Latest rumours are that £39 million rated Benfica winger, Nicolas Gaitan is United's top transfer target for January.

Shaqiri is 10 times better than Gaitan. Better to go for him rather than Gaitan (if at all)

A 4th winger and still no cm what a joke that would be

I wouldnt say that. IMO Shaqiri is far too inconsistent. He shows the odd flash of brilliance then goes missing for the rest of the game. To say he is 10 times better than Gaitan is a bit over the top. That said, if we spend £39million on Gaitan when that money could've bought us someone like Pastore, Sneijder or could get us Martinez and a LB, I wouldnt be too happy. Gaitan is more likely to go for around the £23million mark and even that is too much IMO.

We don't need another f***ing winger!! We need two midfield players, defensive abd creative, plus a centreback to take over from Rio/Nemanja. If Fergie gets yet another winger I will scream ..... arrrgggghh!

Agree0 Disagree0

Latest rumours that he will definetly come to united

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan has played CM all this career up to being managed by Jorge Jesus at Benfica. He likes to sit deep but makes very good use of the ball and in the past has chipped in with his fair share of goals.

So when looking at our midfield, two players who could make a huge difference and wouldbe availabe to us are Moutinho and Rodwell. I thought we would have signed these two a long time ago, but i think now is the time. Moutinho would settle in so easily, Anderson, Nani, Rafael, Fabio all speak the same language and can easily help him settle - and Rodwell knows Smalling and Jones etc from England duties. Rodwell could eventually succeed Carrick fully and Moutinho would be great in out midfield to pick the passes. Another player i'd like is Kagawa, he for me could replace Park and Giggs on the wings, he's also a marketing dream for us.

We could get that lot for under 50 million in my opinion. Benatia wouldn't be a bad shout as defensive cover either.

If he has money, he would surely go for martinez and ericcsen/ gotze (SPELL) as they are immense talent and younger so it fits current plan to develop for future. this duo is perfect for any team. but but but... where is money??

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell is a poor version of Jones. If SAF was going to buy him, it would have been last summer when he was apparently offered to us for £15m. We need a creative player in midfield and they are out there! Ganso, Hamsik, Eriksson, Tiago and others, all under 25, all very difficult to get for one reason or another, all would cost £28m - £40m. I don't think we will buy anyone above £12m before the summer. We are really short of quality in midfield, Jones, Carrick and Cleverley is as good as it gets and one of those are injured and only Jones is top notch. Anderson, when he comes back isn't really a top player, Fletcher is a good scrapper but no more, As for Pogba, Morrison and Tunnicliffe, they are all untried, all potential, nothing proved. We could do with two midfielders really!

In place of KAGAWA i think we should sign SHAQIRI..

Please no more Rodwell talk - he doesnt even shine in the Everton team and is far below the standard we require...anyone who believes he is has been sucked in by the dillusional English press

Fergies latest interview states that he will not be going into the transfer market. he has enough defensive cover to cope with the nxt 4/5 months. I guess we go with what we got till the summer.

Believable27 Unbelievable14

Fergie has faith in his squad, if the players constantly criticised on this site fail to impress, they will be shipped out , they only need games to gather momentum and consistantcy. The injuries and the lack of leadership in the engine room are unsettling but any signings would be a knee jerk response going by the reports coming out of OT and maybe might hinder or signal the departure of Pogba.

City, PSG, Malaga, Chelsea and the influence of the buy out clauses in South America have inflated the market. The prospect of being cup tied in Europe and the settling in time, suggest any signings would be unappealing and problematic.

SAF usually says something and does another. So I'll not take his latest comments into much consideration. I personally think that he will wield the axe this transfer market, just imagine what he's going through: out of the Carling cup and the CL this early and in seven days interval. He was talking about reaching Barca's standard and now so much humiliation. But from now to the opening of the transfer market he'll need every player due to too many injuries. So this reassuring comments to the players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking at todays bench, united need more strength imo, gutted we went out of UCL, but we didn't deserve to, we used to beat teams in the tunnel before games started, now there is no fear which is not a good sign. fergie must sign some players january, it proves we need t buy likes of sneijder, schweinstieger

Agree0 Disagree0

^ Sneijder & Schweinsteger are approaching their late 20's and have probably hit their peak, both are on considerable wages and both would command huge transfer fees. Can't see Fergie spalshing out that sort of cash on players who are likely to have 2 years max at their peak with no sell on value should they need to get rid if they don't perform. There are far better options for Utd out there than these two players, who in my opinion don't represent good value for money in the long-term.
