Watching the Barca Madrid game, am I the only one finding it super frustrating to watch? Players on the ground grabbing their faces every thirty seconds it seems like. It might only be me though…

Sparty On

Believable16 Unbelievable2

It is always entertaining just to watch especially the very end. I'm more frustrated that no one can dethrone Barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought first half was good second half spoiled again by play acting, good tackle at the end tho

Lads it's wrong,so frustrating alright what do people think of mourinhos chances of ever getting united job in the future??

Agree0 Disagree0

Their respective managers should be held to account by UEFA. Fine/ban the managers and this behaviour stops. It's as simple as that.

First time post from myself, it may be of intrest to you guys, I work near old Trafford and usually see David gill arriving at the ground every morning but as yet he doesn't seem to have been there this week ? So read into that what you will........ {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site}

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Thanks ed do you think we will sign anyone else this window, I tend to agree we need a class mid to compete with barca {Ed007's Note - I sincerely hope so mate, I really do. Try to think of a nickname or 'handle' you will find it is easier to interact with people and I hope you enjoy it, feel free to join in with the ongoing subjects etc.}

We all can agree that we need at least a creative midfielder that can at least last 3 or more seasons and also importantly teach by experience to Pogba, Morrison, and Cleverley for the future?

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Can see why sir alex let city beat us to nasri

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all... you learn better by actually playing, theory means nothing if you cannot apply it so letting them sit there and watch won't help their development, let them play. Secondly can Paul Scholes not teach them? He is part of the coaching staff at OT

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think united will buy any one else this window as fergie generally does his bussiness at the end of the previous season, so when the window opens all terms are agreed and the player signs early to get the pre-season training etc etc

The 1 exception is berba what a class signing he isn't

Believable9 Unbelievable6

Tbh don't be such a berba-basher
who got joint golden boot last season? facts speak for themselves.. Fergie is gonna keep hold of him because when we have a stronger midfield berba will do better. He's great at finishing This is one reason why i'm convinced we'll buy a good playmaker midfielder, with berba and hernandez we have great finishers, just need a lot of feed from our midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

To the un named person

May I suggest that Berbatov was actually wearing the solid gold boots particularly away from home.

You must be watching a different game to me because Berbatov has no pace and we have to play differently to accommodate him. Have a look at his recent substitute appearance and tell me if you see a fired up forward who was stretching the opposition defence. I didnt. Then compare to Aguero's energy when he came on, totally opposite attitude, pace and fire.

It looks like Berbatov is staying and I am somewhat disappointed.

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly, i think Berba is a good player but I think it should be Welbeck getting a chance this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Against WBA, Berba 'made' the space for the Young/OG by inteligently pulling back and creating the opening for Young to exploit, creating space and forcing the defensive error. Not all football is on the ball, what a smart player like Berbatov does is often off the ball and not immediately appretiated..

Agree0 Disagree0

Berba's game isn't running around like a madman, it's helping with the link up play and creating space for others, not running and pressuring everyone. He was joint top scorer last season with Tevez, who runs around and pressures everyone so clearly your style of play does not affect your goalscoring. The stats speak for themselves, Berbatov: 32 apps (24 starts) 20 goals. Tevez: 31 appearances (30 starts) 20 goals.

how about offering £27-28 m for mata and sign him??

RamoN

Believable12 Unbelievable10

I think if Sir Alex was after Mata, he would of got him when Valencia were only asking for £18m.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 17:20:02
United need to buy at least 2 midfielders. In my opinion we should sighn Cheike Tiote as he would be the grafter and then sign Wesley Sneijder as then he would have lience to go forward also the young midfielders such as Pogba , Cleverley , Morrison can learn from him and then when he eventualy goes we have players who can step up to the plate.

