Not long got back from the FAYC game at the bridge.

A decent attempt but we looked pedestrian for the most part. Too many dribblers and too shot-shy. Chelsea's defence did well though.

The sad thing is that this Piazon boy is a cut above the rest. Why is that sad?
Because he plays for Chelsea and will probably be wasted. Such a shame, why was he advised to go there?

Pritpal

Believable10 Unbelievable0

One big difference between the two sides is their size.
Chelsea have got a lot of big, strong, athletic lads. Some of them wouldn't look out of place with first teamers.
With the exception of Tyler Blackett and van Velzen our lads look like boys.
Physically it looked a bit of a miss match.
Agree about Piazon. Was wondering how they managed to concinve him that young players thrive at Stamford Bridge, lol.
Was a disappointing result but we have got some decent lads in the youth team so im sure we'll see more of them in the future.

Anyone know if there are plans in place to extend uniteds stadium? I heard there gonna run the train line under the newly extended Wing?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Heard a few months ago that United were in the process of buying up land around Old Trafford. Not sure which land exactly or for what purpose.
I think the railway line has in the past been a difficult obsticle to get around so relaying the line seems a likely solution.
I hope so.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been told that we're trying to purchase a number of houses behind the South Stand, and then (as the poster above says) build the extension above the railway line.

The one reason this is not being fast forwarded is because there is one house, where the man refuses to sell it as he 'listens to the game from his garden'....what a person lol.

MPez

Agree0 Disagree0

Negotiations are ongoing with up to 8 houses

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

To build over the railway line would be a major feat of engineering. The line is multiple track and carries the West Coast Mainline, a key line not only in the Uk but the European rail network. Line closures would not only be at a premium but would have to be agreed and booked years in advance.
These rail lines would most likely have to be spanned in one go (as there does not appear to be space for intermediate supports) which would further complicate the design and construction.
I have heard on the grapevine that any development may incorporate a railway station and a hotel.
I would love to know which company are proposing/advising United on this scheme and how they are remaining so quiet about it!
If anyone knows I would be extremely interested as I would love to be involved in the final design! (At my age the dream of playing for united is over but to be involved in the extension of the ground over the railway i could at least lay claim to be a mini legend!)

Manchester United will complete the signings of Eden Hazard and Javi Martinez for a combined fee of £65 million.

Manchester Utd have a £50 million transfer kitty and will have to raise £15m by selling Anderson and Dimitar Berbatov

Believable13 Unbelievable23

Would be good but unlikely i feel.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

£15mil for Ando AND Berbs?

This sounds unlikely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson will not go and Berbatov will go for 15 million alone

Agree0 Disagree0

Could I ask where you got this information from? Cheers.

Scrud101

Agree0 Disagree0

Never gonna happen! But nice idea though. The only players we have a chance of getting are ones the rich euro clubs either don't want or don't know about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thumbs up for that :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbatov has a price around £6M so a combined £15M is not unreasonable. Might get a little more for Anderson mind you.

We would also need to find money for a striker and a place in the team for Hazard has to put Nanis position in the club in severe jeopardy.

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

Would anyone pay ANY money for Anderson at this moment in time? He is injured right now and he is always injured! Who would pay good money for him bearing that in mind?

If he had been fit for the run in then maybe, but I just cannot believe that someone would pay good money for him right now

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt pay 65 for them too.

i rate hazard at around 27
an martinez about 25
50-55 would be fair.

