one of tabloids, i think its the mirror are apparently releasing an exclusive story on the 2nd of august that a 30mil offer has been accepted by inter milan

anyone know of any truth in this?

Believable15 Unbelievable3

Heard that alright it says it's just down to wages... Now just to get Joey Barton lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I went on the Mirror site and they've taken the info off

Agree0 Disagree0

Ya, just heard it on the the radio aswell, I assume they've picked it from the mirror aswell though... good news if its accurate

Agree0 Disagree0

That was on bbc gossip earlier on and it's been removed now, the link lead to a dead end

Agree0 Disagree0

There is truth in that there is a story stating this in the Mirror, whether there is any truth to the Mirror story is another thing

The Mirror said they had 2 Manchester United exclusives, fee agreed with Inter for Sneijder for £30 million, which they accepted at the weekend (further stating Inter had considered a deal consisting of Berba and cash, but would prefer the cash up front, and possibly bid for Berba separately), supposedly terms to be discussed with Sneijder during the week, with United hoping he accepts a smaller basic wage topped up with bonuses, incentives and a larger signing on fee spread over the length of his contract so as not to break their wage structure. Goes on to say how they hope to have the deal completed and Sneijder training with the club before the league campaign starts.

And then the 2nd story being a PSG bid of £18+ million for Berbatov

I'm not verifying that I've heard that these stories are true, just stating what the Mirror are reporting

The Neviller

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, have you heard anything about these supposed moves from any of your contacts, or just tabloid nonsense as usual?

The Neviller {Ed007's Note - I have said before about the teams interested in Berbatov. Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, PSG and Valencia. I fail to see where the "exclusive" part of the Sneijder story comes from though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get it either Ed, both these "exclusives" just sound like rehashes of stories we'd already heard before. The only part even close to exclusive is the suggestion that Inter have accepted a £30million United bid

The Neviller {Ed007's Note - The fee was never in question as far as I know, Utd and Malaga had agreed to met the fee, it was his wages that were a stumbling block. I also personally think that maybe he was due a loyalty bonus from Inter, hence the stand off. If Inter put him up for sale he would have been entitled to the bonus but if he requested a transfer the bonus payment would have been void.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember you mentioning the fee and both United and Malaga willing to pay the desired amount a while back Ed, but I'm guessing Mirrors supposed scoop is that a fee was agreed with United at the weekend just passed, rather than both clubs prepared to meet it? I'll believe it when I see him wearing the shirt holding a scarf though

The Neviller

Agree0 Disagree0

Was it not the mirror that had the exclusive that Jones was coming to united

Agree0 Disagree0

The Mirror did have the Jones story...very correct The Sun (which is very very poor at their exclusives) said he was off to 'pool. And look where he ended up? I don't think it was in any question as to whether he came to us or not (same with Young).
I think Wez Snez will end up at Utd after the Charity Shield (I still refuse to say Community...), before the first game and make his debut at home in the second.

Agree0 Disagree0

As for Berba, I'd take £18m for him even though I like him as a Utd player.

Agree0 Disagree0

There letting him play the super cup final then he is ours happy days 20

Berba off to PSG for 18 mil. sneijder in for 30 mil. Good business. I think welbeck and machedavshould have their chance. Doyley

Believable24 Unbelievable12

I think on this one specially we have to trust on sir alex after all every one can change but personally i dont think that happen {Ed007's Note - He hasn't changed. It would be a complete disgrace if he ever pulled on a Utd shirt.}

Liverpool 2-0 down with their new players. A**m, Downing, Henderson, Carroll. QUALITY SIGNINGS Lfc and Blair.

Believable17 Unbelievable4

Judging by the hours of contemplating about Liverpool I take it as a compliment; why worry and follow their every move unless you are very scared, I mean if you look at other sites they don't talk about Man Utd but all of them talk about Liverpool acceptance that they are rising from the ashes? or just scared and deluded fans?

If you worried about Uniteds own issues like your top scorer being injured, you player of the season leaving for an Italian club or the 21 year old who has a huge leap to the premiership; he is gonna be great considering he conceded the most goals from outside the box in the La Liga last season for a top 8 club, he must be so great that he can't judge a long shot. Take that in mind rather than obsessing about other clubs.

Surely as favourites for the title, new signings and the backing of your fearsome rivals owner you still shake in your boots and obsess over friendly results.

I presume you are a Man Utd fan who thinks your better than Barcalona because you beat their B team with your main team; even then you got lucky.

I am a Pool fan and it makes me smile to see fear in your eyes for the next season, after all we were 2-0 down to a Norwegian team with our main team; in their first start of pre-season.

