Reports are suggesting that David moyes is interested in signing dries mertens as a replacement for the outgoing Nani, what do you think guys should Nani leave?

Believable39 Unbelievable37

Mertens is joining Napoli
RDG

Agree1 Disagree0

We already have a replacement for any winger that may depart and that's the way Zaha, Zaha we like it. Zaha, Zaha.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Erm, sorry Ozwald, but Zaha brings us up to strength since we only have 3 dedicated wingers at the moment, if Nani leaves, we still need a replacement. Zaha isn't good enough to be first choice yet anyway.

Was on holiday in Spain and met a dutch guy who claimed Utd are interested in Danish international Matthias Jorgensen of PSV. Who can play RB or CB. Not sure when they have signed Varela and are keen on Garay. Thought it may be worth mentioning. Seasider87

Believable7 Unbelievable43

Sounds like definately double dutch to me. lol

I was on holiday in Florida and an amercian came up to me an d said Manchester United were going to sign, Goofy he plays right back, --- right back in the theme park where I heard it lol lol

Sorry, had to post this with all these bizzare rumours that do not even make sense to post
lol
Simply Red

Agree2 Disagree5

Goofy? Oh no not Suarez please lol!

Mad Dog.

Agree3 Disagree1

The rumour about Mathias 'Zanka' Jørgensen to MUFC has not reached Denmark and he is btw not good enough to play for United. He is not playing at PSV and he is not near the danish national team.
/The Dane

Agree2 Disagree2

I was only relaying a rumour I was told on holiday. I neither support Man United or have heard of Jorgensen. Seasider87

to all the hungry spendthrifts over here
there will be two additions coming very soon
theoretically by next week so ngiak hears
but some processes may take longer
gan {Ed004's Note - I reckon hopefully Strootman and Alcantara will be tied up shortly}

Believable40 Unbelievable8

Dear mr Ed 004
ngiak does not know who but one of them is quite a bit more costly than the other
probably says ngiak
gan

Agree0 Disagree1

Depends how you see "more costly".

In terms of the real world, £1million is quite a bit more costly.

In terms of the footballing world, £10-15m is quite a bit more costly.

In which terms are we talking Gan? What price range do you believe these two players will be in?

MPez

Ps. I've always wanted a pet penguin, any chance I could take Ngiak off your hands for a week or so? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Any 2 from Strootman, Thiago & Garay?

I'm still not convinced Thiago will arrive at OT (seems to good to be true right now but I hope I'm wrong!) so I would guess at the other 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barca will not be allowing Thiago to leave under any circumstances, the kid is too good, he is going to be world class player with a value of at least £50m in 2-3 years time and Barca ain't so stupid that they are blind to that fact. Afraid this one is just wind and fanciful wishful thinking on our parts.

LR

Agree1 Disagree5

Thiago and isco would be too good to be true, thiago and strootman is not unlikely.

Thorne

Agree2 Disagree1

LR, if Barcelona are so clever why didn't they play him enough this season to stop his release clause dropping from €90 down to €19. Fingers crossed he will be in the red of united next season.

Love the site ed

Much love

Agree5 Disagree1

Strootman and Thiago would be a fantastic summer, two class midfielders that we've been crying out for! How would they fit in a team though because surely you have to include Shinji, and Carrick?

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

OZWALD
I'm not really a fan of the somewhat slow and over rated Mr Strrotman, but he and Thiago could fit into the team with ease. Strootman would play deep with Carrick. Thiago would join Rooney (if he stays) and Kagawa. Our width would come from any of the attacling three behind RVP making runs out to the wings and from attacking full backs. Moyes tended to play without orthodox wingers at Everton. let's be honest all three of our wingers had awful seasons 2012 -13. We can always have Zaha and who ever of our wide men we keep on the bench to change things as necessary. In some games we could use wingers in others the formation already mentioned. These days football is very much a squad game, as I guess you know. So different formations can be formed as needed game by game, from a pool of 25 players
Mil

Agree4 Disagree1

Thiago deal to be completed by next week! Lb

Agree1 Disagree1

Ozwald, just my take:

I'd play Strootman & Carrick as our deep lying midfielders with Kags (left) and Thiago (right) ahead of them. Not as wingers but attacking midfielders who need to go wide at times to find space, they would naturally cut inside most often. The full backs would therefore need to provide width (Baines would be ideal with Rafael) with Stroot/Carrick providing cover as required. Then Rooney in behind RVP up top.

Obvioulsy when more width is required we'd have Valencia, Young, Zaha, Welbeck as options.

Agree1 Disagree0

Strootman/Thiago will cost about the same though won't they? If the penguin is right it can't be these 2, must be one plus someone else. Surprise Lewandoski deal? I wish.

Brendan81

Agree0 Disagree0

If Penguin is speaking the truth it is hardly going to be Thiago and Strootman is it guys, think about it! 15m release clause and Strootman rumoured at 12-18m odd. If not speaking the truth good guessword Penguin seeing U21 tournament finished and that other players also that are not at confederations cup or u20s holidays will either be commencing or finishing and Moyes will be back from holidays, clever penguin ;)
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree1

Ronaldo and thiago. I wish. Probably thiago and a youngster like mendy.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Mil' or 'Mik' I suspect?

