@Ed002

You have given us info in the past that you would not rule out a bid for Herrera. Has Athletic Bilbao's stance on the buyout clause changed or is it still the same that only the buyout will be the way to get him? {Ed002's Note - They will want as much as they can get for Herrera - perhaps more than the "buy out" clause people obsess about.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

If we were to meet the "buy out" clause, and the player is keen for a move (some speculation has said as much), would Athletic Bilbao really have a leg to stand on in stopping the deal? {Ed002's Note - It really doesn't work like that.}

@Ed002

Thanks for the reply, I avoid these clause talks generally, but The Equalizer mentioned it in his recent interview hence I brought it up.

So would I be right in thinking that negotiating a price with Bilbao would be the only sensible/realistic way of signing Herrera?

I am asking because his head looks to be turned, and he is being subbed or used as a sub and is struggling to fit into their new system, so I thought that they might be more open to a sale than they previously were.

{Ed002's Note - Forget the "clause" - I have no idea who or what "The Equalizer" is. The bottom line is that to by a player it is necessary to follow a process which is well understood. This involves a bid and negotiation. I have explained all of the way through that you should not discount a bid being made.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact is that Bilbao if the buy out clause is met they then have the option of deciding that the buying club would have to pay VAT, so negotiation is the word

I think I'm right on that Ed? (Hopefully) {Ed002's Note - You are making this stuff up man.}

Hmmm sorry Ed that's the impression I got during the summer from others Eds whilst you refused to answer questions on this site.
Apologies for my mistake {Ed002's Note - The other Eds may have be confused.}

@Ed002

Thanks for the reply. If you google the equalizer you will come with interesting results :)

Well regardless of all this pointless talk about clauses and money. Herrera does look like his head was turned as redfaith said. He's definitely an improvement on a couple of options we have currently in midfield.

Rumour has it that we have held talks with Xabi Alonso ahead of a January move. He would be a useful addition but a very doubtful one. {Ed002's Note - Twitter? Or just tapping up?}

We have good kids coming through. Hughes will be overpriced and I'd rather Barkley who looks better and won't need to adjust to the prem.

Id rather Barkley, Strong, fast, good with the ball at his feet and composed. plus he tries to bring the ball forward from the midfield rather than just keep possession. Played in the Prem and has past relationship with Moyes which may put us in the driving seat if we do go for him.
