Ed, Douglas Costa. I know we have cover in wingers but we lack a final delivery and we have shown a lot of interest in the past. Do you see UTD following up there interest in the future. He looks world class. {Ed007's Note - There are no plans to move for him.}
Believable4
Unbelievable1
Douglas Costa isn't an out and out winger, usually plays in the middle behind the strikers. I've always wondered what happened to him, i know his name was being mentioned a lot last summer!

Was just reading one of Demba Ba's 'Management team' is claiming we have made enquiries regarding him but nothing official yet. Any info on this Ed ?
I personally think for figures being quoted he is well worth a punt after all weren't Bebe £7 million

Dnt read into all the hype mate,just because he had a good game against us doesn't mean we have any interest in him what's so ever,it's all just hype.
Super red
Agree2
Disagree2
I don't think people are speculating about a move because he had a good game against us, but because he consistently scores goals for Newcastle against nearly every team. That being said, I'm not sure why United would be in the market for a striker at this point, when the area of need is surely center midfield?
Ruudinthemood
Agree5
Disagree0
Yeah we badly need two centre midfielders mate it's so obvious.and the fact that he brought back scholes proves the point.it also tells me he won't buy cm in jan.i welcome scholes back he was a fabulas player and he will bring the youngers on but it just stinks of desperation.He won't spend the money for a world class player but he needs to.
Super red
Agree2

Super red - its hardly like we would be interested 'just because he had a good game against us'. The guy has 15 goals this season playing with a average team - and we are just over the half way mark!
IrishRed
Agree1

Couldn't agree more with you,bringing scholsey back says 2 things (1) he knows his midfield isn't good enough,(2) he hasn't got the money to go out an by a top quality player................glazer's out.
Agree5
Disagree2
I have one thing to say on this Glazers out Some one willing with money in
Agree2

I don't think SAF isn't buying because we don't have the money. After all we spent nearly £20 mil on a keeper, second biggest transfer figure for a keeper. Then buying young and jones. When SAF says 'the right players aren't available', this is almost obvious. Any team that is fighting for any sort of silverware or qualifying for a european tournament isn't going to want to sell their best players half way through the season when they know they can get just as much money at the end of the year.
Ozwald

Irish red- yes he has been banging in the goals this season and has done well,but my point being is that all this hype about him only comes out after he's played well against us uno.newcastle have had a farely easy start tonde season bar the last few games.
Oswald - my point is not only the transfer money he won't pay wages for another world class player.

United being linked with a move for Olympiakos RB Vasilis Torosidis (£6M). Don't know an awful lot about him other than he's Greece's RB at international however he doesn't exactly excite me.
Personally, I'd love to see us move for Gregory van der Wiel if SAF is purusing a RB.
A couple of thoughts Eds and Syd. With us seemigly being priced out of a move for the likes of Gotze. Do you think SAF would turn his attention to Christian Eriksen of Ajax who has plenty of potential. And, is there any truth in the Luka Modric rumours? Love to see Modric at Old Trafford he fits the bill perfectly.
Believable1

Would love to see Modric at OT would fit the bill perfectly indeed!
Theres no chance of it now but perhaps a cheeky bid in the summer when Scholes retires again and Harry takes the England job?

Well I know this is not a great source (**********) but I liked the rumour and thought I'd share it because if it was true I think it would be a great signing.
Apparently United have spoken to FC Basel representatives to persuade Shaqiri not to move to anyone else before the summer as SAF see's him as Scholesy's long term successor. Porto seem to be interested!
We could get him for £12M?!
Now before people start saying he's more LM rather than CM, I think he would be more than capable in the centre with a decent ball winning player!
Thoughts?
Believable9
Unbelievable5
I'd be more likely to buy your story if you said long term replacement for giggsy. Left footed player, great pace and dribbling not to mention his deadly crossing ability. Also he's not exactly skinny for a young player so more than capable of adapting to the EPL.
Ozwald
Agree7
Disagree0
Also, Young, Nani, Valencia, Welbeck can play out wide, Morrison can so prob got enough cover for Giggsy long term I'd expect and seeing as Giggsy has been playing CM last couple years it would suggest SAF has found a long term LM solution?
Agree3
Disagree2
I thought Ashley young ws bought into the team 2 b the long term replacement for giggs?
Agree3
Disagree1
Great talent is Shaqiri. United have been monitoring him for the past year or so and after watching him in the CL this year I think he would be a good signing particuarly with Nani's future uncertain.
Agree2
Disagree2
Why is Nani's future uncertain? Don't see how a transfer for nani would be good for either himself or the club. I just wished he'd started the CL final against barca last season..
Also Shaqiri would be a good addition purely because after Giggs leaves we'll have no left footed players that can play out wide.