TRUMORS

Agree0 Disagree0

To get Martinez, when s**tty, the chaves, Real, Barcelona etc are all after him with cheque books in their hands will take 40m or even 50 million euros. Hazard is in a similar situation and will go for 40 million euros, that's 80 million euros plus - around 70 million quid. I think we'll sell Berbatov for 6m, Machada 4m, if we can we'll sell that fat useless injury prone Anderson for 8m, 2m on Bebe and maybe Park for 4 or 5 m. We'll raise 15-25 m on sales and the Glaziers will give us 30-40m on top. That will give us 45-65m to get midfielders, a striker and a left back. Axel Witsel for 20m and Sigurðsson 12m and Cissoko 15m and a young striker is what I'd do with that budget. I'd sell Hernandez, as poor a player as your likely to see at OT and Young. !0m for Chico and 20m for Young That will give us 75-90 million. in which case With this budget I'd go for.
Witsel 20m
Lucas 25m
Wolfswinkel 20m
Cissoko 15m
total 80m
What I think we'll get - Javi Garcia 17m
the Palace right back for 3m compensation and Gatain for 25m = 45m

Right, this is a bit of a wild one, but is anyone hoping that Spurs miss out on the top 4 so we can have a look at Bale and Modric? Those two would be a perfect selection to replace Scholes and Giggs. No doubt interest in both men would be there, and realistically if we got a bid accepted, would they turn us down? I doubt it.

Believable8 Unbelievable12

I prefer hazard and martinez, bale is not godd enough and modric is not getting any younger

Agree0 Disagree0

God, i hope not.
Fingers crossed Spurs make the CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

I talk 2 a spurs fans and they will tell this, bale is great with the ball terrible without itlazy and wont track back same with modric, could fregie change with bale yes, with modric doubtful, lets go for young quality players such as hazard martinez llorente etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bale is great is great in fits and starts but modric is mediocre the modernity of the time.hes no scholes,he's no genius and never will be.

The other night someone was suggesting Guiseppe Rossi as an option.

I read tonight that he has damaged his cruciate again and faces another 6 months out.

He would not have been my choice but I am sorry to hear that.

Not my choice either Red Man but always said to hear of any player getting such an injury especially an ex player for us. Mort.

i'm one of those who is "trashing" gaitan as you put it. Firstly i don't think the guy is quite good enough. Is he as good as or better than valencia, nani or young? No, no and maybe. Is that enough reason to buy him. No. Also some people have said we shouldn't question fergie on transfers. Really? So we should blindly follow and think every purchase is good. So veron, berbatov, kleberson, oberton, djemba etc should all be ignored? Third. Is there better options? Yes. So are we buying him because he's the cheaper option. Lastly i do think the involvement of mendes as agent is a bad thing. Just look at the money wasted on bebe. Who benefitted out of that deal cos the club certainly didn't.

Believable10 Unbelievable6

Just tell me, how many times have you seen him play?? You will never be happy, if we sign him it's because we have scouted him thoroughly and the amounts being mentioned, he is hardly the cheap option. If we spend money on him we are overspending, if we don't spend then the glazers aren't giving us any money. Why not give him a season (if he signs) and if he's rubbish (which I'm sure he won't be) come on here and say I told you so, but I am guessing with a couple of good performances you will be saying he is 'united claas'.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Finally someone who echos my points. Iv been getting slated for pointing out the obvious. Like u said we have our own opinion and gaiten will add nothing to our play. There are so many options that are much better and saf and the club have no excuses not to buy top players because it's not gona wash any more. {Ed007's Note - It's always nice to agree with yourself ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one ed

Agree0 Disagree0

GDS i've seen all 6 champions league group games Benfica played in, both legs againt Chelsea and games against both Porto and Sporting. He never impressed me.

I think there are better options out there for example James Rodriguez, who has stood out every game i've seen him in.

I just don;t get why people are saying we should trust in the scouts and fergie blindly like they haven't cocked up before and i am highly concerned that mendes is the agent because virtually every other player we have signed that he has been involved in hasn't turned out to be that good a signing:

Bebe was a total waste of money.
Anderson: 1 good season and since then its been nothing but injuries, bad form and weight issues.
Nani: Flashes of brilliance but too often goes missing.

We've given Nani & Anderson 4 years now and a lot of fans oatience is running out.

Gaitan may well come in and have a brilliant first season, if he does then i'll hold my hands up, but given the option i'd look elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bond thats a bit naughty...

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed ha ha I forgot to put my name down.

