Napoli just put an 88 million (100m euro's) price tag on Hamsik, Whats up with some of the Italian and spanish teams with all the crazy money price tags ??

A.S.H.W.I

Believable37 Unbelievable12

They only come out and say these thing when they want to sell but for as high a price as possible.
Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

You turkey, when a team values a player highly, they submit a buyout clause that will put off potential suiters. Do you not remember Ronaldo and 80 million?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos if s**tty, chelski and the scousers are willing to pay stupid sums of money for players they are interested in (torres, carroll etc) then they just might get it and they are not bothered about ruining the transfer market for everone else at the same time

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you forgot utd paid 30mill for Ferdinand about 8yrs ago you sold ronaldo for 80mill but seem to think other teams should sell there best players to you cheap so tell us again who started these crazy transfer prices

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferdinand was the best centre half in world football so cost a premium. Ronaldo was sold on the back of the most prolific scoring rate a season has seen for well....god knows plus he was the best player in the world at the time so was obviously going to be sold for a world record fee. Hamsik is unproven at the top level as the Italian league is the third best league in the world. He had a poor world cup and this is he's best season to date. All that combined pretty much voids your a comments.

Agree0 Disagree0

£80 mil for the best player in the world is 1 thing, payin £35 mil for a player who been in the prem 5mins is sumat else

Agree0 Disagree0

The question was who started these crazy transfer prices next you will tell me veron was worth every penny of the 28mill or is that comment void

Agree0 Disagree0

Well with these stupid buy out clauses can u say any of these players are better than Zidane... That's what these buy out clauses are saying 100m on Thiago who can't even get into his first team

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, the question was WHO started all the 'crazy' bids and prices, I'll tell ya mate....REAL MADRID with the purchase of Zidne for 45 mil some years ago and whatever they paid for Figo. They started because at the time they were seen as astronomical figures. Now that is a fair price for a world class talent. Inflation my friend. So Man U didn't start the trend, they simply had to compete. Which team do you support anyway? A Torres buying Chelsea? A Carroll buying Liverpool or a bitter that pay anything they need to get a player? Arsenal are the only ones out of the big teams in the premier league tha havent bought into this spend spend spend mentallity.....but my they are paying the price, no trophies in 6 years. Moral of the story, money buys success.

Agree0 Disagree0

People don't seem to understand the point of these buy-out clauses, they are made so high to DISCOURAGE bids. Lots of European countries have to have a buy-out clause and if you don't want to sell that player then you make it a high price so even clubs with sugar daddy's will think twice before trying to poach the player. It's not rocket science people

Agree0 Disagree0

Napoli are hoping to become a big team in the near future would they really want to sell there star midfielder?
im also of the opinion of whats so good about Hamsik could name so many players id have above him and for a cheaper price,

and 5M for Shaqiri seems unrealistic he seems like a prospect his contract running out or something ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed veron didnt light up the prem but he was one of the best midfielders in the world at the time - so again payin £28 mil for one of the best at the time makes more sense than £35m for a player with few good games for an avarage team or payin average to good players £200k a wk.we may have spent big on certain players in the past but tose players were mostly world class at the time

Agree0 Disagree0

"Whats up with some of the Italian and spanish teams with all the crazy money price tags ?"

If you looked at the Financial state of Europe at present, instead of just the back pages, you would know the Euro is poor and Spanish & Italian economies are down the toilet. So BIG money quotes are because they need the money, as in their zone £100mill is worth about £60Mill

Manchester United are not pursuing a deal to sign Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder and never have been, BBC Sport has learned.

Believable22 Unbelievable47

What are Manchester United and more importantly SAF going to say to the BBC? The same BBC that fergie will not do interviews for? WS is coming

United TIll I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

This basically means 'we saw the interview he gave to ESPN'

MDJ

Agree0 Disagree0

MDJ

No, it doesn't. It means a BBC Journo has spoken to a contact within United who has told them this.

DarkLard08

Agree0 Disagree0

Well why doesn't the BBC name its source, all the article does is re-hash previous quotes about him not going anywhere. I could have done that
1/ if United are in for him it will be denied by club officials till completed
2/ The BBC are the last people anyone from United would go to give this info to, they'd go straight to the Sun who started this whole saga off, no?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be more inclined to believe this were it not for the fact that last week the BBC posted a story about us signing Nasri which turned out to be a load of rubbish. That said it would not surprise me if we weren't in for Sneijder - especially as there are so many talented young players around at the moment
T0MB0Z

Agree0 Disagree0

This is more likely to mean that United are trying to "save face". We wanted him, we couldn't get him, so now we publicly state "we never wanted him anyway". Now if we do sign him, it's a "pleasant surprise". Which basically means the agent and player reduced the wage demands greatly. And Inter said that the player wasn't going to feature as much.

