Reports in Spain suggest Thiago Alcantara has informed Barcelona of his intention to leave, according to catalan sport paper Sport. At least two offers from Premier League clubs

MS

Believable38 Unbelievable8

I've also read something similar, he wants regular playing time to try cement a spot in the Spanish national team for the 2014 world cup, considering 2 or 3 offers from PL clubs.

Fingers crossed De Gea could have persuaded him.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Although I do like Thiago, but there is a reason why City and RM are putting in bids for Isco. Sure would be nice to have Isco, Thiago and Kagawa as an attacking midfield with Carrick or Jones sitting behind them.

Agree2 Disagree0

I just hope City don't sign Isco, he is absolute class and it the best of the bunch from that Spain U21 squad.

Simmo

Agree2 Disagree0

I watched the Spain v Norway U21 (I know it was "only" Norway but they knocked England out) and Cisco and Thiago were brilliant and exactly what we need.
I previously thought Fabregas and Thiago was a dream team in midfield (but unrealistic) but now I think Thiago and Cisco are the future and surely we might have a chance with DDG already settled and with a medal in his pocket and hopfully Thiago coming.

With DDG hopefully singing our praises perhaps the 3 Amigos could be re-United?
Colin the Red

Agree1 Disagree0

Is that Cisco fro Thong Song Fame?

Agree0 Disagree0

No it is The Cisco Kid. It is Isco's nick name to his close friends.

now have CR7 4/6 to join MUFC. could it happen?

Believable51 Unbelievable48

Who has
DarrenUtd.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but he also 2/13 to stay st Real Madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

He is no way coming - end of.

Agree0 Disagree1

FFS there is that chuffing "End of" quote again! When will you kids learn.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

TK-rED,

sorry but its all MONEY orintated - MU won't pay for 1. transfer
2. his wages
also there is no doubting he's an incredible player and I for one love him, watched every RM game on tv he's played in since he left - BUT if say we spent £60 on him, shelf life 3-4 years sell on no where near that!

Agree0 Disagree0

The fitness level Ronnie has would enable him to play on for at least another 5/6 years. Not saying he coming or not but he is an athlete and has suffered very little in the way of injuries so could play till at least 35 and still be incredibly effective.

Would love him to return but can't see it happening.

tv have been told that Wayne Rooney is adamant that he is leaving Manchester United this summer but will remain in England.

I for one am not fussed what he does, might even be for the best that he does move on.
Judging by some fans reactions at the Swansea game & the trophy parade, he might well get a poor reception at the start of next season anyway, which isn't what Moyes needs. I expect Arsenal, City & Chelsea to be keen - We won't sell to City & can't imagine him wanting to play for Arsenal ('lack of ambition and all. ') leaving him to link up with Jose at Chelsea!

Nick

Believable37 Unbelievable20

Hope he does go, can do without all this fuss about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let him go! overweight mercenary!

Agree0 Disagree0

A boy that never grew up. Peter Pan - No! Frying Pan - Yes

Say once you want to leave, that is excusable banter. Say a second time. and its time to "go away, in short sharp jerky movements".

Sell now, whilst the Yellow stickers are available in his size.

Agree2 Disagree0

Unless a top striker or top midfielder comes in we shouldn't let him go anywhere. By top I mean Lewandowski or Fabregas.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree4

Quite agree Sydney, unless he's replaced with top quality don't let him leave

Agree0 Disagree1

Andy Carroll is going for as little as fifteen million. I think he'd be a good signing, would give us the big powerful physical striker with aerial threat that we've been missing for years. Better than trying out donkey's like Diouf and Manucho.

Agree0 Disagree9

Yep, need a top class replacement if we let him go

Agree0 Disagree0

Really p!sses me off to see fans slate him so much, okay he might want to leave but it could be for a number of reasons. Beckam left, Van Nistelrooy left, Ronaldo left yet they're still loved! Regardless of what happens to Rooney, you can't deny he has been amazing for us. So many goals and assists.

Moments like scoring an overhead kick to win a derby match against City. he should not receive this abuse IMO.

He's still more influential than a fair few of our current players too so like Syd said unless we bring in a top class talent as a replacement we need to keep him.

Ozwald

Agree2 Disagree1

Not sure I believe this anyway, moyes is away on hols and surely Rooney will speak to him before a decision is made.
Bohzman {Ed004's Note - I reckon they would have already spoken. There are many ways to get in touch now a days and utd will have made plans before Moyes left}

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I would like to see him
Kept and regain form I do agree with Sydney that if sold wed need a top replacement, was just wondering apart from the obvious been Ronaldo but could marchisio also be classed as a top quality signing. If so would asking for strootman Thiago and marchisio be greedy as it would provide us with depth in our poorest area

19JackC94

Agree0 Disagree0

We will regret selling him. Hazard Rooney Mata will be a very good attacking front.
So anyone just wanting to sell him better start thinking how we can replace him? If you would like, e to enlighten us, then we're all ears?
Nomidfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald

Calm down sunshine, he's hardly getting slated here is he?

