Ed would Modric staying or leaving have anything to do with whether Alonso stays or goes (as well as the new manager)? {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Alonso and he will, as I have explained be offered as part of a deal for another player.}

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I find it surprising Real would be willing to let both of them go at once. Ed2 do you know of any target for Real to play alongside Khedira next season in CM?

Thanks, HBadger {Ed002's Note - They will be looking to do some rebuilding in midfield as Kaka will also leave, Essien is only on loan they are also going to get a significant bid for Oezil that they will need to fight off. If they can get the replacements they want there is a chance Di Maria will also be moving on.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is after oezil ed? Is it Bayern and Pep?

Brendan81 {Ed002's Note - He is one of Bayern's targets, yes.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Di Maria would be a bad option for us on the left - would probably be cheaper than Rodriguez - he'd be excellent IF he could cut out his cheating antics which I'm sure Fergie would make sure he stops.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the info. Ed. I find it astonishing that Real would look to break up such a talented team and squad - but then that's Real for you!

Looks like Real, City and Bayern will be clubs to watch this summer in terms of re-buidling.

I'd be happy with Di Maria in place of Nani this summer. I'm a huge fan of Oezil so will be keeping an eye out for where he ends up too.

HBadger {Ed002's Note - They are not looking to break it up and certainly they are not looking to sell Oezil. But Kaka is olderand a move has been on the cards for some time. Essien is on loan and the club has alternates to Di Maria in mind.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Ozil wanting out then Ed if Real are finding it hard to keep him? Would love us to bid for him but we are stacked in that position with Rooney and Kagawa. {Ed002's Note - Please read the answers that are already there.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough Ed2 it's all opinions at the end of the day. I would still argue that looking to replace a number of important 1st team players in one go i. e. Alonso, Di Maria, Benzema/Higuain is a risk and is a bit of an overhaul. When they have done so in the past it hasn't always led to success. Then there's valuable squad players like Modric and Kaka on top. Personally I'd go so far as to say that Alonso, Di Maria, Benzema have played a major part in their recent successes and IMO it's a bit of a risk to change them all at once. Will be interested to see how it pans out though.

HBadger {Ed002's Note - Alonso is in his 30s and he does not wish to sign a new deal. They have not said anything about Benzema leaving but Higuain has been offered around. They have a preferred option to Di Maria and some very clear targets they are looking to bring in.}

We have scouts watching everton games on last 4 occassions. It was not the case before or in the earlier season. So I guess its not for baines. So I guess we are looking at fallaini (spell). Last month I had people talking about possiblr bid of 16m for him but I never thought it would happen. But now it looks real to some extent. What u guys think of this? Or can it be any othe player?

How are you so sure its not Baines? I'd rather sign him than Fellaini. Not really sure who else from Everton would be scouted.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd like to think that its not Fellaini, he's not someone I like. I would think that it is Baines, not sure why you don't think that it would be him? It could on the off chance be that we are looking at their opposition, but I doubt that haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be for Ross Barlkey?

Agree2 Disagree1

Common guys. I have written it clearly that why I m guessing that its not baines.

Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree1

Ross Barkley is out on loan isn't he? He wouldn't be playing anyway.

Fellaini for me is nothing but a lump in midfield, lacks decent control. Offers little else than a physical presence.

Baines we know is of interest to the manager, so it would be more than likely Baines.

Wildcard, Mirallas, easily good enough for a top four side. A good player who has it all.

Sydney! {Ed004's Note - I would be hoping it is Baines but wasn't there a discussion on Baines on I think Football Focus saying he was poor defensively. I haven't seen enough of him defensively to judge but going forward he has been excellent this season and appears to work hard to get back}

Agree0 Disagree0

I too rate Mirallas, would be dissapointed if we only got Mirallas and Zaha though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only seen Mirallas once or twice and was very impressed TBF but are there any worries over his fitness? He has had at least one injury and I saw someone posted he doesn't play 90mins that often? Great purchase by Moyes either way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good wildcard Syd.

Barkley is back off loan isn't he? Pretty sure he came on against Wigan in the cup game last week.

Mort

Agree0 Disagree0

. why do we need 2 send scouts 2 watch these players. I'm blind in 1 ear & deaf in 1 eye & I know what these players can do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seamus Coleman? Would be a good squad addition and can play a few different positions. Matlock red

Agree0 Disagree0

HBadger, Mirallas was assaulted by Suarez if you remember? Suarez purposely stamped on Mirallas' ankle to take him out of the game where he was dominating Liverpool. He is still recovering from that really. I would be delighted if we signed Mirallas.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough Syd - yes I do remember that now you said but I thought he may have had a complication or 2 during his recovery. I may well be mistaken. I'll have to keep a closer eye out for him from now on as I'd never considered him as possibly United quality until now TBH.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Mirallas is a bit lightweight tbh Fallaini is best with the ball lumped up to him, not sure we'd pay what they want for Baines

Agree0 Disagree0

You have not said anything that rules out Baines. Buttner is not the answer good backup but nothing special. Just maybe it is Baines could also be Fellaini.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mirallas is a waste of a squad player, he isn't going to even improve on what we have already, nowhere near Utd class. Our competitors will be buying world beaters and people are seriously talking about Mirallis? Would rather re-sign Phil Neville to replace Scholes, haha.

