Opinions on Steven Pienaar? I think he'd be a good little squad player and offer something different, Would cost around £5mil max too!

For goodness sake! The last thing we need is another mediocre squad midfielder. We have only just got rid of Gibson and you want to get someone with about the same level of ability!

Would rather take Gibson back. Ok maybe not, but Pienaar showed how he is a big fish in a small pond at Everton.

I've always thought he was a tidy player and works hard, a bit of a poor mans Park, definatly not United class though.

Would rather not BUY a squad player with our limited resources. By a couple of marquee signings that will improve the first team, challenge the likes of Ando, Ferdy, Evra, Carrick to step up and improve, or become squad... That is how the team strides forward. Of course the other option is to take a punt on youth and gamble they will will make the step up.

Citeh and Chelski buy squad players. (as do Liverpool... But they play them in their first team)

Been playing in premier league with Everton , Real Madrid thought he was good enough but loaned him out
His contract is up at Madrid in summer so would cost nothing
Young and decent left foot

I do believe his main position is LB, secondary position LW. I guess Everton play him wherever because Baines is their lefty.

I watched him a lot for holland u21 at the euros ( my mate was playing for england so i took an interest) and he was outstanding at ACM madrid bought him on the back of that comp

I've gotta say I'm quite a fan of Baines at LB. A bit of an old fashioned type fullback. He's got a lovely left boot and uses it more directly than Evra who tends to faff around a bit when going forward. Baines is not flashy nor world class but I think he'd solidify our back 4. He's also english and got bags of PL experience. Only problem is he wouldnt be that cheap, if available at all.....

Baines would be too expensive as he will carry the premium for being English. I would rather spend £5m-£7m on Cissokho or Izaguirre.

Bastos isn't much younger than Evra so hope it isn't him. The Probability is that there is more than just one player he is looking at, perhaps one or two from each side? I think Hazard would be a tricky buy with so many suitors. Certainly a top player mind.

Thinking maybe fergie was interested in Digne (Young Defender from Lille) Hazard, Lovren and Maybe Grenier from Lyon.