Abs

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely spot on.
tbh I dont think we will sign gaitan bt the mendes involvement is worrying.
I understand and agree with the people on here saying we should back fergie and whoever he signs but anybody who would be happy to get gaitan and watch the likes of
martinez, hazard, mvilla, eriksen go elsewhere is clueless imo
surely a creative and ball winning midfielders are our priorities followed by a left back and a physical striker NOT another winger who imo wont add much to what weve already got

baby faced assasin

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan is better than Young more consistant than Nani and has as much potential as Valencia had when we signed him if not more and he is left footed which we desperately need. You say about the rubbish that we've signed through Mendes but Anderson was one of the highest rated youngsters at the time and only injury has held him back and Nani has been class for us at times. Bebe was a dud but you didn't mention Ronaldo for some reason, he turned out pretty good. I think a good relationship with an agent is a good thing if it means we get the players that Sir Alex wants.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm,
Nani, our player of the season last season. Yeah, really dodgy buy.
Berbs, one of the most clinical players we have, oozes class and brings a level of technique to the team that nobody else can. An awful buy.
Every manager makes bad purchases. Fergie's clearly had miles more hits than misses, but still people think they know best.
Anderson was a great little player when we bought him, injury and playing him as a CM/DM have stiffled him somewhat.
None of them are donkeys or bad buys.

Bebe....hmmm. a good argument for "try-before-u-buy". But you can't scoop Ronaldo's everytime you dip into the transfer market.

I bet Fergies bought 4 or 5 good players to every iffy one he's signed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same IP Ed? Funny if it was!

Shappy, it made me laugh as well that he didn't mention Ronaldo.

OP, why did you watch all 6 Benfica champions league games, 4 were on at the same time as United, I am guessing you did not go back and watch them all, just a thought.

Also, if you watched United in Europe this season would you say Rooney was good enough? Gaitain got 6 assists (I think) in the group stages, I am not sure what more you need to impress you!

GDS {Ed007's Note - It's obvious lol Even look at the writing style.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy Ronaldo stood out thugh as a player to sign and even he was inconsistant for 3 years whilst he adapted.

Anderson was highly rated and yes injuries have held him back, but is he worth having in the squad?

Nani has been class at times, but anyone we sign this summer its Nani that loses out, he's the most vulnerable. He's best on the right but Valencia is first choice there and Young could do a good job there. On the left well gaitan would be first choice there, so what we supposed to drop Nani to the bench for most of the season, not sure he'd like that.

Better than Young, yes i'm sure he is wide left, however i think Young is wasted wide left he should cover Valencia on the right or play behind Rooney like they do for England, we've seen how that works.

More consistant then Nani, well thats not exactly a challenge is it.

I agree we need a left footer, but again i say James Rodriguez is better than Gaitan.

Lastly i have my concerns about managers getting to cosy with agents, it ends up leading to deals like the Bebe deal. Supposedly paid 7 million, then find out half that went to agents. Its all a little bit George Graham to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy u only one here who talks Sence people watch a player play a few games and judge him and talk rubbish he is better than nani and young and I think at 23 has way more potential than Valencia who dnt get me wrong best out an out winger in world ATM but gaitan is special most techniquel winger out there his eye for a pass is far greater than all our wingers but if he signed web he lights the stands up at old Trafford all these people who think they can scout and purchase better players than fergie and his team will say aww he is amazing blah blah blah it's kinda pathetic all these football manager football fans we got

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to go against the tide and say I agree with the general point of the OP. If we sign Gaitan AND someone else in an attacking sense then so be it but if Gaitan is our "star signing" I will be slightly disappointed. If Ive said it once Ive said it a thousand times but Gaitan is technically a good player and a very neat player but I would prefer to see a player with more pace, penetration and trickery. Some capable of a turn of pace or a moment of magic. Im not 100% sure Gaitan is that man. With the risk of repeating myself Gaitan only seems to impress 5 games out of 10 where as someone like Hazard (yawn, I know) impresses me atleast 8 out of 10.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

TK thats my point, if it were say Gaitan and another player, preferably someone more central then fair enough, but if its just gaitan and he's hailed as the missing link then i'll be disappointed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan is a class act he is very similar to david silva of man shi##y goes past people very easy and scores goals from midfield which we desperately need .He was class against us !