Lo, it seems we have very much the same ideas! your post wasn't there when I did mine but they're very similar.

Let's just hope we get Thiago in as well as Strootman, I'm not yet convinced on the former but I really hope it comes off. I think that setup could be very effective.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm likely the only one that would rather forget about Strootman to sign a winger instead. Prayin for Thiago that would be bargain of the century. Carrick and Jones have the holding midfield position nailed on and they both offer something different when they play there, don't see why we would want another one. Thiago alongside Carrick would be sensational ad I think he's actually best in a 2 man midfield next to a holding player. We have Rooney and Kagawa to accommodate as well so for me it's Thiago and a winger instead of 2 CMs.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree1

Strootman isn't like Carrick I don't know why people are trying to make comparisons. Okay they're both midfielders, but Strootman is more of a box to box player, can make powerful runs and likes to get forward. He has a lot of energy so he would work well alongside Carrick but isn't like him.

I was just thinking how deadly we'd be with Thiago and Kagawa in the same team, both very intelligent, good in tight spaces and superb ball retention ability.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Strootman can play anywhere in midfield. He started as a 10 but was moved further back by his coach to take advantage of his physique and help him progress. With Jones and Carrick doing great in the holding role I don't see the point in splashing out for another holding player. Thiago or Strootman plus a winger is what we should be looking at, Cleverley will need game time as well.

Ed002 apparently Thiago's match ball was signed by all of the players but there is a picture with see you in Manchester Ed do you have any more information {Ed004's Note - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iG6WhlyqYCc - pause at the 43rd second and then look at bottom left of the ball. It reads "Nos vemos en Manchester" - (See you in Manchester)}

Believable43 Unbelievable8

Thiago is class

Agree3 Disagree0

De gea must have signed it

Agree2 Disagree0

Could be man city but hopefully not.

Agree0 Disagree0

It does look like that and it means 'We will see each other in Manchester', as if something has been agreed already

Danny14

Agree1 Disagree0

It was dea gea that signed the ball, doesn't mean anything.

ali g

Agree1 Disagree0

If its de Gea its Manchester United if its Isco its city

Agree0 Disagree0

If it is Isco who signed it, it doesn't mean thiago has to play for man city to still see him in Manchester. He could play for United and still see each other in Manchester, I mean he could even play for Wigan or Bolton for them to still see each other in Manchester. Do you see my point?

Agree2 Disagree0

If Thiago has a release clause and we meet that release clause, and the player wants to join, then surely Barca has no say cannot stop him?
Gary

Agree0 Disagree0

Saw this same thing. 4 possibilities: Isco signed the ball and is going to City and Thiago is coming here, Isco signed the ball and is going to City and Thiago is going there, De Gea signed the ball and Thiago is coming here, or De Gea signed the ball and Thiago is going to city (which I doubt De Gea would sign that if the latter were true). there's also the dream scenario where Isco signed the ball and both are coming to us but let's be realistic.

Hopefully Thiago is on his way.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it automatically means that he'll be joining Utd - it may be de Gea teasing him, trying to persuade him to join, rather than anything concrete.

Agree1 Disagree0

If we do get Thiago then no doubt Barca will put a buy back clause in him.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was de gea teasing thiago about joining man utd. It possibly doesn't mean anything but it does remind me of the actions at the world cup putting a bar a shirt on fabregas. let's hope he joins. Bookedredmole

A few weeks ago the site was full of rumours about Rooney leaving, with some people wanting him to stay and others glad to see the back of him. All seems to have gone quiet now and I wonder whether Ed04 or any of the other Ed's have heard anything else? {Ed004's Note - His most likely destination for next season is Old Trafford}

Believable19 Unbelievable5

He's staying

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed004, I feared that might be the case. Probably limits our spending and complicates where he'll play next season and what our shape will be. Just hope he turns up for pre-season training fit and determined to have a good season. {Ed004's Note - I have no problem if the club decide to keep Rooney but only if he acts like a proper professional and gets himself into top shape. He already scores 20+ goals a season for us (usually) and in a team of higher quality, Alcantara, Strootman, Kagawa, Carrick etc he will hopefully improve his game a lot more from playing with technically very good players and of course RVP}

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree Ed004. First test for Moyes and I suspect Rooney will have to perform during the first part of the season or he'll be part of the January sales.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed04 are we friends now after the Evra debate!?
I agree totally with the Rooney comments if he gets himself fit and shows he still wants to play for the shirt. I saw a picture of him recently looking very slim so maybe he has decided to loose a few pounds after Fergies comments however I will never really like him after asking to leave twice! {Ed004's Note - I still think Evra should be sold didn't know i'd fell out with someone over it. This is a banter site and people have different opinions}

Alcantara was given a signed match ball for his hat-trick in the final. Most of the team signed it, but there is a photo that shows the words 'See you in Manchester' scribbled on it.

Only question is was it De Gea or Isco?

