Given how poor our midfield has been I can't believe we haven't recalled Cleverley. He's just what we need right now, I think LVG has missed a trick here.

I agree. Just another one of many bizarre decisions by the manager. The lad is going to be world class.
Come on Beavis ( or is it Butthead?), bring back TC23.

Yes I really feel we could have used a midfielder who has managed a grand total of zero goals and assists in 23 starts in the premier league this season, what was lvg thinking.

08 Mar 2015 11:51:22
I think that come the end of the season the difference between 4 and 5 May come down to having a player of Cleverly's calibre.

It could be worse, do you guys remember the clamour to sign Benteke a little while ago?!

08 Mar 2015 16:54:30
Beast

I can remember a lot more than that. Zaha being the new Ronaldo and Powel the new Paul Scholes. Kind of made me Giggle. I also remember people wanting us to sign Strootman as our midfield saviour. If we are slow now with him we would be walking it in LOL.

Depay would be a good signing as i have actually watched him 3 or 4 times already and he has been good every time.

Thanks.

You got a £100 bet on with a lad at Uni? You must both be Lecturers.
If not, I bet you are one of the first to complain about tuition fees. I thought all students lived below the poverty line and only ate beans? :)

07 Mar 2015 22:41:43
Betty in my day beans would have been a luxury. Don't know there born.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 11:28:36
We had to work 25 hours a day just to get the beans.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2015 12:24:30
Back in my day we didn't even have beans, so we had to use our imagination to pretend what having food in our bellies might feel like

08 Mar 2015 17:20:45
Well in my day, they hadn't even invented imagination. So there.

Get a feeling QPR might do a number on Spurs today. Let's see and most probably hopeful thinking:)

A Spurs win today will mean there are four points separating 4th and 7th. What an open race for the CL spot.

GCU, why do you keep putting "lots of love" at the end of your posts? I find it rather disconcerting.

Cheeky. I am going to miss the arsenal game by the looks of it and the spurs game. Hope to read about 2 wins :)

Apart from the bad press that Evans has brought to the club can no one see the blindingly obvious positives? He won't be playing for 6 games. To me that is great news, he is useless.

I thought he played well against Newcastle.

Agree10 Disagree2

07 Mar 2015 13:22:48
He is one of the worst players in the squad. He doesn't pass well, not that strong in the air and not quick, I don't know why he is still here. If we get two centre backs in summer then he and Jones for me are gone.

People have selective memories, Juan.

Agree8 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 13:54:03
Last week he was better than Di Maria, Valencia, Felliani, Smalling and Young. He has came through the youth system, has cost us nothing in the way of transfer fees and is one of our own.

Granted he is not the best player in the team but he is more than capable of being a good squad player. He has had good years and bad years, good games and bad games but like John O'Shea (who wasn't the greatest technical player) always gives as much as he can.

Short memories indeed.

Agree7 Disagree4

07 Mar 2015 15:21:43
Yes he's one of our own. But this year he's regressed. At some point we have to decide is he worth persevering with or do we let him go?

We all agree we need one centre half. Rojo is safe. But one of Evans, Jones or smalling in all likelihood will have to leave. Maybe even two. At moment Evans is winning that particular race.

I'm all for backing our players. But we can't afford to be sentimental and hold on to players that aren't at the level required or are on the decline. Whether we bought them or developed them. We had too much of that at the end of the fergie era.

Can you honestly say he is good enough for Manchester United? You must be mad. What is he good at?

It makes no difference if he was from the farest reaches of the world or was at the club since he was born - he is still rubbish and wouldn't even make the bench of teams like City, Chelsea, Spurs.

Agree3 Disagree7

I'm totally with JuanMata here. How can ye not see he is a HUGE loss for us.
What everyone isn't seeing also is that he is under a lot of pressure. He is seen a senior figure in the squad and because of this is overly used by the new signings and more youthful members on match day, with all the passing back that goes on. It looks as though LVG has told the team to do this in order to restart a dead attack, to gather momentum from the Gk if Ness. Who is going to do this now? No Rio, no Vidic. Jones is always injured. 2 years ago we were singing his praises.
I think once Blind, DiMaria, and Herrara are used to the premiership AND it's players, we will be a lot stronger.

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Mar 2015 22:48:03
But as senior player he should cope with pressure. Vidic did. So did Rio. And Johnson. And Bruce. Evans looked assured 2 years ago partnered by either Rio or vidic but now as the senior player in the partnership he can't take the pressure.

07 Mar 2015 23:11:46
A HUGE loss for us? Give your head a wobble mate. He's terrible and has been consistancy for years. He had one good season alongside Rio and Vidic. He's slow, poor on the ball, weak, clumsy. Doesn't matter if he's one of our own or not if we want to be the best we need the best and Jonny Evans is a mid table player at best. Of our 3 poor CB he need to go and if another one does too then it would be jones . Smalling best of a very bad bunch

I fully expected the ban for Evans for spitting as the video evidence was quite clear, but also his reaction to the suggestion of spitting by Cisse did seem like he had no idea what he was on about.
My question then is did he genuinely not spit at him or is it just another example of him being bewildered by what is happening on the pitch.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

07 Mar 2015 12:32:00
Hahaha inhope wouldn't put it past Evans to end up bewildered at what's happening on the pitch.

I blame LVG for giving him too many instructions, he just gets confused!haha

Ed quick question regarding William Carvalho. I have seen you have stated United still maintain interest in him but his price is still very high.

I was wondering is the price being set by Sporting or is that what it costs to buyout his contract?

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Coincidently it is both the price Sporting want and the value of his release clause (which is no consequence to any English sides). There is no "buyout" clause.}

Morning. What a chance for di maria to show us what he can do. We all know how good he is, I think Monday will be the perfect stage for him to perform and hopefully kick start his career with us.
I know a lot of you will think I've gone mad, but I am confident we'll beat arsenal. And that prediction spells trouble as I'm normally wrong about all things United!!

Believable8 Unbelievable1

07 Mar 2015 10:02:08
I think it may be next year until we see the best of di maria .
It quite often takes a player a year to settle .
The only issue is will his style suit lvg's system

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2015 10:13:19
I agree Nomid. I think if we take our chances we will beat Arsenal on Monday also. If we control posession the way we have done all season then I feel Arsenal do not have a plan B.

However if we let Arsenal on the ball and they get to play their own possession game I feel we will be inviting trouble. We need to control the game to win in my opinion.

P.S would like nothing more than DiMaria to be the best player on the park and for Alexis to have a mare.

I think the match against arsenal is going to be a real tough one. In the recent past, against top teams away frm home arsenal tended to be too naive and always tried to out gun the other side. And this was mostly be because of arsene wenger and his stubbornness.
All this changed on their match against city. Arsene seemes to have started adapting a little and is exploiting the brilliant counter attacking capability that his team possesses.
But they still lack that commanding figure. Old Trafford under lights, should be a brilliant match and hopefully we come out on top

I certainly hope so. It promises to be a good match and I will love it if we can beat them just to shut Merson up!!
