What has he said mate?

Probably a good thing.

I'll start by saying I like him as a player, his scoring record is great and he has all the attributes to be a success in this league.

But.

It would cause too many issues. He had the hump at Paris for playing on the right and being second fiddle to zlatan so he wasn't going to move here and play on the right or sit on the bench begin Rooney.

Also if he did start up front what do you do with Rooney. can't bench him with those wages and he's captain. can't put Rooney into midfield especially with 40 million of new signings.

Too many problems.

"This summer Edi has received interest from top clubs who are chasing him"

"He hasn't listened to them because he was given guarantees about his position at the end of last season.

"We have been led to believe that Ibrahimovic will pay further and further away from the box in order to touch the ball more, leaving the striker position for Edi to fill, which was the case several times at the end of 2014-15.

"In such conditions, Edi will be happy at PSG."

Care to share ?? The comments I mean.

Cheers mate

If that's the case the list of top strikers has just decreased even more.

First time post so here it goes.

I agree that cavani is a good fit for premier league as he is strong and would be able to give it back to the likes of terry and Cahill. However, as mort said will we really bench Rooney or play him deeper to accommodate cavani given rooney's wages and schweinie and schneiderlin coming in. I can't see it myself.
We should focus our time trying to strike a deal for muller or lewandowski.

19 Jul 2015 15:34:33
If we signed muller or lewi would that bot be the same scenario?

19 Jul 2015 16:36:52
The problem with Rooney being the main striker is that when he isn't getting the ball he drops deep looking for it, we then don't have the outlet up top as there's no one ahead of the midfied. It was a constant problem last season without an out and out striker

Agree7 Disagree1

19 Jul 2015 18:24:56
Surely our strengthened midfield will help alleviate that problem, while Depay looks like the type who'll push forward in that situation and take advantage of any defenders pulled out of position by Rooney dropping deep.

19 Jul 2015 19:18:06
Your spot on junction and anyone who watched the match on Saturday will see that same problem was still there.

Failed to watch last seen season lad's. Rooney was central striker especially when he had the quality run. He was disciplined and stayed central occupying the center halves all day. Played like a proper disciplined centre forward. If he's told not to drop deep to dictate and let the others just find him that's what he'll do.

19 Jul 2015 22:11:37
*When we had that quality run

20 Jul 2015 00:43:27
He needs to watch videos of Mark Hughes and Alan Shearer of how to play the main striker, back to goal hold the ball up, unselfish runs making room for others. As good as Rooney is he isn't the complete striker by a long way, he wants to be involved too much

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2015 06:55:35
Missing the point. Those important games I mentioned above he was very disciplined as was told to be, stay central. Wait for the ball, occupy the centre and that's what he did.

Couple of rumours going around
1. Utd will trigger Pedro release clause
2. Utd have put in a 2nd bid for Ramos

Make if them what you will

Don't shoot the messenger :)

There are mixed informations about the release clause of Pedro from 30 to 150mln.And we have plenty in his position hence he is not a striker, though he is a good player. I think Ramos link is dead as Real don't want to sell.

The spark in paper talk about Pedro will likely be because of the belief that ADM is leaving.
I see this morning we are linked with bale again, again probably wishful thinking.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 10:49:45
No chance of Bale IMO, if we let ADM go, then I like the idea of Pedro to replace him.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 13:09:29
Pedro to replace di Maria?

Not a chance, who in their right mind would see any sense in that. I don't rate Di Maria very highly but pedro? He's fast and that is it. Certainly not a better option than di Maria, and very much like Navas IMO, very little end product.

Looks like Pedro will end up at chelsea if you look at the barca page

19 Jul 2015 13:05:58
Perron would be excellent signing: goal scoring right winger we need (memories also of Kanchelskis)

Stable of fast attacking wingers would suit LvG (Depay, Young, Januzaj, Valencia) plus attacking full backs. Think Di Maria will leave. Won't be so much pressure to track back and defend as much stronger midfield.

Think Mata would be main casualty. I'd push Herrera further forward - could develop similar to Scholes.

Would need striker to put all chances away though.

RedDon, nobody compared Di Maria and Pedro. Just saying that is a good option if Di Maria goes. And maybe you haven't watched Pedro enough to know he is a very good player, better than Valencia and Young in attacking manner.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jul 2015 15:14:02
Or maybe I just don't see what I want to see, rather what it is actually showing. Not one game have I watched and thought he stood out. Fair enough he will be outshined by players such as Messi and Neymar but with the game time he did get before the purchases of Neymar and Suarez, he hasn't impressed. To be honest he would have been sold before Sanchez if he wasn't a barcelona boy.

Pedro is a good player, but with Mata, Di Maria, Depay, Januzaj and Young as wing options he really isn't needed.

And if Di Maria was to leave I would hope United had somebody in mind to replace him of a higher calibre than Pedro. Bale, Griezmann or Reus for example.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 15:49:36
Didn't he score against us in the champions league final?

Agree3 Disagree1

19 Jul 2015 16:35:35
I am with RedDon on this , if ADM goes then we should be look to Bale, Griezman or Reus ( especially if we are looking at Lewandowski and put them together again) and not Pedro. I would rather give Pereira time than buy Pedro if ADM leaves. We need goals and a dangerous striker not a Barca reserve

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 16:50:04
Pedro who under Peps Barca probably the best football team ever played week in week out and was fantastic. Unselfish team player who can play the pressing game and play right across the front 3 and for about £20 million. Yeah don't rate him either.

Agree1 Disagree4

19 Jul 2015 19:43:09
First player to score in 6 domestic competitions, first player to score in 4 consecutive games for barca but no end product? Very odd statement

Agree0 Disagree2

19 Jul 2015 20:15:18
What is more odd is that you chose to put words in my mouth. I said very little not no. You could put Gabriel Obertan in that pep side and expect him to get goals.

Agree3 Disagree1

19 Jul 2015 20:36:40
No/very little the point still stands. he's been at barca since he was a teenager I don't think pep being manager improved his ability to score goals. If he wasnt sat behind messi suarez and neymar i'm sure he would still be hitting the goals as he was before which I think was 1 in every 2. What would you say your rationale is to say he has very little end product?

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Jul 2015 01:53:29
If you had a list top ten underrated players I would have no doubt Pedro would b one of them he knows where the goal is u can guarantee at least 10 goals a season not bad for a winger

{Ed001's Note - you surely mean over rated not under right?}
