Ed002, any updates on players leaving the club? Nani, Anderson, Fellaini (if), Cleverly (if) Hernandez, Zaha, etc

Believable6 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Not much. Palace still want Zaha; Juve want Hernandez but maybe will face competition - perhaps even from Spurs who are likely to lose their primary target; Nani - perhaps Portugal. Fellaini, probably Napoli - may yet change.}

17 Aug 2014 22:06:57
Hey ed, are we actually open to letting Hernandez leave? Seems like it could potentially be a factor in any negotiation for Vidal, and would leave room for Wilson to get some first team chances

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why complicate matters?}

Haha fair one ed sorry you must be sick of the V word. In your opinion do you think Hernandez will still be in the squad at the end of the window? Regardless of any other dealings

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have old you there is interest in him. I really don't want to be sharing my view about what will actually happen.}

Thats fair enough, i'm guessing you want to avoid people taking your opinions as gospel!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Right on.}

If we don't get Rojo we will move for Antonio Rudiger according to tv

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Never heard of him! 4 weeks ago we were looking at Hummels, then Benatia, then Rojo and now were going after some lad from Stuttgart who appears to be our 4th choice for a centre back! Might as well stick with Blackett & Keane, they will be of same standard to this guy and we already own them!

Agree0 Disagree0

JS, actually we were looking at Hummels for CCB, Vermaelen as the LCB. now we are looking at Benatia for CCB and Rojo as LCB.

I suspect Rojo is just a formality now, but we are still wanting that warrior for the central centre-back position. Benatia seems to be the target still.

talks are on going between sporting and united for rojo and united are unwilling to increase their 16 million offer

Rojo is expected to make the move to Old Trafford but if the deal happens to fall through, United will turn their attention to Stuttgart's Antonio Rudiger.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

Utd seem to expect other clubs to sell their players to them on the cheap!

If the other club says the price is £20m then pay £20m if you want him.

Might as well just bring through academy kids as we are not being serious in the transfer market.

Rojo giving an interview on Sporting TV tonight at 21:30. Could be a goodbye?

Believable5 Unbelievable19

Or could be an appology.

Agree3 Disagree0

What channel so a can watch it pal

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully both!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's an apology for trying to force a move

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a feeling this is something he has to do to be allowed to leave. We will see.

Agree0 Disagree0

It will be an apology to the fans for his conduct and 'misunderstanding' over his future! He will say he is committed to Sporting and loves the club.

What else would it be? Who gives an interview saying they want to leave! When have you ever seen that!

Agree2 Disagree2

JS, what can he really say? Every dog and his flea knows he put in a transfer request and refused to train. Of course there will be an apology to the fans, but I doubt he will commit to them.

Agree0 Disagree1

Sporting seem to be playing really hard ball with him so it probably will be him thanking the fans and then saying he is going.

Agree0 Disagree1

Been reading this site for years now so thought I would make a post, alledgedly sporting holding out for 16mill plus a player on loan, just give them whoever and get deal done!

Sorry if this has already posted, as I said new to this

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani may not be interested though Pete.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thing is tho Syd surely Nani knows he's finished here so he has to look at his options which at the moment seems limited.

Agree0 Disagree0

Herbie, very true, but maybe he's happy to sit in his Cheshire home, putting his feet up, raking in his £45k a week? I do hope he goes on loan or is sold though, he needs to move on and further his career. He is stuck in a rut right now and needs to find his form again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes not going to get the game time here so hopefully that would be enough to convince himself to get himself in the shop window again! If he's holding out for juve he won't get that espe ially if we don't get vidal!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a good chance to offload both Anderson and Nani. Offer them both in exchange for Rojo. Their combined value is probably 15m anyway, so sprinkle it with an extra few million and we ought to be close to a deal.

Anderson is respected in Portugal from his Porto days and Nani is a Sporting product + Portugese international. It would be a good offer.

I suspect we would have to contribute to their wages to some extent, but we would still be getting them off the payroll at the end of the day, so money being saved there.

Agree0 Disagree0

RedIsotope
Just curious, what do you value Anderson at?
Personally I would pay anyone to take him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson 5-6 Million(?) that's the cost of a decent championship / relegation level player in the top flight nowadays isn't it?
I can't help but shake my head saying that. What a waste of talent.

