I think looking at the past summer, and looking at the names we have been linked with, then i think this is a good guess at how summer may pan out for us:

Outs:

Kusczack - FREE
De Laet - FREE
James - FREE
Wooton - 500k
Berbatov - £5-8 million
Owen - FREE
R. Brown - £750k
W. Keane - Loan 6 months
D. Petrucci - Loan 6 months
S. Johnstone - Loan 6 months

Ins:

Benatia - FREE (I think his contracts up)
van Wolfswinkel - £11 million
Gaitan - £25 million

Full time promotions:

Pogba
Fryers
Keane + Petrucci when back from loan

I think those moves gives us a healthy looking squad, once again no superstars signed, just good quality and talented individuals who will bring alot to the squad.

There are no 'outrageous' or unrealistic moves here so i'm interested to see what ya'll think!

UnitedForever

Believable16 Unbelievable18

Benatia got 2 years left on his contract possibly 3

Agree0 Disagree0

I expect Will Keane to have 2 years on loan before being promoted full time. Maybe a year and a half. He is still so young. Petrucci will be given atleast a full season on loan IMO to prove that he can manage a full competitive season after all of his injuries.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you must be drunk to come up with and think it'll improve our squad

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't get rid of Wooton ! He's a good prospect !

Whatever happened to yohann gourcuff? He was amazing a few years ago and haven't heard about him since, is he still playing? he was once recommended by King Eric - who i know recommended William Prunier all those years ago (anyone of heard of him?... i know) but surely gourcuff would be different he was supposed to take over from zidane for france, probably not as good but who is, or will be?

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Hi,
Gourcuff moved to lyon for 20m 2 yrs ago and has never reached his bordeaux level, tidy passer, good engine but doesn't beat players or score anymore, he is also being played in a deeper role when he can get in the side, lost his place in france team too, I think we have seen the best of him and should just accept he was a cracking talent for 2rys. formed a brilliant partnership with chamak(who was never prolific AFC fans)

Agree0 Disagree0

Gourcuff had a good spell when he was playing at Bordeaux but he was a big fish in a little pond. He stood out from the rest at that club because he was better than all of them.

Now he's playing at Lyon, he's playing with other players that are just as good and he doesn't stand out anymore because of that.

Manchester united to give Brazilian striker kerlon a 3 month trial after inter agree he hasn't turned out as planed

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Really? that would be funny, I remember we were interested in his seal dribble tekkers then he's been injury prone from what I know. No harm trialing him!

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Wheres that come from not heard his name mentioned for years and apparently he makes owen hargreaves look like superman

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt it. How often do we give trials?
You're either good enough or you're not, surely?
It's not like Kerlon is a kid we want to have a look at, we've been looking (linked) at him for a while, i'm sure we'd know if he was good enough by now.

Agree0 Disagree0

We gave Rafael leao a trial and put him in the reserves

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats my point exactly...
Rafael Leao is what? 16 or 17 years old?
Kerlon is 23/24.
At that age i doubt very much we'd be doing trials. Rafael, yes, becasue he is a kid.
Kerlon is plenty old enough to have shown his worth/ability.

Agree0 Disagree0

No one gets 3 month trials at Old Trafford, I'm not sure if any EPL team gives such long trials. When a team has a player for 3 months it's called a loan

personally if in the summer a good enough offer came in i would sell nani. I'd give valencia the number shirt and have him first choice on the right with young as the backup and rotation option. I'd then buy a top class left footed left winger and promote brady to the backup and rotation option. Nani for me is capable of some great skill but wildly inconsistant for me.

Believable17 Unbelievable16

Cannot agree with this more, way too inconsistent.