Preparations are being made for the arrival and promo work for Wesley Sneijder. He will be a United player between now and Monday. Haven't been told about length of contract yet or wages but im hearing it's a five year deal.

Howard nurse on twitter BBC journo well respected says the following

I ve had confirmation that Manchester United are NOT trying to sign Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan and never were in for him #MUFC

Believable28 Unbelievable39

I find it hard to believe we were never in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's got that information from United, ofcourse there going to say ''Not in for him, Never were'' This is (at the moment) the big transfer in the transfer window. Sneijder will be a United player have no fear

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

Still not to convinced obviously the club aren't going to come out and say. But David gill was in Birmingham today to pick up his degree and all the journos were saying he's in Italy shows how much they know don't think where in fOr him until he signs on the dotted line and I see fergie with him

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive been following Howard Nurse for some time now, and not once has he broke a story. Hes always speculated on rumors and wrote about things that had been confirmed ages ago. all he is doing is repeating what inter and united have been saying to journos. the Sneijder deal is not a question of if but when.

MU19

Agree0 Disagree0

Howard Nurse is reporting on what others in the BBC have learnt. As I said yesterday, smokescreen. United rarely operate in public but often allow public rumour and gossip to protect them from other teams hijacking their real moves.

Utd have agreed terms with Sneider. 100 % true
Fee is 35m and wage 190,000£ a week. David Gill to wrap up the deal b4 he flies to the US tomorrow.

Monty m/

Believable25 Unbelievable35

Is this official or a rumour? do you have a source?

Agree0 Disagree0

According to fergie, this is not true... I'm probably wrong here, but after berbatov purchase, didn't Man united make an official statement that they had changed their policy not to pay large amounts of money for someone over the age of 26 or something like that? They gave a figure, i can't remember - i could be totally wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

This is not true please read SAF statement on SSN. i wish it was true

Agree0 Disagree0

Gill did say the Berbatov transfer will be the last of it's kind. He also said that we will target younger players and turn them into stars. But he did say if SAF wanted a certain player that didn't fit this way of thinking, that player will be considered.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't we look into signing David Villa last summer?
SAF admitted to that but the player wanted to remain in Spain.
Was he not 28 at the time and cost Barca £40m?
I'm worried about all the concerns everyone else has posted but we need that extra bit of quality as we can't rely on any of our current CM to make something happen in big games next season.

1redarmy

Sneider interest is a decoy
Fergie wants nasri and the "interest" in sneider is to pressure
1) nasri to put in a transfer request or miss out on his dream move. (we r buying this summer and are not waiting)
2) arsenal as they don't want to sell to us but also don't want 20mil loss.
Nearer to window close it gets more pressure on arsenal
If right nasri should hand in transfer request in next day or two

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Really? I think Nasri will happily see out the last year of his contract then take a huge signing on fee next summer. Wenger will take the gamble in the hope he can persuade him to sign a contract between now and January.
Sneijder is not a decoy but SAF is a professional and wont comment on a deal until it is done.

Agree0 Disagree0

Believable7 Unbelievable6

14 Jul 2011 08:54:51
Before we actually sign Sneijder which i think we will do, i think it is too big a risk for his age and the money he wants. Here is a man who never plays more than half the games each season and doesn't weigh in with loads of goal. Is he going to be able to handle the physical side of the Premiership and will he be able to do the amount of running that is needed in our midfield. Remember at Inter he plays just behind the forward line. I think it is too big a risk and one I would not take. Do I think he is worth the money? No. I really really hope this is all a decoy and Sir Alex will bring someone else in but unfortunately I believe that we could have another Veron situation, World class footballer who doesn't fit into our style of football and dominate the games as he should. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Believable26 Unbelievable12

I agree Rainfish. I'd be much happier to see a formal bid put in for Nasri of just over 20m to se if the Arsenal board relent. Unless Sneijder is going to cost a lot less than the figures being reported. Ryan

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont agree with you very often RAINFISH but on this I 100% do.

Red Knight.

