A lot of rumours today claiming we have agreed a deal for William Carvalho. Can anyone please confirm whether this is true or not.

I doubt it is, but there has been a lot said about it.
Cheers

Not much help. But I really hope the rumour is true, even though its hard to believe because it's Talkrubbish breaking it.

Everytime i've seen the kid play he's impessed me. He's just the kind of athletic, rangey, powerhouse that we need in our midfield.

If the asking price is £35m. then pay it & get him signed!!

Dailymail are reporting that a deal for Shaw is almost complete at 30 million. Surely if these deals are actually going to happen, united officials would say something about it to give supporters a boost at the end of this poor season.

{Ed002's Note - The club are not going to say anything until there is some agreement on the price - which there isn't.}

on the other side of the coin, if a deal is announced and the player then doesn't play well, they will say his head is elsewhere etc.
I just hope it is not for that amount.

Just seen a few rumours linking us with Alex Song and was wondering if there was any truth in them at all? and would you all be happy if he did sign for us?

Believable3 Unbelievable49

Tbh fredo yes and no as a starter no as a sub yes

Agree0 Disagree0

I prey there's no truth in it, I want Manchester United back were they belong and its going to take a hell of a lot longer if there looking at players like this.

Agree1 Disagree0

No way - I'd prefer to hear that we were interested in Lee Catermole than Song. Would be a dreadfully average signing.

Ed002, any update on Lallana? Lots of rumors surrounding him and Shaw at the moment.

Believable19 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - I am aware of interest from Manchester United and Spurs - I am not so sure of interest from Arsenal. Chelsea has had the player watched on a couple of occasions and I suspect Liverpool has also had the player watched.}

I don't think many would moan if Lallana, Shaw, Carvalho & Kroos were signed. Chuck in say Garay and Arias and the holes would be filled.

Agree1 Disagree1

Thanks Ed002.

Agree1 Disagree0

Suggest you use logic for this "rumour". Both Lallana and Shaw likely to be on 'plane to Brazil in summer so Saints would be stupid to consider any deal until after the World Cup when their value could be much increased. Similarly, the players would have the same motivation as their options would likely increase-including clubs with CL qualification.
Neither will move if no change of manager at Saints.

Agree0 Disagree0

What would Lallana bring us? I don't get it. We already have Kagawa, Rooney, Mata and Januzaj who ideally like to play as inside forwards - what would the point of another be? If we need a forward it's got to be a more natural winger.

Ed's do we have interest in Barcelona's Pedro? Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona do not want the sell. The only interest that I am aware of is from PSG and Manchester City right now.}

If he ends up at City I will cry!

By far, the favourite player, and one of my favourite ever spanish players.

Aren't Barcelona banned from trading for two windows?

Ed002, you said in mid-January that our interest for the LB position was in Filipe Luis of Athletico Madrid and Yugo Nagamoto of Inter Milan. Lower down the page you have said we may go for Juan Bernat of Valencia or Alex Sandro of Porto. Are we still interested in Filipe and Nagamoto? or are we more interested in going for Bernat and Sandro?
My personal choice would be Luke Shaw mainly because he'll be the English number 1 LB for years to come, but given the fee being asked and the likelihood of us paying I can see it's unlikely.

Also, having searched for a while and finding nothing, what is our interest like in young Moussa Dembélé of Fulham?

Believable8 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - MU would ideally like Shaw but would need to negotiate a lower fee for anything to happen. The have looked at all of the others and Rodrigues and Moreno.}

I think I'm speaking on behalf of nearly EVERY United fan here. Pure and simple, Kagawa MUST stay beyond the summer. He is far, far too good to let go of. Can somebody set up an account for Mr. Moyes please? I for one will be absolutely gutted if we were to let Shinji go, or use him as bait for any other Dortmund player, even Reus! Ed's, do any of you know what the future prospects are looking like for Kagawa, and can you please give us some good news regarding the issue?

