Chelsea have signed cesc fabregas, who now?

Believable18 Unbelievable5

I bet or I hope we have deals in place to sign players, Fabregas was a player Moyes wanted, just not what LVG wanted, so while I share your frustration, let's keep the faith.

Agree3 Disagree0

Stop kidding yourself. LVG would have loved Fabregas. He'd have been a huge first step on the road to rebuilding our midfield. Time to move on to the next target, I suppose.

What about signing isco? If Real Madrid were to make Isco available he would be priced at a level where all but a handful of teams could afford him. Real Madrid were recently discussing another player with Chelsea and he has been mentioned - and Chelsea might look to him if Oscar leaves. There was interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the past, but right now I am not aware of any interest.}

Must say that Chelsea are shaping up to be some team next year. Interesting to see how Matic and Fabregas do together considering Moyes tried to sign both at varying times.

What about placing a bet that van gaal, drops the same changers as Moyes did, and leaves it too late to sign any decent players. be same next season with no champions league. and what if we finish below 7th, will van gaal get the boot. we are becoming a joke in the transfer market, long have the days gone when Fergie used to hijack the player at the airport and coax him to old Trafford. hope to god I'm left with egg on my face, but I did also predict Moyes would not last a full season. fingers crossed for new players, but the signs are not looking good at this moment in time.

Agree2 Disagree5

Rumour has it United didn't want him and never bid for him

Agree2 Disagree0

There was a very good post a couple of weeks ago which argued persuasively why Fabregas and some other names being bandied around were unlikely to fit LVG's pattern. I have some concerns but it is a different situation now - Van Gaal has a reputation to destroy unlike Moyes. It seems incredible that he would risk this by a crap window. He knows what we have is not
good enough.

Agree2 Disagree0

LVG said straight away he never wanted him so I don't get why you are all moaning about we never even tried to sign him and I am glad we didn't, he is at a world cup atm so ofc we are not doing much atm wait for him to get back haha

Agree1 Disagree0

A large portion of man utd fans really boil my blood, why can't anybody have any patience. enjoy the world cup and then once lvg has taking care of business over there i'm pretty sure we will start to see some movement in the transfer market. all over twitter and football forums its full of whinging man utd fans half of them probably never set foot inside old trafford crying because we have signed nobody. give it a rest please

Question for 002 if around? MU and PSG are interested in Sanchez, Di Maria, Konoplyanka & Griezmann. Probably Pedro too, there are obviously other clubs that can buy these players, but it seems to be ourselves and PSG pushing hard for a winger/forward. Would you say there's a fair chance of us getting one of these players this summer IF they all move? Only your opinion of course, I know you cannot see into the future :)

Believable19 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I will try and summarise where we are with each of these players Syd - and you can decide:

Sanchez: There has been in Sanchez interest from Manchester United, Juventus and Arsenal. Barcelona will be willing to let Sanchez move on and would be open to using him in a player exchange deal. There have been discussions Juventus in respect of Sanchez and there is no secret that his agent has confirmed that they would be willing to meet the terms that the player desires. However, they are far from agreeing a figure with Barcelona for the sale - very far indeed. Barcelona will be willing to let Sanchez move on for a very significant fee or would be open to using him in a player exchange deal. Barcelona were looking to replace Fabregas with Vidal and were looking to that as an option whilst there is such a difference between what is being asked and what is being offered. However, with talks dragging on and Juventus wanting to keep Vidal their attention shifted from Vidal to Koke and then to Rakitic. Juventus has returned to talk with Barcelona on June 10 and have made it clear to Sanchez that they will keep Vidal but they still need to sort out the financial issue somehow - and this means they will sacrifice Pogba in order to get Sanchez and keep Vidal.

Di Maria: I am not aware of Manchester United interest at this time. I do not know if they have yet submitted a bid but Arsenal, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all interested in Di Maria. There has been an offer from Monaco and an rejected PSG offer, although they may well return with another offer. If he cannot stay at Real Madrid, the player would not object to a move to Italy should the opportunity arise and Juventus may give him that opportunity, perhaps as part of a package deal that could see players being exchanged. If not, he would be beyond the means of Juventus without them selling either of their prized assets. Madrid seem keen to hang on to him but Jorge Mendes has been looking for a deal for the player and has persuaded Real Madrid to provide a price at which they would sell him. He is however in danger of pricing him out of the market with some pretty outrageous wage demands.

Konoplyanka: Right now it is Manchester United, PSG, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Spurs who are showing interest and looking to negotiate a transfer whilst Dnipro are keen to strike a new deal for him to stay. Liverpool seem to have dropped the interest they had and have not spoken to Dnipro since January. Manchester United has made an offer for him but the player desires Champions League football - although I would not rule out a move to Old Trafford. Roma are pressing but have been told that talks are planned between the club and player and everything is on hold until that happens.

Griezmann: Whilst Griezmann has said on several occasions that he has no plans to leave Spain anytime soon, the financial problems being faced by Real Sociedad may still see him leave the club in the summer. He has had a good season which have led to enquiries being made by Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea. Manchester United and PSG had the player watched on more than one occasion and both are looking toward making a transfer happen. Interest from Juventus has gone due to the asking price and Chelsea seem to have dropped their interest. No offers have been made for the player.

Pedro: Barcelona will listen to significant offers for Pedro. Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are known to have enquired with his agent in recent months. PSG has spoken with Barcelona about the player last summer and in January. So there is really very little right now. It would not be a surprise to see interest from Liverpool if Suarez were to leave.}

Thanks for that Ed. Hopefully MU will make more of a push for a winger soon. We badly need some pace upfront along with the midfield and central defence sorted. I know you said MU will use three windows for the rebuild, but would it be possible in your opinion that a CB, LB (Shaw), one central midfielder and a left winger/forward will be signed THIS summer? Then perhaps a 2nd central midfielder in January (Strootman). Then finish off other areas next summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to speculate Syd. Manchester United have been looking at wingers but a number of those are not available to the club (Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Arjen Robben and Marco Reus) or it has gone quiet (Aras Ozbiliz). There is, a little surprisingly, interest in Sanchez. And that is sort of where we are.}

Thanx for the summary Ed. None of that sounds particularly encouraging for Utd fans.

Thank you very much Ed002!

Thanks for taking the time to do that summary ed! Great read

Thanks for the interesting responses Ed.

Have we recently been interested in Yarmolenko or Shaqiri, they seem gettable for one reason or another and would fit our proposed style well?

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Thanks ed for the info.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Very much hope we get Sanchez! Would be a player that could replace Ronaldo in terms of style, goal threat and pace.

Are the rumors that we have placed a 56 million bid for Cavani true? The problems he's having at PSG is that he wants to be the main striker but they are using him out wide. If he comes to us, I don't see Van Gaal dropping Van Persie, so Cavani is either gona play out wide for us or on the bench. It's a signing I would love, but not one that is essential at the moment.

Believable4 Unbelievable20

I personally don't think we were ever in for him unless we get rid of Welbs and Hernandez then still playing people out of position

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP will be out injured for most of next season so I don't think Cavani would have too much trouble getting game time!

Agree0 Disagree0

You are allowed to play with 2 strikers by the away

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would be a pointless signing. Rather let Wilson have more game time than pushing him further down the pecking order.

Just to let you know that there will be NO posts posted on here regarding teams/players or general comments about the World Cup. If you want to discuss or comment on the tournament please use our dedicated World Cup page here.

{Ed007's Note - It's bad enough on here the amount of posts that are just random pointless questions about players to Ed002 rather than people actually talking about Man Utd, hopefully this will help with that and not just during the world Cup.}