Agree0 Disagree0

I too prefer James Rodriguez but at the end of the day i'm a barber not a football talent scout and unless you are then you may just have to concede that the people employed by the club may well be better placed to judge players than yourself. They have actually gone to the games to judge these players rather than just watch them in tv, they know what characteristics to look out for in players and can watch their off the ball and then be better placed to.judge their off the ball movement and work rate and other things that they're looking for in a new signing. We all like to think we judge a good player and that were good at it, I too am guilty of it but ultimately if we were that good someone would employ us to do it.

You say he's no better than what we have but would put him in the team ahead of Young and Nani so clearly you do.feel he is better than what we have he just isn't the "big name" player you'd like to see.

As for having a player who is all about speed and penetration on the left, isn't that what we have in Valencia on the right? Do we need two similar players in the same team? Or wouldn't it be better to have someone who offers something differant in the team to add variation to our play? I think so that why if the club feel Gaitan is the player to come in and he does then i'll be very happy and support him even though he isn't my first choice as I except that people within the club are better.placed to do and know what and who is best for the club.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

If Gaitan is our 'Marquee" signing I will feel disappointed in that another opportunity has been lost. And we face another year when European glory is but a dream. IMO we have two world class players, Vidic and Rooney. Will Rooney be content to shoulder the attacking burden for another year? Hate to say it, but look at the expectations on our rivals' sites. Our expectations are a lot lower!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe our fans are more realistic to what we can get atm due to lack of money. If you pop over to the liverpool page you can see that they have alot of delusional fans talking about players like Ozil and such coming to join a team going backwards and can offer nothing more than Europa league and mid table obscurity. If thats what you want why not surgest having a punt for Messi Xavi Ozil Benzema and Lahm? i'd think thats because your not a delusional fool and can see reality, and if your honest you know we either can't afford these players or persuade them to leave their current clubs. Hazard and Eriksen would both see us as a stepping stone for a move to one of the big two in spain as both have said thats where they ultimately wanna play, so do we bring them in build them into our team then a few years down the line have our team ripped apart like when Ronaldo left? We are not Real Madrid and we don't sign Galactico's we sign good young players with potential and we make them into great players and you don't always have to sign the obviously talented players in order to be successful at it.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Expectations are higher with our rivals?
How so?
They may have higher expectations in the transfer market, but thats hardly surprising given how much more money other clubs have.
I beg to differ if you think that our rivals have higher expectations when it comes to success.
City and Chelsea will out spend everyone this summer, so don't go getting your hopes up that we will try and match them. Spending stupid sums of money guarentees you nothing.
Think thats pretty evident looking at the league table.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think city and Chelsea will be spending vast sums (not unless they bring large amounts of cash in from player sales first) simply because of FFP Regs. Just look at the January transfer market and how quiet it was (the lowest amount spent yet).

I genuinely think (and certainly hope!) that FFP will continue to have an impact, which will be good for us as we'll become more competitive in the transfer market and the wild excesses of our rivals will be curbed.

Just my opinion of course. I also hope and expect that FFP will bring some sanity to transfer fees and players wages, which again would work in our favour.

Red Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

You disrespectful twerp! Stop questioning Sir Alex Ferguson and get back to your hazy 'reality' where your opinions hold any weight.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not rely on FFP rules making a difference until we know whether Uefa have the ability to carry out the sanctions.

Wait until they are tested , will it just be a fine or an exclusion from a competition. Have Uefa got the guts to exclude a Chelsea or City? Then lets see whether someone like Chelsea or City could challenge their expulsion in the European courts.

The other side to it is that you may then see large sponsorship deals like Etihad occur. Yes there are rules about this but how do Uefa stand on the Etihad sponsorship?

