Good afternoon eds. Is there any truth to the rumours that Manchester United are interested in Andre Ayew of Marseille

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware but I can certainly find out very easily. However, now is a time for cocktails so I will get to it when I can.

l'OM are more than happy to sell Andre Ayew and if anyone makes an acceptable offer to both the club and player then he will move on. Knee surgery blocked any chance of a January move but he is now back fit and in the team. Last summer saw some interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Dynamo Kyiv. Liverpool also enquired after a guideline price for the player last summer. Right now there has been no firm interest in the player raised with Marseille beyond an offer that is on the table from Napoli. It will be down to his agent to see what other potential suitors there are - probably in Italy or England. The player has suggested he would like to move on to a "better" side and cited Chelsea, Real Madrid or Barcelona as ideal destinations - he will be waiting a long time for that.

Just read that Manchester United have already started negotiations with Fabregas he's the first priority for Van Gaal and fabregas is keen to move

Believable11 Unbelievable49

Like he was keen to move last summer. This story as been done death now so let's move on and find some realistic targets. That said I would not complain if i'm wrong.

Tancredi? He has an iffy reputation my friend. However we know Barcelona are willing to sell at a price and we know City have enquired. We also know that we were very interested in signing him last season. There's no reason why this cannot be true, but I will not get excited until I hear it from a better source.

Agree2 Disagree0

A few places suggesting that an Arsenal bid is imminent. Nobody particularly reliable but I'd imagine the club will feel obliged to move for him if it looks as though he's going to move elsewhere. They clearly need to strengthen other areas but I don't think their fans would be happy to see him move to a domestic rival having lost so many other players in recent years.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Just to try and clear this up. Manchester United are not in negotiations over Fabregas. Barcelona might well listen to a significant offer for Fabregas and Manchester City have certainly made an enquiry for him. However, the club is about to get a new manager and there is every chance he will stay there. This is probably just stuff from Twitter or whatever.}

We need to look at where our interest is currently. We know MU have contacted BM regarding Kroos. We know MU have contacted Juve regarding Vidal. We know that we have contacted Sporting in regards to Carvalho. Ed has told us that Vidal is unlikely and he was our first choice, Carvalho 2nd. But things may well have changed with the sacking of Moyes and soon to be appointment of LvG. I think we have to assume that Kroos and Carvalho are the most likely targets at this point. But no doubt we will know more in the coming weeks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidal if he will leave will go to Spain and strootman is the one coming even though he's Injured hopefully will be accompanied in midfield with Kroos let's wait and see.

Ed02 - Is it true that Barcelona's sporting director is pushing for a change in playing style? I've heard from a few places that they'll be looking to play with an out and out striker again which would surely push Messi back into the number 10 role and thus decrease the amount of playing time for their midfielders. Are they pursuing strikers at the moment or is their focus solely on their defense?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You need the Barcelona page for this sort of question, but they are about to change head coach and he will have his own ideas.}

Syd I think all interest in Carvalho may well disappear with LvG joining

Ed. According to a few media outlets William carvalho to Manchester United was a done deal along with Luke shaw.
Can any of the eds or in the know tel me what's the latest in carvalho case? Has interest gone off or united is calm because its a done deal?

Believable6 Unbelievable3

{Ed004's Note - I'm not sure what's happened there. Maybe LvG doesn't rate him as highly or hasn't followed him enough to warrant a 30+ mill bid. In all honestly I'd rather Vidal for 45-50 than carvalho for 37. Though can't think of many quality defensive mids around Lars bender maybe?}

I think the £37 million on someone like Carvalho is a huge risk, one that I wouldn't take if I was taking over the club. It could make you look very, very silly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know SL want £37m, but if I was a betting man I would say he would end up costing us £25m-£30m. Considering he will be an exceptional player in 1-2 year's time and already far better than what we currently have, I would pay it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard on the ever reliable twitter that Vidal is back up to any failed Kroos bid! I'd move the earth to get Vidal in!

He doesn't fit the kind of player van Gaal likes as a DM. He prefers brains and technique over pace amd power.

Carvalho is definately a pace and power player rather than and intelligent technical player. He is also unable to play any other midfield role other than as a DM.

I doubt we'll be signing him with van Gaal in charge.

Hey Ed, Our left back situation is well documented with Luke Shaw looking likely but is there any interest from the club in strengthing the right back slot? either a repalcement for Rafael or back up?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - The club has looked at players as I have previously explained. Santiago Aria might still be an option.}

Hi Ed do United have any remaining or renewed interest in Sheamus Coleman and Ross Barkley? Thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

{Ed004's Note - None atm}

I have to say I'm glad that we have dropped interest in Coleman. He is good but I think Rafael is better, and his price is ridiculous. Barkley I wouldn't mind but we have an abundance for that position.

Agree1 Disagree0

The Rafael of 2011/12 and certainly 2012/13 season I thought was turning into a world class right back but this last season he seems to have gone back in progression. However an unsettled defense and team last year may not have helped his progress so let's see what he can do this season.

Agree3 Disagree0

Is be happy to throw £30m at Barkley and play him as a central midfielder.
He would be a great investment and would get our monies worth easily. We should make an offer, throw in Cleverley as well if the rumors are true their wanting him

Agree0 Disagree0

Fresh, you have constantly gone on about Rafael being better than Coleman. Where are you coming up with this from? Granted Rafael had a good season last season but look at him this year. 1 step forwad 2 steps backwards. I won't mention his list of deficiencies as i'd be here all night but he was worst than Evra quite a lot this year. Coleman on the other hand has improved every single season since he was on loan at Blackpool. Every season he has got better to now arguably being the best right back in the league. So what makes Rafael better?

Ed02, do we still have an interest in Garay or has it passed?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - PSG, Monaco and Napoli have made interest known in Garay. Manchester United have not taken the simple step of signing him when they have had the opportunities over the past year but are going to struggle to sign the centre backs they need and may well return to the player once more. Representatives of Manchester City have watched him twice in the last month of the season. They might just be hedging their bets over another player. Barcelona have looked at him before but he is not first choice. Similarly, Real MAdrid are aware that they may lose Varane - not first choice but perhaps a consideration.}

Cheers for the update, much appreciated. personally I hope we go for him again.
