Dont know how true this is but had a customer in my work yesterday who was adamant he was talking to someone who works for a sponsor of man utd.they were supposedly telling him that the messi camp have asked us to put an offer on the table in the summer and messi would be very interested in the move.like i say not trying to be in the know or out just what this person said in my work and all i know he is a very wealthy businessman who wouldn't have any reason to make things up

Lovely though, never going to happen. Even with our financial resources we wouldn't commit £200 million to one player in a transfer fee alone. Messi will remain at Barcelona much longer than L. Enrique will.

If this was true I would imagine it being used as leverage in his contract/demands with Barca. Ifound he did move then the old Barca connections at City would be more obvious. .maybe he could sign for AdeLaide/new York and turn out for city anyway!!

£200m???? wages, transfer fee, taxes etc. etc, it would be over £500m for us to buy Messi

No doubt Ed002 will have my head for even mentioning this on the United page but I will endure the wrath anyway.

Thomas Muller gave an interesting interview to the DPA and has also been reported by ESPN in the past few days. In the interview he claims that sometimes training days at the Allianz Arena are tougher than Bundasliga games for this Bayern team. Albeit this Bayern team is a colossal force but when a player is making these types of comments it does make for interesting reading into his mindset.

Thomas Muller doesn't seem like the type of player to me who is happy to go on without a challenge week in week out. You look at his work rate, aggression and passion in tough games which obviously highlights the type of character he is. Yes he may love Bayern, he may love Bavaria and he may love Germany but he (like most top players) will want a challenge at the height of his career.

If he decides to move on from Bavaria for these reasons (not that I am saying he will) where to shall he go? With Barcelona's ban, PSG trying to balance their books and Juventus having limited resources in a poor Italian league his options would be limited. Yes we all know R. Madrid will most certainly sign another 'Galactico' this coming summer and Muller may well be that star.

His only other possibility would be the EPL and if this were the case then surely if United gain CL qualification we would be an attractive proposition. Is it a pipe dream? Maybe. Is it inconceivable that one of the best clubs in the world could sign one of the best players? Not at all.

Thoughts?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained what my expectation is for Muller this summer on a number of occasions. Try the search engine.

You need to remember that most footballers are, like most fans, dumb as a box of rocks. Looking in their "mindset" for something deep and meaningful is a complete waste of time.}

Makes me laugh how the other day you were saying you don't know why so many bloggers, tabloids, posters etc are getting carried away talking about us signing big star studded names like Pogba, Vidal, Koke and Busquets then now you're saying "Is it inconceivable that one of the best clubs in the world could sign one of the best players?

Not at all." Then talking about signing Muller which I think Ed002 has made pretty clear that he's confident he'll be at RM by the end of next summer.

Am I getting carried away Oz? In my post I cleary stage that Madrid would be front runners. Your not reading the post correctly, your reading into what you want to see.

Ed002, I asked you in the summer about Bernard of Shakhtar and you said a few English clubs had maintained an interest/had him watched. Has there been any change to his situation? I doubt he's of any interest to United and he may struggle to adapt to the Premier League but I think he's a great player to watch and has undoubted talent. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Porto are still looking to a deal for Bernard.}
