I suppose, if Carroll is worth £35m, then £25m for Rooney is fair. Pure tosh.

Wayne is about to sign a contract extention at United shortly

If he agrees to a new deal then he will probably need to either keep the same deal or more than likely agree to a smaller deal. I cannot see United improving his deal, not after being left out of one or two key games this season. I would have thought there would be stipulations regarding his fitness too. Rooney struggles with his weight and it will only get harder to deal with the older he gets. In a business sense this is the perfect time to sell Rooney. He has two years on his current deal, he is slowing down somewhat and at 27 it would be a good time to sell if the manager wants to shake things up.

Personally, I think Rooney is still a top player, but any offer over £35m could be too much to turn down. That would go a long way to rebuilding the attack.

I see that we have been linked with Andre Ayew over the weekend. I haven't seen too much off him this season, apparently he's been having abit of an off season. But from what I remember of him from a season or two ago he is a flying left winger/forward. He was a good passer and had good vision, not superstar stuff but a very good option. Could he be a better option on the left than Young? He'd probably be quite cheap allowing us to spend money elsewhere. I know Inter were interested in him at one stage and he comes from good footballing stock.

I just wondered if anyone else knows abit more about him, Mick I know your abit of a specialist on french football.

He is rated better than u give him credit for Shaps. Apparently being monitored by Real and Barca too.

Sorry guys - what position does he play?

I can remember him as a 21yo, but I haven't seen too much since. So I don't know how much he's improved since then. What are his best assets? I've seen him play as a left winger or as a left forward role. Is he better at sticking to the touch line and whipping in a cross or is he better at coming inside and becoming involved in the build up play more?

I'm normally pretty keyed up on players but i'm flying blind with Ayew.

I think he can play left back also which would make more sense, had a couple of great games there against us a couple of years ago.

It wouldn't surprise me. It sounds like a typical left field signing. Not too expensive, fits a need, not a massive name but experienced. I wouldn't be unhappy with the signing.

Wenger has been over to Marseille on several occasions over the past few years and has never placed an offer for him. This speaks volumes if you ask me. I havnt watched large amounts of Ligue 1 football over the past 2 years but I have to say I always felt the lad was average at best. I don't expect him to move anywhere.

Thanks Ed. I would be surprised though if he moved to Arsenal now, as I said before I believe Wenger did have interest but has perhaps others in mind now. Inter Milan would be a good destination for him.

We still rely on Giggs & Scholes as we don't have their replacements yet, we thought Sir. Alex would buy a replacement after Ronaldo was sold, but we had to do with Obertan. How on Earth are we going to Replace Rooney if he goes?.

Errrr how to replace Rooney? This is asking for trouble. I don't mind if he stays or goes, but replacing him I would go for Lewy (I know, I know. Bayern) and Goetze.

The same financial year we sold Ronaldo we bought Berbatov, Valencia and missed out on Benzema. If we sell Rooney we will spend well this summer.

Did we sign Garay in the end?

There was a lot of newspaper articles saying we did at the end of March but then it died down and not heard anything since.

Assume was just rumours