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

i think you'll find that financial fair play implementation will be reinforced by clubs such as bayern munich, arsenal and manchester united. and the reason is simple: these 3 clubs are the most profitable in football and they will make sure uefa do their job. why do you think david gill and karl-heinz rummenigge have been making 'noise' in recent times regarding the clarity of sanctions against defaulting clubs? they know they are better placed to benefit enormously from ffp.

I just wanted to go back to the Balotelli suspension let off.

If my understanding is right, the only way the FA could get out of reviewing the Balotelli on Song studs up, over the top, knee high tackle was if an official on the day had claimed that they had clearly seen the incident, and believed that appropriate action on the day had been taken.

Can anyone explain to me why an official would tell the FA that he had clearly seen this potential leg breaking tackle, and in his opinion believed that this was not worthy of a red card, when, even putting the most generous interpretation on it, nobody in their right mind, let alone an experienced ref or assistant could interpret this in anyway other than violent conduct?

In fact, the problem I have is, I would go as far as to say, it is IMPOSSIBLE, if an official had seen the incident, to arrive at any other conclusion than it was a red card offence, it was that obvious.

FIFA have rightly been accused of a lack of transparency, so shouldn't the FA be open and declare which official claimed this incident was dealt with on the day, so that an assessment on where he was in relation to the incident could be made in public.

I appreciate that all clubs get decisions for and against on any given day, it happens, the game is so fast, and so many players are adept at cheating, it is just one of those things. I also appreciate that fans always remember what goes against them rather than for, (the handball and penalty United should have been given against Wigan has strangely escaped sgnificant public scrutiny), but this retrospective decision making seems to be not only vague, but worryingly inexplicable to me.

We have seen what has happened in Italy, and, in my view we mustn't be complacent.

Believable11 Unbelievable1

The rule is that an official had to have seen the incident, clearly or not. If you watch it the ref (i cant remember who it was) he was leaning round a player and could just about see it but not properly. the fact that he saw it at all means that no further action could be taken.
joeml (arsenal fan)

Agree0 Disagree0

The only official who saw this challenge and deemed it not to be a red card offence was the same official responsible for Rooneys semi final ban last season,Mr Bernstein .

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly right.
There can be no other conclusion.

If the ref saw it, and he claims he did, then he needs repremanding or some sort of punishment for seeing a challenge like that and not even giving a free kick, never mind any type of card.
How can an official claim to have seen that and not act?
If he saw it, but not "clearly" then that sounds like not seeing something.
If that was evidence in court, not witnessing something "clearly" is unreliable evidence and usually discounted. So how can a referee act on something he has "NOT seen" clearly? He can't, because he didn't see it. Follow? :)
Clearly, he did NOT see it and is only saying he did to give the FA, sorry Bernstien, room for manoever.
An appalling decision made even more ridiculous when you see that Derry's red card from the QPR game did not get recinded.
How do these people get to run the game?

Mino Raiola did an interview with Sky Italia earlier today which provided the following quote "It's a tough decision to be taken by the boy. Remain at Manchester United or go to Juventus. There are chances for both possibilities. It's a big decision that can decide a career. It's a choice that should be done quietly. United are focusing on him, they want to renew. Depends greatly on the will of the boy."

So after the interview foreplay, TMW got to what they really wanted to ask the agent, whether Pogba is about to change clubs "I do not know. There is no specific time. When we're ready, we will communicate the decision to all.

"The boy decides. The choice between Manchester and Juve is up to him."

Surely if the 45m euro Gaitan deal is true that will include agent fees and his salary over the length of his contract? £22m fee, £10m contract, plus all of the agent fees/tax etc would be close to £37m (45m euro).

