Read Contrao might be available for 12 million.that would be a steal if true. ads any truth to this

shahram

Coentrao would cost at least £20m. RM paid around £30m.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

That was 30 m euros not pounds
thats roughly 24 m pounds and it also included eziquel garay going in opposite direction coentrao's current market value will be around 15-18 m pounds

Agree0 Disagree0

For 15 Million he would be a great signing. C'mon fergie do something.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I'd like him anywhere near our club. Good player no doubt but has an attitude problem in him.

The guy is a bell**d and on top vastly over rated. baines IMO with his prem exp is a far better option for roughly the same price.

Jono

Agree1 Disagree1

No name, 30m euros then was £27.1m.

Market value has nothing to do with it, it's what RM value him at that matters.

He is still a top quality player and would still cost around £20m IMO.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

If he is avalible for anywere between 12m and 20m we should get him in he would be the perfect replacment for Evra but i can see us getting Baines at the end of the season who could equaly do the job but i would prefer Coentrao his four years younger than Baines so that swings it in his favour for me but Fergie seems to prefer prem experianced players so its more than likely Baines for about 16m dont think Blackett will be ready for next season and maybe Buttner will be the answer but my moneys on Baines . Katef

Agree0 Disagree1

Jono, I think he is better defensively than baines but does not have baines's crossing quality, but still very good.

He does not get many starts because of Marcelo who I think is very good,

Why don't you rate him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Coentrao and Alba i believe are the two best left fullbacks in the world at the moment. Either one of them at United in the future would be a miracle though.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Generally just don't like him. I laughed my t*ts off when madrid paid around 30m for him.

I think Baines would suit us perfectly for what we need out of our LB.

I would disagree with your analysis though as I think Baines is better both defending and at crossing but Coentrao is better with the ball at his feet as is a requirement for a Spanish LB.

I think his attitude is also a big question mark and in comparisson to Baines, Baines suits United down to the ground.

I rate Marcelo better than both but if I had the choice I would still take Baines.

Jono

Agree0 Disagree1

Baines for me all day long, Coentrao is a great player but hasn't got baines's attitude which suits utd. I'm not a big fan of Portuguese footballers, the biggest prima donnas of Europe (Ronaldo gets away with it because he is actually as good as he thinks!)

Snakey

Agree0 Disagree1

Coentrao is fantastic going forward,(he can play as winger), yet he's just goodish as a defender. If it's a question of Baines for 15m or Coentrao for 20m, I'd go for Coentrao everytime. He's younger, quicker and has more time to learn the United way then Baines.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder if baines is actually good enough for United
If I remember right isnt he very negative about himself?
surely a player who is very confident about his ability would be better than someone who doesnt think hes good enough?

I mean look at some of the english players liverpool signed in the last 18months they aren't bad players but couldn't take the step up

Agree0 Disagree0

Sometimes better that mate, than players thinking they're much better than they actually are.

StevieK

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a steal great talent that isnt a guaranteed starter but ferguson seems sound and settled on keeping evra and not finding a replacement in the near future

What about Paulinho as the Defensive Midfielder he is a great option strong powerful a much better player then Sandro he would also be pretty cheap he would be my preffered option any interest from us EDS?

RED91 {Ed002's Note - The answer is what you would expect with just coming up with the name of a player at random and asking if there is interest from Manchester United.}

Believable1 Unbelievable17

Sandro is used to playing in the league and wouldn't need to adapt so would be the better signing out of the 2. Whats to say Paulinho wouldn't flop or struggle to settle, far more of a gamble even with the offset of a lower price.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, you're my favourite of the ed's...it's your acerbic and withering retorts that make you triple amusing...

As soon as there is a match on tv and someone has a good game there is always at least 1 that comes on and says how about signing joe bloggs he looks good.

Honestly if sky televised my local school team from the butt hole of Ireland some person would be calling for us to sign the kid that scored 2 goals !

Devil Dust.

Ok boys and girls. Christmas is just over a week away. Hard to beleive i know but while you're out there buying for you kids, wife or family, spare a thought for the thousands of kids who will wake up on Christmas morning with nothing to open. We all know times are difficult and people are struggling but some more than others. I could be your next door neighbour or the kid your child sits next to at school. It might be one of us next year. There are plenty of charities willing to take in extra presents like Churches, local radio stations, Salvation Army, the list is endless. So while you are maxing out your credit card stick and extra £10 or £20 on it for someone not so fortunate if you can afford it. While you're handing your present in you will feel 2 inches taller (and we all know we could do with a few extra inches). Trust me, it will make you feel really good about yourself. Thanks for reading.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - A nice sentiment IR.}

Believable50 Unbelievable9

Rover mate it has been too long and I miss the banter. But as always you have shown your class. Now how about a little bit more abuse. I AM KLOOT

Agree1 Disagree0

Just to echo these thoughts and something else to bear in mind when you do give. Sorry to get religious here for a minute but the jewish word meaning "to give" is spelt NATAN. It is a palindrome ie reads the same backwords or forwards which is to tell us that at the same as "giving" we also "receive " something. Want proof? Dont you feel good when you give charity...and by giving to others in need we help build a better society by showing a caring side. And that benefits us all .............so to everyone out there dig deep to help those who really do need it most.

Merry Xmas to you all

(PS being charitable to those in need most does not extend to Liverpools transfer kitty even though they are in dire need of some decent players......there is no point in throwing good money after bad :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

In order for Rover to have ammunition either Liverpool must be doing well or we must be doing bad. So we will not be seeing much of Rover I'm afraid. I guess we may see him when we get knocked out of the UCL. That is always a big day for the Scousers.

Sydney!

And so say all of us. Top post and superb sentiment. Xmas is upon us and we we must all give to people not as lucky as us. We follow united so how lucky are we!

Nice for a change.....but woud be even nicer if the lads on mega bucks in the league would all pool together and make a big lump sum donation to a charity instead of the jewler or the car dealership

Agree0 Disagree0

I.R. that is a really good post, probably the best I've read on here. We always give something. It would be a measure of Man Utd class, if all the players gave a days pay to charity. Happy holidays to all you readers and eds, what ever your nationality, religion, gender or sexuality.
