Ed's what is the chance of Song leaving Arsenal in the summer, United should be interested in him he's been Arsenal's unsung hero this season and exactly the type of player we're missing in midfield someone who can control a game and keep things tidy at the back.

United Till I Die 1987 {Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen.}

I haven't seen any of the game yet, but just because Giggs started and finished doesn't mean we can pin the loss on him. there are 10 other guys on that pitch who easily have the ability to carry him. yes the result is disappointing and he may be the reason they scored or that we didn't but the simple fact is that we win as a team, we lose as a team.

The Moon.

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Your right..

its fergie's or phealen's for picking him...

Agree0 Disagree0

Watch the game you may change your mind.... It's not all his fault everyone was shocking bar De Gea but Giggs for me was the poorest on the pitch tonight. How many times will SAF put him and Carrick in a central midfield two before he realises it doesn't work.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand that he's not best suited to CM, but at the end of the day if SAF picks him he can hardly say no I don't want to play can he, all he can do is give his all on the pitch and hopefully he does each week whether it shows or not.

I just think we're using Giggs in the same way we used Evans, Gibson and Carrick last season.

I personally think he should hang his boots up, he's a shell of his former self and I don't want my memories if his ruined by his current displays but at the end of the day if we lose it's a team lose not an individual loss, the same as if we win.

Lose Together, Win Together, Play Together.

The Moon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moon it's all good saying we win and lose as a team but come on giggs is not a cm and pairing him with carrick who is slow and immobile was a disaster. What has happend to the kid jones he looks like an average player. Even saf was worried from the first minute, he tried to change it and bring younger legs but still no energy. Wigan played good football and that's another team who showed us up. Almost every team is using the high tempo, press high up the pitch against us and it works. We have an ageing team in the decline and even if we win the league even the rose tinted fans can't argue we need some world class talent in the summer. We need at least 4 or 5 players to come in and 5 or 6 to go. I would include carrick, Anderson and nani. Saf needs to bring in 1 dm, 1 cam, 1 versatile attacker, striker and a lb and maybe a young player with potential. Big summer ahead and no excuses as we have heard the last three years. Every player is available at the right price but is the glaziers willing to pay that price?

Abs

Agree0 Disagree0

Enough is enough with regards to Ryan Giggs. Ive said it all season he isn't good enough. Sloppy passes, gives it away most of the time then stands there with his hands on his hips complaining, he's constantly roaming all over the pitch which unbalances the side and the games just passes him by.
I can't believe that we will have to put up with another season of that sh*t!
Do the gracious thing like Gary Neville did and call it a day.
How he can be picked ahead of Paul Scholes, Tom Cleverley or even Paul Pogba in the centre of midfield is a complete joke!
Get a grip Fergie and stop picking him!

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Ads, the owners have always backed SAF. We bought several young players last year. The only reason we didn't get a big name signing is because of the high prices teams are putting on their players. There's no point in paying £30m for one player when we can get several like we did.
We need to be going into these games as must wins, get the title wrapped up asap. Playing Giggs at the start is not our best option, let Clevs play or Pogba. They must wonder what they have to do to get a chance these days.

melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

Abs - You've said so much in your post that is just complete rubbish so I'm not even going to respond.

Simmo - I agree! I think he should retire now while he can still save his reputation of being one of the best ever from start to finish. But at the end of the day we don't know what SAF was thinking, Scholes may have picked up a slight knock in training or something along those lines, we don't know.

All I'm saying is that if we are winning as a team and celebrating winning titles as a team then we've got to lose as a team as well.

I understand the issue with Giggs but Carrick, Rooney, Hernandez, Young and Nani all possess the ability to carry not just Giggs but the entire team if need be. So I'm not taking we lost and it's down to Giggs BS.

