Crikey, what have I started! Bond, I don't want to fall out with you so let me clarify:

The word legend is bandied about too easily but Keane is a legend.

The point I was making was in response to the post that said neither would have been successful without the other, which is nonsense. Clearly, both would have been, Keane as a player, SAF as a Manager. I just thought the point was a spurious one.

Seriously how is it nonsense? I can't understand how it is? Is it because you say it is? Like I stated earlier would fergie of won the treble without keane in that 99 side?? I think not! Validates my point already then the countless times he'd grab n pull the team when they needed him even in the tunnel before the match. that's what it takes to win trophies a winning desire and mentality. I stand by my original point which you have just tried to make look a pointless post because you don't agree. By the same token Ronaldo and ferguson helped each other acheive a certain amount, Is that nonsense also or is that ok because everyone still loves Ronaldo?

{Ed007's Note - And I'm not falling out with anyone AJH lol. It did escalate pretty quick! (whew)

I still have the 2nd leg semi away to Juventus in 99. Keane took the game by the scruff of the neck and you could see it happening before your eyes albeit accompanied superbly by Scholes at the time. Still one of my favourite games of all time against what was arguably the best side in Europe apart from ourselves of course. The game was turned by sheer will alone.

Didnt fergie say to Roy when trying to sign him "we'll win the league if you sign or don't sign, but we'll win the champions league if you do?"

Do we need Khedira or Vidal, i say NO because Carrick is coming back and his combination with Blind will be massive, maybe sell Fellaini and bring in Delph as backup for cheap
I think we really need a pair of experienced CBs although McNaar has proved a lil reliable i still think whether him or smalling won't be able to stand the heat against City or Chelsea or Arsenal, we don't need big names but talented players like Rojo, i would suggest Vlaar and Shawcross. , what do u think guys n Ed

Believable1 Unbelievable12

I say yes i still think carrick may play cb

Agree0 Disagree4

I think to play blind and carrick in the same line up we'd have to drop a striker, Rvp probably. But dontchu think our build up play would be a bit slow? But lik jred said he might play as cb too. Let's see eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick had one good season in his past 5. He is an average player at this standard.

Blind is an upgrade on Carrick but in order for us to compete with the very best we need an upgrade on Blind, not reverting to Carrick.

Khedira is over rated, the Brazil game has only strengthened this mirage. Vidal would be awesome and is the calibre we need to be signing now, not over hyped or over paid squad players.

Agree3 Disagree3

Yes I totally see where you're coming from, because Carrick is peter pan and will stay young forever, performing to his usual 'tremendous' self. Also Smalling can't stand upto Chelsea or city but shawcross and vlaar can, because they've done so in the past, haven't they.
But what really surprise iis your talk of selling the big wig, he sounds like your type of player, extremely average and punching well above his weight. That is what you get when you buy average, an inflated price with no performance, whereas if you spend the money you get Di Maria.

Blimey beast who is not over rated lol.

Carrick squad player at best we need vidal or strootman as much as a quality experienced cb not vlaar tho

Ed002 mentioned it may take 3 windows for VG to get the team/squad he would be working towards. So assuming that the team he is working towards is based around 4-3-3 then I would expect at least one cm to come in maybe even a dm & cm, a cb and a wide attacking player. So yes if he can get either Strootman or Vidal or even both he will.

Morning guys, does anyone know who we can expect to see fit again after the international break? Carrick and Jones?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Smalling, evans and young too I believe. Don't get too excited i give smalling and evans 2 full games to get injured again.

Shaw is already back in training.

Agree3 Disagree0

Rather ask how long we can expect those lot to stay fit.

Agree2 Disagree0

Herrera too I think.

Agree1 Disagree0

Shaw playing for england u21, s tonight

Roy Keane = LEG - END fact ! Easily my favourite player of my generation. If we had a Roy in our team now we'd be back amongst the best. What's happened since he left I don't really care too much about, what he produced on a field week in week out outweighs any of that for me. How would we have handled the likes of pat viera at his peak without Roy. Would we have been as dominant without him ? I'm not so sure. You've only got to look at how weak our midfield is now with the yayas and others steam rolling our midfield. Roy just wouldn't have let that happen.

No one is doubting the player he was! He was phenomenal. Just seems to have a slightly bitter personality.
