ED DO SERIOUSLY THINK AGUERO IS THE MAN TO REPLACE SHREK IF HE GOES? ? I THINK DARREN BENT CUS HES A PROVEN GOAL SCORER IN THE PREM PLUS WITH MORE ASSISTANCE AT UNITED HED IMPROVE AND HED BE ABOUT HALF THE PRICE I THINK 18 MIL PLUS OWEN PERM N WELBECK LOAN I THINK THATS WHY BRUCE HAS SIGNED GYAN CUS HE KNOWS BENT IS TOO GOOOOOOOD FOR THEM AND THEN SIGN HAMSIK OR DEFOUR WITH REMAINDER OF CASH? ? WHAT DO YOU THINK ED?

THE PHENOMINAL ONE {ed's note - Bent is a good shout too, though I am not sure he is quite good enough for a title challenging side. The reason I suggested Aguero is because he has the workrate, the power, the pace and the ability to be a huge success here. Plus his club are in a bit of trouble for money and have to sell someone, they are not in a position to reject offers of cold, hard cash. I don't see you having enough left over from the sale of Rooney to buy Hamsik or Defour if you buy Aguero, so yes maybe your plan is better, I was just purely thinking who would be the best like for like replacement for Rooney.}

HI TO ALL THE DELUDED FANS UNITEDS BEST DEALS IN MY OPINION ARE

REAL MADRID = BENZEMA DIARRA AND 10 MIL
BARCALONA = PEDRO AND 20 MIL
SURELY THE ONLY WAY HE WOULD GO TO ANOTHER EPL CLUB IS IF THE DEAL WAS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE ABOVE CLUBS SO;
MAN SH* *Y = ADEBAYOR JOHNSON 20 MIL
CHELSKI = STRAIGHT UP 40 MIL I BELIEVE

LOOK DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER I JUST GO BY WHAT I HEAR FROM THE CLUB AND PEOPE IN IT BUT I BELIEVE REALS IS THE BEST OFFER AND MOST LIKELY AS BENZEMA WAS A LONG TERM TARGET OF FERGIES AT LYON AND DIARRA IS CREATIVE IN CENTRAL MIDFIELD
BUT I WOULDNT MIND STRAIGHT UP CASH 40 MIL
IF THAT DID HAPPEN THE GLAZERS WUD HAV TO REINVEST BECAUSE OF THE SEASON TICKET SALES WILL FALL MORE AND WE WOULDNT MAKE IT TO THE TOP 4 SO CL MONEY GONE I THINK IF WE GT 40 MIL
THE TARGETS WOULD BE AND THIS IS WHAT IV HEARD :
FERNANDO TORRES 25 MIL
DEFOUR 12 MIL

Sir alex the glazier puppet knows the game is up. Rooney cash will be used to pay the bank debt.Our club is heading for a spell in mid table and until alex and the glaziers go we are in trouble. Ed what do you reckon? Is our club doomed? Dublin red {ed's note - I don't think it is quite doomed yet, but change is needed now before the slide does become inexorable.}

Ed what do you mean by needing to make a change now? Do you mean find decent replacements? Change the manager? Get rid of the Glazers?

I know the latter needs to happen but what was you talking about exactly? {ed's note - decent replacements, first and foremost, if that means getting rid of the Glazers or changing the manager as well then so be it. But every time I watch United I feel like I am watching Liverpool at the end of Dalglish's time, it just has that end of an era feel about it. All the same signs, bizarre decisions from the manager, the loss of the fear factor against the lesser teams and the feeling that you are chasing someone else rather than being the team to beat. I just don't know how much is being caused by Fergie's hands being tied behind his back or whether it is more about him finally being at the end of his time.}