The lad has asked to leave our club twice now which understandably has meant parts of our fan-base has lost patience with him.

If he stays I can see it disrupting the start of our season.

As far as a replacement goes, he doesn't play as a 'striker' for us & we have one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe in our ranks with Shinji. If we sign a decent midfielder then we'll be sound.

Nick

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree Ozwald, although he hasn't carried himself in glory off of it and maybe hasn't quite became the player we expect, forgetting the last 18 months he has been one of if not the most influential player for us and is still one of our best players. I have to say now I am also not fussed if he stays or goes now but show the man some respect for being a top player for the club like Ronaldo and Ruud who both also asked to leave and possibly during more than one season too just like Rooney who has given his all for the club regardless of what shape you think he is in the guy doesn't stop running. Regarding a replacement, what has happened to all the people saying Kagawa will step up next season, I hope he does but I am not so sure he will to quite the level we hope for. Personally even saying that if Rooney is sold I would like the money to go towards a really superb wide player Bale and Ronaldo the obvious ones mentioned but there are a few more big named youngsters personally I haven't seen that much of like Lamela. I think it is probably time for Rooney and the club to part and move on, but I wish people would stop talking like he some lard arse talentless player which is certainly not the case. fickle forgetful fans
Invisible Stuey

Agree1 Disagree0

Ozwald

Im with you and syd in that unless a top class replacement is signed then we shouldn't let hom go.
However the situations when ruud, becks and ronnie left were totally different than rooneys situation. The issue iv got with him isn't the actual transfer requests but the attitude he portrays.
He held us to ransom to get a £200k a wk contract and questioned our ambition with a lack of quality signings. We brought in rvp last summer and rooney lost his place in his favourite position and his, reaction was to pile on a few pounds, stroll around the pitch throwing his arms about then chuck his toys out the pram and ask for another transfer.
Hes wayne rooney NOT manchester united, if he wants to go and a quality replacement is brought in then personally I couldn't care less. If he comes back for pre-season in top condition then obviously my feelings would be different and i'm sure that would prove to the doubters (like me) that he, actually wants to be here and fight for his place

BABY FACED ASSASIN

Agree1 Disagree0

How can u all not care if he goes. His record in last 75 games is phenomenal. Goals and assists. He's unhappy at playing out of position. Buy midfielders and wingers. Play him up top (where he is happy and at his best). And watch him go, I'm not happy he asked to leave but he's unhappy So either let him go (and regret it). Or play him in his best position. Like 90% of footballers he needs to feel loved. And obviously him and fertile fell out of love. Losing both in 1 summer no matter who comes in would be terrible.

Graham

Agree1 Disagree1

I'd sell him tomorrow if we could get Lewandowski though

Agree1 Disagree0

Surely the only way he stays is if he signs a new contract. If he accepts a pay cut then maybe he will. Cannot see that happening. Can't blame him for not waiting to play for Moyes.
I see Chelsea as his ideal move, he'll play up top instead of Torres and Mourinho is a big fan. If he doesn't sign then he must go this Summer or his value plummets. Our hand might be forced either way.
The simple fact remains, on current form he's not a £200k pw player. I too hope he returns to top form and fitness but I don't think his heart is in it anymore so perhaps a new challenge is best for him. As long as we get top £ for him then I'll accept him as simply another good player gone, United will move on. Ideally he'll move abroad but don't be surprised to see him at OT next season in Chelsea blue.

Stockie

Agree0 Disagree0

We have excellent strikers in RVP, Chico and Henriquez (& Welbeck). Kagawa should play in the hole - if Rooney goes we will have it covered. We need midfielders, that is all.

nip

Agree0 Disagree0

United would be absolutely crazy to sell Rooney. Like the last 8/9 years, he's guaranteed to contribute for part of the season at least (everyone's entitled to an off form period). Fergie spent time massaging ego's - Cantona, Ronaldo and Keane to name a few. This is clearly the same issue. Moyes needs to manage this - and if he has any sense he will. What a risk it would be to let him go - Rooney fits in midfield, tracks back gets his fair share of goals and knows the club and other players inside out. Fair enough he's offended some fans but I (and plenty more) won't complain when he bangs in the winner late in a league games next winter. Ask yourself would Lewy etc really bed in as well as what we have now - can we really be certain we'll get the same return?

Bohzman

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are people asking for a top replacement? Rooney can't even make our starting 11, nor have a position he calls his own. How exactly is he a top player for us?
As for the Becks and Ruud situations, they didn't ask to leave, Fergy sold them on his own.
Having Rooney is a liability, not to mention making us look stupid as a club. Demanding more money first time around, now put in another request. Has he performed to earn £250k a week. Far from it!
He has NEVER been the main player, he's always been second fiddle. First Ruud was ahead, then Ronaldo now RVP.

