So Spurs supposedly get Hazard and we supposedly get Gaitan?

Obvious who's got the better deal there!Clue: It isn't United...

Believable4 Unbelievable13

Hazard is just using Spurs to manipulate a move to Barca or Madrid. Id be fairly certain he wont be in the Prem league anytime soon.

I think Cleverly will be a regular fixture in our line up when fit, but who do you think he should be paired with. Say we signed someone like Eriksen, would it be possible to play Eriksen and Cleverly in a central midfield two? Or does he need someone more powerful to play with like Martinez, Fellaini, Rodwell, M'Villa etc..?

RedDevil19

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Carrick & Cleverly this season, Pogba & Cleverly next season

Would still love to get a young talent like Eriksen as is it is a squad game after all, but playing him with Clev as only 2 in midfield would leave us open IMO. Would give good option for 3 in midfield tho' as in Carrick/Pogba behind Clev & Eriksen

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

We will NOT be signing Eriksen! Pogba will more than likely sign a new deal and following that their will be NO other CM signed in the summer. One DF and One FW will be signed with a few going out so dont expect us to ge busy!

Jay

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell and fellaini powerful my god I've heard it all now

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets go for quality(eriksen j.martinez) not quantity(gaitan ashley young etc)we need more from our midfield not the same old dross.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jay are you SAF's right hand man or something? You seem to know things only he or his close colleagues would know!

Just read an interesting interview with Andreas Peirera's dad Marcos where he said the admin error in registering his son is a blessing in disguise and will help his son settle in without pressure of playing competiteve football as he is only just 16,
I was surprised he said at PSV he was only training 4 times a week where at United it is 8 times a week.Let's hope there are some friendlies arranged so we can get a glimpse of him before next season
ARB

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Who is this Andreas peirers ? where did he come from and what position does he play ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Positive news then as I was worried it may set back his development slightly...still cant wait to see him ASAP!

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Andreas is a Brazilian born Belgium player attacking midfielder and we signed him from PSV on his 16th Birthday which was new years day.
However certain admin papers were not received in time to allow him to play any competitive games until next season
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

I would assume that he would be able to play for the under 16's as they are not in a league ,they fulfill a fixture against whoever the accademy side (under 18's ) play each week and i would think these games are classed as friendlies.

What about a midfield of Eriksen,Pogba,Cleverley and Gaitan as an option on the subtitute list?Wow! it will be excellent. Not even Barca.Well hope this happens.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Unless nani is sold only 1 of gaitan and eriksen will be brought in , but selling nani and buying eriksen and gaitan would be a no brainer

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its a difficult one, and i'm not sure that both Gaitan and Eriksen would come in. And i also worry that Eriksen will run to Spain at the first opportunity.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a good list, except for gaitan. But it still doesn't match barca's midfield of:
Messi, xavi, iniesta, fabregas.
Sniejder, cleverly, modric and progba sounds better and is a decent combination of youth and experience.

Like someone else has posted today. Gaitan is the one we are after, I would expect him to join early in the summer window. Great signing if it does indeed materialise.

United Till I Die 1987

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Mortified if we sign him.

I didn't want Young and he hasn't done well (apart from against the worst Arsenal team in liivng memory)

I was releived when the Sneijder deal fell through.

And now Gaitan!! He's not that good at all. As Syd said "decent"

Well sorry but we should be aiming above "decent"

Agree0 Disagree0

Above poster,

Share to express an realistic option then?

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

If it is true and it happens, it will be another Portuguese speaking player.

Supasub

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha ''mortified''. What a clown.

Worst Arsenal team in your living memory probably isn't saying a lot as i imagine you are a child...

Young played well at the start of the season playing a handful of games, he then got injured, and hasn't played a full game since.

It may be debatable who would suit us and who we need, but these are by no means bad players.

As Ports says, go on, what would you do? Who would you sign?

APC

Agree0 Disagree0

Did anyone else watch his performances against us because I thought he looked pretty useful. If he is only 'decent' and gave us a hard time what does that say about our defence and midfield?

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan has not impressed me at all. For the money benfica are going to demand, we could have so much better, e.g Eriksen, Hazard. Id rather have jose callejon over gaitan, he is much better and would cost alot less if available.