SOM - SPOKE WITH MY SOURCE TODAY. THINGS HAVE MOVED AT AN INCREDIBLE PACE. HE WAS NOT AWARE THAT ROONEY HAD MADE FEELINGS KNOWN BACK IN AUGUST AND THAT HE WANTED OUT. ALL SORT OF STORIES FLYING ABOUT TODAY. LATEST HE HAS HEARD FROM WITHIN OT IS THAT ROONEY ALREADY HAS DEAL IN PLACE WITH CITY! ASTRONOMICAL WAGES ON OFFER. ALSO APPEARS THAT COLEEN BLAMES SOME OF HIS TEAMMATES FOR WHAT HAPPENED AND WILL NOT TOLERATE HIM STAYING AT OT. SOURCE BELIEVES THAT ROONEY IS NOT 100% ABOUT LEAVING UTD BUT BELIEVES THAT IT IS ONLY WAY HE CAN SAVE MARRIAGE ?SAF NOT KEEN TO SELL TO RIVALS BUT REALISES THAT BIGGEST BID WILL COME FROM CITY. HE HAS ALSO HEARD THAT SAF ALREADY HAS REPLACEMENT IN MIND AND IT APPEARS [ALTHOUGH NOT CONFIRMED] THAT THE VERY SHORT SHORTLIST CONSISTS OF SUAREZ, SANCHEZ AND AGUERO WITH THE FORMER BEING FAVOURITE. HOWEVER, MAJOR PART OF ANY TRANSFER FUND WILL BE USED TO STRENTHEN MIDFIELD AND WIDE POSITION NOW THAT VALENCIA OUT [AND UNLIKELY TO EVER RETURN TO SAME LEVEL ?]

THE SEAGULL

Seagull, you have just said that Coleen wants him to leave as she does not want him anywhere near his team mates. Well that's funny seems he wanted to leave in January and Coleen never knew nothing about his grubby affair back then. Rooney told Fergie on August 14th that he wants to leave, Coleen never knew about the affair until September 4th.

Also Ed, Mourinho has just said in an interview with SSN that of course he would be interested in Rooney if United wanted to sell but he believes Rooney will stay at United for life. If you are the same Editor then do you still think he will stay? Mourinho seems to think so. {ed's note - I don't believe Rooney will stay, Stretford would never advise him to stay, he is not that type of agent. Mourinho just seems to be saying the right things to not annoy Fergie and put himself in pole position to sign Rooney.}

As for VDV, the £18million "fee" was apparently a story invented by Daniel Levy to "big up" Spurs. VDV had made it abundantly clear he wanted an EPL move rather than a return to the Bundesliga - although I'm guessing Bayern would have been tempting. Either way, Madrid have been very keen under Perez to rebuild relations with United after the snake Calderon's reign, and I'm sure they would have come to an understanding with us (particularly as Mourinho doesn't want to upset the apple cart as he has his eyes on the OT hotseat).

DarkLard08 - I'm not quite sure what you are talking about but Harry Redknapp confirmed on transfer deadline day that he will be signed for around 8m. Bayern Munich's reason for pulling out of the deal and its no secret is that Real Madrid would not budge on 18m. There is no way in the world that he would have been allowed to join United for a mere 8m.

Redman - A good post Red, one thing i have been thinking about is SSN understands he would be interested in a move to City or Chelsea as well as Spain, well surely his missus would not want him teaming up with Lampard, Terry & Cashley the serial adulterers. I ope he signs a six year deal with Real Madrid if indeed he does go, i would hate to see him at another English club.

From southern red in exile,
Recent optimistic post about transfers and team with Benzema, Neur, VDW, Toni.

Look, fans, there is no money left as a Labour minister told his successor.

The Rooney money will not go to signings as the Ronaldo money did not.

AsWenger said, we let his contract run down anyway as is the policy of our owners.

so sad, so unavoidable, but now all is lost, there is no real money to buy top players and top players will not come anymore anyway.
City, Chelsea and Arsenal will be well ahead of us

To everyone who thinks Rooney will go for 50 million plus are kidding themselves.He will go for 30-40 million.

Also to everyone who thinks Rooney will get sold and 4 people will come in with the money from Rooney are very wrong. You think the glazers will allow the wage bill to increase that much?

Let's be honest, the glazers are not going to invest heavly. You'll be lucky to get half the Rooney money. Look at ronaldo. Sold for 80 million and you brought a 16 million replacement.

You have high debt and very high interests payments. So to all you man u fans thinking the 150 million in the bank will buy you messi are in for a massive surprise.

I might be a little basis cus I'm a Liverpool fan but just want to bring some man u fans back to reality.

Manchester United Rumours
Everyone assumes Rooney is leaving for money, and he may well be. However, he has certainly taken a look around at the beginning of the season and seen what is around him, what has been bought in the last two summers. Promises likely made to him that this summer we would compete for the best players to take us back to where we were in 2008. Instead another bargain basement summer. Ronaldo will be chattering about his big pay packet and the ambition of Madrid, Tevez with his pay and the ambition of City's board. Pique at Barcelona says look at the ambition of our club, to win it once is not enough, it is not the pinnacle but the beginning.
Then Rooney arrives back in Manchester to be told this is all we are buying this season. 25 years old with his peak still to come but the club has no cash to match his ambition. Now hark back to Georgie Best, does that ring any bells? Our club then lacked ambition as we had achieved what we set out to do. At least then we had money.

