Aymeric Laporte's being linked to us now.

The rumour is that Woodward flew out to Barcelona today not just to deal with Pedro but also Laporte who is due to play for Bilbao. Laporte signed a new contract recently with a £36.5m buy out clause, complex as we saw with Herrera yet possible. Only reporting what I have read.

Laporte + Stones = Yes

17 Aug 2015 20:49:24
The way laporte kept Messi quiet in the 1st leg was very impressive! If we get him I'd be extremely chuffed

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 20:55:38
Would Laporte improve us immediately or would he be a risk given the bedding in period required for such a young player? I haven't actually ever seen him play. Just wondering how much better he is than our current lot.

Woody better get his finger out with the pedro deal now debruyne says he's definitely staying with wolfsburg I would expect man City to press the button on trying to get him first.

Could only see stones coming if we were to ship Jones out as part of our core.

Benny, Laporte is the French Stones. He has however done it over multiple seasons, improving in each. He is very very composed has good height, he's fast, very good on the ball and very good defensively. He's also left footed so the perfect foil for Stones, thus my previous post!

Laporte would be a good edition.is he ready for the hassle of the PL???
We at least have built a relationship up with bilbao over the Harera deal

Calm down, that's not taken from Metro is it?

17 Aug 2015 22:49:27
Pedro's going nowhere, it's Dani Alves part 2, and why would we want him? He has great stats, but if he feels he's taking a step down then it's going to be like us signing di Maria all over again. There's plenty of young players who'll bust their balls to get into the side and now they have a manager who's willing to give them a chance.

17 Aug 2015 23:15:11
The answer to the is he ready question; probably, in the sane way Ramos is probably ready for the EPL. He's a very good player at a very young age with the potential to be a great player. Personally, that's good enough for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2015 00:09:04
Rewz he'll do for me too. Don't get all the fellow united fans clamouring for woody to close the deal on Pedro, like we won't have other options. I for one wouldn't be dissapointed if ed went on a plane flew back from Spain with laporte in this instance.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2015 12:24:04
Laporte would be a sensational signing no two ways about it! I really hope it comes off! He'd be in the back 4 for the next 10 years!

He's a thought, how about swapping De Gea for Varane?

If that happened, I'd be drooling perfusely!

Eds what's do you think about Otamendi, will he be wearing red or blue? Thanks for the site!

{Ed025's Note - blue..

Signing for Everton then ed Kenwright finally letting the mots out of the wallet

17 Aug 2015 16:46:21
Eds, I know that previously you've advised United have kept tabs on Toprak, Dragovic and Hinterregger. Has there been any movement on any of these players since Ramos has agreed a new deal and for the past few days Otamendi to City has become clear?

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not yet mate.}

17 Aug 2015 21:39:10
Thanks for the update Ed001. Hopefully we see some movement on a CB soon, any of the above would be an improvement on some of the options we have.

Hi eds I just wanted to know if LVG has any strikers on his mind because rooney does not look at his best I know its still early in the season but we going to need the fire power if we want to get far in the EPL and champs league thanks eds

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes, he is looking to add a forward as main priority, though he is trying out the options he has in the meantime.}

17 Aug 2015 20:06:34
Ed 001 forward as in Pedro??? Then officially out of the window?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Pedro yes, but that is not it done. Though I personally feel it is going to be a struggle to get a centre back if they don't hurry.}

17 Aug 2015 15:18:11
Reports that our scouts watched Berahino on Saturday. Any truth Ed's?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about Saturday, but it is certainly true that United are tracking him.}

17 Aug 2015 18:48:42
I like Berahino. I wouldn't be surprised if LVG wanted to work with the potential he has.

17 Aug 2015 19:13:18
I really really don't want us to sign this guy in my opinion he is completely overrated in the same class as sterling and 1 class above ballotelli

Agree0 Disagree5

17 Aug 2015 20:07:15
I'd take Berahino every day

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 20:47:00
Yep, i'd take Berahino also. IMO he's a natural finisher and looks as though he can create chances for himself. I don't think that our current back up to Rooney,- Hernandez or Wilson have that ability. I also think with better players around him he could do well.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 15:49:01
Apparently we have contacted west Bromwich regarding saido berahino, and they value him at £25 mil.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - £25m???...tell LVG that im selling a 1974 mini for £50,000.. :)

17 Aug 2015 16:27:09
Anything above 15m is too much

He's worth half that and that would be decent signing at 12.5million

17 Aug 2015 17:03:45
Get in the queue I have an old triumph motorbike for sale, well I didn't but I do now,£65!

Wouldn't mind swapping Hernandez and sending £10m their way.

Agree2 Disagree4

17 Aug 2015 18:00:18
I'd keep hernandez over berahino any day. Muller needs to be no 1 priority and pay whatever it takes and stop messing about

Agree3 Disagree1

17 Aug 2015 18:10:06
We need a world class striker who knows how to play the loan front man role won't get bullied in the EPL

PSG have put ibrahimovic up for sale this is a no brainer

LVG should swallow his pride and put our club first zlatan is exactly what we need up front it would automatically turn us into title contenders .