Does Ed002 have any new info on this?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - As I have explained on numerous occasions people become obssessed with release clauses and anything which helps point toward 45M euros. All it does is add strength to the argument that we should ignore everything financial because most fans simply do not understand them. Put the thought of 45M euro aside and reflect on the fans already trashing Gaitan. Should be a fun future for him.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Most would prefer Hazard including myself, but I do not agree with people trashing Gaitan simply because they would prefer another player. If the club sign him then it's because they feel he will improve the squad. We wouldn't sign him if he wasn't as good or equally as good as what we have already got. So who are we to question one of the best managers of all time? I think we will go for Hazard, but he will be much harder to sign that Gaitan so perhaps Gaitan is the player the club will target if other avenues fail. If he is first choice then so be it, lets give the lad a chance. Hazard is a wonderful talent, but he is also egotistic and does have a questionable attitude. How long before he is forcing his way out to one of the Spanish two? I guess we will have to wait and see what happens, but at least the club are looking and working hard to identify talent.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its actually interesting to note that phil jones, predominantly a defender, was acquired at a fee in excess of £20m (without wages, related fees, etc) and yet gaitan's 'alleged' fee of 25m plus add-ons (players, wages, etc) is being slated by most fans. what does sir alex know, eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd,

or are we signing him as he is a cheaper option than the expensive hazzard?

MS85

Agree0 Disagree0

As in do you think the funds maybe there for Hazzard IF SAF thinks hes the one? has there been any word from the club on the deal as of yet?

as someone mentioned earlier Mendes is involved so there must be something in it?

ms85

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed im sure you already have but would you be able to briefly explain how the release clauses work? from what i understand they're completely different oversea's :S much appreciated!

Gpot7 {Ed002's Note - I am sorry I don't have the time to do this today - remind me next week.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Or maybe bc us the fans also have our own opinions on who is the best for our club. Gaiten is a decent player but what will he add to our current crop, not much. If he is bought then I would presume it is the cheaper option than hazard who is younger and at 21 is more talented than gaiten, also has more potential. There is no quotes from anyone so it may or may not be true. No one knows apart from saf who he wants. Sometimes he does make mistakes ie bebe, berbatov and no one bats an eye lid. For the last three years we have been given excuses from the club everyone knows what they are. This summer is crucial that saf gets the right players as a lot of the squad needs evolving. So no I will not be happy with gaiten. My opinion

Abs

Agree0 Disagree0

Have watched Gaitan a few times this season and trust me guys he is not man united quality. For the sort of money that is mentioned there is defo better value out there.Newcastle or spurs would be a good destination for him, defo not the type of player that will make our club any better.Martinez or hazard for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can u say gaitan won't add anything he got a delivery like Valencia and better skills than nani he be our bet winger if he came in u joke hazard is only 2 years younger with a disgusting attitude and work ethic not a united player haven't got the right frame of mind

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not convinced Gaitan would be the cheapest option. At £25m-£30m, this is more than likely what Hazard will end up selling for. I think Lille want 35m euros and that will probably be negotiated at a lower price. So I do not think Gaitan will be the cheaper option. Certainly not much cheaper anyway. Pretty much every club will want Hazard, whereas a select few will want Gaitan, so I think it will be down to who will be the easiest to get and with the club's good relationship with Mendes it seems this one could be tied up pretty early on this summer.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon we'll all be surprised as to who sir alex goes for. someone like james rodriguez will probably come in. he's been mentioned a few times in the transfer rumours and he's the sort of player we probably will end up with. he's a left-footer with a good work ethic, grafts for the team, scores goals, and he has a bit of unpredictability ala nani style but less frustrating...

