Was at Wembley on Saturday, my mate who's a Liverpool fan was talking to Alan Kennedy about liverpool targets. LFC supposedly agreed deals for Ashley Young & Charlie Adams. Supposedly Reina stated to LFC club meeting that he's happy at club. LFC, according to Kennedy, would listen to offers for him if Utd bid 'silly money' the 'money' in question, Kennedy said. were bids over £20mil

Seems like the old SEAGULL is right after all ! Talks for De Rossi at advanced stage. Have also heard that Edwin is seriously considering one more year [mainly because De Gea is stalling and would like another 12 months in Spain]. Is this what Seagull was refrring to when he said that we'd be surprised at who 'THE REPLACEMENT' keeper would be ? My sources also tell me that Xavi agent has met Utd representatives at least 3 times during past 18 months. I wonder. . ?

@I have heard that City have agreed a fee for Sanchez which is believed to be in the region of £30m plus possible future add-ons depending on City's future successes. I don't think we will equal this amount, not sure what Chelsea will do? Ed002?

Should we see Berbatov leave is there a possibility a move for falcao could be on the cards? Ferguson always admires a striker who is good in the area and with wingers like valencia and nani who can put crosses in to really challenge defenders it would seem a good move.

Naughto'matic - who is your source(s)? you seem to be very in the know, and confident about all you rumours!

Rooney and Owen WILL NOT leave United over the Summer, I guarantee that! Berbatov however, could well be on his way out to Spurs or the Bundesliga. I'm told Fergie doesn't see a future for him at United anymore, and given his age he is thinks it's the right time to cash-in on him, plus he isn't the type of player who has the natural ftiness to play much past 32! so now's time get a bit cash before he is valued at under £10m.

I have no sources just what i would like to see.
We don't need any defenders. Plenty of youngsters coming through with the old heads.

Midfield is where we need major work. But we need to by quality and not just names.

No need for strikers when you have. Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov, Wellbeck.

The only way we would buy a striker is if Rooney was moulded into a Scholes esque role.

Stekelenburg.

Just been told by my mate who is a Spurs fan, that Harry plans to buy Scotty Parker & Charlie Adam and let go of Modric. Seems like it's a way of getting two or more players for one. Not sure if we will go for him, but if this info is correct then a £30m bid could be accepted. Or perhaps a £20m bid plus a player? One thing we can say is Harry's wheeling and dealing is in motion now.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I really don't know about the clauses, and on the few occasions I know such clauses have been inserted they have had caveats (such as time and price exempttions) surrounding them. You may have stumbled over a red herring.}

@We know Shawcross is still available for a small fee as Pulis called SAF 'very clever' for installing such a clause. I think the only thing keeping Shawcross at Stoke is the player himself. He plays every game for Stoke and he is their captain, he would return to United, but not to sit on the bench.

Not sure about Rossi's clause, the papers say it's still available to be activated, but surely United would have tried by now? Mind you, we have been scouting Villarreal, but I assumed it was for Nilmar. It maybe a case of Rossi not wanting to return to England? But if you could snap him up for just £8m, then you wouldn't mind paying him £100k a week would you?

"I'm loving all the posts about Man Utd signing a top quality CB and ST for the coming season with prices being battered around at £10 million and upwards, Ryan Shawcross and Guiseppi Rossi both have buy back clauses for around £8 million. Shawcross has been a rock for Stoke and with Ferdinand not getting any younger and picking up a fair few injuries and Shawcross having already been at Utd, personally in years to come Smalling and Shawcross will be the England CB and hopefully next season the Utd CB pairing. Kaka??? Benzema??? have had terrible seasons and both would command a fee of over £20+ million, rossi who has been finding the net on a regular basis would cost around £8 million. I'm pretty sure Rodwell will be signed and that would leave just the AMC and GK to be taken care off. Anybody have any thoughts on this???"

@You are right about Shawcross & Rossi, but the clauses are only active if the player himself wants to return to OT. It's understood that Shawcross values his captaincy at Stoke more than sitting on the bench for us. Rossi is apparently looking closely at the Barcelona interest, I think rainy old Manchester is not in his sights. Shame because both of those players for a total of £16m would be god business.

Ed, are the clauses £8m? Or is that just rumour?

Agree with quite a lot of the big post, I don't believe Evans is ever going out on loan, Varane will be brought in to replace Brown if he leaves, not Evans. Evans has far more experience than Varane, Varane is only a kid. I think you are clutching at straws if you think we would get £32m for Berbatov, Brown, Kuszczak & Macheda. I would say £20m maximum is all we would get for them four.

I agree with the positions that will be filled though, GK, CB, CM & ST / Winger. If Evra leaves then obviously he will be replaced. I think the GK will be either De Gea, Stekelenburg or Adler. I think the defender will be either Clark, Dann or Varane. The CM player could be anyone, perhaps M'Vila or Rodwell. It's all speculation and opinion, but this is what I think could happen.

This time next week the transfer window will open, so I guess it won't be long until we can see our targets.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Only the EPL transfer window opens next week Syd.}

@Does that mean just transfers for players from English clubs to English clubs? Plus Wrexham, Cardiff & Swansea of course? So players like Rodwell, Young etc can be bought? When can we buy abroad Ed?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Yes - you may have as many Wrexham players as you can before Barcelona and Inter can buy them.}

{Ed002's Note - Only the EPL transfer window opens next week Syd.}

ed, why does our window open early, I know it does i'm just asking do you know why the difference between us and Europe?

