Drinkwater fee is £750k that can rise to £1m. That is a great sale. No wonder United recalled him straight back from his loan. Could De Laet be next?

Sydney!

Believable6 Unbelievable5

De Laet is back because of a back problem or something isn't he?

Tm

Agree0 Disagree0

De Laet is suffering with an injury, but like Drinkwater he is for sale. He can play anywhere along the back four and he is homegrown, so could easily fetch £1m, perhaps a little more in add ons.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure we should sell de laet what with so many injuries to the defence when he's fit again as sydney said he can play all along the back four give him a chance you never no

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right he can play anywhere across the back," badly".

Agree0 Disagree0

Im happy with that deal, would have been happy with say £500k tbh! I never rated Drinkwater. Watched him at Cardiff last yr as well as seeig him previously once or twice

Between this sale and that of Gibbo (good money with only 6 months left on his contract) things are starting to look up

So are we freeing up space for our promising youth or a new signing?

The clearout will cont for this transfer and there will be no new signings this window but pogba, ravel and few more younger players getting there chance.currently park, berba, kusak, diouf and nani are on the market if the price is right.reason for all this is very simple, the club will be either sold or floated come may and the club is trying to get wage bill down.this is also why pogba ravel Danny can't get the new contracts but SAF has assured them they will get there deals once club is sorted.come summer expect to see a bigger clear out rio, carrick,Owen, kiko, evra all going if deals can be done.i don't know whose coming in but deals are done for new signings.my info is good

Believable6 Unbelievable22

Ive never heard such a crass statement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok Mr.no name. We are going to sell the majority of our team. We are not going to go into the market and buy at least 6 players. Sorry to rain on your parade but that's not happening.

Strider98

Agree0 Disagree0

You say your info is good.? nani has been a vital key to our midfield and according to me he is as important as rooney is to this squad. he will not be sold. not for the sake of saving wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you read it proper there is players coming in but not till the summer window, also if you know anything about selling anything you try make what your selling look attractive ie less wages

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry almighty leader, who knows that we are going to be sold or floated before anybody else does. I'm amazed at your knowledge of who SAF will and won't sell, Ohh wait are you SAF, NO so stop making up pure bull$h1t and give us proper gossip or none at all !!

Strider98

Agree0 Disagree0

"i don't know whose coming in but deals are done" and "my info is good" in almost the same sentence

LOL

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

You made a little bit of sense until you said nani was for sale. He is one of our best players. Stats show that, the most assists in 2011 in PL. Same goals and assists as ronaldo after same apps and he is still improving.

Stop talking s**te mate

Neil {Ed007's Note - Nani was available to other clubs in the summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If you read my post I did not say I knew who was coming I said deals have been put in place as is the norm when big clubs go after players that they don't want other clubs knowing.also ask anyone whose involved in football and they will tell you that every player will have a price and SAF is well known for selling players whom might still look to be top players but soon fade when they leave also if you look at psg they have come out and listed players that have been offered to them and berba and park were in that list, some people on this don't understand the way football clubs work it ain't always bout the great game,if it was do you really think that SAF would pay £7m for bebe,a player he never even seen play get real lads !!!

Away from all these Morrison and Pogba rumours.

The signing of Honda is being talked about as the answer to uniteds problems?

IMO it can only add to them.

The problem being having too many average players at united.

Also Rio Ferdinand mentioned Honda on his twitter?

Could this mean anything Ed/Syd?

JakeH91 {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't imagine so.}

Believable4 Unbelievable7

I saw that too. He obviously rates him! He's right when he says Japanese football is improving, producing players like Honda, Kawaga and Nagatomo..

Syd!, Eds, what do you guys think of the whole Morrison situation? Do you think he will move abroad? I can't see it personally. At least with all this Morrison hype, the press have laid off Pogba!

#ags 19

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I think Morrison will only play for Barcelona or United, but we would pay him better than Barcelona would and offer him more first team chances, so I think he will end up signing a new deal here.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ags 19

I know you have asked Syd and Eds but here is my thoughts!

I wonder if United are going to strike a deal with Roma so that Ravel will go there but like the Chelsea and Romeu arrangement with Barcelona we will have an option to have him back after 1, 2 or 3 years. Hopefully this will help him grow up and if he is a big United supporter like he claims then surely he'd want to come back! I also think maybe United might try and get De Rosi as part of the deal as his contract is running down but not necessarily part of the Ravel deal but more a gentlemanly agreement with Roma, but both deals seperately if that makes sense!

I also think Nani could go in the summer and replaced bu Gaitan who will get the 7 shirt?!

Just my thoughts though!

Sorry, over to you Syd and Eds!

Ports {Ed007's Note - Don't be daft Ports. Join in with any thread mate. I personally think Morrison will leave Utd. I have no inside info and don't bother with Twatter etc I just think money (agents or whatever) have turned the boys head.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed007

Yeah my feelings keep flipping between him staying and leaving!

I now think it's dragged on to long. If he was to stay then surely contract signed and sealed by now.

I'd rather him leave then us be held to ransom. I just hope it results in Pogba staying?!