United have all but almost completed The signing of Nicolas Gaitan,as both clubs have reachaed a gentleman's agreement that he joins us in summer

Believable7 Unbelievable5

On what are you basing this?

JWalk

Agree0 Disagree0

If thats true then i feel slightly dissapointed, i think we were all hoping for someone more exciting like an Eriksen.

RedDevi19

Agree0 Disagree0

This is old news, this gentleman's agreement rumour started in November. It's called gossip recycling, his agent is Mendes so it could well end up being true, but like I said it's old news. RedDevil19, Gaitan is a decent player, though if he came in it could spell the end for Anderson.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't forget that this also originates from Talksport who claimed, through Alan Brazil, that Gary Cahill was a done deal to come to United. Also remember that a story came out over the summer claiming we had agreed a deal to sign Javier Pastore. I personally not that keen on Gaitan as he could be another Veron in that he does ok but nowhere near justifies his price tag. We shall see though.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutley gutted if that is true as i think he's absolutley average.

Wouldn't even make the top 10 on my wishlist.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan is very much like David Silva a creative player !

Agree0 Disagree0

Poor mans David Silva and about an 8th of the talent. Not good enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember the same being said to me about Juan Mata. Wouldn't mind him here now would you?

APC

Agree0 Disagree0

He did nothing against us and thats all ive seen of him,he was woeful at OT so on that i wouldnt want him but maybe hes better than what ive seen of him, would rather see erikson or hazard, obviously martinez and munian but we will see.

If Spurs were to get Hazard, it could be more as a replacement for Rafael VDV, as he is not getting any younger. Though i recon it will all hinge on Redknapp, I'm not sure if the special one would like to take over at WHL, but who knows, it could be make or break this season for spurs.

Anyways back onto our team, recent Ferguson interview suggests we probably won't be spending huge amounts this summer, however i think out of a long list of targets we could expect about 2-4 signings. Some key names mentioned have been:

Benatia - Cover
Kovacic - Potential
Izzaguirre - Evra's replacement
Jetro Williems - Potential
E. Torres - Potential (may be loaned out/back to Chivas)

Of course their is a plethora of other targets, but these seems to be the most prevalent and feasible. Xhaka is another possibility but i hope not, he doesn't seem like united quality from what I've seen.

The likes of Gaitan, Eriksen, Martinez, Bale, Modric are unlikely but you never know.

Future possibilities could inclue Iturbe (depending on his progress at FC Porto.. i believe a first option was secured on him before he moved there), Angelo Henriquez (still young, see how he progresses over the next season or two, very very young though)

I won't speculate on departures too much, but expect Owen, Tommy K to leave and Berba to consider his future... Scholes may re-retire, but again could choose to play on for one more season like Giggs

=v1=

Believable9 Unbelievable0

I thoroughly agree with more or less all of this post, i think that a center back, central midfielder and a winger i think will be joining up with us in the summer.

There seems to be alot of truth in this whole Gaitan rumour, i think he may come in during the summer. I think instead of a playmaker in the center a powerful player will come in - at best i'd love to see Martinez, but i feel Fellaini may come, just a feeling that i have!

Benatia i think will complete our trio of summer signings, he is real quality and can fill in all over the place for us. As for Torres i think we will get a pre contract agreement with him as he looks class. I don't think Evra will be replaced just yet.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

That has got to be the worst list linked to us I've ever read

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we really need a CB with Vidic, Smalling, Evans & Jones? We dont know whether Rio will leave yet and Veseli may develop into a decent 5th/6th choice

I'd prefer us to concentrate on LB and CM, and possibly CF (depending on what happens to Berba)

15million. Kaylem1300

norwich next after ajax who could be the new flavour next?

Grant Holt for 55 mill?

MARK85

15million not enough.

They let Suarez go for about £23m did they not? Surely Erikson wouldn't be worth more than that? {Ed002's Note - Making comparisons really doesn't work.}

Heard an interesting one that a deal in place for a spurs player this summer could not be sure who but are pretty sure a player plus cash deal again not sure which player but this guy is a friend of mine in a youth academy so I can't name him and he told me it was a conversation he overheard with a certain scout at one of his matches not sayin he is correct but this is a rumour site. If its true I hope it's bale SAF could do wonders with him in a short time an the player could be berbatov going the other way the only concern is cash I would give no more than 15-18million

Young Irish

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Bale and we will be top dogs again

Agree0 Disagree0

My dads mums nans son worked with a guy who worked with a girl who worked with a guy who went to fix the fax machine at the F.A. headquarters and he read a document about a player coming to us. I can;t name the player or the guy though!

