Been to Old Trafford today at the United shop. Staff in there were hinting of 2 more signings a striker and midfielder. They were saying with the departure of Berbatov and Owen Fergie always believes of having 4 strikers. But that leaves us with 3, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez. And they said 2 midfielders were always a priority. Now that Kagawa is in the bag one more should be on the way. No names were mentioned.

Wow can't believe the top brass at old Trafford divulge our transfer activity to staff earning minimum wage . Maybe all are signings are approved by the club shop staff first

Perhaps they were trying to sell you a Berbatov shirt in the Clearance sale, before whispering "you could get a shirt that has 'New Mystery Striker' on the back for half price"?

Manchester United are targeting Ganso from Santos, would be brilliant for the midfield! Would he be a good addition to the squad?
Believable29
Unbelievable13
He is exactly the same kind of player as kagawa. It wont happen.
Agree0
Disagree0
Ganso isn't like Kagawa at all. Kagawa plays in the hole. or out wide on the left. Ganso plays more like Modric, a genuine central midfielder, he's far better than Modric though. I would love him at United, But he seems to have his heart set on Italy. However, with SAF charm you never know. Figures like 25 million quid have been mentioned. Far better deal than 32 million for Modric. Ganso scores more, has more assists, is 4 years younger, all round better deal. The only advantage there is with Modric, is that we know he can cut it in the EPL, but am sure Ganso would adapt. Shame our chances can't be higher than 15%

do people agree that with the arrival of kagawa we will not see the arrival of an attacking midfielder such as ganso, sneijder etc and in fact more likeley to see the arrival of a defensive minded midfielder eg strootman, tiote, mvila. or are you in the opinion that we will go for another attacking mided central midfielder ? i would love to see ganso (paulo henrique) arrive at the club ..
Believable23
Unbelievable9
SAF said a few weeks ago that United have never had just a defensive mid, rarely even attacking mids usually just box-to-box so you could argue with the addition of an attacking mid (Shinji) that a defensive mid could be brought in to compensate. Can only wait and find out!

Ed, for the uneducated amongst us, would u mind explaining briefly how these part ownership's work? {Ed002's Note - It is simply a financial agreement where the rights to the player are owned not by a single club, but by more than one party. This could be two football clubs, a club and an agent, a club and an investor. English clubs can be part owners of players, but players with part ownership are not allowed tyo play in England.}

Cut and Paste
Kaka will leave Real Madrid this summer, according to the president of his former club Sao Paulo - and moving to England is an option.
The Brazilian began his professional career at Sao Paulo before moving to AC Milan in 2003, where he became a global star.
It appeared he would stay at Milan for life - even after the infamously mooted move to Manchester City in which then chief executive Garry Cook claimed Milan 'bottled it' over a £100m bid.
But Real Madrid came calling in the summer of 2009 and Kaka moved to the Bernabeu for around £54m.
His time in Spain has been blighted by injury and loss of form, though, and it appears Kaka could leave this summer.
Paulo de Jesus Lopes, the president of Sao Paulo who is understood to be in contact with Kaka, reckons the 30-year-old has decided to quit Madrid this summer.
"Kaka has decided to quit Madrid," he told O Globo in Brazil. "He believes that England or remaining in Spain would be two interesting destinations for him. Sao Paulo can't afford him as his price-tag is astronomical and out of the reality of Brazilian football."
Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked to Kaka in the past and news of his situation at Madrid is likely to trigger their interest again.
Is he a possibility? {Ed002's Note - Possibly in part exchange for Modric.}
Believable4
Unbelievable18
Ed002 do you think Kaka would join a club who's not in the champions league? {Ed002's Note - Yes.}
Agree0
Disagree0
But Ed002 could Spurs really afford the wages Kaka will be after? Especially having missed out on Champions League again
Also - I wouldn't want Kaka at United. I don't think we should be going for ageing 'stars' on big wages, especially if they have a bad injury record and have never played in the Prem. Recipe for disaster I would have thought
Gav {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid will offer up Kaka or Diarra as part of a part exchange deal for Modric - Kaka would need to be enticed to reduce his wage demans but will not be shocked at the request - as it was a point of discussion recently when he was offered as part of another deal - that obviously did not come off. I would doubt he would end up at Spurs.}

Truth be told, Paulo de Jesus Lopes is not São Paulo's president: it's Juvenal Juvencio aka "JJ".

Doesn't sound like the kind of conversation David Gill would have on record.
Agree with the poster who said saying that would do Kagawa no good at all.
Can't see Gill prioritising new signings like that at all.
Saying that Kagawa is less important/necessary than some other unnamed player seems a tad fanciful to be honest and not the best way to support new players.

I wouldn't be to dissapointed, I can't find any source saying Gill has said this and I also don't think he would be that stupid. You don't get to be Chief Executive at the biggest club in the world if you leak to the press or just anyone about priority targets.