Time to sell, let's get players who want to play for us. Doesn't matter where he goes even if Chelsea, can you see him starting ahead of Mata, don't think so

i can't immagine what people say and how they see things. rooney is that -1 he is being critisize by fans that he has lost his form, my question is, how can he lost his form when he play midfied instead of his preffered striking/behind strike position. play rvp there and see whether he will do well. my point is, rooney is in form whether u fans agree with me or not, because he is helping our team in playing midfield which is out of his preffered place yet we can not complements for helping this great club in the position we need to strengthen for years now, play rup there and what I am talking whether it will not be the same case whth rooney.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney has been a prat, but he has always produced for us, even this his worst season. Hernandes isn't very good except in the box, Danny is good everywhere but in the box, but Ronney is a fine all round player. He gives his all, is the best passer at United now Scholes has locked up his boots He can play in any attacking position. I hope he stays. If he is adamant about leaving we should sell him abroad and for 35+
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney is still one of our best players. Anyone saying he hasn't been good lately check out his goals and assists for the season, and the fact that he has been played out of position nearly every game. He's actually done pretty damn well.

Last time he asked to leave he was voicing EXACTLY THE SAME CONCERNS WE FANS WERE. This time, he's been shunted around, used as a utility man, and criticized for not being as good while playing out of position as he was up front. Would we be criticizing rvp for not being at his best if we played him on the wing? No, so why criticize Rooney for being played out of position, and being unhappy about it. Most players who get constantly played out of position complain a lot sooner than he has.

Take it or leave it, some family members of mine that live in Turin and support Juventus have said that it is expected that Nani + Cash is going to be offered to Juventus for Marchisio. Not saying this is reliable, just what the Italian side of my family have said!

Believable25 Unbelievable23

That would be a decent deal all round - Juventus want Nani - we need a DM, Marchisio would be a great pick - would this rule out signing strootman? {Ed004's Note - Marchisio is not a dm he is a box to box player who is good on the ball. I reckon he would be a good partner for Carrick with Kagawa ahead of him or Alcantara playing beside him}

Agree1 Disagree1

Agree to it being a good deal, Juve would be mad to let him leave. I still want Alcantara as my number one target but would also sign Marchisio at the drop of a hat. Both class acts!

El Gato

Agree1 Disagree0

No offence to your family Fresh, however what was it Ferguson said about Italians and checkign under there pasta :)
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha, very good Stuey. I think the ideal would be Marchisio and Thiago. But I fancy we will get Strootman & Thiago.

However I do get excited at the thought of a midfield 3 of Thiago, Carrick and Marchisio with Kagawa in front.

I'd rather have Strootman and van Ginkel.

Agree1 Disagree1

Your mad
Paddy The Irish Man

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes Thiago is the dream for me. Marchisio would certainly be a good signing, though he seems to play further forward even though he is box to box, could the pair of them work for example as a two man midfield do you think? Strootman personally i'm underwhelmed by regardless of whether he fits the profile of the type of player that we may need, good but good enough for more than a squad role?
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree0

Thiago, Carrick and Marchisio with Kagawa and CR7 behind RvP. We can dream!

Agree1 Disagree0

An Italian friend is a Juve fan and he says Marchisio is their best player and won't be sold at any price.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's ridiculous to compare Strootman to Marchisio. Strootman is a 15m player, made for WBA or Stoke. The Italian however is world class and would command a fee of 30m Euros+
Mik

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed 004 with that midfield of marchisio carrick alacantra and shinji do you think utd woul play without their traditional widemen

justpij {Ed004's Note - No I doubt it unless Kagawa starts out wide}

Not sure if we're still interested in Eriksen anymore but seems Dortmund are favorites to sign him.

Believable16 Unbelievable10

I think he is one of the most overrated names in world football I really do.

Agree7 Disagree1

Me too, Mr. Fresh!
//The Dane

Agree1 Disagree0

For the money being mentioned he'd be a steal. He's young, very quick, 2 footed. With our wingers being poor last season it showed that out of the rest of the attacking players, their was no one with real pace. For 15m Euros he would inject pace and qualty in out midfield. I'd rather Drexler but he would be more than double the price and has 2 seasons less experience.

Although I don't agree with the original poster stranger things have happened. I seem to recall that a certain Mr Beckham was not going anywhere and yet he was sold to Real shortly after that announcement. We will just have to wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree1

I would love him to come to us, but dortmund will not sell!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dortmund are just trying to get as much money as possible. No way they will lose out on £20m-£25m just because they don't want to sell to Munich. Same as V. Persie to us last year. Lewandowski will leave and unfortunately it looks like Munich.

He will not be coming to united. He's set his heart on a move to bayern. End of.