Kai

Believable31 Unbelievable4

I reckon it was David de gea because isco will more likely join real madrid so fimgers crossed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not seen it but my first question would always be, photoshop? {Ed004's Note - That is what I thought as well}

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if it was isco doesn't mean he's going to city does it

Agree1 Disagree0

Couldn't have been photoshopped it was in a video in youtube, pause it at the 0:43 mark and you can see it says "Nos vemos en Manchester" or as you said "See you in Manchester"

Keep up the good work Ed002 and especially the sarcastic replies which I love!

Just saw a tweet which said that the United store have stopped making Valencia 7 shirts since he's getting a new number for the 2013-14 season.

Could this mean anything?

Believable18 Unbelievable25

Thiago as the new iconic number 7?

Agree1 Disagree1

Bebe's coming home, and he's to be given a fitting shirt number!

Agree3 Disagree1

ALso just been too OT and can't get a Valencia No 7 shirt

Agree1 Disagree0

I would love and hope this to be true as I like Valencia must the iconic number 7 for him. no! And don't even get me started on the jersey being given to Owen before him! Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo, please tell me we have a new name to fill the shirt and his name is Thiago as for me his capable of filling it and bein gmentioned in the same breath as some of those names mentioned. SAying that, why would a "shop" not sell merchandise, sounds like bull, hope it isnt
Invisible Stuey

Agree1 Disagree0

I've just been to ot and you can get a valencia 7 shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can also order the Valencia 7 shirt online via the Megastore

Agree0 Disagree0

You can print Valencia 7 on a shirt, but the megastore cannot guarantee any numbers yet as they’ve not been announced.

Also it is worth noting that the ONLINE aspect of the clubs store is serviced by a 3rd party company, Kitbag. So the online store would still be able to buy whatever name/number you wanted.
Goc5560

Agree0 Disagree0

When do they get announced

Agree0 Disagree0

What if your last name happens to be Valencia and you want number 7? Will they refuse that too?

redseven

Agree1 Disagree0

Ronaldo. booooooooom.

Agree1 Disagree0

Surely if it was ronaldo he would have the number 9 shirt hence CR9?

so if true it could be Thiago?

Agree0 Disagree0

CR7 - PLUM!

Agree0 Disagree0

CR9 was 1 season. Take notice before piping up!

Agree0 Disagree0

If the iconic number 7 has been taken off Valencia, its more than likely the club feel that the number was a burden to him last year as he played nowhere near his full potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2013 03:59:15
Went to Old Trafford yesterday and wanted to buy a home kit with Valencia #7 on it only to be advised by staff that I should wait as it looks like Valencia won't be waering no 7 next year? Take that as you will. I presume it measn Valencia will be sold rather than us buy an iconic no 7.

tucker

Believable25 Unbelievable22

If true, fair enough but I saw a few things on tw****r saying the same stuff so I doubt this is true.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that's true, I know everyone will expect someone like Thaigo, or A and other potential newcomer to get the infamous shirt.

Personally, and it might be controversial, I would like to see Kagawa get the #7. The lad is very talented, bags of flair, applies himself in the right way (role model) and I personally think with his personality he'll thrive with the responsibility of taking on the shirt.

Thoughts?

WF Red Devil

Agree2 Disagree0

Odd that as you can still order a shirt with his name along with number 7 on the back.
Also why would someone in the store know about our possible deals before others?
One bad season doesn't mean hell be sold. Don't forget he also played right back due to injuries.
I can think of 4 other players I'd get rig of before him

Melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post Tucker. Its posts like this, that make this a great site. Not the usual, Eds do you know this guy or Eds blah blah blah,

Admiral

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would you want Valencia on your back?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Could it be possible that Valencia could wearing the number 2 jersey
rock the red

Agree0 Disagree0

I called the Megastore this morning to check if this is actually true.
They said they have not advised anyone not to buy a kit with Valencia 7 on the back, that they have no idea where this rumour has come from!
furthermore, they insisted that they would not know about a transfer before anyone else did!

Mattchester United

Agree0 Disagree0

Never mind. we are still waiting for 2 guys in black suit entering old trefford rumour.

Rodio17

Agree1 Disagree0

Good news in my opinion. The shirt has been devalued enough by giving it to stupid long punts already. Owen we knew was past it. Valencia may have had a good season a few years ago, but its clear he was at the top of his game at that time, and he still wasnt world class.

uniteds 7 deserves more respect. We have van persie in the squad, I don't see why we didn't give it to him last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny that the Megastore at OT was still selling them this morning when I got my lads RVP one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe they are giving it to Rooney? a sign to tell him he is valued at the club? just a thought

Agree0 Disagree0

Are we honestly meant to believe that you tried to order a shirt with Valencia's name on the back yesterday?

I do hope that Thiago and Strootman deals are completed. Think that would be 2 first class additions to our squad and would change our dynamic as the wingers haven't been cutting it. With kagawa, Carrick and those 2 we'd be a tidy unit with some steel in the middle.

Agree1 Disagree0

Smells like utter bull as it is a shop selling merchandise, still would love to see a new number 7, young talented player signed who could fill the jersey, someone to take away the stain of giving the thing to Owen which even typing it makes me feel ill
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree0

Try ordering it online then via the Megastore, you can get Valencia 7 then!
