Ed, do you have any info for us on Shaqiri? Apparently he had offers from Liverpool and ourselves in the summer and now wants a January move that will be around the £18 million mark. Would be a great addition to the squad to have on the right hand side to rotate with Januzaj.

Talk today of a cut price move for Fabian Schar in January as he is out of contract in the summer. Would this be a sensible move? I would say yes, especially for the price and the unlikelihood that we will get a Hummels in January. Also talk of Talisca from SL Benfica, scored 9 in his last 10 and is likened to Rivaldo.

Schar has been talked about positively for a few years now and certainly has CL experience. My only concern (not having seen that much of him) is why he has not been picked up before.I imagine price wise it has always been reasonable.
Will be interesting to see who becomes available once the CL group games come to completion with players no longer in that. Could change who we can get.

I think at 22 and in a long term deal he probably hasn't had that many options to move on. And fair play to him for sticking around and learning his trade.
My personal opinion is that he can't be any worse than what we already have and will be a cheap, low risk deal! Correct me if I am wrong but is he not a right sided centre half too?

Would not be a bad option especially at 10m. Could be the answer to the right hand side. Now if we could get Howedes in to the left side as as well that would give us a senior player, experience and youth at the back with an additional leader.
Allow for Blackett/Mcnair to challenge, Rojo to challenge for either centre or Left back. get rid of Smalling/Evans and we could have a productive January!!

{Ed002's Note - I am really not aware of most rumours. I am aware that AdM has spoken of his move from Real Madrid and the interest of Paris Saint-Germain. I would think perhaps someone has misunderstood something. I would not worry about it in the short term.}