Ports {Etd007's Note - I'll be disappointed if he leaves. I don't see much of the youth games and was looking forward to seeing him after hearing the way everyone on here raved about him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate. I put their names down, but any opinion is welcome!

I think this is just like the Pogba saga a month or two ago, lots of speculation, but no fruition. I think they'll both be here next season.

Roma to make bid for Morrison! 500k. United are more likely to sell for less to a foreign team!

Believable21 Unbelievable15

I'm more and more convinced we will go English if we can, and young is even more likely. Although the odd foreign player could come in if he is suitable and would be commited to Manchester United.

A list of English targets i reckon would be:

Nathan Clyne
Wilfred Zaha
Jack Rodwell
Ross Barkley
Leighton Baines

I'd be happy with any of them, apart from probably Baines, i don't rate him that much. But the others would be good and wouldn't be a bad price to be honest!

Also, anyone think that Leandro Damiao might be an option as a striker? He's tall, strong, skillful and pretty clinical. So i think he'd be well suited to the EPL - wouldn't be a bad shout? More likely than Cavani, Torres etc.

RedDevil19

Believable5 Unbelievable12

Clyne and Barkley would prove good signings, definitely. Im always sceptical of championship strikers for some reason so it would depend how much Zaha would cost IMO. He looks like a pacey, strong player but then again David Nugent looked handy in the championship. ;)

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

You draw up a new list of targets everyday RedDevil19.

We get that you want some quality to come in, i just dont understand why its the same post but different targets everyday.

No offence, mind.

MUFC_Devil

Agree0 Disagree0

Damiao good but they want 25m for him

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted after the carling cup again against Palace that I thought Zaha looks a real talent and maybe we should look at getting him. Palace have a fantastic success rate with producing youngsters so his education he got there and playing senior football already will serve him well and with the extra development from United, no offence to Palace, he could be a real star.
My only worry with these youngsters with all you hear about is will they be prepared to play as a squad player after being a regular starter even if it is for a championship side!
For me Zaha, Clyne and Barkley would be fantastic. I know they are all young but we are really producing some exciting young players and with the changes being made for homegrown talent then going english is not a bad thing!

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

This is man utd we're talking about not some mid tabled team, those players are no better than anything we've already got worse than most

Just suggestions for people to have a think, discussion about really! Makes the page more interesting i think!

I don't really have a 'list of definate people i want' - just suggestions

RedDevil19

Its the talent that they have that makes them so interesting 'unnmamed'.

Damiao would be a good deal for around 22 million i think!

''Who ever keeps sayin don't move to m.city , m.city have never ones been in my mind and who every tells you I'm movin to the ignore them :)''

Tweeted by Ravel Morrison around an hour ago. Although I probably won't be the only one, I thought I'd pass it on.

APC

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Saw it earlier, you bet me to putting it up. Good news, but wish he'd learn to type.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a good job his football is better than his spelling.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

He says city has never been the one on his mind, but is he not stating indirectly that there is another team he would be interested in going to....barcelona? I would think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see him at Barca, he'd be miles off their first team with Xavi, Cesc, Iniesta, Pedro, Sanchez, Messi all in front, throw in Neymar if and when he signs for them. And the total culture shock as well, it looks like he struggles with english so can't see him mastering spanish.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is Barcelona.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard roma want him too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Roma have had a bid accepted. United want him to go abroad. Imagine him thinking he's a gansta over there when he comes up to the ultras. His career will be finished if and when he leaves and no one will guide him and help him out like United have.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think a move abroad is the only way for him to get his act together. Being away from his mummy and his stupid mates will force him to grow up and do his job (playing football!)

Found it odd that he referred to Citeh as m.city rather than just city which everyone from manchester does. Wonder if he is eyeing a move to another club with city in the name!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Uh, I think he meant 'have never once' but just spelt it wrong. Don't think he was intimating an indirect link to another club.

De Laet's loan spell at Norwich terminated 5 months early. Is he being sold like Drinkwater or being given a chance in the first team, or is it for another reason ?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I'd reckon sold. How has his loan gone? Can't have been that good if its been canned.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he isn't good enough then we should off load. With him and Drinkwater that's another 2 wages gone. Are we reducing the wages ready for a signing ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wasn't it because he has been injured so much and just hasn't played any games so Norwich don't want to have to pay for a player who isn't theirs and won't play

Agree0 Disagree0

De Laets Always Injured, Thats why the loan was terminated. He is not good enough for United and IMO he will never be good enough for United.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

He is in charge of psg, they do have a larger possibly almost unlimited budget. bought pastore for i think 40 mill euros. they were taken over and now have a sugar daddy, so yes they can target almost anyone.. those players you quoted are really rather expensive.

Danny Welbeck is asking Manchester United for £60,000 a week which the board think is unrealistic.

