Read that we have been linked to David brooks of Bournemouth, I'm from Sheffield and saw a lot of him at Sheffield Utd, great player, I'd take him and play him with Rashford instead of Lingard (already a better player in my opinion)

I really don’t understand the want to move Lingard on or have him out of the side. Played a huge role in the win against spurs. He’s versatile and has great movement. Yes, there are better players in world football than Lingard, but we’ve more important areas to address.

Lingard has been brilliant for us for a few years now. He reminds me a bit of Park, putting in a good shift high up the pitch, willing to fill in the gaps, great at covering out of possession and finding space when in possession. He’s certainly done more than a £50m Fred this season. I think Lingard isn’t as appreciated as he should be partly because he didn’t cost silly money with a silly name.

Better than lingard? A player with knack of scoring in big games especially finals and who was one of England's better players at the world cup. Or some random guy at a low league team.

I get the feeling if he was called Lingardinho people might respect him a bit more. He is one of the first names on the team sheet in big games, especially big away games, a link between the midfield and attack with seemingly unlimited energy. There are better players out there than Jesse but he gets my vote over a lot of them.

Not saying Brooks isn't a good player, I am sure he is, looks a decent prospect, but at the moment he is nowhere near the level of Lingard never mind better.

He does have a foreign name. Messi Lingard is awesome.

Obviously I’m outnumbered when it comes to Lingard but like i say it’s just my opinion.
I don’t dislike Lingard but think he flatters to deceive at times, i love his energy and it’s clear to see he loves playing for Utd and yes he scores the odd good goal but overall i think his end product is hit and miss and think Brooke’s is a better all round player and will be a top player.
This is one of the things that’s good about football, everyone has an opinion.

I agree he needs to be more consistent. But we've been saying that about most of the squad for 2-3 years. I think he's underrated. Brooks maybe one to keep an eye on but there's been too many like him move too soon and disappear.

Lingard is currently my favourite United player. Been at the club most of his life, loyal, worked hard during several loan spells and is now reaping the rewards. The guy is a role model on the pitch to the youngsters at the club.

For me, lingard stays! One of the first names on our starting 11.

Q for 002 if around, are the club actively looking to buy this January or are we most likely going to see nothing until clarity over the permanent manager?

{Ed002's Note - I try and avoid discussions about timing but if the right player becomes available it is possible purchases could be made. Certainly the club has had discussions with agents and other sides as recently as today, but it is tough to make things happen in January.}

002. Not sure if you have covered this off before. What are your thoughts on the January transfer window? Apologies if it's been covered and I missed it.

{Ed002's Note - Does not really help anyone. I would scrap them completely.}

The old system worked fine, was nothing wrong with it.

Agreed Mort, think having two windows puts a lot of pressure on clubs and many tend to make hurried decisions leading to overpaying and many times acquiring a player that is wrong for the club.

Would love to see the window open the day after the champions league final and close the day before the first game of the season. I know some leagues start different times but really the big leagues start around the same time so wouldn’t be that bad. Go with what you have for the season and if injuries occur, you go youth.

Heps to inflate prices, especially during the January transfer window.