Nani still has a value close to 10million. Despite falling out of favour, he has retained his place internationally and I suspect he would be a valuable player for a Europa league side.

Agree0 Disagree0

So what did Rojo say in hi TV interview?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

He was on 90 seconds. said that he was hot headed, loves the fans, club and teammates etc. was sorry and would be back in training tomorrow. Said his future is in sportings hands.

Just PR control from Sporting. don't think it changes much.

Ed002 is there any truth in Bild reporting that Benatia is off to Bayern? I really hope it isn't

Believable9 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich are one of the interested clubs.}

Why do I think this is going to go tits up as well? :(

Agree0 Disagree1

Guess need to trust LvG and what he's implementing: will take time as they learn the new system. What with injuries to come back - and hopefully at least Blind and Rojo - should eventually be competing for top 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't matter what system he plays, last season was shocking and we're even weaker this year, unless the club invests heavily in the next 2 weeks it'll be another poor season, not really any chance of investing either, clubs aren't going to sell their best players 2 weeks before the transfer window closes as they can't replace them . Ed Woodward has played a blinder, talked the talk got everyone excited sold alk the season tickets then went back to chasing sponsor deals, Glazers must love him

Sky sports have removed benatia story. Are we still interested or do they do this regularly . Late last night they said he had landed . please someone reply.

Best regards
Wilf

Believable5 Unbelievable13

It hasn't been removed, I'm literally reading it now.

Agree0 Disagree0

They haven't removed it wilf just saw it 2 mins ago on sky sports keep the faith we will bring it 3-4 players before deadline

Agree1 Disagree1

Jim White is about as reliable as a tissue umbrella.

Agree2 Disagree2

Basically they've made sly bet a few more quids

Agree2 Disagree0

The story is still there I just checked however it's no longer headline news so it's only available on the SkySports Your club section. Hope this helps, short of that the only advice I can offer is; what will be will be!

Agree0 Disagree0

Skysports haven't removed this story. Whether he is flying to manchester to hold talks are true or not I don't know. I don't believe these bayern rumours I think its just the media putting 2 + 2 together and getting 7 because of martinez injury. On the flip side i'm on the fence about the benatia to MU rumours as sky are just another media outlet

Although everytime we see 'sky sources' we all get a little excited. come on admit it :)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is about 20 hours now - hot air balloon?}

Sly Spurts is only a mouthpiece for Sly Bets - they are trying to drum up money from betting - they no nothing more than the average journo, particularly the awful Jim White.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do the Ed's know if we have made a bid for Benatia?

Roma are not hard pressed financially. My guess is that getting them to accept an offer is going to be harder than agreeing terms with the player.

Roma have spent quite a bit of money in recent years & in this transfer window. I wouldn't imagine they will be easier to negotiate with, than Dortmund have been over Hummels.

Its one of those 50/50's however. Roma's sporting director Sabatini seems to be a bit of a wheeler dealer. He has a track record of making good investments and sales for Serie A clubs;

Kolarov and Lichtsteiner. Combined fee of 1.7 million euros at Lazio - sold for 28 million euros.

Javier Pastore and Simon Kjaer. Combined fee of 9 million euros at Palermo - sold for 55million euros.

Marquinhos and Erik Lamela at Roma. Combined fee of 22.7 million euros - sold for 61.4 million euros.

Benatia would have a place in that portfolio too having arrived for 13m euros. Sabatini's forecast 2-3 months ago however was 61 million euros for Benatia!

Looking at his previous record, the deal is perhaps more possible than the statement suggests. Lamela and Marquinos were sold to big clubs afterall at reasonable prices.

Theres still quite a difference between 30m euros however, and the 60m he apparantly wants. I don't think its a good idea to get hopes up yet. It sounds as though there's a midpoint here, - perhaps around the £30m mark. Will LVG and Woodward pay that type of money for the player? I don't really know enough about Benatia to have an idea. He joined Roma last season. Anyone here been watching Serie A?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation - but the lemmings went with Twitter. If it has not been deleted you can find that.}
