Lastly, i don't know why, but i've got a feeling that Cleverley may be sold, i really don't know how or why i have this feeling but something doesn't seem to right. It's the same feeling i got about Chris Eagles, i think if we get offered between 8-12 Million for him we'll take it. It's just whether Wigan or whoever can afford to risk that. I hope we don't sell him but i've just got this strange feeling about him right now.

OH and i backtrack my comments about Macheda after his comments about missing fish & Chips i can see him ending his career with us ;]

The Moon.

@I'm not certain we will sign Stekelenburg, I just have a feeling we will as he ticks all of the boxes. Cleverley & Welbeck are both big parts of SAF future plans, I have heard his interviews and he's very excited by them. Eagles never had the strength to be top class, Cleverley will fit in the United set-up like a glove mate, Fergie just wants him to get more game time in time for next season.

I think Macheda has the highest chance of being sold on, Gibson, Kuszczak & Obertan look likely too. It's not unusual for SAF to have a clear out just before making 3-4 signings. But it's all just opinion mate, summer we will know much more.

The 16 year old belgian midfield talent Adnan Januzaj is on his way to Manchester United.

Apparently he'll sign a 4 year contract and will earn around 12k per month.

"Anybody care to comment? ed? Sydney? anyone?

The Moon."

@I was impressed with Parker last night, it's a shame about his age though. I think it's tough to see who SAF will bring in, no one seen the Bebe deal happening, no one seen the Hernandez deal happening, the Larsson or Blanc deals. He is a very shrewd man and I would say he already knows who he will bring in this summer. With Hargreaves & VDS leaving it is certain a CM & GK will be coming in, I also believe we will bring in someone exciting, not necessarily expensive, but exciting. I hope it's Iturbe, after his recent displays for Argentina U20s, he is a certainty to become world class.

I don't think we'll buy a new first team forward with Hernandez Rooney and Berbatov being the established forwards and then Kiko, Danny and Mirame fighting it out for the fourth spot.

The midfield is anybodies guess, although i'd like Scott Parker it's probably 99% not going to happen, i don't think it'll be Rodwell or Henderson either, i literally have no idea about the midfield.

I'm pretty sure Evra will stay but something just doesn't feel right with our back 4, i don't know what it is but i get a little worried when i see that one of Vidic, Rio, Patrice and Rafael don't play. Anyone else feel that?

And, again the keeping situation is up for debate, i'd like to see either De Gea, Adler, Reina, Akinfeev or Cesar but there's no real chance of any of them apart from Adler. Oh and theres still people mentioning Smithies, i think he's brilliant and should already be a top 6 keeper, shame he's in league 1 right now.

this is the first time i've never been able to second guess what Sir Alex is thinking. .

Anybody care to comment? ed? Sydney? anyone?

{Editor's Note: A player with experience in the Champions League. The remaining strikers are woefully inexperienced aside from WR and DB.}

@I am not sure it matters if the strikers have CL experience, surely as long as they can score goals, they can play. Hernandez has already proved what he can do on a number of occasions, in the PL, CL, WC, FA cup & League cup. The lad just cannot stop scoring.

I think a midfielder, a GK, and a replacement for Evra is certain if he leaves, but I think the striker brought in will be Iturbe. An exceptional talent. Ed do you have any knowledge about United targets? Or have you just heard what positions they are looking to strengthen?

Sydney!
{Editor's note - Different Ed here, but no, I have no contacts in the club}

In other words ed a more fit version of owen then. I'd expect the bulk of the money to go on the midfield then a keeper not sure how much would be left for a striker and not really sure who would be available. SSB

Editor i get what you mean. Next season welbeck will be in the squad. Diouf i'd like to see given a chance. Loan bebe. I'd sell macheda for the right price and in the current market to me that's ten million minimum. Owen is tricky. No he's not going to play consistantly but his knowledge would be invaluable to the younger strikers. Not sure who you would bring in though. What sort of more established player do you mean? SSB

{Editor's Note: The strike force includes a mix of young talent with a bright future (Hernandez), raw talent that is or needs to be shipped out on loan and then watched for a while (Diouf, Bebe, Welbeck, Macheda) and Michael Owen. Time has perhaps come for Owen to move on, and there is not room in the first team squad for all of the youngsters. So I see a need to rationalise the strikers and for an established striker to be added.}

@I thought that was what you meant, Bebe will go out on loan, I think Iturbe will be bought and sent to Porto on loan, I think Diouf & Welbeck will link up with the squad and I think Macheda will either go out on a season long loan or be sold if someone offers a good price. Our strikers for next season will be Hernandez, Berbatov, Welbeck, Rooney & Diouf. I think Owen will be released. Obertan will go out on loan or be sold, Cleverley will come in to replace him.

Ed, you think a striker will come in and also a LB? What do you think will happen with the midfield & GK positions?

Sydney!