We will be in for Fellaini, we are crying out for some arial ability in the middle of the park he can defend and attack which will be crucial for when we are playing agains teams we are battering and don't need a def midfielder (he will help break them down), it will also be handy when we need a bit more steel, ideal partner with Carrick in the middle, pushing on so we can dominate teams rather than relying on the strikers - we need more goals from centre mid.

Sween

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkley is back off loan yes. Would like to see him get more game time as he is so raved about and the very little see of him shown little touches of class, nothing to be able to make a definative judgement off though and would we send scouts to watch a player that basically has barely played? Seamus Coleman I think is a really exciting youngster. but so is Rafael so wouldn't understand that one either?
Felliani I can't see fitting into our side at all, good player but not a Utd player. That only leaves Baines who everybody said was coming to us and he didn't over the summer, so if we did actually have Scouts at the game it bamboozles me to be honest
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe just maybe, Seamus Coleman

Agree0 Disagree0

I think some of you are exaggerating Fellaini'slimitations somewhat, but I agree he's not what we need, too slow and lacks quality on the ball.

As to needing aerial strength in midfield, why? It doesn't hurt, but midfielders shouldn't need it that much, otherwise there is a serious tactical problem if they do.

We need a cm who can win the ball or keep the ball, preferably both, Fellaini offers little retention-wise and is slow for either pressing or man-marking a danger man.

Frank Lampard for FREE? Worth going for experienced and guaranteed 10 goals.

Believable22 Unbelievable21

He wouldn't fit in with the way we play. He needs a whole team to play around him to get those goals, his all round game is poor now would rather sign someone like Benat or Modric.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm convinced SAF wants him, it would be exactly his kind of move. Replace Scholes and continue to help develop the youngsters. I'd have him on a free

Agree1 Disagree0

Next best England midfielder after Scholes and we get him for nothing? No brainer. This way Mr. Lampard!

Agree0 Disagree1

That would kill me the bloke is so over rated

Agree0 Disagree0

No way should we sign Lampard - he does next to nothing most games and for a key position he would be too much of a passenger. So what if he scores 10 goals, they will likely be Pens or against poor teams, shooting when he should pass - what he brings in goals we lose in creativity and basically stifle better options we have already (Powell/Cleverly/Anderson/Kagawa), Lampard is very much like Giggs is now, does ok but only does ok because the rest of the team carry them. We need a quality midfielder that will make a difference not another stop gap, and he would want a fortune in wages to become a hated figure to most shallow Chelsea fans, rather than the legend that he is at the Bridge! Another Michael Owen signing if he comes, pointless aside from a few cameos.

Sween

Agree0 Disagree1

Chelsea don't want to retain him bcoz of his high wages. can Manchester United afford him? with all the ff rules coming in {Ed002's Note - You have been misinformed about Chelsea.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea are changing there philosophy to possession based football. Lampard is terrible on the ball. He has only scored so many goals due to the quality around him and the fact they all play for him to score. Intelligent movement and a good finisher but massively overrated.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Lampard is hardly terrible on the ball! Not the best maybe, but better on the ball than most English cm's (not that is all that difficult, sadly).

He'd make a decent place holder if we have a target who's not available this summer, but may be next summer. However I think that is possibly the most he can offer.

Having said that, he might link well with Kagawa, if Lampard was behind him in the centre, although that would mean loosing some of our defensive/ball winning capabilities in midfield as these are not Lampards strongpoints.

Ed002; do you know of any interest in Moutinho from us or anyone else? Doubt Spurs still are with their current midfield.

Also, would you be able to give us a brief list of people who we are interested in in the summer? You've done it before but that was a good while ago and i'm sure plenty has changed since then. Would just like an idea of who we really are targeting for the midfield / wings / forward areas.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Spurs lost Modric but stalled over a summer move for Moutinho. Whilst I understand that interest from Spurs remains and efforts are being made to strike a deal, they will need to not only stump up whatever fee Porto think is right but also do a hard-sell on the player, as Moutinho has hinted a move to PSG would suit him best - and PSG are interested.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed.

Any chance of answering the second paragraph, even a brief list would be great! :-)

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to get in to providing lists at this time of the year. I have explained already where I know of interest.}

Does anyone know the extent of Davide Petrucci's injury at the minute.?

thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I don't. But I have to say, I don't think he is going to break through.

Agree0 Disagree0

He won't break through, i'm sure he'll break something big toe, rib maybe. something that keeps him from playing games.

One of those unlucky stories i'm afraid.

Apparently Martin Ferguson was at the recent Malaga v Porto Cl match and Malaga v Barcelona Copa del rey clash. It reports keeping a check on Isco although Rodriguez is playing in the Porto match also.

Out of curiosity Ed, is there still any interest whatsoever in Gaitan anymore? Or has our interest ended? A left footed player would be good - Lamela, Rodriguez and Gaitan are the best three that spring to mind. Someone like Mata would be superb, anyone of those three could be that player.

Fresh! {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benficapreviously but no bid was made as the asking price was seen to be far too high. I understand that Benfica had an approach from Anzhi for Gaitan but the player has made it clear he has not any interest in talking to them - but expect them to return with a package that may just entice him to Russia. Else, I understand that the interest still remains from Manchester United and PSG.}
