of prevented the opening goal and Pogba did nothing too justify all the hype about him a good player but not amazing (yet maybe?) Also Neymar just confirmed everything that is wrong with La Liga yes they have some of the best teams in the world and best players but i get so angry watching it because all the play acting Barca and Madrid are the worst for it especially the so called hard men Ramos,Pepe and Busquets the only saving grace is Messi just like Georgie Best and Pele gets lumps kicked out of him but just gets up and carries on.
