Can someone tell me, maybe the Eds if we are linked with Juventus' Chiellini, I've not heard anything, but he'd be an ideal replacement for the elder Ferdinand, Chiellini is quick, strong, and has the tactical attitude to change a game for his team not forgetting his unbelievable aerial attacking! I don't know the age of him, but I think, despite him being close to red carded vs Spain, he starred for his nation, and I've watched a few Serie A games on ESPN and he has been brilliant for the last few seasons! Someone get back to me, ad maybe a value of him?

MUTID {Ed007's Note - I don't know of any interest in him, sorry.}

Believable3 Unbelievable15

Been linked with him before - this is from Jan 2010...
Manchester United and neighbours City are both courting Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.
The Italy international's agent was at the thrilling Carling Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday night, revealing that both clubs had invited him to the match.
The agent, Davide Lippi, stayed in England after the match for talks with Tottenham Hotspur, though he did not say whether Chiellini was the subject of talks with the north London club.
Lippi insisted a deal was not imminent for the 25-year-old but respected Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest United are making strong moves as they seek a long-term replacement for Nemanja Vidic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Signed a new contract last year and is juve through and through so there isn't much chance, More unlikely as juventus seem to be back to their old best

Agree0 Disagree0

One of my favourite defenders!

Ok so here are my thoughts. Kagawa is in the bag, fantastic! There is our flair player.
Powell looks in the bag but I see him going out on loan next season to the championship. I think Modric will be signed due to all the reports and lack of public denial from spurs. I then think Lewandowski is coming to united as why else would the polish coach say that?

For all this activity I see quite a few departures. Fabio on loan along with macheda. I believe nani, Anderson and park will all be sold to make space for the midfield arrivals. And finally berbatov will be leaving although I'd like to see how he p,erformed with mosaic in the team.

No source just common sense really.

Nik

Believable9 Unbelievable13

I think Berbatov would feel stifled around a mosaic, he would be much better with a nice tapestry in the squad instead

Jaxer

Agree0 Disagree0

Mosaic is just a bits and pieces player

Agree0 Disagree0

Your common sense makes sense to me Nik.

J - Stand

Agree0 Disagree0

Not common sense at all, you've believed the papers , that's the opposite if common sense, polish coach was saying how his players gave improved then quoted who they've been linked with in the press to show how they've improve, press just used the words that he's coming to utd

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

Nick, im a bit confused by the mosaic bit. What did you mean? Bookedredmole

Agree0 Disagree0

I would sell both rafael and fabio, they both stink. macheda stinks, sell him. those are three mediocre players who could be sold tomorrow and i would be happy

Bit of a waste of time mentioning benzema on here . However strong rumou coming from Brazil that moura has fallen out with management at sp. his dad is apparently going to take up safs offer to come over and have a look around the club. Source is from a Portuguese ref who got his badges over here . Used to try play but he was garbage lol. Good lad and no reason to tell pork pies . I do know he's a massive brazil fan . What is it with the Portuguese thinking their Brazilian ?

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Yeah something to do with an ankle injury - club vs country arguement which is odd . Never usually an issue over there. I think his dad just wants a free holiday. With saf away on hols it's a case of watch this space. He is mates with rafael and has been seen out with Anderson in the past . But so has half of Manchester. So not holdin my breath just yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm from Brazil and I'm a fan of the club Lucas moura plays.
Lucas Moura is so fanatic about his club that he played for Brazil against Argentina and after just one day he played for his team, São Paulo, in the victory against Santos.
If you don't believe me, please, feel free to check on the internet his name on the team that played against Santos.
He told the press that the fans wanted to see him, so he played... for the fans.
Better forget about him, at least for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Portugese were the first Europeans to 'find' (settle in) Brazil. Which I'm guessing is why they speak portugese in Brazil!!

Enough of the history / geography / linguistics lesson though. Great post and a real interesing link. Let's hope something comes of it :)

Well it looks like the Dortmund CEO has been really annoyed by the press, the press have probably made it impossible for us to sign Lewandowski. Thank the lord that the Kagawa deal is basically done as it wouldn't surprise me if he'd pull the deal just to spite us due to the press.

