Ed/anyone? Is there anything new regarding the young Brazilian we looked at (but possibly couldn't agree a deal) Adryan? Or any info on his progress?

Supasub {Ed002's Note - Not from a MU perspective.}

Who is best placed right now then ed?

Supasub {Ed002's Note - For what?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Regarding Adryan you said "not from an MU prospective" maybe implying that there is interest from another club?

Ed, I know this has been discussed during the summer transfer window but do you think it's possible to buy rodriguez from Porto for about 20 million with Anderson going the other way and/or a player on a season loan ( Buttner if they lose Sandro perhaps ). i'm not sure Porto are willing to pay Anderson's wages but they are in need of a central midfielder if moutinho leaves and Anderson was highly rated as a youngster in Portugal {Ed007's Note - I would say no, but it is possible a deal for Rodriguez could happen.}

If Ed001 is about (or anyone else who can answer), I seem to remember you saying at the time we were after Nick Powell that there were other youngsters coming through at Crewe, one you mentioned was the forward Max Clayton, I believe.

Could you possibly answer these questions please:
- how has he been getting on this season?
- are clubs interested in him, in particular United?
- has he signed a new contract yet as I believe his deal was due to end summer 2014?
- if not, do you see him leaving for a cheap price this summer?

Sorry for the many answers but any info. would be appreciated.

Cheers {Ed001's Note - he has been having a difficult season, but his position has been changed slightly from the one he played. He has dropped a little deeper from being an outright striker, to more of a second striker role. It has affected his form, he is not scoring like he was, but he is still showing glimpses that he will make it. His work rate, in particular, has been exceptional at times, he shows a real desire to improve himself. There are still a number of clubs in the Championship and Prem monitoring his progress on a regular basis, Arsenal using the cover of having a player there on loan to keep watch on him. United have also regularly had a representative at Crewe games this season to monitor him. He has not signed a new contract yet, but that is normal for Crewe, they haven't got the finances in place to give players long term contracts. I don't expect him to move this year, I expect him to stay a season or two longer with Crewe, at least.}

Ed002 I see you've said on another page that an EPL side may be interested in Dries Mertens. I'm guessing it's not United?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Great guess.}

I try my best :) Thanks for the reply, no matter how kryptic.

Is it Arsenal Ed? {Ed002's Note - You will have to ask that on the Arsenal page.}

Ed 001, if I recall correctly you are the most knowledgeable about youth football. What is going on with Lucas Ocampos? Last season he was linked with us, Barcelona, Real Madrid. Now he is playing in ligue 2 with Monaco and I've not been able to follow his devellopment. Apparently he was "the new Cristiano Ronaldo ", the next big thing to come out of south america. Do we still have any interest in him? Thanks {Ed002's Note - There was never interest shown by Manchester United. He will have several high profile team mates next season as Monaco bolster their squad with some significant and high end purchases.}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Monaco are on a serious mission to get themselves on top of french football. Maybe Ligue 1 will become more cometitive with moneybags like PSG and Monaco. Thanks Ed002

Agree0 Disagree0

He was looked at by Chelsea with a bunch of other Argie kids.

I thought that it was about time a web site made up a new rumour, Douglas Costa! It has to be the most unreliable website in the world. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Chelsea, Rubin Kazan, Napoli, Arsenal, Manchester City and no doubt many others have been interested in Douglas Costa in the past 18 months. He was being hawked around Italy and and Portugal by Cesar Bottega over the summer and Napoli expressed an interest. There were some talks but no offer was made. Shaktar's approach to valuing players is not dissimilar to Porto's approach. If he moves in the Summer window it may well be to Naples.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

That's hardly a new rumour, just a very old and tired one.

He is a top player and would love to see us get him.

i really hope isco doesn't end up in another premier league team. he is so skillful, anytime I see him play I think of zidane because of how he just gos past players and sees thngs. would love to have him here especially if rooney left. {Ed002's Note - There have been three teams still showing an interest and two have been discussing options with Malaga. By the summer there will likely be other sides interested as well.}

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Are we one of those teams ed?

snakey {Ed002's Note - No.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Isco will probably go Bayern I expect Pepe will take at least three players from spain I can see Isco and Benet going there and another maybe a center back. I would like us to sign Isco but think Kagawa is our man for his position but he is good enough to play anywere in a three behind a striker and would make us more fluid in this formation but I think our big signing will be Bale. So it's looking like a summer of garay, strootman and a versatile attacker possibly Rodriguez/lamela?do people really think we could see lewandowski arrive in the summer?i think he's off to bayern myself. I think if garay is bought we could see jones in midfield more often. strootman aswell would be a fantastic buy. I wouldn't be surprised to see lindegaard go either with begovic brought in. I think we could be in for a busy summer this year but that's just my opinion.?

Believable10 Unbelievable7

Id be happy if jones played more than 1 game every 3months no matter what position. hope he's not another hargreaves. his potential is super high (another ledley king?)

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones will be better at cb than cm, and he will make a great pairing with Smalling.

Strootman looks pretty good but not sure he's what we need. Maybe soeone a bit more technical, to better keep possession and control the game.

Personally I think interest in Lewandosky is purely, precautionary, in case one of our current strikers wants to move on and attracts big bids.

Agree1 Disagree1

I hope the fact that Jones is injury prone at the moment is due to his age as his body grows and adjusts for his job. From what I have seen I prefer him in midfield but that will be decided by SAF, as he appears to be quite good at his job and with more qualifications than most on this site.
JR-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

He's injury prone because he's full on. He goes in for some stupid tackles etc, then gets injured. Needs to be more careful in the way he chooses his tackles.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see Lamela or Garay coming in.

Agree0 Disagree1

I think this will be a busy busy year for united with anderson, nani, vidic, evra, valencia, macheno, youmg (in hope) and rooney going

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidic is unlikely to be allowed to leave, Rio is fading, Evans not top quality while jones and Smalling aren't ready. We could get a new main partner for vidic but not replace him as well.

We are unlikely to shift all three of young Nani and Valencia, as we can't afford to replace our 3 main wingers all at once!

The departures you're talking about would leave us needing 2 first choice defenders, 3 top wingers, at least one top midfielder, maybe 2, a top left back AND a quality striker. That's 8-9 top quality players all at once. Not going to happen. Even if we could afford it, no decent manager would want to gel a team like that, when the existing team just needs 2-4 quality signings to be back among the best in the world.
