Last night the Daily Mail reported an exclusive story stating: "Atletico keeper De Gea to sign five-year contract with Manchester United as clubs agree £17.8m deal".

They went on to say: "Manchester United have agreed a £17.8million deal for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea." That sounds pretty solid, they sound pretty certain that United have agreed a deal, and De Gea is as good as gone.

@U-N-I-T-E-D F-O-R-E-V-E-R

Actually De Rossi will come in cheap. He will be in the last year of his contract after this summer. Also Berbatov will not fetch big money this summer for the same reason, makes no sense in selling him right now.

I think De Gea and Rodwell are pretty much sealed and will be unveiled very early and we will go into the summer looking at another midfielder and a striker. Sneijder or Modric could well be bought, especially Sneijder could be on the move imo as Inter are already starting look around at the likes of Ganso and even Fabregas (don't think he will move there though). You never know, we could get Modric if (or when!) spurs do not qualify for the CL.

Papers in Spain carrying stories of a summer move for KAKA to UTD. Talks in progress.

Great-just what we need another ageing has been. . {Ed002's Note - If Kaka does move in the summer I would expect it to be a return to Italy.}

"In my humble opinion Sanchez represents the change in Man Utd's pulling power. It is generally accepted that SAF was very keen on him, however he will probably go elsewhere. We may have money to spend but apparently can't match many others out there. Ho hum. "

@United really like Sanchez but he would be a huge risk at £25m+. We have made a cheeky bid for him in the past but like Ed002 has said, Sanchez may struggle in the EPL. This has always been United's worry and according to the Ed, Chelsea have felt this way too.

If United were willing to spend £25m on a player, it would be Jovetic that I would choose. He has everything.

Ed, any news on Jovetic? I fear City will bid for him!

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - No news on Jovetic - we know that both Liverpool and Bayern Munich have shown an interest in the player previously. I doubt that he would want to leave Italy though.}

De Gea deal is all agreed in principle. Man U and A.M have agreed a fee. Personal terms also agreed but the deal hinges on De Gea's decision at the end of the season. I must state that although all details agreed it may still not happen. Jack Rodwell deal also done . The last transfer will be Sanchez or A.Young. Sanchez first choice but is overpriced hence the interest in Young.

If De Gea doesn't want to come to United, and that's a big IF, Adler will most likely replace him as the number one target - NOT Reina. Kuszczak will more likely pull on the number 1 before Reina would

ED, SYDNEY, RAINFISH, Moon, Redman and other guys. .

Is there a chance that EVRA might have dropped his performances purposely so that he could get transferred in the Summer. . .

I'm not saying that's what happening but is it happening??

In my humble opinion Sanchez represents the change in Man Utd's pulling power. It is generally accepted that SAF was very keen on him, however he will probably go elsewhere. We may have money to spend but apparently can't match many others out there. Ho hum. {Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that. I will try and explain what I know to be correct and what is “rumoured” about Alexis Sanchez. We know that Chelsea and Inter Milan have made unsuccessful bids, and we know that Manchester United and Barcelona have a declared interest. Juventus had previously been interested but were hoping that (a) Sanchez stayed under the radar until a deal could be struck, and (b) Udinese would look kindly on an arrangement that included some cash and several players either in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. As an aside Juventus have proposed a similar deal for Javier Pastore. Anyway, there was a January meeting with Chelsea in Monaco and broad agreement was reached over the transfer before Giampaolo Pozzo said that the deal must include a loan of the player back to Udinese. Whilst Barcelona were apparently willing to agree to this until the end of the season, Pozzo proposed that whoever Sanchez moved to should allow him to be loaned back for 18 months – hence the end of any discussions. I expect that Juventus will not come back in to the picture. Although Sanchez has been watched by numerous teams including Roma, there is nothing new other than Manchester City preparing a bid for the player as well. They have, like Juventus, recently been knocked back in a bid for Pastore and are likely to aim their cheque book in another direction – this may well be Sanchez. The advantage they have, in addition to being able to match any transfer fee, is the ability to put together a wage deal far beyond anything the other clubs could afford or would be willing to pay. I suspect that we will see this wholw saga drag out through the summer transfer window as Pozzo puts the player on the market, takes him off the market, values him at €100M and so on. Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter will all likely remain interested but could well tire of the expected drawn-out negotiations. Manchester United and Chelsea were both originally wary of the player being not quite as robust as needs be for the EPL. Perhaps Inter will get their man or perhaps Sanchez will take an offer from Manchester City.}

1) A quote from AM's Miguel Angel Gil Marin;

"We would like him to stay here but David's future is entirely in his own hands."

2) A quote from Mirror football reporting on this story;

"Sources close to the top shot-stopper claim that Old Trafford would be his favoured choice."

@It seems a deal has been accepted and it's up to De Gea to decide what he wants to do.

In reply to:

"As I stated a couple of days back: David De Gea will be staying at Atletico. He is/ was our number one target, we had an offer accepted a couple of weeks ago but he feels he isn't ready to leave his family at such a young age. Our number 1 target is now Pepe Reina."

Where did you get this rumour from, the Back of a Corn Flakes Box, or something?

Everybody knows Pepe Reina will not be joining Manchester United.

Trust me, David De Gea will be a United player come this Summer, I am sure of it.

Daily mail exclusive that Manchester United have signed David De Gea on a 5 year deal. How solid this is, I don't know

@ As far as newspapers go Daily Mail is probably one of the best in terms of transfer targets for a club. But the they will write anything to sell papers. I haven't heard what type of money/ contract he would be on but a 5-year deal would sound about right to be fair.