If the Lewandowski move is dead (or never existed), are we going for a striker? Welbeck is such a talent, but with Keane injured, King, Macheda, Lindgaard not really good enough (yet anyway), we only have the three and if one becomes injured we are short. Its also perfectly possible that we would have to loan out Henriquez for a while due to work permit issues so we may be on the look out for quality up front. Now my first choice is Benzema, but i have no idea who we would sign. I fancy that a striker signing will be someone that we have not been at all linked with, a bit of an Hernandez.

RedDevil19

Believable7 Unbelievable11

There has been conflicting stories coming out of Chile
concerning Henriquez ,some say he's going to join us
whilst others say his clubs Director of football has blocked
this move.I personally hope he comes to us I think he's
Special and he would be massive for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lindgaard isn't he a goalkeeper doh. {Ed007's Note - Jesse Lingard.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think our striking options will be added to via the youthful options of Henriquez and Powell. Both 18 so wouldn't worry the 25-man squad limit just yet and a sign of investing for the future.

Lewandowski looks a good traditional centre forward though and is the right age and money at 23 and £15m to be a good investment (a la Kagawa). Would be delighted if we got him but don't see it happening.

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Crewe's highly rated 18-year-old forward Nick Powell.

The clubs have agreed a £4m fee for Powell, whose representatives are finalising the contract, and United hope to complete a deal this week.

A fee of £2m will be paid immediately, with the rest based on appearances and success at Old Trafford.

so apparently powell becomes first of manutd's official signing

Believable16 Unbelievable3

Great news. Another lad we won't see within a country mile of the first team for the next 2-3years. And will probably 'change agents' and make 'unreasonable demands' before leaving at the end of that time-frame.

Ever the optimist!

If Powell and Henriquez are our new CM and ST, we are f******. Well and truly.

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree0

RED_SKY some positivity never hurt anyone.

MUMBAI_BOY

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, who says that those 2 are all we signing, ever heard of Kagawa?

Agree0 Disagree0

I said months ago we need some forwards for the reserves as the current crop are leaving one way or another. Powell and Henriquez would be amazing buys for the club.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

RED_SKY would you rather we leave the Powell transfer till the end of the summer (with the risk of losing him) and sign some 'bigger names' first just to keep people like you happy? The international transfer window hasn't yet opened BTW. Or would you just like us to sign players for NOW like City and not look to build for the future at the same time?

£2m rising to £4m is a fantastic price for a player who will be worth at least £10-20m if he is any sort of success

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember this statement of alan hansen back in 1995 " you'll win nothing with kids "
well RED_SKY have faith in united because Sir alex hasn't retired yet .

Don't think the Powell thing is going to happen

Apparently all the local newspapers in Chile are reporting that we have agreed a fee for Angelos Henriquez of Universidad De Chile.....18 year old striker....for a fee of around £3Mil. Dunno how true this is but could be exciting news.

RedMonkey

Believable21 Unbelievable7

Having checked this out last week it appears that we have first refusal on the lad and the deal was done with a Chilean club a few years ago. You can see him pictured at Carrington with SAF when a it younger...probably over for the Manchester Premier Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard talksh1t's south american 'expert' talking about this lad and he couldn't believe that Utd could be buying him so cheaply.

Apparently he can play centrally or on either wing and he's a very mature player for his age.

Just passing on what I heard but he sounds like an exciting prospect.

ED's...

Talksport are reporting that Barca are showing an interest in M'Vila.

Do any of you happen to know if MU are interesting and how strong this interest is, if any?

many thanks

OXred {Ed002's Note - Inter Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus have all shown a determined interest in M'Vila and perhaps PSG will become interested as well. However, he remains there for the taking of Arsenal should they make an offer that is acceptable to Rennes.}

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Apparently Koscielny is trying to convince him to sign for Arsenal. My feeling is he wants man u but Fergie is waiting until he is sure that Pogba will go to Juve.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many more midfield players do they want or need?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2012 11:47:51
A friend who works at Carrington

United are signing 5 players and the new manager is decided too.
Last season for Fergie - twice was admitted to hospital (severe nosebleeds each time) He is being replaced by Laurent Blanc.