The Moon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Melwing28, the young players we bought ie smalling, jones, de gea and Ashley young. The first three I understand bc they have good potential but Ashley youn is a player when saf signed I just thought 'what for' ok Sanchez flirted with us but I think there was no offer from us on the table in the first place. Why make excuses up and say ' no value in the market ' or ' only 2-3 players can improve us ' but clearly he targeted nasri

Agree0 Disagree0

Continued : and sniejder. There is so much value this summer as fair play will kick in soon. Youth was used as another excuse but most of them want to leave and have ie Morrison. What ever happened to ' if your good enough, your old enough ' instead we get an ageing giggs ( legend ) in cm and sometimes park. Scholes ( legend ) came out of retirement to even help us out and is doing ok, that is damaging as when we take him out the team collapses ie Wigan. I don't want saf to bring in any more average players this summer ie gaiten. As I said before this summer is the biggest ever as all the clubs in the pl will buy, also saf last team. Personally I would like to see Martinez, Rodriguez, Lucas/gotze/hazard, st, lb and maybe a young player with potential. To leave park, berba, carrick, Owen, macheda, fletcher(illness). I'm in fantasy land as this won't happen. We will see in the summer.

What on earth was wrong with fergie today?!
Did he actually want to win. To take off rooney, young and hernandez, while leaving giggs on is horrendous. I guarantee if we were points behind city we would of won easily. 5 points isnt a big enough gap. If we lose to city. We'll be 2 points ahead and we got sunderland away last game.

We always make things difficult

TRUMORS

Believable25 Unbelievable4

I cant believe SAF left Giggs who was ineffective whole game. I dont mean to question his decisions. But seriously though i feel like he doesnt want to actually question older players.. like Evra who is another awful player, Young had to sav him many times. Scholes would have been perfect but understandably he is resting, but taking off Rooney instead of Giggs! Only reason I can think of is, that he gave up on the game and wants to rest Rooney!

Tactical Man Utd

Agree0 Disagree0

Man utd can't afford to see wigan relegated as 6 points is always guaranteed against them. Hence the loss against them yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats presuming we beat both Villa and Everton in the meantime - not guaranteed buy any means

Man city have got Newcastle away i think they will drop points in that game.

Well lads, absolutely awful performance that. If I'm being honest, I don't want to see Giggs or Hernandez start another game this season. Carrick and Giggs in the middle just doesn't work. On a bright note, the only 1 I can take from that game is that Nani looks fresh and sharp. Onwards and upwards and back to winning ways on Saturday.

Hope not seeing as we play sunday. haha

At least we definitely won't lose on Saturday!

Have to agree, Has to be Giggsy's last season aswell. Simply not good enough anymore and Chicharita is not a starter he is a sub to bring on and get goals like supersub Solskjaer

I don't understand why Giggs is playing today( i know he is good at the opposing side with his clever pass but).. they have 4 midfield. ANd he is clearly out of position all the time leaving Carrick alone and Sir Alex only asking Rooney to go deeper even wingers r going back(ineffective)? Now we are playing like Bolton, because we are defending and defending. Clearly we need Scholes, if not give Cleverly a chance. Atleast there will be body to challenge for balls and Rooney can cause trouble in holes with Carrick and Cleverly spraying and giving back 4 some help. Evra u r s**t! Nani would be big gamble if we decide him to play and Hernandez had no effect becoz he cant hold the ball. So there defender r covering him and there midfield r attacking us. Watch B. Dortmund play... tactical best and most beautiful in the world( with the player they have.)

You would of thought S.A.F would know by now that playing Giggs in cm doesnt work, the midfield is all over the shop.no cover for the back four even Rooney has had to go backwards to see some of the ball.....Poor tactics and team selection poor first half

This game has got Nani written all over it, they're breaking forward with about 8 men
Saving gaps out wide, Nani on early in the 2nd half to utilise the space on the counter.

what a disgrace of a performance that first half was, we only got in the wigan half for about 5 min of that whole half, giggs is absolute useless as CM.
we should bring on cleverley and nani for hernandez and giggs and play young/nani behind rooney.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Im sorry Giggs should never be starting in the middle if the field. still 5 points clear if you would of said that 6 weeks ago we ALL would of took it.