Believable15 Unbelievable8

I agree mufc need 2 midfielders big time i wud go out and get nasri for the attacking option and get diarra off madrid for the defensive side of midfield both proven in the prem we need top men to have a chance of euro glory

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a newcastle fan, and i think check would be a great signing for united. just offer mike ashlry £14m and he would take it

Agree0 Disagree0

I think ceverley has already proved he can cut it at man utd, lets give these kids a chance instead of buying .

Agree0 Disagree0

This is just my opinion i dont think carrick is nasty enough in the big games and hasnt got a bit of bite and a competitve edge tiote is perfect for this.
So for the big games imagine valencia and young wide tiote and fletcher sitting then wesley sneijder in front and then you still have the forward headache of rooney chicha berba welbeck owen macheda all different types of strikers.

Agree0 Disagree0

For the bite in midfield that we 'require' (IMO you don't require bite, just hard working midfielders, look at Barca... Busquets hasn't really got 'bite' has he?) Tiote would be a good signing, but IMO Fletcher can do the same job but with a little more class. And it's much better to learn while playing rather than watching on the bench, Cleverley has the ability, we can all see it, so why stop him playing by buying Sneijder. It's not as if he won't have anyone to learn from... PAUL SCHOLES is in the coaching staff. We don't NEED Sneijder at all.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

No please not valbuena I lived in france and I've seen a lot of him he has a terrible mentality he's a hated figure for diving and bad attitude, can't see him fitting in with the lads and he is overrated Trust me guys he is not united quality, he has been available for 2 years now and no big club has moved for him

If these rumours about WS are true that he is willing to take a HUGE pay cut just to be able to play for us then surely he will be signed. These are the players that we need and love at Old Trafford. Someone who simply wants to play for us and is willing to sacrifice money in able to do so. everything is starting to come together that he will be a man utd player.

just keep believing people, forget the press nonsense about yer man stating that he is not for sale. why the hell would he be given a week off during pre season to go on a holiday to spain lol, just doesnt make sense......

reckon he will be a man utd player after all. i was really doubting it would happen, but strangely positive about it all now :-)

Robbo

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Robbo, I've said a few times over the last month or so that United will play hard-ball over the Sneijder deal. Beit player wages and/or the fee. When negotiating you have to be prepared to walk away from the deal. That is exactly what United have done. No idea if all the rumours are are true but if Sneijder joins us the deal will be on our terms - that i'm sure of. I think he wants to join and if he does take a pay cut this shows real desire to win more trophies. Final piece of the jigsaw?

Stockie

I guess Inter's comments are coming out of fear, they know SAF is playing the waiting game so that Sneijder's signing can be done on 31st at a lower price so he has come out and told "Sneijder is untouchable".
I for one feel if an offer of 33m + is recieved he will leave, if he reduces his wage demands that is ( which i've heard he has )
And the Eto'o transfer influencing Sneijder's stay is all bulls*** as they knew for long that both of them were looking to move this summer..

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I agree with you on the fact that eto'o moving has nothin to do with wesley's transfer I think Inter are lining up Diego Forlan and Carlos Tevez.. Which is funny because i had that striker partnership at sevilla on fifa 11 :D

If we dont bring in a centre midfielder, what are the chances of Paul Pogba playing a part in this season, he has a first team squad number, and I am incredibly eager to see him play.
If not why dont we bring in Ganso, Nasri etc.
Pogba will be world class, this is a perfect time to bring him in while we're look for someone to shine in that department. {Ed007's Note - Nasri is out the equation now, he is having his medical at City right now.}

hi all does anyone know whats happening with berba... seems to have gone quite all of a sudden.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Absolutely nothing, thats the problem,we wont spend,my heads wrecked aswell mate Super Red

Agree0 Disagree0

My impression is that he is staying because we cant shift him. Noone will pay him the salary he wants so he will see out his contract and hope to negotiate a deal which suits him next summer.

The other alternative is that SAF has lost his decisiveness (e.g. Leighton decision in 1990) because having performed the way Berbatov has, most other players would be out the door. This is not about the goals he scored in the first half of last season almost solely at home but the rest of his tenure at Old Trafford.