Agree0 Disagree0

I think hazard could go for 35, pastore did and i would put him in that kind of price range.
city psg and madrid are all said to be interested, if them 3 do get involved it could well be 35.
one other thing prices for players at the moment are ridiculous but when you look at the current market if i was selling hazard i would be looking for 30 plus
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

If hazard has a disgusting attitude then why has Lille got no problem with him. With players like hazard u need a bit of attitude bc that's what gets u to the top level if u want to be the best. I'm sure it's not as bad as ballotelli but something saf can work on. I'm saying this bc gaiten is not the player we should be going after, will be very disappointed as there are other targets that are younger and more talented ie Rodriguez. How can u say he is better than nani and has more skills that's a joke right! Nani is inconsistent but when he is on form he is devastating. We could potentially have a front four or five that will damage any team in the world if saf gets the proper targets instead of second and third. Don't give the crap of they are not available. We don't need a striker as I would put Rooney there with hazard, Lucas moura, nani/Valencia/rodriguez all interchanging and someone like Martinez holding and dictating play. Thoughts

Abs {Ed002's Note - Lille have had plenty of problems with a player who has walked out on games, refused to play and spends a great deal of his time talking to the press about the clubs he would like to play for.}

Agree0 Disagree0

'jred'

I completely agree about player's prices being high right now, but I am not sure the player's fee will keep rising in negotiations, it will be the salary offered to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't like stats but here's one
Gaitan 12 assists in his last 78 games I actual found this hard to believe

Gaitan this season in 25 starts he has 3 goals and 5 assists.

Its not the fee rising during negotiations it's what it's set at in the first place
If you were selling him and Psg city and Madrid were interested how much would you be looking for?
If it was just united arsenal and spurs for example they would prob have to accept less.
For me I would be looking at simalr amount as pastore went for , I think that would be a fair amount

Ed fair enough, but he can be tamed by only saf and get the best out of him. Attitude issues aside hazard is a better all round footballer than gaitan and he is younger and with maturity attitude will hopefully eradicate. There are much better options available

What teams like RM do is they get the player to say he will only join their club, then once the player is only keen on a move to RM they will offer a below par offer. This is why RM get their players cheap. It didn't work with Ronny and Kaka as they were loyal to their clubs, but they usually get their players cheap. Di Maria had a £39m buy-out clause and RM get him for £20m. But PSG & City will offer a decent first offer to get their feet in the door. If RM enter the race there is only one winner and they will get him for under £30m. City or PSG would pay more mind.

come on mate, ronny 80mill kaka 56mill zidane 45 figo 37 benzama 36 the list goes on they paid portsmouth 20 for diarra .
are you trying to tell me that if lille hold out for 35 madrid would not pay it IF they wanted him.
I'm also not so sure that if RM enter the race there is only one winner did hazard not say he would only move to a club he was guaranteed a first team start i thought thats why spurs were his first choice, or arsenal . In fact did he not want to play for united or munich, no wait it was barce that was his dream move.
I have a funny feeling he might end up at the club who pay the most money.

Also syd did madrid not get di maria for 25mill euro plus 11mill in incentives

Hazard wants to move to Spain so if RM come in for him there will be only one winner. If RM come in for him I guarantee you they get him for under £30m. Lets leave it at that my friend. Time will tell.

I do feel sorry for Berbatov he's never complained about being a sub most of the time he's always just got on with it. fantastic player just not United quality I think he will be sold in the summer

Believable23 Unbelievable4

He has the quality its his style that doesn't suit us. But he is one of our most talented players. I wish him the best with the rest of his career and thank him for the.memories like his hat trick against the scousers.

I hear that the Somerset Tourist Board are 2 donkeys down for rides on Weston-Super-Mare beach this summer and have enquired about filling the void with Berba and Carrick. Hopefully they will pass the medical and we can replace them with Llorente and Muniain

Agree0 Disagree0

This nonsense about players not being United quality pisses me off. How is berbatov not united quality? He is one of the most skillful players in the world.
But i do agree that he doesnt fit into the system. But still, if messi does not fit into united's system, does that mean he is not united quality?