See you in October ;)

In all fairness to Joey Barton I doubt we are looking for him but he be a nice piece of business for anyone who does sign him let's face it we could do worse

Believable11 Unbelievable9

01 Aug 2011 17:30:11
I for one think Barton would be a decent signing. Someone with a bit of nastiness in midfield. United haven't had that in a long time and it could be just what we need.
Matt

Believable7 Unbelievable15

I agree he would be a good signing, for Tranmere, Bury or Rochdale.
Seriously, do we really need such a disruptive influence with so many young players now in the squad and especially with a player like Ravel Morrison and all his
personal problems, needing the correct guidance from senior players.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2011 16:06:44
Barton is a good player but I hope we are not thinking of signing him, we need to be looking at players in the middle that are better then we already have.

Believable13 Unbelievable4

Take away the baggage but the guys better than gibson and carrick[past 12months]
any day

Agree0 Disagree0

On his day he's better than two of our midfielders, not mentioning any names.

I don't like him but he is a very decent midfielder.
I don't think we should employ criminals though.

Maybe if it was a single offence but he takes the biscuit.

Agree0 Disagree0

On a free? Mmmm maybe, just maybe. IMHO hes as good if not better than both Scott Parker and C*****e A**m. Its just the baggage that puts people off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Better than Gibson.....yes. Better than Fletcher....probably. Better than Carrick.....probably. Remember that if Barton did not have the past that he has then getting him on a freebie would be a great bit of business....so why not

Agree0 Disagree0

We employ Ravel Morrison who is a serial offender, so no need to get all sniffy and justice of the peace about him. It is purely whether he will make Manchester United have a stronger or weaker squad. I think he's worth a try for a couple of seasons

Breaking news: Joey Barton has been placed on the transfer market by Newcastle United and he is available on a free transfer.

Putting all the trouble in life outside of football to one side. Joey Barton is a good midfielder. Can anyone see United getting him like they did with Owen just because of him being available on a free transfer?

Believable9 Unbelievable16

01 Aug 2011 15:46:14
Barton on a free would be a great bit of business in my opininon?

Believable9 Unbelievable15

As a back up DM for free would be a good addition still need a AM though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah cause bartons gonna solve all uniteds problems in midfield - sort it if united get Barton will be the laughing stock.. Imagine a city reject sig ing for united - never

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact that you have a question mark after your sentence is no typo.
It's your inner-self telling you that someone like him could never play for United.

I agree that he's a handy player though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Instead of having 11 players on the pitch loosing ... we will have 10 players and barton sent off with UTD being demolished ... FACT

Rumours are surfacing that Joey Barton is leaving the Barcodes on a free transfer. Oh God, Fergie is surely not ...................

Juan Mata's move to Arsenal has apparently broken down. Fergie - get in there; just the type of player we need.

Mike B. {Ed007's Note - As of 1st of August (today) a condition in his contract pushed his buy out clause up to 60 million (Euros I think).

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Why would you need Mata when you already have 5 wingers wouldnt the money be better off buying a CM where you lack and real quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 - is it true that Chelsea's bids for Modric were not £22m & £25m, but were in fact bids of £30m & £33m?

Do you believe the next bid will be £35m take it or leave it? And are you expecting either United or City to come in to rival the accepted bid?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I have no idea Syd, I would need to ask and am not going to do that. Why the continued obsession with money?}

Ed is it true Juventus have bid 15 mill for Nani ??

What an embarrassment of a bid if it is indeed true.

Red Knight. {Ed007's Note - The rumour about Nani going to Juventus has been around for a while, as for the story about a bid, I don't know how true that is but surely he is worth more than that.}

Believable1 Unbelievable8

15 million that will buy his right leg into days market

Ross

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a joke....Henderson downing 20 mill ??
Nani should be in the same price bracket IMO as Sneijder and Sanchez

Red Knight.

Agree0 Disagree0

This isn't new news lads, they met with the United hierarchy weeks ago and made a silly offer and they were told where to go. They will need to double their bid for United to even consider a move. I am not sure Nani is for sale any longer, but Ed002 who is far more clued up than I am believes he could still be on his way.

I am not too sure for a couple of reasons, I cannot see United letting him go for any less than £30m, and I cannot see Juventus or Valencia meeting this valuation. I expect and hope that Nani is still a United player next season. We will need him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

If true, a bid of £15m for Nani does not even merit a reply. He must be worth about double that, plus or minus a bit.

Mike B. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps double plus or minus £15M.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 - your figure gives price range of £15m to £45m. I would suggest that he is worth at least £25m and perhaps up to £35m. So, I would rule out the bottom £10m of your range. If someone were to (very improbably) offer £45m I think we should take it.
Mike B. {Ed002's Note - I was kidding. I have no idea why the MU fans are so overcome with discussing money all of the time. Nani could be used as a makeweight for a deal for a midfielder or could be sold to Juventus if they are still interested.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Young came to us for £15.8m with one year left on his contract. The price for Nasri, if he is to move this transfer window, is £20-£25m, which implies he could cost £30-35m at least if he had 2 or 3 seasons left. Nani is far better then Young and better then Nasri. I think he is worth £28m-£35m. Nani and Rooney are our best attacking players by a distance and will remain so even if the overly expensive Dutchman arrives.