Busby 68

Believable14 Unbelievable6

To be fair he is an england international so why shouldnt he be on £60k per week, similar to daniel sturridge

Agree0 Disagree0

Sturridge doesn't play for United so what he earns is irrelevent.
The £45k he's been offered puts him on the same lavel as OUR young England internationals, like Clevs, Jones and Smalling, who reportedly get £45k - £50k.
What is it with these kids? I'd play for £45k a year, never mind a week.
Some people don't know how lucky they are.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is NOT worth 65K a week, he's only had one half a decent season so far and used mainly as a sub last season, he has to earn it yet, what is it with these bl**dy kids, they want to be overnight millionaires because they get a game here and there, he's only just starting out, he should be concentrating on staying in the side not what he's earning, plenty of time for that later.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest Hernandez is earning £80,000 a week, and Welbeck is keeping him out of the starting eleven so I can see where he's coming from. Plus he's playing for a club whos corporate wing continually screw their supports for every penny they can in terms of tickets and merchandise, and are always boasting about the vast profits they reel in every year. So why should we expect the players to be less greedy than the club?

Obviously we'll get a load of party line replies saying that players should be happy to be playing for United and accept whatever contract they're offered or the old chestnut about staying at United and the money will follow. Welbeck can get the money he wants elsewhere, so as with all the other contract disputes, United can either start paying big boy wages or lose players to clubs who will. And if you're part of the crowd who don't want greedy players who demand more, then you'll have to get used to players who have the ability to do less.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny Pughnited....What a load of utter crap, your'e one of those fans who thinks money grows on trees, the poster above you who says he should concentrate on staying in the side has hit the nail on the head, once Welly is a seasoned regular and gets to the point where he has kept his place regularly for most of a season and half to two seasons THEN he can ask for silly money, at the moment he is just a boy NOT a superstar, he is still learning the bulk of his trade, he is on more than good enough wages at present and has to learn that he has to EARN more rewards not demand them after a half a season, it is becoming more and more common place for kids to think they've arrived because they have a run in a side, it makes me think sometimes that there are as many fans as players out there who struggle to get a grasp on reality!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets get this straight, this quote came from the daily fail... welbeck agreed is contract before christmas and is just waiting for formalities to be sorted before extending., his is going nowhere. the press for some reason seem to move from one united player to another at the minute.. the way they are going every player will have refused a contract before may.
jenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Dear unnamed pillock,

While I agree that money doesn't usually grow on trees (bananas being an obvious exception, profitable fruit there), United have been quite happy to release info on the profitability of the club, and the cash reserves at its disposal.

The second point, that most people seem that have trouble getting their heads around, is that players like Welbeck (is alleged to be) are not the exception, they are the rule. Young players employ an agent to make them as much money as possible. In Welbeck's case he can see that a player like Hernandez, not a lot older than him, has got a fairly substantial deal of the back of one season. He's also quite aware that he's keeping Hernandez out of the first team. United make Welbeck a contract offer through his agent. So his agent makes a few inquiries, finds out a bit about what other clubs would be willing to pay and informs Welbeck. Welbeck then rejects the contract because he knows that if he leaves on a free transfer he can get higher wages.

I'm sick and tired of all the "back in the day brigade" whining that players need to earn their wages through performances. The truth is that they don't and they know this and their agents know this. So you can be morally outraged by the greed of youth all you want (but football is a culture of greed so it's hardly surprising), but in practical terms United can either pay their players the wages that they know they can get at another club or risking losing them. That is the reality of modern football.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez won't be on anywhere near £80k a week mate, that was paper talk. He joined the club on around £15k a week just like Diouf, Lindegaard etc. He will be on a similar wage to that of Jones, Smalling and Cleverley now. He was on chicken feed at Chivas.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny Welbeck isn't asking for 60k a week his agent/reps might be but he is not. All parties still talking, expect a contract to be signed soon. Also I'm guessing that was in the 'Daily Fail'? If so I wouldn't read too much into it.

Danny Drinkwater had been on loan at Barnsley, but Leicester have moved to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent basis.

By all accounts we are about to bid £3m for Nathan Clyne this transfer window?? Never really seen him play so what is he like?

Tucker

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Not better then Silva Bros.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clyne is much better than the da silva twins! He is solid defensively and is absolutely rapid, he will rarely be beaten for pace. For a 20 year old he plays with so much experiance, his positional sense is brilliant and hes captained palace quite a few times and hes only 20. He does get forward well but not as much as he probably could. He is already better than Kyle walker and will be an england international in the future. People saying he is not Utd standard need to actually watch him play and not think just because hes a championship player hes not good enough. If he goes to Utd he will be one of the best right backs around under fergies tution i promise you.

English though!

£3million? His contract runs out in the summer and while he would be a good buy, I would be surprised if SAF did not sit this one out and wait to get him in the summer or, at the very least, try and haggle down the price. SAF constantly claims no value in the market but I think it is the man himself who has lost sight of what value is.

I've heard people on here mention Ocampos as a target a number of times. Firstly is he any good? Secondly, is there any truth to the rumours?

Red Monkey {Ed002's Note - River Plate's Lucas Ocampos has been looked at by a number of sides with Bayern Munich and Chelsea maintaining an interest. I understand that Diego Caniggia took a look on behalf of Liverpool but it was decided that he would be too expensive to buy and that seems to have ended any brief interest that Liverpool had. Inter Milan, Sevilla and Palermo have also shown an interest and Juventus (not either of the Milan clubs) made a bid. Perhaps one for next year as a move in January seems very unlikely.}