Agree0 Disagree0

See you're saying this mainly due to his performance last night, which he didn't play well but has just come back from injury and didn't look like he was taking any risks to sustain further injury. Consistency is his weakest point, which is a shame because its important in football. But look at his stats, he's done a lot for us.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

You would sell him, do you own him? By what you said you think Brady is better than Nani, do be serious.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Mmm....why do we always want to sell nani after a couple of off days?
he's just come back from injury and wingers always dip in and out of form.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell Nani? Personally i think you should stop smoking the wacky baccy and watch him, he has two good feet, excellent foot speed, excellent dribbler and has improved a hell of a lot, why sell him and start again? i say keep him and buy a left winger ANYWAY! G. Bale top of the list. When Giggs retires in a couple years Bale will be the next number 11.

United red forever

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you will find that in the summer if Gaitan comes in Nanni will be moved on. Both are clients of George Mendis and unfortunate though it is , George calls the shots , moving players around is how he makes his money.
Raffa

Agree0 Disagree0

GDS where did i say that Brady was better than Nani? I didn't i just said promote him to be back up for the left wing.

Use Young as back up for the right, he would be much better playing there, wouldn't have to cut in all the while.

Use Valenica as first choice on the right and sign a left footed left winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think this is bob on, Nani is a player made for tv highlights- does 3 decent things a match, the rest is God awful but doesn't make the program so no one notices how toss he is. His selfishness astounds me.

Why Welbeck and Valencia/Young aren't in the Pedro/Etoo/Villa positions rather than playing the Mike Bassett 442 also shocks me, as we'd be lethal with that and Rooney could get involved more...but I'm not SAF.

Do people still think old fashioned wingers are a legitimate attacking force in the modern game? (this is a genuine question and not rhetorical or patronising)

Jack

Agree0 Disagree0

His selfishness?
please check the season stats. i think you'll have your foot in your mouth when you see he had the highest assists last season and is definitely top 3 this season.
so please, do use the internet more wisely instead of just bashing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani is the only player in the squad able to create something out of nothing, has way more good games than bad and improves every year. check out his stats + our stats when he plays, he's a very important player for us
brendan

Agree0 Disagree0

If United were to sell a winger Ashley Young would be my choice to go. Nani would be one of the players I'd least;like to see go. Only Wayne would be higher up my list. I admit Nani can be annoying and greedy, but he has 2 good feet, pace, tricks aplenty and a magic that very few players have. There are only 2 wingers that I would prefer - Messi and Ronaldo, our chances of getting them are zero. Even if Ronaldo wanted to come home, do you think the Glaziers would cough up 100 million euros for a 27 year old, or anyone for that matter. Valencia has had a wonderful period of top form, but given the choice I would sell Valencia before Nani. Valencia has 8 assists this season and 3 or 4 goals, Nani has 6 assists and 6 goals. However if you look at the stats of them in total, Nani has scored 3 times more goals than Valencia and twice as many assists.

The press have linked us with Adil Rami from Valencia this morning. With this in mind and the fact we have also been linked to Alba from Velencia, if we were to make 2 major signings in the summer and they had to come from one club who would everyone want??

examples of players already linked.

Athletic Bilbao - Iker Munain & Javi Martinez

Valencia - Adil Rami & Jordi Alba

Borussia Dortmund - Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels, Shinji Kagawa, Mario Gotze

Benfica - Nicolas Gaitan & Javi Garcia

Mine would be the pair from AB...... Munain & Martinez.... I love M&M's

oxred

Believable12 Unbelievable4

Modric and Bale for me! Never going to happen though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a fan of m&m's myself only the chocolate ones though ! Personally i'd take Wilshere and van persie, If we were getting 2 from one club
SC

Agree0 Disagree0

2 From 1 for me would have to be Goetze and Hummels from Dortmund

Agree0 Disagree0

Very interesting... was only thinking about those linked..... but modric and bale have been... (do not know why I did not even think of them)...

wilshere and van would be good... so would ozil & Ronaldo.... lol

oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

What is this, buy one player get the second player with a free cupcake? Only realistic duo that could happen Clyne and Zaha. Young British talent.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Mine would be Martinez with one of Muniain or Gotze.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

What about eriksen and verthogen
young versatile get them both for 30m there abouts

Agree0 Disagree0

Goetze and Hummels for sure, but that's never going to happen.