Agree0 Disagree0

35 mill for a world class CM player at the peak of his career? We could get 5 very good years out of him. Sneijder, like Scholes, has never been known for his pace.
Remember, we signed Teddy at 31 and got 3 very good years out of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will back whatever decision SAF makes, but I agree strongly with Rainfish. The guy is 27, he has averaged just 23 starts a season due to injuries. His wages are criminal. I hope this is a red herring, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

We will never get another Paul Scholes, they broke the mould when they made him, BUT Wesley Sneijder is the closest available at the present time. You claim his age is a negative, yet he's only 18 months older than Rooney and he's not peaked yet and said he'll be at O.T. for a long long time. You say he doesn't score enough goals, Paul Scholes wasn't a prolific goal scorer but he scored important goals and ran the midfield which is what S.A.F. is looking for. Paul played for 10 yrs after his 27th birthday, i'm not saying Sneijder will play until he's 37 but 6 or 7 yrs is believable... Believe in Sir Alex, he knows what he's doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy is class. We cant win with you can we RAIN. Dont buy big and we get its all down to the Glazers. Go for big players and we get not worth it. At the end of the day if SAF rates this guy then I reckon hes nailed it and we should get him. Apart from anything else it sends a clear picture of our intentions to everyone especially in the CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another Veron? I dont think so, scenarios are completely different.
Veron signed when we had a midfield quartet of Giggs, Scholes, Keane, Beckham all approaching or at the peak of their powers.
Sneijder would be coming into a midfield that doesnt contain one player of the class of those four. He wouldnt have anyone to dislodge.
Yes he may still flop, but hes got a far far better chance of making it than Veron ever had

Agree0 Disagree0

RAINFISH - Can i ask who YOU want to see at the club?

You get ciriticised for being negative a lot of the time, and I will admit that sometimes I agree and sometime I do not

On the matter of Sneijder - yes he is bloody expensive, but he is also bloody good I don't think SAF is goin to waste money on him, he will do his homework thoroughly before buying as he has been burnt before

So, who would you like to see signed (of the realistic targets)?

@Ed002. Do you know anything about the Sneijder/ Nasri situation? It seems that just as the rumours for either started gathering pace, SAF came out and poured cold water over them by completely denying that United would be signing them and looked convincing as well.

So anything you or any other eds have heard on this one?

REDFAITH {Ed002's Note - Sneijder is without doubt a target and Manchester United will be trying to put a suitab le package together for both Inter and the player. Nasri I suspect will sign a new contract at Arsenal or possibly move to Manchester City.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Its an odd one REDFAITH. I just hope this doesnt drag on like the Sanchez/Barca saga because that will get very boring, if not already. Personally Im hoping its all a ploy so we can secure our real target, Pastore, without any alarms being raised. A guy can only hope eh? ;)

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

We are just stuck in a 3 way Transfer that is all. We want Sneijder, Inter want Pastore. The first move will trigger both Transfers and we will bag our man. Or we could be totally cheeky and just try and land Pastore ourself but I believe he only wants Italy.

Manchester United are close to completing Wesley Sneijder's £35million transfer.

United chief executive David Gill is believed to have agreed terms with representatives of the Inter Milan and Holland star, who will earn £190,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

Sneijder was forced to compromise on his initial wage demands of £250,000-a-week, but an agreement has been struck and the move is close to completion.

United owners the Glazers have sanctioned the £35m fee for the 27-year-old World Cup star as a replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired at the end of last season.

Chief executive David Gill met his counterparts at Inter in Zurich yesterday, at a scheduled meeting of the European Club Association.

It is understood Gill made clear United's willingness to pay £35m for Sneijder, with an official bid expected to be lodged within the next 48 hours.

Although Inter appeared reluctant to sell, they have accepted they cannot turn down such a lucrative bid and are ready to accept United's offer.

The capture of Sneijder will take United's summer spending to £85m, following the combined £50m outlay on Ashley Young, David De Gea and Phil Jones.

Gill was hopeful of concluding the Sneijder deal before he flies out to the US tomorrow to join up with the United squad on their pre-season tour.

Sir Alex Ferguson's significant transfer spending is proof of his desire to keep United ahead of the pack next term, and maintain their success on the back of last season's title triumph.
Wht do you say ed??

Shivam {Ed046's Note - i feel that Sneijder is a worthy replacement and i believe that he will add something different to the team and Sir Alex Ferguson is showing other teams that Man Utd are still a strong team that will become even stronger with these great signings.

Watching United play the New England Revolution. Ashley Young is being played on the left wing and is looking sharp, while Nani is being played on the right and looking rather wasteful.
