Manchester United have signed Benfica centre back Garay for 18 million

Velaro 1. 2
Garay 18. 0

Next one in will be Luke Shaw for 12 million.

Believable21 Unbelievable64

Heard Garay deal also, although it is only a deal in principle so far. Strootman, Thiago and Lewandowski to follow and think that will be United's dealings. Shaw has his heart set on Chelsea. Nani out to either Monaco or Juventus

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, this guy apparently knows first before everyone else and the papers who've we've signed.

Melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

So we are going to sign a 6th central defender, two central midfielders and a 5th striker, and sell a winger, but not sign a new winger when we don't have a single top quality winger as it is?

Seems sensible.

Thorne

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a saints fan and Nicola Cortese can compete with the big boys, we are not a selling club. When he turns 18 it has been pre agreed that he will sign a 5 year contract the super saints

Agree0 Disagree0

Think we will get Garay, a winger and 2 centre mids. Not sold on another striker arriving unless Rooney leaves. Everyone needs to stop bashing on people's rumours and opinions.

Nani sets sights on Juve or Monaco with Man United willing to take £8m for wing king

Out-of-favour Manchester United winger Nani has his heart set on a move to Juventus or Monaco this summer.
The Portuguese international has suffered an inconsistent couple of seasons at Old Trafford and is not in manager David Moyes’s plans for the Barclays Premier League champions.
Nani has attracted interest from Galatasaray in Turkey and from clubs in his home country but has told friends in Portugal that he would prefer a move to Italy or France.

Juventus and Monaco both have an interest and have had informal talks with Nani’s representatives from Jorge Mendes’s Gestifute agency.
United, for their part, want in the region of £8million for the player.
Reports in Portugal suggested that United have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Benfica for Argentinian central defender Ezequiel Garay.

Sportsmail revealed United’s interest in the 26-year-old last winter but the club distanced themselves from the latest reports yesterday.
Meanwhile, former United midfielder Paul Scholes — who retired at the end of last season — is still waiting to be invited for talks about a coaching role at Old Trafford. The former England star is expected eventually to become part of United’s youth coaching set-up.

"Wing king"
Surrrrrrrely some mistake?

Red Snapper

Agree0 Disagree0

How much did we pay for Ashley Young? He had a year left on his contract too didn't he?Similar players, one year left on their contracts and a big difference in price. We do always under sell our players. Probably could of got even more for Ronaldo considering how much Madrid spent that summer.

A Fox sports news reporter at the U 21s called Andy May said that he asked Thiago Alcantara whether he would be signing for Manchester United and he smiled and patted May on the back. Could be true, could be a pack of lies. Take from it what you will!

Nat

Believable44 Unbelievable7

Gutted. I just looked it up and apparently in Spain a pat on the back means 'I don't like Manchester' : (

Agree2 Disagree1

He'd have been a good signing to gutted also, Nani sets sights on Juve or Monaco with Man United willing to take £8m for wing king

from the mail

walt

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh dear! 'A pat on the back' could mean anything! Just because you googled it doesn't make it gospel that you it's the universal meaning! Use your brain guys!

Agree0 Disagree0

No name, you're an person. Pretty sure he was being sarcastic. not American by any chance are you?

Agree1 Disagree0

I get the impression that HoneyBadger was joking. a pat on the back and a smile definitely does not mean 'I don't like Manchester', regardless of whether you're from Spain, Japan or Bulgaria. I think its a rather good sign to be honest, fingers crossed.

Agree1 Disagree1

Did he do it with his left hand or right hand, that's crucial in the world of reading too much into things? Come on guys, it could mean anything from "wait and see", "mind your own business", "as if I'm telling you mate", to "I don't understand the question and please get out of my way, politely".

He's coming in my opinion, although we are spending a lot of time on defenders at the minute, hmmm!

Sween

Agree1 Disagree0

I know lots of Spaniards and a pat on the back is definitely a bad sign.

trust me, it's really negative body language in Spain.

Agree0 Disagree0

This rumour is Tosh. the response that supposedly Alacantra gave. For a young Spanish lad he gave a good old English- educated riddle -response? If he said them words I will eat my phone. Any of you checked his level of English? Might want to consider that even if a conversation took place. These won't be his words. They have been manipulated - and to what end. Sensationalism?
SHANDY!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata gets substituted Mouriniho pats him on the back looks like he's on his way lads!

Lols, it was a joke guys. Thanks for the replies though, made me laugh even more.

