Santangelo joins United

FC Augsburg II keeper Dean Santangelo, 19, claims he will sign for Manchester United in the next few days.

My father got a call from Manchester United. I fly to England this weekend and will be there to sign a contract.

Manfred Paula, head of the youth training center of FC Augsburg, the release granted: The opportunity must use Dean or him it is fortunate this opportunity we did not want him obstruct putting any obstacles in the way.."

Any truth in this ED'S or SYD?

Believable3 Unbelievable8

I believe it's highly likely to be true and I imagine Amos will be sold in the next couple of windows.

I don't have a complete opinion about Miguel Veloso, but do you think he could be a good signing in the summer window?

Believable8 Unbelievable26

Hes pure class!

Agree0 Disagree0

We were linked with him about 4 years ago but from what I've seen of him in the last couple of years he is not good enough for utd.

I've always thought united should sign him strong tall defensive midfielder can play centre back aswell!

Overweight and overrated

Definately worth signing in the summer......if it was 2008. He was a superb prospect and although still a decent player really is nothing like I expected him to be

Victor Valdes has said he won't sign a new deal at Barca, hsi current one runs out in 2014 - i'd expect Barca to try and flog him to get a few quid instead of him walking on a free. Unfortunately it does seem to tie in with a lot of the DDG rumours circulating.

IrishRed

Believable5 Unbelievable22

Valdes is one of the most overated players in world football

de gea is so much better than him

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree...which is why Barca may want DDG!

Agreed!

Hi Sydney and Ed's is there any further development on Juan Manuel Iturbe? Seems to have dropped off the list of targets. Looked a cracking prospect {Ed002's Note - Iturbe won't be moving to Manchester United in January. The summer may see him consider the options he has available.}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

He's gotta be a perf replacement for Giggsy, anyone that's seen him he's a monster on the ball. Wonder if he's actually getting any playing time at Porto now.

Iturbe will one day be the best player in the world.. The best talent I've seen after messi and ronaldo.. break the bank sir Alex

Ed has Klopp ever been under consideration to take over from SAF? After using the search function (cyber thumbs up to me), I can't see you link us to him at all.

Dan {Ed002's Note - I would imagine that various options are now being considered given that Guardiola was the preferred option for many at Manchester United. Personally my opinion remains that it will be someone else in any case. Klopp I do not really see being an option.}

Believable8 Unbelievable4

My theory is that after Guardiola said himself that Fergie has persuaded him that he should manage in the Prem one day. He will prove himself at Bayern first knowing that Fergie will not be moving on for a few years yet. meaning he will take over if he is successful in Germany. Winning stuff at Barca with the team they have might not be that hard. So he still has to prove himself outside of Spain before he take over at MUFC!

Agree3 Disagree0

I think mourinho is most likely

Agree2 Disagree2

Ed002; who in your opinion do you think it could be out of curiosity? Blanc? Moyes?

rpc {Ed002's Note - The original choice was for Laurent Blanc and there remains support for Blanc at the club.}

Agree0 Disagree1

I would be gutted if Blanc stepped in to Fergie's boot. Pep, and Jose are the only 2 I see capable, with Pep leading it. His man management and dealing with the press make him the better option IMO.

If there is any Ed's around I would just lie to ask if you think that there is a stronger possibility that we shall be looking in the market now Fletcher has been ruled out for the season???

Thanks
George {Ed001's Note - this surgery was, I am told by someone who suffered through the same illness as Fletcher, always on the cards. The club must have known this and planned accordingly well in advance, I doubt it would affect the plans for this window at all.}

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Ed001 - Thanks for replying, keep up the good work it is much appreciated (by most anyway)..

Is it true Leicester striker Jeffrey schlupp is on trial with us?

Caolán.

Believable20 Unbelievable2

I live in Leicester and most of my friends are City supporters and they all rave about him and say he is class and could make it at the highest level, He was born in Germany but chose Ghana, He is a striker but can also play left back..... They also keep mentioning a player called Anthony Knockaert apparently he is another one to look out for.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was born in Germany, it has to be lies.

Hoppy

Agree0 Disagree0

It is indeed true, he will have a one-month trial, and if it is successful, we will sign him on a permanent deal.

T-O-I

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmmm striker or defender?

The next Dion Dublin.
Paul Warhurst
Chris Sutton
Or will he be here to replace our old no.9 who admitted he was a class act at the back Dimitar Bebatov.

I just don't get this one.
We have strikers RvP, Rooney, Chicharito, Welbeck, Macheda, Bebe, W.Keane, Henriquez, Cofie, Lawrence & Wilson on the books.

(maybe because only Cofie, Lawrence & Wilson are our strikers for the elite u21's with W.Keane injured he could provide competition with the strikers.)

In the left back position we have Evra, Fabio, Buttner, McGinty & Blackett.

(maybe McGinty & Blackett will go on loan & he'll play LB)

Or have United seen potential for him to provide competition as LW?

Surely we would try Buttner or Fabio there if Young, Giggs, Kagawa or Welbeck
couldn't play

A Delaet, Veseli signing.

i'm not sure why, we have loads of young strikers as it is. Someone at the club is striker fixated.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was born in Germany and played international youth level and scored a hat trick on his debut

Agree0 Disagree0

He can play striker, left wing or left back and is very short and stocky with pace to burn...... I have seen him a few times and thought he could do well in the Premiership but may be at a Wigan or Villa.

Agree0 Disagree0

All they've cone is taken him on trial to have a look at him, what's wrong with that ? If he is any good save some money now rather than wait 5/6 years for him to be a name then try and sign him

Agree1 Disagree0

I live in Leicester and all there players are very very average believe me

Agree1 Disagree1

I dunno, that young lad at the back looks really promising - we should keep an eye on him, just the type of young player we ought to be interested in, Michael Keane I think his name is.......