I don't think that M'Vila is going to come in although a while ago i read that two EPL bids had been accepted, maybe us and Arsenal? I would still rather have Cabaye or Modric though, they are so well suited for us, much more so than M'Vila is.
RedDevil19
Agree0

M'vila will be one of if not the best holding players in the world. He is perfect to compete with/replace Carrick. for 18m or around that price he is a bargain. 10 x better than Strootman and better than Tiote!

17 Jun 2012 13:05:48
Where are all these allegid French reports coming from where M'Vila said he woudl choose between Man Utd and Arsenal? I can't find it anywhere...M'Vila would be a good signing, as long as the baggage that he comes with could be knocked out of him by SAF. If anyone could do it then i'm sure SAF could. He is certainly a better option than Tiote is as he cannot pass a ball at all. M'Vila would give us a bit of sting and would probably also suggest that we are going to rely on Cleverly and Scholes creativeness instead of signing the likes of Modric (i would prefer us to sign Modric).
In terms of price for M'Vila, i imagine it would be around £20 million. Getting Kagawa and M'Vila for under £40 million would be excellent business i suspect. I would still think that anothjer 'first teamer' woudl come in, but perhaps not a big name one, maybe a Nathaniel Clyne who is young but is ready to play or someone like Bryan Oveido who we need to give competition to Evra.
The only other signing i would like to see is Bale, i remain convinced that if he is available then we will go in for him. There is always room at Manchester United for a world class talent. If Kagawa plays well, then I think if we got Bale, we would possibly sell Young the following summer, then have Welbeck, Nani, Valencia and Bale as the wide options which doesn't look half bad for me.

Sell Young?..your clueless!
Agree0
Disagree0
You're right, there is always room at United for world class talent, but what's that got to do with Bale?
The two just don't go together.
Nani>Bale
Young>Bale
Rooney(on the left)>Bale
Welbz(on the left)>Bale
Another person fixated on buying over priced players. Bale is no more consistent than anyone we have at the moment. And certainly not £30mil+ better than what we have.
Modric and Bale are a disaster waiting to happen.
Bob
Agree0
Disagree0
Sorry but Nani is not better than Bale. Technically he looks better and he might have the odd game that shows him to be better, however, he is more style than substance imo and i think these contract negotiations show that we dont value him as much as he thinks.
Agree0
Disagree0
I don't understand some of the opinions on Bale, it just boggles the mind. I've read people saying that he can't cross, he has no touch or technique.....It's madness. I mean I could start listing stats and so on, but I don't need to, just open your eyes and watch football. If we signed him, it would fantastic.
WizardOzmand
Agree0

So wait, you know better then the likes of Jose Mourinho on who's a world class talent do you? Bale is definately world class and brought in to a team like Man Utd he would only get more consistent and is definately better and younger then Young and Nani 4 and 3 years respectively. I would love to see Gareth bale at MU.
Kai
Agree0
Disagree0
Lets get realistic, its going to cost more for bale and modric than what has been reported! the other stumbling blocks are these, bale has stated he will not be moving & modric hasn't made rumblings and grumbles like he did last year & why are the spurs fans eager for him to go?
Agree0
Disagree0
Bale is a class player and I'm sure we will be in for him again if he becomes available (we tried to get him while at Southampton remember so Uncle Fergie rates him). The Redkanpp leaving and no Champs League combo at Spurs MAY make that possible.
Nani is not better than Bale.
The obsession some have with Nani being world class is unbelievable from my perspective but life and indeed this site are about opinions.
I believe United would be a stronger team though with Bale in it rather than Nani hence as we look to be stalling on giving Nani a new contract I think his days in a United shirt are numbered.
If we had signed Hazard do we not think Nani would have gone almost immediately to part-finance the deal ? Love it or loathe it I think both he and Anderson and Berbatov have played their last games for the club.

Despite there being a plague of agents these days, no player will finalize a deal while playing in the Euros. If you cast your minds back a couple of weeks you'll find that Nani and United said they will sort a contract out after the Euros. Bale is a good player, but he just isn't 40m+ and that's what the spuds would want. Modric may go for 30m. It is unlikely that United will pay 30m for anyone at the moment. The Glazers have far bigger debts then was believed, their businesses stateside are severely in debt, as is their team that plays the daft American version of rugby.

It's called negotiation by his loud mouthed (aren't they all), agent. I expect and certainly hope Nani will be with us next season. He is so much better than Young. Young has looked weak and off the pace for England, as well as 3/4 of last season for united. On the other hand Nani has been the stand out player for Portugal. He'll get 125,000 grand per week next year. The one unlikely proviso, is if united waste 40m on Bale. However, I can't see united blow all or even more than our whole kitty on one good, but not brilliant player.I feel we'll probably go for Tiote and someone Marvin Martin and Willems for 35million. The other possibility is not buying any players except one or two sub 10 million youngsters - I hope this isn't the case though