Coach Rene Meulensteen says Manchester United haven't spoken about PSV Eindhoven's Kevin Strootman or Ajax's Christian Eriksen.

The Dutchman, a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson's Old Trafford backroom staff, admits that neither player has been discussed at Carrington, despite many rumours of United's interest in one day signing either one or both of the talented midfielders.
"The name Strootman is internally never discussed," Meulensteen told Voetbal International.
"We follow every young player with potential. The same is true for example with Christian [Eriksen]."
"I don't have a very clear picture of Strootman as a player. In England some media call him 'the new Roy Keane' but that seems like nonsense to me.
"Strootman does have the physique for English football, but whether he would fit in well, I cannot say before I know more about him."

Never believe what Rene says, last season he said Stekelenburg was our first choice goalkeeping target. If he said we're not after Strootman then we probably are lol

In terms of quality attacking midfielders, i think that there are three main avenues that are worth pursuing as a transfer is possible.

Those that i see being 'getable' are Eriksen, Hazard, Lucas Moura or Muniain. I would like to see Eriksen or Hazard as a priority. Eriksen may be more likely though as he would be considerably cheaper than Hazard.

Playing either Hazard or Eriksen behind Rooney would solve the problem that we would have in finding a world class striker.

Ed what do you think the likelihood is of us putting in a big bid for Martinez and Muniain? You have said that Muniain was offered around Europe so it would seem that they would be willing to get rid, thoughts? {Ed002's Note - About zero.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Someone said he heard Pogba would rather stay, but Minola is pushing him towards Juventus.

This makes sense to me. If he really wanted to go there he could have signed the contract a long time ago and be done with it.

So either he already signed and noone knows about it, or he doesn't want to leave.
Or worst case, he wants to move within the PL and is just biding his time to be able to (officially) speak to other teams.

Does anyone think we need a world class goalscorer with owen and berbatov due to leave and with welbeck yet to prove his worth ? If rooney got injured id be worried so i hope wd get some like cavanni wiv slso hazzard and marinez ?

I can't understand why Iker Munian's name hasn't cropped up more, i see SAF finishing his rebuild this summer to the tune of a center back, a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder. These are likely to be the following:

CB - Dede
CM - Strootman
CAM - Rodriguez/Munian

Personally i would go for Muniain, he is a fantastic player and would work a lot harder than Hazard would.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Not cropped up more? May I suggest you have been reading the Aston Villa pages by mistake? ;) His name is mentioned every 5 minutes on here. Though he wouldnt be my first choice.

TK-Red

Ferdinand has said he wants to stay then we have Vidic who is world class Evans who is in the form of his life as well as the future defensive partnership of Smalling and Jones already at the club so why the hell would we want another CB? why not sign two more GK while were at it.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

In fairness to the OP, we were looking at another center back in the summer, if we have a target in mind then its best to move and bed him in slowly in what will probably be Ferdinand's last season.

Mesut Ozil is our number one target this summer, this may surprise you. We have been tracking him since the World Cup, even though he turned us down for Madrid, SAF wants him to play behind Rooney. He will be our ONLY signing for £35-40 million.

Believable4 Unbelievable21

Euros maybe, but not sterling.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a big mistake, he is good but he cant last more than 60-70 mins in la liga, the premiership would kill him

Agree0 Disagree0

Tell me why he would sign for us now, and not then...

Steffen

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you really think that this would be possible Sydney? It probably is the attacking midfielder that SAF wants, but is it likely?

I can't see SAF paying that much for him, not to mention he his wanting to bring in a few players

dont know wether this is true or not but alot of my friends at carrington seem to think we will sign kurt zouma from as ettiene ive seen him play a few times and he does look like some talent , strong , fast , tall , good with the ball at his feet and hes french so he could help le pog settle more ? what use think ? {Ed002's Note - He won't be signing anytime soon.}

Believable1 Unbelievable5

He has been watched, but we will let him develop more at his club where he is getting first team action before we consider a move. I am a Saint-Etienne fan/follower whatever you want to call it and he is a good CB, looking forward to see him in action next year.
