You chose the manager because the mess would be bigger if you didnt. Saying that I would say once he sells Rooney the manager would likely follow within months to retirement. It will dent his credibility notably and in honest how many times can star players fall out with him and how many does it take for it to actually be the manager at fault. After all there comes a point where the players cannot always be wrong.