What is the point in rumours like this. If you knew any of these people well enough for them to give you this type of info then you would know the name of the player. Come back when you have something interesting to offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would the scout even know what deal was on the cards (i.e. player plus cash) just because he recommended the player?
would he really be chatting about it around youth players? would such a deal even be lined up at the moment with Harry's future up in the air? is your friend making this up? are you making this up?

so many questions to be answered

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

As I said have no idea if it is true because it's a rumour and incase you haven't noticed this is a rumour site because if it wasn't we would have the best team every day every season and my mate told me this in passin I keep his name to myself out of respect now because A: I have no clue if it's true B: will not name a dear friend of mine and C: couldn't really care Wat you think those any of them points not make it a rumour or is simple word of mouth no longer rumours so before all the smart comment like these other plums please remember it is a rumour not fact

Does anyone else see these Hazard to Tottenham rumours as being a bit weird? They'll have to pay huge money for him. But if/when the do land him, fair play to them. Just wish United had went for him.

Eden Hazard has been widely quoted on a move to Spurs but his advisors might want to give him a heads up. He says "They are an attractive proposition with good players and a top coach"....well Eden, their coach may not be there next year and neither may half of those good players. Part of me wonders whether Daniel Levy is going all out to convince Harry to stay witht he promise of top players coming in during the summer, such as Hazard.

TK-Red

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Spurs were linked with him before xmas
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

We arent talking about rumours or a club being "linked". The guy mentioned them by name. That tells me that Spurs have made their interest more concrete in recent weeks. Possibly trying to get things lined up now before Harry is offered the England job.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry said he would like to make 1 major singing in jan .
hazard who had said he would like to play in spain then came out and said he would like to move to england but not in jan , the summer.
spurs dont make any move in the jan window.
hazard comes out and more or less says he is off to spurs.
i know its a bit of putting 2 and together but sounds like a deal could of been agreed before xmas
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah that could very well be the case but the timing of this Hazard statement is very convenient. If not a gentle reminder for Redknapp, lets not forget the player mentioned the coach, then perhaps it is meant to send out a signal to any potential future coaches aka Mourinho, whom had expressed a desire to take Hazard to Madrid not so long ago.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Or Bale is on his way out for silly money, so they can afford Hazard as his replacement and still have cash to buy another player

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Feb 2012 10:50:07
I think if the Spurs managed to sign Hazard, something would have to give..

Bale/Modric would have to be sold, one or the other.

I just cant see them being able to afford them all.

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Why not?

Bernard

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm pretty sure they gave the all clear to fund a new stadium being built recently. Won't it be an Arsenal story?

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

I was think just how much are they going to be able to offer Hazard. I mean they're going to have to increase Modric + Bale's wages if they're going to keep hold of both. Anyway, they don't need Hazard they have the amazing Louis Saha ;) ha

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Hazard would probably replace Bale as i don't think either would not want to be regularly starting...

However they could get rid of van der Vaart and play him behind a striker.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not, they have no problem affording both bale and modric right now.
Part of their funds would come from selling deadwood, this would also leave more than enough room in their budget to afford hazard's wages.
Lets not forget that spurs will probably be back in the champions league next season which will also put them in a better position revenue wise.

Millz

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard would be a replacement for Bale and Parker a replacement for Modric. Spurs also like Biglia and Kovacic. Modric could well be a United or Chelsea player this summer with Bale going to Barcelona?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

They'll probably qualify for Champions League, that's another pot of cash for them. As well as looking like a 3rd place league finish, maybe better.
They'll have more money to spend than we will this summer, barring any unexpected buyouts..(please!).
Even if they do sell Bale or Modric, i hope we don't get involved. Don't need either. We could spend less and get better elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redknapp said before the jan transfer window that he would like to make 1 major signing ,so the money must be there, also they offered big cash for augero and llorentie (spelling) so again must have the cash
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

