hi all first time poster long time reader great work all the eds do really appreciate all your hard work. just a few questions if u have time to spare how many signings do u think we will make before end of window i'm hoping for 3 laporte pedro muller love any feedback thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I am hoping for 3 (the three you mentioned would be perfect) but I reckon only 2 will be made. Pedro + another}

19 Aug 2015 10:09:17
Laporte just signed a new contract 2 months back so I don't think it will be likely to happen and Bayern won't sell muller since he's one of their best players and there's no ready replacement available in the market. Pedro looks like it's almost done. Blind and Smalling have been excellent so far, I'm just hoping Van Gaal doesn't get overconfident and doesn't sign a center back.

Everyone is lost on who our actual targets are which is why it's only the same 3-4 players linked

BLID reporting utd have bid €85 million for Muller any truth in this guy's?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Has anyone seen Muller play as a striker before? I think he has played there for club and country before but can't remember how good he was there}

18 Aug 2015 22:48:15
We should break the bank for him if it's remotely possible turn the euros into pounds give them something to think about

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2015 22:54:21
My guess is he probably did ok Ed.

He played there as a two with Lewandowski a few times last season when they played a diamond. He did it very well but as it was a two he dropped into deeper/wide positions occasionally. Not sure how he is on his own up there but imo he'd be a fantastic signing and his versatility is only a positive.

Ed004 hope you are well.
More than happy to offer you my opinion here.
Muller is (as a CF) remarkable. He is not too dissimilar to Benzema in all honesty. Dynamic, quick, clever, strong, but more intelligent and precise. He is better footballer than almost anyone I can currently think of that plays with the exception of Messi, Iniesta, and obvious others. He is Bayerns best player, he is Germany's best player and the reason Van Gaal likes him is because of his brain. He may not have played the CF role regularly but LVG knows he can and can play it correctly for what we need. Top 5 best footballers in the world for me, and for all its worth I rate Messi as number 1 just to offer perspective. Will we get him however, I doubt, for reasons mentioned but I would love it if did.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Thanks, good post}

19 Aug 2015 10:16:28
Giggsy, u really rate Muller that high? Top 5 footballers in the world? Surely u must be exaggerating? Messi, Cr7, Suarez, Aguero, Hazard, Sanchez, Robben, Pogba, Zlatan, etc

mbd

19 Aug 2015 18:14:54
Messi Cr7 i agree with mbd but he has that same ounce of creativity as Hazard and Sanchez Robben and Zlatan are getting on and Pogba didn't really set the world cup or champions league final alight not that he is a bad player just not in that bracket

Rumours late this evening that Chelsea are trying to hijack Pedro. Have you heard anything eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I expect the club to complete a deal for Pedro in the coming days}

18 Aug 2015 19:32:49
Any truth in the report LVG stopped utd negotiating with De Gea last summer.Lvg had doubts about the keeper supposedly .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes it is true he did want to hold on and have a look before he committed to him. Let's be clear though, he would still have wanted to leave, the only difference is the fee that will be received.}

18 Aug 2015 22:30:11
I appear to remember getting ripped for this earlier on the banta page. Nice to be proved right

18 Aug 2015 21:54:12
So Ed u think its always going to be like pogba situation, whatever we tried player would leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no, it is just because it is Madrid.}

Balague is claiming that Pedro to us will be finalised this week.

That that deal dead then ha.

18 Aug 2015 16:27:51
Balague is not very reliable when it comes to transfer rumours, although Pedro is definitely on our Radar and should be wrapped up sooner rather than later.

First time poster long time reader,

Just a quick one on some horrendous journalism going on, multiple sites have run with it. Ed woodward will "scout" laporte while he's in barcelona, just another reason why you should be careful before letting yourself become excited about something you read in the paper, cheers gang looking forward to throwing my two pennies worth in on future ramblings, congrats on the site it truly has been a pleasure reading it all these years

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - welcome aboard mate..

18 Aug 2015 13:52:00
I think will be good a scouting a sponsorship deal in Azerbaijan but certainly not a player

PSG are apparently ready to let Zlatan leave. We need a striker and he's still one of the best around. Any news on this eds??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - only that his agent has held talks with United a while back regarding it, before the Di Maria move was done. So it looks unlikely as the deal has yet to go through.}

18 Aug 2015 07:38:14
The conclusion I jumped to earlier in the window piecing together stuf eds had said is that there is a deal that can be done for Ibra but he is not LVG's first choice. If we can't bring another Striker in I could see us making a move for him later in the window. Unsure how I would feel about it.

Agree3 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 08:31:01
I think he would be the perfect fit for us personally.

he's like Marmite so there will be differences of opinions on here but I'd love to see him play for utd. his record of winning trophies is impressive wherever he's been, just hope IF he did come his fitness holds up.

Agree2 Disagree1

Never going to happen. Him and LVG can't stand one another. Would have been a top signing a few years ago, but he turns 34 soon and has ridiculous wage demands and there would be no sell on.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 10:57:38
Rich_1984 - so what your saying is that LVG won't sign a player whos past it, has stupid wage demands and will drain our funds. - Falcao anyone? haha

but in seriousness there are obviously better targets out there. i'm sure one of the eds said that he was a last ditch target if others didn't come off

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Aug 2015 12:22:37
I quite like the prospect he'd scare the opposition and would be a great addition for europe especially but inevitably thered be an argument and a big fall out so don't really know if ut would be worth it

I think he would be a fantastic signing, especially when we have Rooney playing behind him. He said in an interview that he doesn't mind working under Van Gaal again. Van Gaal sees a lot of potential in Wilson. Zlatan has 2-3 seasons in him and will give Wilson time to develop into a regular starter, especially if he's learning directly from players like Rooney and Zlatan.