Agree2 Disagree1

17 Aug 2015 19:11:20
Not exactly aiming for the top, linked with bale, lewandowski,Miller, benzema and Berahino

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2015 20:20:45
Correct me if I'm wrong but did'nt berahino score 18 goals last season for west brom. Not bad going and why the obsession with a world class striker as they are mostly and probably unattainable. If berahino came to united and scored 18 goals I think most fans would be pleased and he's still young enough to have the potential to be better.

Agree3 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 20:45:01
At the end of the day what will be will be, we all know when united go in for someone the price goes up 10 fold.
Let's just hope we sign a striker and a cb. And then just maybe we can take are title back where it be longs THE THEATRE OF DREAMS.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2015 10:00:34
If memory serves, sir alex sometimes targeted players who did well against united. ronaldo, saha? From what i;ve seen, Berahino has always performed against us. maybe, just maybe?

17 Aug 2015 09:29:27
I'm starting to think that LVG might have some hidden cards in his pocket, that the media no nothing about. Remember Di Maria and Falcao last year. Just that any transfers that happen at the last moment will not be good for the players themselves, because the season will be well started and they will have to fit in as fast as possible. I'm expecting one more signing excluding Pedro's arrival that for me is imminent.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

17 Aug 2015 12:07:45
I think you could be right, he has most likely hidden the club credit cards in his pocket because since going on tour we have sold our most expensive player and replaced him with a free keeper.

Agree6 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 12:27:49
I truly hope so, I wanted ADM gone for reasons I've stated numerous times BUT I hoped it would mean the club bought a wide right forward which hasn't happened yet. Also I wanted RVP and Falcao gone, again in the hope of seeing another striker brought in.

I'm going to be careful what I wish for in future, hopefully the club comes good by the end of the window though!

My wide forward pick has always been Berardi, absolute goal threat, getting better and better each year. Quite a few Journalists have picked him to get the Capocannoniere.

For the Striker position I'm stuck, I always thought Mitovic suited what LVG wants from his striker, strong, quick, good movement, can create for himself and also hold the ball up and link play. I just can't think of a player, at the right age with those qualities. It's obvious Rooney is struggling but the others in the squad haven't had a chance so I would assume he doesn't trust them. Hopefully they get someone we can get excited about.

Why is nobody going after Reus? I don't specifically mean us (though I would love to see him at United!), but I haven't heard of anyone bidding for him?

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Aug 2015 13:04:10
i hope so too. LVG has done a lot right in getting rid of the deadwood (Anderson, Cleverly etc) instilling confidence in the players and being more positive than Moyes and he made some solid signings. however its baffling that we don't have a new CB or a striker. i know there is still 2 weeks to rectify this but after doing such a good job with sorting the midfield out i figured a CB and ST would be not far behind. LVG coming out and saying Rooney and Blind are guarenteed starters is a bad idea in my opinion as with no competion and a guarenteed start Rooney has no incentive to improve. i feel LVG is not going to sign a CB and stick with Blind who he seems to rate rather highly, perhaps he hopes he will turn into the player his father was? sadly he seems nothing more than a decent squad player

the whole De Gea thing is a mess too and needs to be sorted ASAP. Romero has done well but i'm not convinced he will help us to trophies

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 13:16:41
Who could have predicted that Ramos would sign a new deal, and say I never wanted to leave this club.
I hate Real Madrid.
Eds have Utd tried throwing silly money at De Gea to get him stay, every penny would be worth it to see that lot miss out?
Do you think Utd will try and keep what they have at the back with Blind, Smalling, Rojo and Jones?
There was also talk of Lewandowski being touted around a month or so ago, would a big bid get him or do bayern want to keep him.
Despite the signings we have made, all good and needed, it will feel poor if we don't add more come the end if the window.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2015 14:57:32
Man city 2 games 6 goals scored. man utd 2 games 1 goal scored and one own goal. Think it'd obvious were we are going to struggle if not soon rectified.Don't know if it's players not wanting to play under van gaal or we are not the draw we once we're for these so called superstars, either way we need some clout up front. Van Gaal is getting more arrogant by the day and I recall Bobby Charlton not wanting Jose Mourhino because of his arrogance and how he would damage the club. Van Gaal is doing the same with his slow ball style of football. The sooner he gets his pension the better. and to top it all looks like Otemendi is off to city. Ed. please have a word and explain that the fans are getting despondent.

You can judge everything from 2 games? Fantastic, we are better than Chelsea.

Maybe deals are hinging on us getting into champions league ? I know we are all fairly confident we will beat Brugge but anything can happen. Once qualified may see some major deals late on

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 20:58:21
Be fair, Rock, you cannot compare Mourinho with LVG. Van Gaal might be direct, blunt, even stubborn and headstrong, but he is not near the levels of arrogance of Mourinho, let alone obnoxious and disrespectful, or a sore loser.

Hi Eds, with Real Madrid looking like they are close to signing Kovacic, could this affect the future of Isco? If so, would we be interested in him? Thanks in advance.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - he is available but looks likely to be Vidal's replacement at the moment.}