Apparently Mourinho might sell Mata (I doubt it's true. ), but how about a straight swap Mata for Rooney?

Believable21 Unbelievable44

So where would you play Kagawa?

melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

Id be up for that - I've had enough of rooneys attitude, it stinks!

Agree1 Disagree0

Sure why not do you want Hazard may aswell take Oscar too have Luiz aswell because Mourinho wants to sell all the best players lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take that, would lower our wage bill Aswell as IMO mata doing a better job for us than Rooney would for Chelsea, although I reckon if mata moved anywhere it would be Spain

19JackC94

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen mate 5-10 million i'd still swap

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw the report, and thought the exact same thing. Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

We can all dream. Mata would surely head to Madrid.

Piper

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know the answer, but does anyone know the last time there was a high profile straight swap deal. I can't think of one, so very unlikely.
Flyhalfmitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

And maybe we could ask them to swap Hazard for Bebe as well?

redseven

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd give em 20m plus rooney, not going to happen though, unfortunately

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata has more skill in his bad foot than Rooney in his whole body. Why would Mata take a step down from Chelsea to Man Utd {Ed004's Note - Maybe because he would be moving to a team that has just finished 14 points ahead of his current team. I for one second do not think he will move but I don't see how it is a step down and that just shows how idiotic your post is}

Agree0 Disagree0

Im pretty sure that Ibrahimovic and Eto'o Plus Cash was a swap deal.

According to Alistair Fergusson
(Editor for FA Premier League channel,
a website, ITV and C4), United are
close to signing Strootman and
Thiago and are still trying to tie up a
deal for Cristiano Ronaldo. CAN WE TRUST THIS?

Believable25 Unbelievable45

I really hope so but watching the under 21's I think get Thiago in first as a priority, such a classy player. Thiago, Kagawa and Carrick as a 3 we would be playing some brilliant football. {Ed004's Note - Isco has been excellent as well. I would love Alcantara, Di Maria and Isco with Rooney, Nani and Anderson leaving it would enable us to play some fantastic football, and if anymore signings made Strootman and Mendy to prepare for the future}

Agree2 Disagree0

Doubt Thiago will be allowed to move after his displays in under 21 tournement now.

Unkown mole!

Agree0 Disagree1

Very much doubt we'll sign all three.! rather we signed fabregas and bale

Agree0 Disagree3

The guy seems fairly legit, I couldn't find anything relating him to a website or anything but he has a picture with him and a few others with roy keane and also pictures of the PL trophy so seems like he could have his contacts.

He's saying United and Ronaldo want the move to happen but are struggling to make it happen and if it doesn't then he'll stay at Madrid which is quite straight forward I guess.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't get mu hopes up.

Is it just me or does anyone else think £25 million for Lewandowski in today's transfer market is a steal?

Believable58 Unbelievable20

I do!

Agree2 Disagree1

It's only the price it is because he's in the last season of his contract. If he had 2 seasons or more left he'd be 40m+. I feel we need to strengthen our midfield more than our strikers, but he is a very good player.
Mik

Agree2 Disagree0

In my opinion I think he would be a great risk to take, he's class undoubtably but could he slow the game down that we are aiming towards (fast flowing football) because he's a slow player he could co what berbatov did, hm food for thought.

Agree1 Disagree3

Off to Munich

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not a slow player at all mate bvb are a counter attacking team but also keep the ball well he would easily fit into united as our number 9! Felix

Agree2 Disagree0

Hex, I doubt he would slow the team down, Dortmund are one of the fastest teams in Europe and he didn't slow them down

MS

Agree2 Disagree0

Slow the play down? Have you watched Dortmund play? He is one of Europes best strikes, much better than Higuain and Benzema imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

If you watch how Lewy and Kagawa played when they were together, you would see that they didn't play slow at all.

melwing28

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes I agree sell rooney for 25 mill and buy lewandski. he's quick strong and scores goals rooney has been a passenger all seaon we don't need him anymore

According to a portugese newspaper we have a gentlemans agreement to sign Benfica CB Ezequiel Garay for 20 million euros (17 million pounds).

Believable34 Unbelievable11

We seem to have a "gentlemans" agreement to sign a lot of players.

Agree1 Disagree0

The same story was published on 3rd June, think there will be but will be just the paper trying to sell more copies.

I honestly can''t see us signing a defender this year and the gentleman agreement will be for next season.

apparently julian draxler is keen on a move to united chelsea real or barca, very pricey but he will be amazing in 2-3 years, 4 caps for germany already at 19 £38 million though.

