Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has registered his interest with Fiorentina for defender Matija Nastasic.

Fiorentina coach Delio Rossi says the young Serb can develop into a better defender than United captain Nemanja Vidic.

Ferguson is well aware of Nastasic's rising star and Calciomercato.com says he made a bid for the youngster in January.

Fiorentina threw out the offer, but know Ferguson won't shelve his interest in centre-half.

people say don't get drogba in the summer because he is too old but then you get the posts saying we should sign raul or del piero, who IMO aren't as good as drogba..

Believable25 Unbelievable6

Interesting thought, there is no denying his ability, fernando llorente has been consistantly playing well over the last few years he, like drogba is good in the air, good technique and on the plus side is alot younger and fresher.... :)

Agree0 Disagree0

It's just highly unlikely he'll move to another top PL team, not to do with his age! Still got bags of talent considering his age, as we witnessed against Barca's defence last night..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

But lorente would cost a hell lot of money too unlike Drog whose on a free if he doesnt extend. But after last night's performance, I can expect Chelsea to offer him a 2 yr deal which he's wanting.

Devil for Life

Agree0 Disagree0

Drogba would cost a fortune in wages. Ł10m a season minimum. I am not sure I would want his diving at OT, Young is enough.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Raul and Del Piero would be cheaper, far better role models, and far more content to sit on the bench.

APC

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree with you more Sydney. For such a big strong physical player he is pathetic with his childish antics, a despicable individual.

j Bones

Agree0 Disagree0

Raul content to sit on the bench? how and why do you think that when he plays most games for Schalke? Del Piero is a living legend at Juve like Ryan Giggs is for us just wouldn't happen.

Also syd, Drogba has never really had a reputation for diving i think he was just giving Barca a taste of their own medicine. I mean Nani dives a fair amount alike Ashley Young but we still appreciate their talent and support them (Ashley better not carry on with how dramatic and obvious he makes it though).

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Must admit I would not want any of them. Not due to quality (well del piero hasnt the legs anymore) but the cost in wages. Im pretty sure they will expect to be on similar terms than they are now and could get loads in russia or china. Bookedredmole

Agree0 Disagree0

Well hardly content, but they're not going to kick up much a fuss if rotated. Playing for United is slightly different to playing for Schalke, do you not think he would consider adding United to his already great career if the offer was there? Del Piero is a bad example for that exact reason that I think he will finish his career at Juve.

Also, ''Drogba has never really had a reputation for diving'' ???

APC

Agree0 Disagree0

The BIGGEST factor out of all these players is the Drogba is proven in the Prem league.
Would Raul be happy sitting on the bench when he is still a regular player at Shalka? And when was the last successful Italian based striker to grace the prem?

'Oz'

Drogba has admitted to diving on camera, he is one of the worse in the game for rolling around on the floor, which is hard to watch when he is about 7ft2 and 50 stone in muscle. Kind of a pointless discussion anyway as he will either sign a deal or move to China.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you claim to know so much about drogba, when you say he hasnt got a reputation for diving? its like saying messi hasnt realy got a reputation as a goalscorer!
duggo

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take Raul over any of the other OAP's we're linked with.
Still showing pure class at Schalke.

Once again we get linked with de marcos. We have watched him a couple of times recently and we will watch again in the europa league tie coming up but do any of you think he is our solution to the cm problem...
He is nimble small and versatile being able to play fullback outwide or in the middle.. he reminds of the current spanish type of player in david silva or juan mata..

He has a 32 million euros release clause = 26 million pounds which would have to be met to sign him is he worth the gamble ??

Thoughts?

Believable7 Unbelievable10

I don't think he all that great, yes he is a good player, but for Ł15 million tops. He is not in the same class as Martinez at Bilbao.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

De marcos is a top player bags of potential 20/25 i would be quite happy.
he is not as good as martinez but martinez will go for 35+

Anyone here the good news that Pettruci has signed a 3 year deal?

nozzla

Believable20 Unbelievable2

I saw this in the Mirror....

how many of our youth team are out of contract this summer... it is very more management....... from who ever looks after the contract side of the club....

If he was still here, that would be Morrison, Pogba, Fryers & Petrucci to name just a thew....

