Just had a call from a friend tonight (Wednesday) who has been on the town in London with senior business analysists from KPMG.

Apparantly, it is well known in financial circles in London that the behaviour of Man Utd is consistant with the characteristics of a business in preparation to sell.

For example a lack of investment in the squad was described to me as "would you buy a new kitchen if you were going to sell your house?" as "It is unlikely you would get your investment back" The reduction of the PIK's debt was also sighted, and United's aggresive focus on attracting more sponsors, is proving to any interested party that the United brand is still very much sort after, even in difficult economic times. There were other example mentioned which I didn't grasp.

The Glazers believe that this is the right time to sell to maximise their investment.

It was suggested that there has been serious and proven financial credible interest from the U.S., China, and the middle east.

The middle east offer has won the rights to be awarded the status of prefered bidder, and as a gesture of good will, part of the deal was for them to provide the Glazers with an interest free loan of 220k which the Glazers used to pay the PIK's debt. This payment will either form part of the deal, or will be paid back at some stage after due diligence if a sale cannot be finalised. {ed's note - when you are about to sell your house you would normally at least slap a coat of paint on the walls to make it look nice.......}

DOHA — The Qatari royal family is not looking to invest in a European football club despite rumours linking them with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, a source close to the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) told AFP on Sunday.
A report in British tabloid The News of the World claimed on Sunday that the QIA - which invests money on behalf of Qatar's royal family - was preparing a 1.3 billion pounds (1.54 billion euros, 2 billion dollars) bid for 18-time English champions United.
Reports in the French media in recent months have also linked QIA with PSG, claiming the organisation could be poised to take either a controlling interest or a 30 percent stake in the under-achieving club based in Paris's chic 16th arrondissement.
However, the source close to QIA played down the rumours and told AFP that football clubs such as United and PSG did not present the opportunities for reliable returns on investment that the sovereign wealth fund usually seeks in potential business partners.

Please stop with the takeover nonsense. All of the evidence points to the status quo at O.T. for some time to come. (That is my opinion rather than my desire.)
Busquets, no thanks. Imo we should be interested in Luis Suarez. He has pace, scores goals and proved himself at the World Cup.

From Mick the Moston Red:

I will concede if what I have just been told by a close friend of mine comes off, I will end up with an unbelievable amount of egg on my face. I don't know if he is winding me up but he hasn't to my knowledge in the past.

Here go's- Qatari's supposedly taking over before the end of January done deal! !

Mick the Moston Red

qatari representatives have rubbished claims they will be buying manchester united or any european football team, so yeahh no not gunna happen plus the glazers have said they won't be selling for a couple of years yet.

Just been listening to Red Wednesday on BBC Manchester. They seem to say that a new deal may be on the cards for Ravel Morrison.

Does anyone know anything on this?

Hi,

been reading and musing, at some of the dross posted on here, and will admit to buying into some of the posted rumors, as come on, who doesn't want the best players, at there club, when others are seemingily buying up all the talent, In hope of luring trophies.

Anyhow just heard from pals on wearside that following, Bent handing in a transfer request, and moving to pastures new, I have just been told that Craig Gordon has handed in a transfer request. Do you know anything about this ed? And what would you rate the chances of him becoming UTD's new no1?

As I say not a rumor as sure by the time this gets posted that it will be old news. and on the scale of 1-10 what do you rate the chances of the Qatar based takeover?

UTID

{Editor's Note: I am not sure if MUFC will be interested in Gordon - but a decision needs to be taken about a new keeper at some point. I always expected Adler. If there is a Qatari takeover I don't expect it to be anytime soon.}

Isn't he currently travelling with the U18s to play West Ham? Surely he wouldn't be in the squad if this was the case? Or did they bust him on the coach on the way down?

Extract from the Irish Examiner:

"All I can tell you is that we might be hearing more on this, concretely, in about two weeks’ time."

Article Continues to say SAF won't be happy this transfer window. . Blah blah blah, article finishes with:

" Hang tight, oh Tiny Tim of OT — there may yet be a ‘happy finish’ and I don’t just mean Ashley Young. ."

Not exactly what I would call concrete or reliable

Hi Guys,

Have never posted here before but, I do enjoy reading the knowledgeable and not so knowledgeable stuff that appears on the site.

I have just read a reputable Irish newspaper this morning in which a Man Utd writer says the News of the World story about the Qatari takeover could have more legs to it than we first thought.

He says that more will come to light in the next two weeks.

Just what I read.

Which Irish paper is this in?"

Manchester United will try to sign Alexis Sanchez before the transfer window shuts for about 22m i know this from a source can't name them all be revealed soon. United wanted to wait for summer but Chelsea have forced United hand we their approach for the player. Michael Owen will go to Sunderland giving No7 shirt for Sanchez. United had deal in place he is going be new Ronaldo believe me. That was why United have been marketing the Chile ready for summer but everything has been moved forward due to chelsea/ Inter Milan and Barcelona.

I don't think Barcelona are interested in him, but Inter and Chelsea are. I think he is a ok player and he has plenty of potential but i don't think he is half as good as what people think, he is very small, very lightweight and i doubt he could cope with the Premiership. hes know better than Kakuka so i wouldn't bother with him. I think he will be a waste of time like Quaresma was. I want us to sign Bale, problem is he will cost a fortune, a fortune we no longer have.

{Editor's Note: Ganso will be moving to Europe at some point but I doubt it will be to England; Hulk is probably there for the taking; I doubt that Pato will move to Old Trafford.}