Millz

At a time when were struggling to put chances away and welbeck and hernandez couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo, last seasons top scorer cant even make the bench.
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with millz he is a top top player incredible touch skill and pass just not the player that we needed to fit our fast flowing football

Agree0 Disagree0

Not United quality?
Berbs has been treated appallingly.
One of our most technically gifted players, a cracking goals to games ratio, great attitude, love's the club....and he's lost his place on the bench to a lad who has done nothing for us and can't decide whether he even wants to be here.
Poor show by United, i have to say.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately he just doesn't have the pace to go with our play style. Hes indeed very skillful and appears to love the club and it is a shame. He was a cracking player but just not suited to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's always been a fantastic player in the past. Loves the club and never complain abt not getting enough play time. Just because he's slow and all doesn't mean he's not united quality. Gotta respect the guy for what he's done for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbatov is still a much better player than wellbeck. He should be playing ahead of him. Wellbeck is a disaster, he can't finish and runs around like a headless chicken. How many chances does he need to score. He was terrible the other night when he came on and this cost is the game. He had enough chances to win.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has an amazing attitude, is technically the most gifted we have and has a great goal ratio.
He hates to lose the ball and therefor does not attempt stupid through balls, like others we have.

It really bugs me to keep hearing he is too slow!
He is not, he's barely slower then Rooney in full sprint, he just doesn't sprint into every space he sees, or after every ball he sees the slightest part of.

He is an extremely intelligent player and gets frustrated by his playing partners if they don't see the openings he sees before they are there, only Scholes does, and sometimes Giggs does. Cleverly might be able to develop this kind of vision, but all the others, yes including Rooney! play into the space which is open when they see it, not which will be open by the time the ball arrives.

That's actually what sets Barcelona apart from other teams, they put the ball where space is opening up, not where it is closing down.

Sad to see him leave, but he really does not fit into this United team.

Jonny8

Agree0 Disagree0

Should never have signed him, waste of money and because he's perceived to have flopped it handed the Glazers an excuise to tighten the wallet.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a truely gifted player, i think he would have done much better at United and his footballing career in general if he didn't smoke. He doesn't have the work rate or pace needed at MUFC.

I seriously hope these gaitan rumours could be a smokescreen for hazard..gaitan just isnt good enough at all.ive a bad feeling about it though especially with mendes involved

Believable18 Unbelievable3

Totally agree mate - its funny how there's no value in the market until Mr Mendes offers one of his (usually overpriced) players.....then we have no problem coughing up mega-bucks.

It's very worrying, if we sign Gaitan I'll be very concerned - not because I think he cant make a difference to our team......because it will be clear that SAF and the Glazers do not have the team's best interests at heart. If they do, Hazard would be our major summer signing.

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree0

Or maybe fergie thinks gaitan would fit our system better than hazard?

Agree0 Disagree0

Also have any of you actually ever dealt with a club transfer?! No, stop banging on about how he won't be good for the club, how do we know that hazard hasn't already decided to join another club? Also the few times I've seen gaitan this season he's already better than nani as he can actually deliver the ball into the box.

Agree0 Disagree0

RED_SKY you're an idiot. How are you going to say SAF and the owners are doing what's in the interest of the club? Have you got a brain? If Gaitan is signed he will have a good effect, point blank.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

All this talk about gaitan not being good enough for united blah blah blah.......what a load of crap........
anytime iv seen him play hes been great on the ball, great touch and vision...he's axactly what we need

obviously the people that are dissing him have seen him play 2 or 3 times tops or maybe watched the odd highlights here and there, or going on assumptions of what other people are telling them......

Daniel

Haha, calm down you child. Can't you express an opinion without resorting to insults?

Was Bebe an effective addition to our team? Coz that was latest Mendes contribution. If you can't read between the lines regarding with Mendes, fair enough.

To state that 'Gaitain will have a good effect, point blank' not only makes no sense whatsoever (learn to write properly, if you're going to accuse others of having no brain - 'full stop', is what you were looking for.....no need to thank me, that one was free) - it's ridiculous, how do you know? Nobody does, I don't know for sure that he wouldn't have an impact AND I STATED THAT CLEARLY.

Please show a bit of respect to people as everyone is entitled to their own point of view. There is 2 or 3 on this site that seem to forget that.

Yes he might strengthen the squad but its more about getting the best for the team and there is certainly more options out there.
