Any news on a potential move for Blind? Looked a great utility player at the World Cup and could provide LB and CB cover as well as playing his holding midfield role.

Agree4 Disagree2

According to Blind's agent, he's staying at Ajax

i am a sheffield united fan but I have heard that you will be signing vidal very soon!

Agree1 Disagree0

There must be something going on with Juventus. First the evra move, now a resignation out the blue - of a successful manager.

There has also been a sort of media silence in the last few days (at least in the newspapers, not so much on twitter!) which I find often happens when united start to close in on players. I think we use our connections with journalists and papers, perhaps giving exclusives and favours to those that co-operate with us, to try and silence the media when we get close to a deal.
Late interest from other clubs can cost a lot in terms of negotiating down wage demands, and worst case senario, a psg or man city might enter the fray and bid something ridiculous, as with lucas moura.

If this is at all right we may be presently thrashing out details and hoping to get the transfer sealed asap. let's hope conte's resignation has not alerted too many other clubs and we are able to get the deal completed.

Agree0 Disagree1

Do you not think it is possible that Conte may have been offered the itallian managers job and this is why he has stepped down I hope I am wrong and Vidal is united bound but I am not so sure that just because conte has stepped down it means we are going to sign vidal it could mean pogba is ready to be sold to chelskie.

Apparently we have submitted either an improved offer or an acceptable offer for Vidal in the last few hours resulting in conte resigning.

Believable63 Unbelievable26

Hopefully it doesn't drag on too long more, we need some pedigree in midfield asap

Agree0 Disagree0

Got headache with this Vidal story. we have him . we don't have him. juve want to sell. juve don't want to sell. think conte is next Italy manager that's why he left. I'd give Vidal saga another week, then start putting deals in place for alternatives. , nice to see van gaal at MUFC at last, but concerned he ain't had much of a break. looking forward to his reign, let's hope he has a few surprising new players up his sleeves. here, s hoping the glaziers hold up their promise of a bumper transfer kitty. cheers

Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting the reason for Conte's resignation is the final straw of Vidal's sale to United for €44m which was agreed after United upped their offer after confirmation of the Adidas deal.

Don't shoot the messenger, just saw Conte had resigned on Sky Sports & thought I'd investigate Gazzetta's website.

Mad Dog

Believable55 Unbelievable23

Maybe it's because he may become the next Italy manager

Agree2 Disagree2

Probably Correct Pancho, & being an Eyetie I hope so, but like I said, just passing on what is being said mate. Sky Sports Italia claim he would never have left Juve for the Italy job unless something was wrong, as his relationship with Agnelli was good until the window opened & he didn't get the players he wanted like Sanchez or Curado, (spelling) he doesn't want Evra either but reporters there are saying he is part of the Vidal deal. He feels undermined & has not ruled himself out of the Italy Job.
Like I said, this is not amazing inside info, it's in the Gazzetta & on Sky Italia, just presuming most on here don't have Sky Italia, so just passing on the news to anyone interested.
Mad Dog.

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah Mad dog I would like it to be because we are going to get Vidal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's hope so eh. He is awesome on his day. But you know what our transfer dealings are like, don't raise your hopes too much. Until he is holding the shirt at a photo shoot I won't be convinced.

Agree2 Disagree0

Conte was told by the board earlier in the year he wouldn't have to sell either of the players. The board have now changed their stance so conte has left due to that

Agree0 Disagree0

Hd nothing to do with out going transfer at Juventus was about in coming targets and lack of amibtion from the board to match his amitions for the club. the italy job was a small factor he expressed intrest to manage the national team last season b y saying 1 day he'd like to test himself on the international scene.

yes vidal may leave and maybe pogba but it was where the funding from those transfer would be spent that frustrated him. evra was not his 1st choice and di maria was his signing that he wanted but board said no due to he'd cost to much and his wages would be to much of a risk for the club.

Antonio Conte has resigned as Juventus manager.

Anything to do with Juve selling their major players? Vidal?

Believable49 Unbelievable12

15 Jul 2014 19:22:15
Conte quits at Juve, apparently after being assured wouldn't have to sell Vidal dame fella who broke mews of Conte as said Vidal deal is done!

Believable35 Unbelievable12

Which fella is this?

Was a journo from gazzetta dello sport

Eds is it true that Liverpool have rivalled us for vidal? I'm guessing he wouldn't want to go there!

Believable7 Unbelievable36

{Ed004's Note - I would doubt it}

15 Jul 2014 18:44:06
Do any of the eds know if we are in fact refusing to pay the 34 million for Vidal? I find it hard to believe that they would sanction 29 million for Herrera who was a player that was not known of outside the spanish league but refuse to pay a little bit extra to get Vidal who is one of the best central midfielders in europe.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

{Ed004's Note - I am not sure what is happening with Vidal but Conte has just quit. Apparently because of a disagreement with transfer plans}

I knew of Herrera and so did a lot of people on here, you should of wrote that you hadn't heard of him.

Agree1 Disagree0

I knew about him but that's because My friend is a Bilbao supporter. What I meant was supporters from other clubs. I know a lot of people who support clubs in Germany, Italy, and England but not a single one of them had ever heard of the player until United started chasing him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - As soon as a player is linked with a club all their fans become experts about him and he suddenly becomes 'just what we need'. If he signs it's a massive coup but if he doesn't 'we didn't really need him' or 'we never tried to sign him'. It's the nature of the beast. Before Herrera was linked to Utd you'd have been lucky if he was in people's top 10, maybe even 20, MF targets.}

I said a week or two before the Herrera stuff first broke that he would be one of my top choices. Vidal definitely the top choice and we could end up with both.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Ed007, you took the words right outa my mouth!