A roaming spurs fan here....over the last two windows we have made 30mil from transfers and in the summer we expect many fringe players to leave (corluka,pienaar,dos santos,jenas, bentley). This will raise a fair deal overall, whilst over the last few windows we have made significant bids for aguero, llorente, mata and remy. Next season i think we are looking to set up in a 433 formation, as shown by attempted mata and remy bids, with hazard fitting this mould, in place of Lennon. {Ed007's Note - I went to Rome with Moneypenny once, lovely city mate.}

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Feb 2012 10:47:54
ed, even though its a long way to go to summer, do you have any chance of knowing who our most possible signings are? Thanks
HV {Ed002's Note - It is too early to say with any confidence although I am aware that the interest in remains in Benatia and a proposal was made (and rejected) to try and buy part of the rights to Adryan Tavares.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Was Adryan one of the handfull of Brazilian kids that were at Old Trafford last season for a visit of some kind?
Remember seeing a picture with five (?) or so lads sat watching a game at OT.
Could have that all wrong, working from memory here, may have dreamt it all.
:)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that Benatia will be a very probable signing, even more so now that he will not cost us anything (other than wages obv).

Any one heard the rumour about Evra going Bayer Munich?. That wouldnt be to bad Evra For Lahm.
Lahm is younger stronger and and has a strikers finsh. Kaylem1300

Believable4 Unbelievable13

You just assuming that if Evra were to go to Bayern they'd just send Lahm the other way? Hmm don't think so.. I think we'll hang on to Evra for longer, I'm sure maybe next year SAF might try Fabio out in the LB position more often, tis about time surely?

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

How stupid do you think bayern are? do you think they would trade us their captain who is still a top fullback for evra? Maybe evra plus a really good cash sum.

Millz

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Ozwald.
I hope we keep Evra, love him. But Fabio can't be too far away from getting more games, if he can stay fit i suppose. Also isn't Fryers a LB? He's shown great potential too. Assuming the contract rumours are all nonsense.

i know a lot of youngsters have been branded around recently and i would like to throw a name into the hat. matt lecointe for plymouth argyle is a special footballer he is a great prospect. i know hes only playing in league two but hes just been called up to the england u18's squad, the start of a very bright career. there is confirmed interest from big clubs including ours. however with plymouth cash flow problems i reckon he would cost no more than £2million, i just hope we dont miss out.
p15

Believable7 Unbelievable2

£2 million? Plymouth would bite your hand off! There is no way they would need to pay that kind of figure! Plymouth would entertain any reasonable bid for any of their players - they can afford to be too picky!

Agree0 Disagree0

Plymouth are not even sure of staying in league two, with their current situation they would be very fortunate to get 2 million, maybe 2 million including add ons and future incentives but even then you would hope to get him even cheaper.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a Plymouth fan I can tell you he's got some serious talent, scored an equalising goal on his full debut if I recall correctly.

As for the money, I would be very very surprised to see him go for 2m. We sold the likes of Gosling, Barnes, Norris, Ebanks-Blake and many other talented lads playing all over the Prem and Championship for lots less than this.

A reasonable price would be more like 500k-750k.

hazard to spurs rumour going around.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

He has been quoted in The Guardian as saying "I could join Tottenham, they are a great English club".

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Going to struggle to sign him with such uncertainty over their manager surely?

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if they did get him (which I doubt)...surely when he proves himself to be the world class talent everyone has said he will be he would be after more than £90k a week which is around their wage cap

Cant see it

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

If they are going to buy him that 100% means Bale or Modric is gone or 3-4 squad players are gone in the summer. So I doubt tottenham will get him.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

He plays left wing i believe.....same position as a certain Mr Bale. Expect to see Gareth at United next season maybe with Ashley Young going the other way as he has been massively underperforming since arriving from Villa

Believable2 Unbelievable16

I wouldn't imagine Scholes will retire in the summer mate.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

We wouldn't buy eriksen and kovacic AND Lavezzi. Firstly I've never heard or any interest regarding Lavezzi from us. Martinez would be seriously pricey, but I would hope he's who we get in the summer. If we did I would suspect that leaves money for only another player with a large price tage or maybe a couple of younger/ players in the ilk of Clyne, Kovacic, Izaguirre. I say we're looking at another spend of £50m not inclduing sales revenues.

Sanshine