Really hope they all sign on for many many years... (morrison excluded as he is no longer here)

Oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Petrucci and admire the way he has fought back from his injury nightmare, but with the best will in the world i can never see him becoming a premier league player due mainly to his lack of pace. Fryers is another who will never make it at the highest level,as at times his defending is woeful . Unlike Petruci ,Fryers posesses pace in abundance but has so many other weaknesses in his game to ever make a top player and he will be allowed to leave thia summer.
Raffa

Agree0 Disagree0

Raffa petrucci is a classy midfielder who can find a pass and move the ball quickly so he doesnt need pace, fryers is a fantastic prospect who can learn to b a better defender he cant learn how to run faster.
Ste73

Agree0 Disagree0

Raffa you know nothing at all
Petrucci is class and has more pace than Scholesy and that says it all really
Scholesy thinks seconds before most humans and Petrucci has that same potential
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul Scholes is one of the all time greats, how can you compare Petrucci to Scholes?for a start it's unfair to the lad,who is a decent player but a player who will never make Uniteds first team on a regular basis but who will eventually earn a good living in the game.
As for Fryers i reiterate, he is moving in the summer because to put it bluntly he is not of the standard that Manchester United are looking for and a younger more talented player in Tyler Blackett has now overtaken him in the pecking order.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unnamed

I actually believe from what I have seen of Petrucci that he has as much chance of making it as Pogba, if not more. He has been the star of the reserves this season. If he can continue his form and skill and replicate it in the first team then we have a potential star. There is a similarity in his style of play to Scholes and that is a great compliment.

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

If petrucci can stay injury free he has a very good chance of making it at utd, very good on the ball ,fantastic passer and scores a few as well.
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

Petrucci has come on leaps and bounds, but he is behind Pogba in both progression and ability. Petrucci needs to work on his strength, he is easily bullied off the ball and when he does get bullied off the ball he goes missing in periods of the game. I think we will definitely see him in the League Cup next season, but Pogba will be a regular in the first team if he signs on the dotted line. Can you imagine where Petrucci would be now in terms of progression without his 18 months lay-off?

Just a thought, but, if Pogba decides to join Juventus, then shouldn't wen just promote Petrucci from the reserves to take his place? He is a year or two older, and from what I have seen a real talent. It would be a real shame if we lost Pogba, but if the boys wants to go, then what can the club do? I don't think we should be held to ransome by him or any other of these young players who have so far proved nothing. I have read the interview with Petrucci on manutd.com and he seems sensible enough and wants to play for us and do well. So, if Pogba does not want to play for us, then so be it!

Red Pedro

Believable25 Unbelievable1

Even if pogba stays i would expect pettruci to be involved in some capacity with the 1st team squad next season
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

Aren't they completely different players? If so then i don't understand the point in doing that..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Oswald, maybe they are different, but they are both midfielders, and in the interview Petrucci said he doesn't know how up the pitch he will play. He also said that they have been concentrating on his tackling, so maybe he is being looked at for a cm role. But who knows. All I am saying is that if Pogba goes, then we should just look at another good youngster to promote in his place, that's all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point, i think Red pedro is trying to say that with replace Pogba with another youngster i.e Petrucci rather than buy a replacement. Not that they play the same position but we still give the youth players a chance

Mad Hatter

Agree0 Disagree0

Well fair enough but it depends on what we need within the team. For example Pogba is a box to box midfielder, good at defending, passing and his vision and idea of attacking football is great too! Which is what we need in our team right now an all round midfielder with the legs to run about OT all day long!

Not saying Petrucci isn't a good player with a bright future but i always thought he was more of a winger with quick feet, and eye for goal. Which means it'd be hard for him to get senior games next season with Young, Nani, Valencia and possibly another winger/CAM hybrid (Gaitan, Hazard, Munian whoever it may be).

Even if Petrucci along with United staff are looking towards adapting his game to suit a CM role, think it'd take longer than a year to be good enough to influence our side. Question is can we afford to wait? If Pogba leaves then i think Javi Martinez would seriously be considered as i believe it's obvious he's a monster of a player! Pogba has a similar attributes to Martinez and would obviously been much cheaper to keep hold of him and let him develop..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald petrucci is a classy midfielder with a killrr pass, not a winger fella.
Ste73

Agree0 Disagree0

Oswald, I agree with you that we need a box to box midfielder and it would be a shame to lose Pogba, but let's hope we can get that type of player and still look to promote Petrucci.

hey ..BULLE [Sry 4 copy and paste ] = Yash

Lille OSC winger Eden Hazard has proclaimed his joy at being watched by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson in his club’s game against Olympique Lyon at the weekend – though the team lost the match 2-1.