Hi eds, just wanted to say great job on the info. I'm reading here a long time. This is my first post.
Any truth that di Maria has turned down Psg? Also are man utd actually in talks with juve for Vidal or is it all just paper talk. Thanks keep up the good work

Believable10 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - No. Real Madrid need the money to buy Rodriguez and want the deal done quickly - to whoever.}

15 Jul 2014 14:43:28
The vidal deal is off as juventus are asking for too much!

Believable19 Unbelievable29

I must be the only one hoping Vidal doesn't come. Assuming our midfield 3 under LVG will have mata/rooney at no10, herrera, and a CDM, I would much rather see a good young CDM come in, such as Carvalho. Vidal is a brilliant player no doubt, but if you play both him and herrera, someone will need to play out of position, and for 35m or whatever with little resale value, I don't think Vidal is who we really need.

Agree0 Disagree4

Why do I get the feeling MAN_UTD is a lad from a country where it is currently morning and he is now reading a morning paper which gets their info from the Daily Fail? Am I close?

Agree1 Disagree3

Syd don't talk to Sir Ed Woodward like that, he is only passing on the very latest transfer related information, so that we, the supporters, are kept right up to date.

Agree0 Disagree0

Manu91,

From what I have read LVG likes his midfielders to be versatile, I think it is unlikely we will target someone that is only able to play as CDM and yes I think you are the only one that doesn't want Vidal.

Agree2 Disagree0

Syd,

He may also be someone who can't just RTFP!

Agree0 Disagree0

Manu91 - I know where you're coming from, it's the main reason I don't expect Vidal to come in.

If he does though, I think they are both versatile and intelligent enough to develop an understanding, with one coming forward while the other covers, it wouldn't be the first time two box-to-box midfielders have made an effective partnership.

It also gives the option of playing without a number 10, playing them either side of Carrick, with both able to get forward. Could be handy against some sides.

Finally, while I'm a huge fan of Herrera, Vidal is the best in the world in that role, so I'd take him even if they can't play together and It reduces Herrera to an expensive understudy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidal has come out and said He is not panicking if the Utd option falls through as he is already at a big club Juventus

Seems like he's covering his a** in-case something goes wrong kinda like the Herrera situation

I'm hopeful in any respect!

Believable26 Unbelievable4

I think it is good of Vidal to say that. Shows he is hopeful to join us, but still shows respect to Juve.

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard Vidal is done. Waiting for him to return from holiday to complete medical sign etc.
Person who told me does work for the club in a football related capacity i.e not a cleaner so I hope he knows what he is talking about

He also advised me that micha richards wants to join liverpool just waiting for an offer to be made (I knw not utd related but thought would add it anyway).
If these 2 come off I will believe he is reliable and pass on any further info

Believable18 Unbelievable22

Edds, do you honestly the vidal transfer coming off? it all started off very rosy and now become very sour?! are juve playing hardball again? its just frustrating! i'd rather will carvalho who younger and able to adapt? £37 for him, looks like it'll end up that much for vidal anyway? bring in clasie, beef him up abit, job done?

sorry for the long winded post, but is our defence being looked at?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - If you are willing to pay 37 mill for Carvalho and not Vidal I worry about you mate}

Just got in from the Elbow convert which was brilliant. Just logged on to see all the replies from earlier about Blue Nun. LOL.
AJH, with you being such a wind up merchant yourself I can't believe you took me seriously. You really think I drink Blue Nun? :)
Just for the record I am an Ale man. We have several excellent breweries down here, and I love Doombar, Tribute, Betty Stoggs etc
I do like a bottle of the old Vin Rouge too. I try to get McGuigans Black Label when I can.
Unless Blue Nun is on offer of course lmaof. :)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I am glad they dragged you out of the vat in time BS.}

Doombar is brilliant. You need to come to Sheffield for real ales, some brilliant ones.

Glad you enjoyed the concert man ;)

Has to be Cornish Knocker for me!
Where abouts in cornwall are you from, anywhere near the great heights of Four Lanes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Doombar - 'tis lovely

Agree0 Disagree0

PeeB, how dare you. A man?
I'm a proper Cornish maid thankyou. And proper Cornish maids drink ale. Lots of ale :)
Wilcey, I'm just outside St.Austell, so not too far from FourLanes.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was there too, brilliant set. Where abouts in Kernow do you live? Just got my season tickets for next season, so if you ever need a lift up gimmie a shout!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dan, I live about a mile from the Eden Project in Par. How about you?
Cheers for the lift offer buddy.

Nice part of the world all of it. I'm in weymouth now and we have badger ales a few miles from us. Not bad for getting wobbly. Was in Plymouth with the kids last week and went round the barbican area up to the hoe and down to a park my kids like to play in. With a few drinks along the way;). Ended up in a nice tapas restaurant near centre of Plymouth.

Agree0 Disagree0

. didn't expect to see a conversation between a few 'Janners' on here. proper. Tonguer10.

Agree0 Disagree0

Camborne is the place to be in Cornwall. I grew up there and Betty Stoggs is the greatest Ale on the planet, hands down.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im in summercourt so not too far. I was working in Par last week! You get up to OT much then? I usually get there once or twice a season but I have gone whole hog and bought a pair of season tickets this year. Long old drive but I have always wanted to do it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dan, not been much recently. Me and the Mrs both work full time, and she has to travel quite a bit. Not so easy now we have a little one. Try to get there when I can, with my bro and a couple of mates. Its such a long return trip so when we go we usually stay over night. We've actually done a few CL matches and driven back right after the game due to work commitments, and that is a killer day!
There is no better way than to spend a few hours in the Bishops Blaze before making your way round the corner to OT.