Believable28 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I can tell you that there is interest from Inter and that Manchester United would be willing to let him leave.}

I wouldn't be surprised if this happened and it would be an absolute disgrace if it does.
After a few game into the season, Moyes came out and said he had never heard or seen Kagawa before, or how good he was.
Now I will admit I seen him only a few times while he was at Dortmund, but I obviously read the paper and also watched the season he played for us last year. Instantly you can tell his technique is class along with his movement, plus you don't become the German league footballer for nothing!
His best position we all know is behind the striker but of course he won't really get a look in there, he's in the same position at Mata with that one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completey dissagree, if it meant a swap for somebody like Marco Reus I would swap him in a hearbeat.

Agree1 Disagree0

This is another example of Fergie's poor decisions in the transfer market. Obviously he has had some phenominal successes in the transfer market but some decisions have been very poor. E.G. spending £12-15Mill on Kagawa only to buy RVP in the same summer and hence ensure Kagawa will almost never play in his best position. Also I don't think Fergie understood Kagawa and what made him a star in Germany. similar to Moyes. Kagawa shone in a system that suited him down to the ground. Klopp employed a high speed, high intensity system with super quick transitions.Kagawa is superb in transitioning from defence to attack at speed, turning with the ball and playing to multiple quick attackers on the break.
95% of the time we don't play like that so he couldn't play the same way. The slower style we have played for 2 seasons has not suited him, let alone the fact he's started most of those games on the left wing where he has less of an impact anyway.

Anyway, for Shinji's sake I hope he goes back to Dortmund. We'll be losing a superb player but he's too far down the pecking order at No.10 to keep him. It's sad we couldn't have kept him and built the attack around him more.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd let him go too he's had 4 or 5 ok games and 2 good ones only.

Agree0 Disagree0

No you aren't speaking on behalf of every Manchester United fan, i'm a big admirer of kagawa, he's technically brilliant with an eye for a pass but he hasn't done anything other than have a few good games this year, his chances have been limited by moyes but he's still had plenty of chances and for every good game he's had there's another one were he's gone completely missing threw the game and been brought off in second half. the way some fans bang on about him you would think when he has had his chances he's been unplayable, sorry but a few nice touches and passes does not warrant such high praise. if dortmund would sell us reus as long as they could have kagawa as part of the deal then its a no brainer.

Agree0 Disagree0

As opposed to Fellaini, Cleverley as so on having 0 OK or good games? I'm assuming you only watch the occasional game that's on TV as to even suggest that a good option for the club is to let him go.

For me, if given a run, he will be as influential, if not more, than Juan Mata! The guy won Player of the year in Germany 2 years running before we signed him, in the same league as Reus, Gundogan, Gotze, Muller, Ribery (3rd in Ballon D'or), Robben, Kroos and so on. To sell him would be scandalous!

If this news on Carvalho is true, and we were to invest in a Kroos, Reus or any other quality midfield/forward, we also need to keep our other quality players who would compliment those kind of additions so well! Shinji certainly is one of them! But then again, we could sell him and revert back to 4-4-2 and keep going backwards. I'm sorry, but selling Shinji is plain wrong!

Agree1 Disagree0

Well you assume wrong, as I stated i'm a big fan of kagawa and i'd rather keep him but if we could get reus coming this way then its a no brainer, you can't keep reverting back to his dortmund form, do you think jose thinks torres is going to rekindle the kinda form which saw him finish 3rd in the ballon d'or in 2008, I highly doubt it. its all well and good hero worshipping a good player but he's got to start delivering and living up to his reputation at some point.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's also worth considering that if we were to go for and get Klopp as new manager (whatever you may think of him) he my well want to keep hold of Kagawa as he seemed to know how to get the best out of him while he was at Dortmund.

Agree1 Disagree0

I would not be against us using kagawa as part of a trade but I would be against us just selling him as there is at least 10 players who should be shipped out before kagawa

Agree1 Disagree0

Your not speaking for me i'd pay his flight home