Manchester United have confirmed winger Antonio Valencia has signed a new four-year contract with the Premier League champions.

Red Devils chief executive David Gill revealed over the weekend that the Ecuador international had agreed an extension and the deal has now been signed.

"I am delighted to stay at United, " Valencia told the club's official website.

"Since my first day at Carrington, I have been happy here. I hope that I can continue to develop as a player.

"I am looking forward to making my contribution to helping this squad compete for more trophies."

Just wondering if anybody knows any more about thisa story:

"Manchester United will be ready when Sir Alex Ferguson eventually stands down as manager, according to chief executive David Gill, although he is unclear on when that might be.
Full story: The Guardian"

Believable6 Unbelievable5

I think it means that when Fergie decides to retire , though the date of when that will be remains unknown , Utd will be ready to replace him with another manager. I could be wrong as it is such a difficult statement to decipher but , reading between the lines , i would definately think that is what it means

Agree0 Disagree0

I read the article a couple of days ago and to be honest it was a waste of time. Gill pretty much said that United will be ready for when Sir Alex retires. Well duh. Of course they're going to be ready for when he retires.

Matthew...

Agree0 Disagree0

There is only one man that could possiable replace SAF and that is the special one

Brilliant insights here. Thank you.

When SAF goes, MUFC will appoint a new
manager.

Extraordinary scoop

2 men, I think guardiola is a top top manager

Jose mourinio will not become our manager because he dosent spend much time developing the youth or buying youngsters true he has bought a few last season only coz he wants the utd job the man 2 replace alex will be david moyes or laurent blanc dont mind either both will do great at utd

Everyone's thoughts on Joao Moutinho?
Eds, Sydney?

tbir

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Great player for Sporting Lisbon and Porto in the Portuguese league. He is only young and has yet to reach his peak. I reckon we could get him for around 25 million euro's. Would be a great signing in my view.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you very good player. we should have got him before porto did. only problem is he might join avb at chelski.

reddevilunder

Agree0 Disagree0

Only two player I'd hope we'd sign this season are Moutinho and Modric Both fantastic on ball, low centre of gravity making them hard shake off, plays holding with so much creativity and which we clearly missed if we are to be Champion of Europe and premier league. Moutinho will b cheaper than Modric and younger, with sweet and powerful right foot and already has played with Ando and Nani Or else lets hope we have someone like Wilshere in our youth in likes of Pogba, Morrison, Tunnclife(spelling). Only time can tell

Agree0 Disagree0

If I'm not mistaken (and I'll be the first to step forward if I am wrong) but I believe he signed for Porto just last season for around 30 million as a replacement for Raul Mereiles (spelling). So I doubt they will let him go unless a ridiculous offer was put forward. They did reject a bid of 80million euros for Hulk so it's not as if they are reasonable in their valuations of their players

It's all over the news that inter have received a bid from a club. Not definite to be united though Hope it is, fingers crossed

I doubt this is true. If it is just watch Fergie deny it.

Will someone please organise Gibson & 5 million to Wigan for McCarthy. Jesus {Ed007's Note - McCarthys contract talks with Wigan have stalled apparently.}

Believable18 Unbelievable1

Ed007, i heard this friday night but couldnt get online to post. rumour is he wants to move to bigger club..

jenny {Ed007's Note - He has been linked with LFC, Arsenal and Chelsea. I don't know if Utd have expressed any interest. The figure being bandied about is £15 million, his original club Hamilton Accies are due a percentage of any transfer fee to take the total they receive to £3 million, which is a massive amount for the club.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Great idea and add M'vila or Sissoko as a ball winner, it would cost another £10m tops. If we are greedy we could add Marvin martin too for £10-£15m. 3 young excellent players for the same as WS. The combined wages would be £120,000 -£150,000
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed007, thats a huge amount of money for Hamilton. I know of liverpool's interest, as family members support them sadly.. but after henderson was bought that seemed to cool..

i would love united to get him.

jenny {Ed007's Note - I agree with you Jenny, I have bored everyone on here to tears going on about him for months.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Moussa Sissoko is Liverpool bound, he is the ideal Liverpool replacement and the clubs have agreed a fee but the deal will go through January or next Summer; dependant on Stevie G's injury, This is very reliable info from the agent of Sissoko

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has confirmed he will meet Sir Alex Ferguson to talk about strengthening the squad.

The Red Devils have already been active in the market this summer, signing Phil Jones, David de Gea and Ashley Young, but Gill recently admitted he was targeting one more 'world-class' player.

Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder continues to be linked with a switch to Old Trafford despite Ferguson dismissing reports over the weekend.

Gill has refused to confirm the identity of individual targets but says he will be holding discussions with the manager this week after returning from a pre-season tour of the USA.

"When we get back from tour, we will be in the office and we will sit down and assess it with Sir Alex and his coaches, " said Gill.

"I don't want to talk about specifics, but it's clear to say that in order to get into the United team you have to be a top-class player."