Believable11 Unbelievable34

No doubt he is talented, but 38m!

Agree0 Disagree0

Where have you seen this?

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking at Garay on Wikipedia and it says that he's current club is Manchester United strange don't think we really need anymore defenders.
Gurn dog

Agree0 Disagree0

And there we have it, according to Gala we want only 10m euros for Nani. 8.5m in real money. Why do we sell our players for such low fees. Its madness.

Believable36 Unbelievable12

Because he's been absolute dross for the past 18 months, what do you expect?

Simmo

Agree1 Disagree1

Well he is useless on our books just get rid of him and have done with it he's shyte

Agree0 Disagree0

It's madness that a player can be given so many change and not perform consistently. Not to mention thinks he deserves a pay rise of a new contract.
Him and ando can both leave

Melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

According to Gala.

That says it all mate.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

That us a ridiculously low price, I would have opted for at least 15mil, for that price I'd be tempted to keep him and let moyes try get some form from him, until January at least

19JackC94

Agree3 Disagree0

Shappy, I think we should ask management or SAF how many of our players fail to shine
JS

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't we reject a much bigger offer from Zenit St Petersberg last season? I think this time its more a case of get £75k off of the wage bill. Nobody is going to pay top dollar for someone who has made limited appearances and poor ones at that for the past 18 months. Take what we can and, sods law will guarantee that wherever he goes he will flourish and become the player we always thought/hoped he could be!

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jun 2013 12:43:47
Its due to his form and consistency issues. If he was playing well we'd be able to charge a bigger fee. But then if he was playing well we wouldn't be looking to sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not about the fee. You also need to take into account the savings on wages. Not inconsiderable when you take into account his performances over the last two seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

19JackC94

Why is it a ridiculous low price?
What has Nani done in the last 18 months to say he is worth 15 million pounds?
I would take the 7 million Euros from Galatasaray now. Don't forget he earns about 80-90 grand a week, that could be used elsewhere for players coming in.
If they don't sell him now and he doesn't play again this season how much will he be worth next year. next to nothing.
Get rid and take the money.

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree1

I think the contract situation with a year left may have played a part. You are right though, we do under sell players we wish to get shot off for sure.
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree0

8.5m and reduce our wage bill (90k a week) sounds like a good deal. don't forget he has been poor for the past 2 season and he only has a year left on his contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

Simmo, Nani doesn't earn £80k-£90k a week.

Since he signed for us he has had one contract extension. MU do not pay someone £16k a week and bump it up to £80k-£90k a week. He will be on half that amount my friend.

Out of interest, who would you sign as his replacement? We done fine without him last season so any replacement will be an improvement, but what winger has caught your eye?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

"Why do we sell our players for such low fees. Its madness. "

I take it you are NOT a businessman, just a fan with a heart.

Nani is more inconsistent than most rail services. He's on good money, and a drain on resources. He never was the Apprentice Ronaldo we were lead to believe. Getting him off the wage bill, opens more possibilities for other players were we need tightening up.
Although I love Valencia to bits, he's on the slipery slope too, not to mention the twins.
Remember, footbal is a business, you can't be ruled by your heart alone.

Agree0 Disagree2

Wesley Sneijder had played utter garbage for a year or so leading up to 2011 and yet for 2 summers there were people on here happy for the club to pay £25million in the hope he would "return to form". Even an inconsistent Nani, in today's market is easily worth more than €10million. The only reason I see there is to take that much is to get his wages off the bill.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree1

Shappy you shouldn't believe everything you read in newspaperz son, most of the time they are jus trying to get you to buy their paper or read their website, mufc stated yesterday they recieved no bid and it would take much more thsn the figures stated
mick the red fireman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Natural replacements were James Rodriguez, Jesus Navas maybe, Gaitan perhaps or Bale.

seems the out and out wingers are becoming few and far between.

I would have sold Young before Nani though, and with Zaha coming in we should be ok. Depends on what formation Moyes decides to adopt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney, as for a replacement I think the best one that we could realistically get is Di Maria. However, after the recent story regarding El Shaarawy I would love us to go after him.

Ozzy

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani needs to go, simple as. Hasn't lived up to the hype or been a consistant performer. Then he demands a new contract with more money. is he crazy? He was asking for around £100k too.
Get him off the books, we have Young, Zaha who can play there, not to mention Welbeck can do a job and I'm sure Buttner could if given the chance.