{Ed002's Note - Each FA decides the date that their transfer window opens. In England and Wales it is after the last game of the season - but that only applies for transfers between clubs who are members of the same FA. There has been a real big fuss in France this year as the clubs want the transfer window to open after the last day of the season rather than their following the tradition of opening on the same day as the International window. The French are concerned that those nasty English clubs will come and take their best players and costs will be inflated. Some countries use the last game, some June 1 and some the international window date.}

These are the actual deals being worked on today.
Stekelenberg £8M from Ajax.
Hargreaves, pay as you play.
Owen, will be offered the same deal as Hargreaves. (Ferguson sees him as one of his 4 strikjers along with Rooney, Chica, Welbeck)
Phil Jones (Blackburn) price dependant on Blackburns final league position.
Rodwell (part exchange for Evans plus £10M)
Scott Parker, enquiries will be made as to his wage demands and the possibility of him moving back to the north. (He still has a property in Yorkshire)
Finally the big name star will not be Sneijder, Schweinsteiger, or the like. Madrid have offered United first refusal on Sami Khedira who has not settled in Madrid and is surplus to Mourinho's requirements.

Been reading this site for a really long time, posted very rarely (and somehow never seen those posts, despite seeing some completely nonsensical stuff out of nowhere). . Anyway, am not posting rumours as much as asking something which I have been thinking for a while.

1. Either Rooney is leaving, or the Sneijder rumour is one massive smokescreen. Rooney was always the most likely Scholes replacement (I know hindsight is a great thing, but have been saying this for almost 2 years not), and that is vindicated by the way he is playing in the hole behind the striker recently. Now, SAF is no mug (unless you are a City or Pool fan). am sure he can see how much Rooney prefers playing in a free role where he can drop deep and drift out wide. Plus we also have Anderson coming up in that position (I know he hasnt been given too many chances as a free-flowing, attack minded player, but some of the stuff he did at Porto was class. and I don't think he would have lost that ability completely), as also Petrucci

2. Given how long the entire De Gea saga has lasted, am almost tempted to believe that we won't be signing him. I think it will either be Adler / Lloris / Akinfeev. We have been linked strongly to all 3 at some point or the other, and with insane prices being quoted then for at least Lloris and the Russian. Suddenly now the entire attention is on Neuer and de Gea. Also, Gill is saying that we have been linked with every top keeper on the continent, but have had a target in mind for months! Now that is suggestive as the de Gea rumours are quite recent
PS - The only reason I wrote almost above is because of Balague and his great contacts in Spain. Might end up getting a lot of egg on my face, but then would be happy about it if DdG were to sign!

3. Personally, I think we need a new GK (obviously), a defence minded midfielder who hopefully has some skill on the ball as well, and a good winger / forward. My ideal targets would be

Adler : 15M (Quality player and a United fan with a special buy-out clause in his contract. get him! )

M'Vila : 15M approx. (has good skill on the ball as well, and Javi Martinez just signed a new deal. Somehow have no idea about Moussa Sissoko. any thoughts people?)

Sanchez : 25M?? (Saw some of him at the WC, and snippets in the Seria A this season. Have a feeling that he will adjust to the physicality of the PL just fine. . look at Silva as a pointer. He can play anywhere across the front line, which would be a real asset in Europe when we play that cute little formation where people keep swapping places :). Plus, he is a United fan as well!)

Raphael Varane : 5M (must admit have never seen this guy play but am assuming he is potentially very good. Get him and then we can have Vidic, Smalling, Evans and Varane as the 4 CBs in the next 2-3 years when Rio eventually goes)

AOC : 5-10M should do the trick

Hargo : sign him on a pay-as-you-play deal. Else let Arsenal have him to add to their list of injury prone players

Cleverley, Welbeck, Diouf : return (SAF has confirmed)

Pogba / Tunnicliffe / Blackett / Morrison : a few games at least?

4. Exits :
Kuszczak : 5M (seems sure after the Rovers game)

Brown : 5M (assuming we should get this much)

Macheda : 7M maybe? (stupid bugger should have taken his chances. . soo much potential there!)

Berbatov : 15M (though I don't want him to go, it seems inevitable. Italians / Germans would probably pay that much still??)

Owen : release

VDS : retire

Neville : retire

Scholes : retire (lot of wage savings with these 4)

Apart from these, am guessing some other players who might leave would be
Obertan : loan or the right offer
Bebe : loan
Evans : possibly a loan to the right club, specially if Varane comes in and Evra is not leaving anywhere.

Anyway, bottomline is I think we will end up getting in some really good reinforcements and also get rid of some players without really breaking the bank and be in a position to dominate for at least the next 5 years or so.

@Ed : took a long time at work to write this. Do post!

In reply to;

Talks of Man utd singing sanchez, luca modric and de gea

@ This plus another Centre Midfielder would be the exact players I think United should sign, I just can't see us spending 25+m on Sanchez and 30+m on Modric plus De Gea will be between 15-20m. We will definitely sign a keeper (De Gea is 'done' from what I'm hearing) and a Midfielder. If we got De Gea and Mdric I'd be over the moon as I'm sure alot of United fans propably would.

A goalkeeper will obviously be signed presumably adler but maybe steklenburg, de gea doesn't want to leave spain. varane is a done deal. either sneijder will be signed or we will go for another striker (benzema) and use rooney in his recent deeper role.

hoping for sneijder and steklenburg but who knows . . . .