5 players are definitely coming (announced after Euros)

Kagawa
Baines
Modric
Strootman
Lewandowski

This is straight from Carrington (He was visiting his Father who is my neighbour)

He told me it was De Gea last year 4 months before any announcement.

Believable23 Unbelievable21

What about Powell???? Find it hard to believe.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know why, but this sounds plausible

Agree0 Disagree0

Congratulations on reading rumours and papers and combining into one 'story'

Agree0 Disagree0

It never fails to amaze me how many people quote pre-knowledge of the de Gea deal as "evidence" that their rumours are true. How many people didn't know months before the official announcement that United were going to sign de Gea? It's hardly clairvoyance, is it?

DarkLard08

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah don't want Strootman or Lewendowski! Bring in M'Vila if Pogba goes and that would be perfect!

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sure he was fooling you.
I am sure we'll sign
Messi, De Rossi, Iniesta, and Ronaldo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey dark lard I never knew de gea was coming until he signed. Must have been the only one. But in all fair play it was raining and I was up a tree for 6 months !

Hi Guys
Eds,There seems to be growing speculation that Nick Powell is going to sign today.Do you know anything concrete about this.

Bazza The Red {Ed001's Note - the only thing I know, is that he doesn't want to move somewhere and not get games. The only people suggesting he is moving to Man Utd are Sly, and they have shown just how much they know with their nonsense about Hazard having chosen United and utter codswallop about Tevez and Carroll being swapped, Babel being flown about in a helicopter all over London on deadline day etc.
Powell is in talks with Crewe over his future, there are numerous clubs in the top two flights who have registered an interest in him. It really will be completely his choice, as all the clubs interested have indicated a willingness to meet the price being asked. I have no idea who he will choose, but my feeling is that he will give Crewe one more season, following their promotion and then see. But that is just my opinion, because, just like Sly, I have no way of knowing who he will choose, it could come down to the right manager being able to say the right things to him in private.}

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Saying that United will want him playing Championship football at least. Bolton or Blackburn on loan would be better. One year on loan to the Championship, then a loan to the EPL, then into the United squad when he's 20.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty much every source has said he is United bound, Sky are one of the last media sources to say he is United bound as others have been saying it for weeks. I cannot see why he will not sign for United then stay on at Crewe on a season's long loan if that's what he wants to do. United will turn him into a star.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - Crewe have already ruled out the possibility of him coming back on loan Syd. Pretty much every source? Funny that no source had anything on it until Sly started saying it, and their source? The claim that he is a United fan. No idea if that is true or not, but that is what this is all based on. Like I said, no evidence, no knowledge, just guesswork. It is one lad's personal choice, who knows what he will do? Everyone thought Joe Cole would join Spurs, it made sense, they were offering more etc, but he didn't. Players are funny like that, they aren't the most intelligent of people, as a rule, and so don't often make the sensible, intelligent decision.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The Crewe director or similar to a director said that he thought now was the time to sell him. I think he is likely to move this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very true Ed, players aren't that bright these days although United or Arsenal would be his best options to further his career. I heard he was a City fan, he would never get games there though.

What do you guys think of oriol romeu.. seems to be out of favour wit de matteo and played well in the begining of the season. would defenitely do well and is the sort of player who can take over from carrick. Who ever we bring in Carrick will be regular next term and anyone else will hold back cleverly s progress. i would prefer mvilla to strootman but we dont play with a def mid. in games where we really need a dm we canplay jones there. Romeu can develop into a good tackling mid with a good eye for a forward pass and will suit out style better that a conventional def. Plus he is really young. {Ed002's Note - He suffered illness and injury last season keeping him out until toward the end of the season.}

Believable5 Unbelievable16

I personally do not rate him at all. I think it is fair to say his ability is a reflection of him not being in De Matteo's plans!

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a complicated arrangement between Chelsea and Barcelona with escalating buyback clauses built in for Barcelona if he comes good. He won't be sold anywhere for a few seasons, certainly not good enough for United at this stage of his career. He had some good games, but then came back to earth and then got hurt...so, no.