Hazard didn’t shine in that match, and Ferguson would have been more impressed by the Belgium international had he seen Lille’s previous match.

In that game against Auxerre, Hazard scored both goals to salvage a 2-2 draw for the Ligue 1 title holders, and tormented the opposition defenders throughout.

Still, the 21 year-old Hazard has displayed enough potential over the last few years to indicate he has the ability to play in one of the biggest three leagues in world football, and it was little surprise Ferguson is keeping an eye on his progress.

“Of course [Manchester United interest me],” Hazard is quoted as telling La Voix du Nord. “This is a club that excites everyone, but for now my focus is on Lille.

“But yes, it is a pleasure to be watched by one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best.”

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has also signalled his interest – as well as reveal Manchester City are in the running for Hazard’s signature.

“Our owner is ready to pay for an exceptional talent like Eden Hazard,” Redknapp said. “But I know Manchester United are also following him very closely. Manchester City too, so it will be difficult to sign him.”

With Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also known to have watched Hazard plenty of times, there will likely be a bidding war for the young Belgian this summer.

Whoever wins that could land a very exciting player indeed.

Alex Ferguson sends top spy to scout Old Trafford target.

EXCLUSIVE: United step up De Marcos chase

Manchester United are stepping up their bid to sign Athletic Bilbao’s £26million-rated midfield dynamo Oscar de Marcos.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is sending his top spy to watch the powerful prospect in the first leg of Bilbao’s Europa League semi-final against Sporting Lisbon in Portugal on Thursday.

De Marcos has shot to the top of United’s wish list – as the Mirror revealed earlier this month – and Fergie wants to get a complete dossier on the 22-year-old before he starts trying to wrestle the star away from the Spanish club.

United view De Marcos as ideal for their midfield, which has only fired this season since the return of Paul Scholes.

The Bilbao star was outstanding against them as Marcelo Bielsa’s side triumphed in the Europa League’s last 16.

De Marcos has a fixed fee written into his contract and United will have to go to that figure to get him, so Ferguson wants to be absolutely sure before asking the Glazer family to spend.

However as United are unlikely to need to be recruiting many players this summer, they will put aside a chunk of money to improve the midfield – and De Marcos is their current first choice there.

Oscar de Marcos is just one of many Athletic Bilbao talents that Marcelo Bielsa will struggle to keep hold of this summer and a player who’s stock has risen this term thanks to a consistent series of displays, most notably in Europa League action.

The 22 year old adaptable Spaniard was something of a bit part player at San Mames before this term and he may well sneak into Vicente del Bosque’s Euro 2012 squad though he is still to win a full senior cap, such is the strength in depth in the Spanish national team.

De Marcos is most effective in the centre of midfield where his rangy runs and excellent distributor must have interested Sir Alex Ferguson though the former Alaves man can also play up front or out wide.

There are a number of top talents at the La Liga club who are drawing interest from Europe’s elite, among them youngster Iker Muniain, box to box midfielder Javi Martinez and forward Fernando Llorente.

Ferguson is keen on beefing up his midfield and given that Darren Fletcher is out for an indeterminate period of time with illness De Marcos could be a useful addition. Though Michael Carrick has had an excellent season, Anderson has struggled and youngster Tom Cleverley has also had some niggling injuries.

However the £26m price-tag may scare off a Man United bid.

Ed 002 how does it become common knowledge that United or any team are scouting a particular player when a scout is sent to watch a match.

United send scout to watch a Bilbao player but how do we know its De Marcos why could it not be Munain or Martinez or whoever ??
Is it just the media putting 2+2 together or is it actually known for definite that player is the one been watched ?

Apologies if its a stupid question.

Devil Dust. {Ed002's Note - Information can com from clubs, scouts, players and particularly agents. Different media have different criteria for deciding whether to share something or not. Some will recycle old stories, a few will simply make stuff up. Agents can be helpful but are looking to fulfil different objectives - so they can also be a hinderance.}