Ed is there any truth in these ever growing rumours about us going for Ba and that Fergie is monitoring Lampard's situation after his fall out with AVB and recent reports that he wants out and could be headed to West Ham..........~ jms {Ed007's Note - Every team in England are being linked with Ba, sounds like a bit of flavour of the month to me. West Ham couldn't afford the wages Lampard is still looking for.}
Believable4
Unbelievable1
Demba Ba for Berbatov and a fringe player, I would support something along that line. Certainly a handful and a bit more stronger than Danny Welbeck. However, personally feel its more press talk than anything else as I think Pardew would get lynched if he let him go now.
Agree2
Disagree2
I think the Welbeck/Rooney partnership has been really promising when they have played together and hopefully now both are fit it could really gather some pace. With Hernandez to come on and stretch teams we got 3 partnerships that would all work.
If Ba came in he would want to be a regular and I don't think SAF could promise/guarantee that. I'd like another youngster maybe to make a 4th striker or someone 'world class' such as Higuain who would obviously start with Rooney but is used to a rotation system as he has done at Real Madrid.
Just my opinion tho.

or does the ed and all other british football fans think the step up in class from th epl to the spl would be too great id personally take him over rasmus elm for example nand he would over more than gibson and andersson cjwales82 {Ed007's Note - Ki won't be going anywhere until the summer after Kayal was ruled out for the rest of the season. Villa were meant to be interested but they couldn't afford the deal and Ki has said he doesn't want to leave CFC in this window.}

Ed 002 was wondering if you know of any United interest in Alan Dzagoev of CSKA.
From what i have read he is out of contract in summer and supposedly United are interested ??
Devil Dust. {Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this year. As he plays in Russia, it is not possible for him to be out of contract in the summer.}
Believable3
Unbelievable1
Well whenever their season ends then...is he out of contract in 2012 ?
Can I take it that you are not aware of any interest from United ?
Devil Dust. {Ed002's Note - He plays in Russia so all contract will run to December, like the all run to June in Western Europe. I don't know of any confirmed interest but, as I have said before, I would not be surprised if Manchester United become interested in the player.}
Agree2
Disagree0
Part of the rights of his transfer belong to abramovich, dzagoev himself wants to play in Spain , so in England only chelsea is a possibility
Agree0

I think United have scouted him a few times, could be thinking of a different player but im sure it's Dzagoev I'm thinking of. Chelsea and Roma have scouted him closely too, that's to my knowledge anyway. I don't think United are making a move for him though.

Believable5

United are still interested in Modric. But united obviously have a budget which is now not as good as it should of been with an early CL exit. Modric will not move anywhere in Jan, if tottenham qualify for CL then he will probably stay beyond the summer. If they don't, then there is every chance he will move then.

ed002, is it true what harry redknapp said about demba ba having a release clause of under 7m, if so this surely represents value for money, and SAF can't use the no value excuse cos he is class and arguably one of the best strikers in the prem. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the details of Demba Ba's contract are, sorry.}

He has a release clause of 10 million, but that is only for Champions League teams. Yes United and City could still buy him as we Qualified for the group games. Spurs couldn't buy him for 10 million for example as they weren't in the CL this season.

We have to be careful about jumping on the Demba Ba bandagon. Yes he has done well so far this season but lets not forget James Beattie once scored 23 goals in 2002-03. Im not saying that Ba is quite as bad as Beattie but one swallow doesnt make a summer especially when we are only just over half way through said summer.

I know this is a big ask but is fergie considering signing kaka? I know fergie is usually against signing players 26 and up but i think his age could actually benefit us considering we should have pogba and morrison coming through to the first team in the near future. If not I think we need someone of the same standard in the middle because with cleverley out we are missing creative flair in the middle of the pitch.

Hate to break this to ya pal, but consensus is that Pgba and Morrison are both leaving the club ..
and given trecent team selections i'd say it looks rather like it ..!

Iv heard rumours of pogba and morrison both leaving but I have seen nothing concrete yet. I am still confident sir alex will convince pogba to stay. As for morrison i think its more of a queastion as to whether he thinks morrisons behaviour off the pitch will continue because this would reflect badly on the club. Either way saf will do the right thing for manchester united as he always does.

Pogba himself has come out fairly recently saying that his first and only goal right now is to become a united regular and a great player for the club.
United I think have an option of an extra 12 months on his contract which they will probably exercise anyway.
Don't be surprised that both players sign new contracts fairly soon in the presence of their greedy agents.

I hate to say this but this transfe window we will sign nobody! Scholes was a short term answer to help us along until the end of the season. To be honest and Scholes is one of my all time heroes at UTD I dont think this will help us greatly.
IMO opinion and I have no inside info or anything like that but we need two players to come in. It is obvious we dont have mega bucks to spend so why not look at Cheick Tiote or Lassana Diarra in midfield or Ajax's Jan Vertonghen or the more likely Gary Cahill of Bolton.
Ed 002 its over to you mate. What do you reckon?
Jay {Ed002's Note - Tiote may well be of interest but he won't be cheap. Lassano Diarra is playing fairly regular at Real Madrid but still may be moving in January or the summer. Anzhi have made a very significant offer but I understand Roma are very interested in the player and the player is open to a move to Rome - and he comes with significant baggage. There will be confirmation today or tomorrow that CAhill will move to Chelsea. I would still not be surprised to see one or two come in though.}
Believable1

Like the Ed said, Cahill will sign for Chelsea either today or tomorrow. I was told yesterday he'd be signing for them today, but could easily be tomorrow. Also Tiote wouldn't be a cheap option, Newcastle wouldn't sell him unless it was Carroll Kinda money.

for those who haven't seen it or those who want to see it again.
Then read this, a direct quote from the laws of the game from FIFA.
"Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force and endangering the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play"
This proves that under the letter of the law Kompany SHOULD be sent off.