17 Aug 2011 14:18:00
I am really gutted if the quotes from Inter are true. A marquee signing in the centre of midfield is definately a must this summer. Fletcher or Jones can perform the holding role quite easily but we need a playmaker, Carrick & Anderson have had ther chance and disappointed. I think CM is not the only place we need a new face in.. If SAF thinks Welbeck is a better choice to partner Rooney than Berba when Chico is unavailable I really do worry...Welbeck is a back up player at best as is Owen (when fit) Berba needs to be sold if he is not going to extend his contract and we need a new CF if he is going...I really hope there is a few suprises to come in the next fortnight otherwise we are going to struggle.

Pretty much everything you have said there is absolute rubbish There's much more to SAF and United than signing players mate

Yeah was agreeing at first but when you said Welbeck is back up at best? he's a f**king decent forward, and he'll only get better the more games he plays alongside rooney and co.

Outta red noses hands though pal.

Unless a miracle happens getting them knocked out or huge injury problems that is the only ways they could not win.

Get Marko Marin please This guy is goooood man

PS-Ed, any insight on new signings, if any.....it hurts me to see that a club a magnitude of Man United has been unable to procure the services of a world-class central midfielder. I just dont understand it. Its not that we CANT, but we DONT WANT TO. I wonder why?

ONE UNITED {Ed007's Note - I am sitting with a black armband on over WS mate. 37yrs old and gutted, Moneypenny phoned from the office earlier and asked why I was crying, when I told her about WS she said 'I thought it was something serious.' I stared at the phone for a minute before replying 'It is f***ing serious!!! Make your own dinner tonight, oh and by the way your mams f***ing dog died earlier!'. That's what happens when your Mrs leans more towards LFC than Utd. Eejit of a woman!}

Believable12 Unbelievable2

The strangest thing is Man Utd will miss out on the commercial aspect of things. They have not signed a player for seasons that can bump up merchandise sales. The likes of Chelsea with Torres, Man City with Augero, Real Madrid with Ronaldo, Barcelona with Fabregas seem to do it on a regular basis.

Agree0 Disagree0

Awwww come on man something's gotta give....I really want that elusive WORLD CLASS Midfielder

Man Utd will not make any more signings before the transfer window closes.

I have heard from a good source, that the Sneijder deal will go ahead due to two reasons.

SAF knows he needs to strengthen his midfield to compete with Barce as that is the biggest goal to win CL. All of his signings are young with great potential but he is just missing the experience. He has it in Vidic, Ferd and Rooney but nothing in the CM.

Secondly as most are aware next year financial regulations come into play and Utds finances dont stack up due to the debt incurred by the Glaziers. So they are going to spend big this year, put 25% shares on the market to re cope some monies and then the club should run efficiently next year.

What are your thoughts Edd?

Believable17 Unbelievable5

The club debt incurred by the Glaezers takeover has no impact on the financial fair play rules whatsoever.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

United debt will not be affected by the FFP rules.
Because that debt is being serviced, ie it's managable. Also, the FFP are not being introduced for that purpose. They're being brought in to prevent clubs spending money they haven't got on footballers they can't afford. Namely, spending needs to be generated by footballing activities, not come from the wallet of some uber rich sugar daddy, a la Man Citeh.
Man Uniteds spending and debt management is well within the guidelines set out in the FFP rules.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yer we do need to strengthen as barca go fabragas and sanchez our signings so fair don't compare even tho young is a gd player jones and de gea will be gd players but r young

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes all meets the regulations but what im saying is, with the club not showing much profit due to the debts they would not be able to spend money as they will not meet the regulations, so they are going to spend big now and then next year spending will be kept to the min as per norm with manchester utd. But my main point is about Barce as we need to compete with them and they have strengthened with 2 quality signings compared to ours, ( although ours are very good they are not world quality yet)

The worried Dutch star, 27, looked to have blown his chance of leaving Inter Milan by asking for £200,000 a week.