There is one other point that we should not overlook. Coleen. Should the papers be right and Rooney allegedly paraded the alleged tart around in front of his team mates at a team party as if she was his girl and that several players allegedly looked at the two allegedly hand in hand, that Michael Owen and others looked allegedly disgusted at Rooney. Ask yourself, any of you who are in a relationship or married will know, would his wife take him back and then be able to stand in front of his friends/team mates and particularly their wives and be able to look them in the face without being totally demeaned. It was the first thing my wife said, no way she said will Coleen face any of them again. So the price of his marriage is moving away from the team mates who know what went on , who would exchange knowing glances and feel sorry for Coleen. She would hate their pity. Then the alleged tart would no doubt appear at the first opportunity Rooney and his wife went out to an occasion. Coleen would never trust him going out with those team mates again. If you don't think that is an issue ask your partner. A fresh start somewhere else or else.

Let us also address the new contract offer issue. If it is to be believed the Glazers don't like renewing contracts more than 1 year before they are up as they view it costing too much extra when they don't have to pay an increase for another year. Vidic had to make waves to get his sorted out, did Rooney? Did it leave him open to a sniff at larger amounts whilst Glazer and Gill fumbled the ball?

This has come at the wrong time for the Glazers, they are struggling financially, just look at their US business model. Do not bore me with all the cash we have , we havent strengthened in either of the last two summers with what we should have done. So whatever money comes in , will it be spent or will they dare trot out no value in the market? again. . Will there be value in the market suddenly as the panic of the loss of our biggest marketing point sets in? That big Nike deal in two years, that everyone was crowing about, do you really think they will throw the same money into a new long term contract when the marketing of Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney are not there. Do you really think they would throw everything in behind Berbaflop? Do you think season tickets will be bought next season or the corporate sales needed to pay our debts? Wake up.

What we need to do is accept Rooney is very likely to go but it is time to use it as the point where we make a difference. Where we stop accepting drivel that there is no value and start demanding that our club is vacated by this leach that is draining our resources and take Gill with him. To all those who accepted the pathetic excuses and stood by Fergie, take a look at his demeanour today , he looked very sad. I say it is because he has been starved of funds , made to shop for bargains of those at a young age who must increase in value like a painting in an art gallery. Great footballers rarely turn up for 10M, people have got wise, Chavski bought an 11 year old this week. Everyone is looking.
Stop accepting garbage as if we are idiots, let this be our rally point and accept the Glazers no more. The money from Rooney and Ronaldo must now go to rebuild and the Glazers need to have more about them that two texans did and accept it is time to sell.

Everything every one of you reds say or do needs to be focussed to change things. Accept things as they are and say hello to 1970 again.

Rooney will stay, he wants to be here for the rest of his career. . . . .

How deluded are you?? For a start he is a scouser who gets dogs abuse every time he comes back to the city, his missus too - one good reason to leave UTD !

Secondly - Once a Blue always a Blue. . . .do you really think he went to UTD and now loves them like he loved Everton. .you saw how he left Goodison when the cash came in.

He is looking at the club debt and the lack of investment post Ronaldo and Tevez and thinking - hey I can jump now whilst the contract is running down. . . . .the only decent thing is that he sees UTd may get a transfer fee from him before he buys himself out next summer

This move is about were he believes he will win things over the rest of his career. . . . . .and with the squad rebuilding and lack of funds at OT, he and anyone but a deluded Manc can see that he is better placed to win things either abroard or at Chelski, Eastlands or even Anfield.

""Well scratch the 50mil price tag. .just watching ssn and realised rooney can now buy out his contract so we get nothing.or am i wrong? So now Wat? CDS""

Its unlikely Rooney can use Websters ruling to get out of United, he qualifies in every way for the ruling apart from the fact that you have to give a decent reason for wanting to breach a contract, popular reasons are clubs not keeping up with your monthly wages, there has to be a minimum period of three successive months without pay to qualify, so its a pretty strict ruling.

So in other words the club would have had to have breached your rights somehow, the European specialist they had on SSN earlier said that even feuds between manager & player is not a good enough reason to breach a contract. So it looks like unless Rooney can prove the club has damaged him in some way, he will not qualify for Webster law.

But he does qualify in every other way.