{Editor's Note: There will be a keeper - Adler would be my shout; a left-back if Evra leaves as discussed; a striker as discussed; and a decision over Defour or someone else. So three or four players.}

{Editor's Note: A different Ed of course. The big decision is whether to follow-up with Alexis Sanchez or not. Chelsea got very close to signing the player in the summer before the Udinese owner started playing up. Chelsea were concerned, and I think perhaps Manchester United were also concerned, that the player may struggle physically with the EPL. There is a chance that Udinese may price the player out of the "interest levels" of most clubs in any case. If I had to guess, I would say that Coentrao from Benfica may arrive and Evra may depart. This would likely see Taiwo move to Benfica on a Free and Benfica invest in a couple of Brazilian youngsters. Finally, the club needs to take a look at the strike force and perhaps do some rationlising.}

@I cannot see Evra leaving, reason I think this is because for nearly the same price as Evra would cost, Coentrao would cost a similar amount and I think Real will go for the younger option. I have considered this though, Coentrao could play on the LW too, which will allow SAF to try playing Nani in the centre in a five man midfield?

What do you mean about the strike force?

@So do you expect there to be little funds made available Ed? I don't see us wasting £50m on someone like a 'past his best' Torres but do you think we will spend well when replacing VDS & Hargreaves?

Sydney! {ed's note - I expect a 20m player or two to join myself.}

@Do you expect any player in particular Ed? Is it time to move for Rodwell as he is rarely playing, still not made his England debut, so he would cost less than £20m, especially in the summer. There was also reports that Sunderland, Everton & Villa are keen on Gibson. God knows why but they are. Could Gibson be used in the deal?

United scouts have also been going to Dortmund, even to some training sessions, is Kagawa, Gotze or Sahin on our radar?

Sydney!

I'm sure sydney will tell me if i'm correct or not but didn't we agree compensation with ajax for van velzen? As for erikson we've been linked with him before three weeks ago and back in summer. Hadn't seen him play before last night but does look good. Lastly ajax are a selling club, even if they were in a snot with us they'd still sell if we offered enough money. SSB

@That's right mate, we shook hands with Ajax months ago, compensation was agreed and he has been playing for our U18s for months now.

Sydney! {ed's note - he was also right about United watching Erikssen most of the season, United and Liverpool have had him scouted all this and had a look at him last season.}

"I'm sure you'll all slate me for what i'm about to say, after what i just said, but i am slightly concerned about Rooney. i'm a big fan, but something is still not right there. i wouldn't be surprised if he left in summer. The squad does need proper investment, but whether the Glazers would provide the funds is another thing. We know the "value for money" line is nonsense (look at Van der Vaart and Ozil), so i think there is something major happening behind the scenes."

@When will people get it into their numb skulls that VDV was not offered to us for £8m, he was offered to us along with Chelsea for £18m, Spurs got him for £8m simply as they done the deal last minute and Real do not see Spurs as a threat. Ozil wanted to move to Spain, he has made that clear himself. Of course United made inquiries for him, but he wanted to go to Spain. Not Manchester.

Also Rooney will not be going anywhere, not for a few years yet.

United will not be signing erikson, when was the last time united sgned a player from ajax? united and ajax don't have a good relationship due to united poaching Gyliano van Velzen.

manchester united face a new poaching row over Dutch starlet Gyliano van Velzen.

The Guardian says Van Velzen, a Dutch under-16 international, has turned his back on Ajax's famed youth academy and agreed terms at Old Trafford in a deal that has incensed the Amsterdam club.

Van Velzen, a tall, left-sided midfielder, initially informed Ajax in March that he had received an offer to move to Manchester, but the teenager was dissuaded from going through with the move and decided to stay with the 'B1' under-17s' team.

The issue seemed to be resolved until Van Velzen returned to Ajax a few weeks ago and informed them that his parents had decided they wanted to move to England to start a new life. The family, it emerged, had been offered a house in the Manchester area and Van Velzen, affiliated to Ajax since the age of 13, arrived towards the end of last week.

Ajax, renowned for producing so many outstanding Dutch footballers, are said to be "surprised and disappointed." They have written to United's chief executive, David Gill, asking for compensation and, if they are not satisfied with the response, they will look at other options.

@This is old news, United settled a compensation fee with Ajax months ago.

"{Editor's Note: I am guessing it is a conspiracy Sydney!. If Iturbe has a deal with Mendes and is willing to back out of his deal with Porto, and Porto are willing to give up any contractual agreement then whoever brokers such a deal will likely want a good fee from it. If it is Mendes then Manchester United will need to agree and pay for those services.}"

i don't know if this was suggested already, just caught the conversation from that point but wouldn't that be the same as the whole Man United - Mikel - Chelsea affair?

"How many people will now link us to the Danish kid Eriksen. Reading you lot is like Reading the sun's gossip column. Anyway, united will be signing rodwell, de gea and sanchez. All done."

To be honest he looked very impressive the way he played against England. And he'd be a lot cheaper than some of the other players that are linked to united. I'm not linking him to united but he looked a good player from seeing him play for the first time

Believe it or not but United are trying to get Fabregas in the summer. The source i heard this from says that we're willing to spend "whatever it takes".

Barcelona is still his most likely destination but they don't want to pay what Arsenal wants for him and are ready to take a deeper look at Ganso and Pastore instead.