Ruudinthemood

Agree0 Disagree0

If were going to go with ronaldo and ozil then what about messi and iniesta? or messi and pique? hah thats probably the most likely of all these to happen ;) but i would take any of them except javi garcia and gaitan. but what about hulk and gaitan? or hamsik and cavani? or ganso and neymar? my preference of the above mentioned would be gotze and hummels or m&m

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Eriksen and Vertonghen from Ajax

Sir Alec likes the GGs.

guys ..guys
official news announced by Mario.G Agent that Man utd have bid 33 million pound and wil respond to this offer after few dayS...
What say chuter..ed/syd?

BarbiE {Ed002's Note - Twitter I assume. It is not true, there has been no £33M bid from Manchester United.}

Believable2 Unbelievable7

33 Million for a 19 year old? Yeah we're signing Desomond Tutu for 45 Million too, oh and on top of that Mary Poppins may come for 12 Million.

Agree0 Disagree0

His agent just listed a bunch of clubs that have been interested in Mario.. Man united being one of the best to mention to bring the price up of the player ;)

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont know why people are saying 33 mil is too much for a 19 year old. Rooney was 18 and we paid 27 mil for him - and that was 7 years ago- prices are bound to be higher now than they were 7 years ago and gotze has showed similiar potential to rooney when he was that age. ....by the way rooney being english doesnt count for an inflated price tag because gotze is german and that is just as diffiicult as buying an englishman because they are so damn good!
Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be very happy with that, we need to spend so therefore at £33 million i think it would be a snatch.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

I not sure why £33m is surprising, he is one of the hottest properties in Europe and I dont think they are desperate to sell him. I doubt very much we have anyway. can you outside of transfer window? Sure there ways round it I guess
Woffsta

Agree0 Disagree0

£33m aint that expensive for a 19 year old player that will be world class. He could potentially stay for the whole of his career which could be 15 years

Agree0 Disagree0

I could see Gotze going to Spain for 40 -45 million! He's very young, already world class and will only get better. If he stays at Dortmund till he's 21 -22 he could be a 50 million+ player

Pogba off to Juventus according to Tuttosport. Not surprising if it's true. The youth team seem to think they are worth millions after winning the youth cup... ridiculous.

Get rid of any of the young ones who think they've made it. They seem to chase the money and a place in the starting XI when they're not ready, it's quite sad and shows what agents are doing to the game.

Thank God the youth rules have changed so we can hunt around for English youth players. At least they are somewhat more loyal.

Believable1 Unbelievable13

Ah Tuttosport, always spot on. Remember reading on there that we have signed Wesley Sneijder 18 months ago, he has done well for us hasn't he?

The 'We don't need him because he thinks he's made it' attitude about a situation that you actually know nothing about is ridiculous.

If Juventus are willing to pay 'millions' then does that not mean he actually is worth 'millions'?

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

That website is biased toward juve, dont sweat it

Agree0 Disagree0

English players more loyal ? pretty sure weve just sold one of the best youngsters to come through the reserves because he wanted to leave and he was english, all young players want big wages ow because they think there better that they actually are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba will sign a new contract before the end of the season. Deal is agreed in principle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Morrison is English mate..
And really it's Morrisons agent that was being the real numnut! Just filling Ravel's head with sh!t. Pogba's agent is trying the same but i think Pogba knows he's nearer to the first team, and that he wants to be at united. Doubt Pogba will go anywhere, he's sitting on the bench most games now, and he said he's lovin every minute of it!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were to hunt around these young English players who are more loyal, surely their great loyalty would mean they would feel obliged to stay at their current club instead of joining United. A bit contradicting imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

He won't be going anywhere as United have an option to extend his contract untill June 2013.
He will sign a new contract before the end of this season.