Is that close to the mark Ed? {ed's note - yes mate, I remember someone saying, when Rooney changed agent, that this would be coming when his contract was next up for renewal. Rooney can talk all he wants about wanting to stay at United for life, but if he was a truly loyal type of person he would still be at Everton instead of forcing his way out.}

Ed Rooney was an Everton player from the age of 8 to 18, he had turned down chances to sign for Liverpool's youth system and United's to remain at Everton. When he was 18 Moyes wanted him to stay But kenright wanted to cash in on him. So a mixture of going to United and winning trophies and Kenright listening to offers from Newcastle his decision to leave was inevitable. Would you want to stay at a club when the chairman is listening to offers for you? {ed's note - not true - Kenwright told him it was up to him.}

Well, i feel Rooney will stay at United. He won't be paid the crazy £200 grand a week. We can not justify paying Rooney £200 grand a week when we paid Ronaldo, a former best player in the world and 6 awards in the same saeson £120 grand per week!

I think its down to Rooney's agent. His agent obviously wants to be paid a bumper fee too! I feel Rooney's heart is at United and the media have blown this all out of the water!

Rooney and Sir Alex have a good relationship, not like the media are saying. There is repect to each other and Alex always shows him support throughout his tim at Trafford, something Rooney will not get at any club! the situation is like any. If your job wants you to sign a 5 year contract to stay, you must make sure its worth it and be happy. i feel Rooney is trying to do that. to ensure he is happy from the start! However, the amout asked is far too high, especially with his current form!

With regards to money to buy players at United. I STRONGLY believe that money is set aside for Jose to take over! This is why we are buying average players that don't cost the price of a medium sized Island!

There are many silly conspiracy theories but what do you think is truly going on & what do you think will be the final outcome? {ed's note - I think Rooney is being badly advised and extremely greedy. He is doing an Ashley Cole, and that will mean either he gets ludicrous amounts of money or he moves to a club that will give him it.}

Totally agree Ed, i do not believe any of the Glazers forcing him out nonsense, i have never heard of anything so stupid in all of my life, I believe his agent is after a huge contract for Wayne or what i think he really wants is 10% of a massive Wayne Rooney to City 60m fee.

Is that close to the mark Ed? {ed's note - yes mate, I remember someone saying, when Rooney changed agent, that this would be coming when his contract was next up for renewal. Rooney can talk all he wants about wanting to stay at United for life, but if he was a truly loyal type of person he would still be at Everton instead of forcing his way out.}

Now this is just a theory and up for discussion (except that balloon Blaire who should just stop stalking this page). It strikes me that Rooney's agent Paul Stretford is playing a very dangerous game and he is using the british media to do it. In August this year City approached stretford and told him they would be willing to pay Rooney 250,000 per week. Rooney at that time wasn't interested but was not happy with Uniteds reluctance to sign him up at the £160,000 per week he wanted. Stretford is now letting a lot of stories leek to the press about Rooney leaving in order to get the best deal he can from United. It could work for him and they could give him what he wants when he is not playing that well and his private life is in a mess. Or it could back fire and he could end up at the council house getting paid a lot of money but very unhappy. It is a well known fact that United have been sniffing around torres (without any incouragement from him) and maybe Fergie is looking for an instant replacement that would pacify the supporters. Please please lets not have any balloons coming on saying we have players in the reserves who could step up as that is obviously not the case. These are worrying times for United and Rooney and it is just a case of who will crack first. RAINFISHTROMBONE

@I hear United have only offered him 120k a week, that is the most they would pay CR7, i cannot see United budging, can you Rainfish?

""Well since many believe that seagull did have genuine info.
One question for seagull-Do you have any info about the wayne rooney stuff.?
Waiting 4 your reply.
Som""

@You would seriously take the word of Seagull? The same Seagull which said United tried to sign Xavi?

~A 31 year old Spaniard
~Never tested in the Premiership
~Who suffers with Tendinitis
~who is five years older than the Glazers 26 years old rule
~Arguably Barca's most important player
~Would never leave Barca himself
~Signed a new five year deal in the summer

Probably one of the most ridiculous rumours of this century, and it came from Seagull & his so called sources.

This is not a rumour, just an opinion. I don't think Rooney will be going anywhere just the same as I did not think Vidic was. Its all a self created MANU media circus to take the heat off Rooneys personal problems and the fact we are in debt. Eventually he will come out and sign a new 5 year deal stating his love for the club. This will mask yet another transfer window where no big signings have been made. The club will look good to most fans as it has kept its biggest asset.
