Gundogan has signed a new deal at Dortmund. They said only 1 player is leaving originally, is it still possible Hummels wants out eds? Thanks in advance

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed004's Note - He could still leave but I reckon he will stay}

01 Jul 2015 23:45:18
2 years is a short contract. It could be to extract a larger fee from a purchasing club

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 00:53:52
He's probably waiting for Barcelona to come calling next summer.

Agree8 Disagree1

02 Jul 2015 07:37:28
Agree with sparky

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 09:08:22
It's not really a two year contract rather a one year extension to the one year he had remaining.

I know people will say it doesn't make a difference but it does, his extension doesn't include a pay rise, which would indicate that Dortmund are more worried about getting a large fee and Gundogan know's he needs a good season to prove his worth and to get the move to the club he wants and the pay rise that will come with it.

From what I've heard Bayern and Barca were both interested but not at the price Dortmund wanted and were not willing to offer the wages Gundogan wanted as they felt it was a bit of a gamble to sign him.

This way he gets a chance to prove himself and win himself the move he wants, and Dortmund get to protect their asset value in the player and means that Tuchel doesn't have too much disruption with the squad. It's probably the best deal for all involved.

if i wants a move to bayern or barce he will have to find some form .
he has beem average really

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 09:59:52
What makes you think he didn't get a pay rise Shappy? That's pretty a absurd statment to me.

Agree1 Disagree7

02 Jul 2015 10:09:36
I'm not saying he definitely didn't get a pay rise, but from what I've heard he didn't. It's just a extension of his current terms for an extra year.

Agree4 Disagree1

02 Jul 2015 10:33:50
No way he had plenty of options he would have got some big fat payment mate. I'm sure of it.

Agree0 Disagree8

02 Jul 2015 11:15:22
Apparently not, it was his wage demands that scared off the interest in him. He is a shadow of the player he was, If he want's the higher wages he desires he will have to prove he's worth it first.

Agree5 Disagree5

02 Jul 2015 14:03:23
So heaps of major clubs are chasing him and willing to offer him a big pot of cash and he suddenly decides against earning more money?

'No I will stick to my current deal even though negotiations have went on for months and even if it is much less than what I could get elsewhere' said no 24 year old ever.

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 15:33:08
Lots of big clubs were interested in him but apparently his preference was Barca. This extra year will let him stay at Dortmund for another 6 months or a year and then allow Dortmund to receive a fee for him when Barca are able to register players in January or next summer.

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Saidy Janko from Manchester United on a four year contract, subject to receiving satisfactory medical results which should be with the Club tomorrow morning.

Good day for you Ed.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 19:42:40
Hope it works out well for Celtic and Janko.
I thought Janko was well thought of by the club and it seems strange to let him leave permanently.

Let's hope Janko's leaving is because we have a much better prospect already with us (Varela?) or we have a better player coming in.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 19:32:49
Ed007 think celtic have got a good player in janko, bit raw still but plenty of potential. Hows about van dijk heading to old trafford to continue his development ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He won't be going anywhere until after the CL qualifiers.}

02 Jul 2015 21:43:24
Does his exit depend on how the qualifiers go ed? Appreciate this is not related to united as haven't seen us linked but asking as always watched out for celtic redults due to my dad (man utd fan) going on and on about jinky johnson who he saw often when worked up there (he apparently was comparable with best).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Your dad has good taste, you should probably listen to him more :) I think VVD will be away from Celtic once the CL qualifiers are done whether we qualify or not, if we do that'll be our slim chance of getting him to stay depending who is in for him.
Utd have an interest but they see him as a squad player and he won't move to sit on the bench so it never really went anywhere which surprised me as LvG spoke to van Dijk before the World Cup and told him how highly he thought of him and that his chance would come. Arsenal and Southampton were the favourites but Arsenal's interest has waned and although clubs like Norwich and Sunderland have been linked I'd say Southampton would be most likely, the clubs have a good relationship after a few deals in recent years that have been beneficial to both clubs.
There was a murmur in Scotland that Man City were interested but I think that was just because of Celtic and Deila's connections with City just now and it made a good headline on a slow day.}

03 Jul 2015 08:47:45
Cheers for the update ed and i would say good luck to celtic for the new season but don't think they need it. At least you can enjoy the farcical sideshow from the blue mob and see how embarrasing it gets this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate. We've bigger fish to fry this year - we need to make the CL group stages. The comedy show at Ibrox will always be there for $hi1ts and giggles.}

01 Jul 2015 10:44:38
Can any Ed00 in the house be so kind to inform me whether we are looking at Thomas Muller as an alternative to Benzema.

Much appreciated.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed004's Note - Muller will not be leaving Bayern this summer IMO}

01 Jul 2015 16:46:29

01 Jul 2015 09:44:30
With the transfer window now in full swing, do you expect any deals or bids happening this week eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Hopefully}

01 Jul 2015 12:09:53
According to german media we've bidded for Mueller today, can't see it being true myself. He has no reason to leave Bayern bar a spat with Pep and Pep is more dispensable than Mr Bayern himself. However if it is true then my god what a player, imo very underrated and he's up there with the best strikers in the world.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

01 Jul 2015 12:28:10
Also early June didn't he come out and say how good his relationship is with LvG?
We definitely need another forward, as I believe RVP will leave and with Falcao and Chicharito both out. I think the media are desperate for anything to sell papers, so far we have been close to signing Cavani, Benzema, Lacazette, Muller. Throw enough sh*t and eventually something sticks and they can say "you heard it here first"

Agree1 Disagree2

01 Jul 2015 12:31:05
Bayern are a really funny club to do business with, especially with their German players it would seem.

I can't see the sense in chasing players who do not want to leave, or have no real desire too.

Agree3 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 12:37:58
Don't think it will happen and i believe he said he was honoured to be linked with United but he has no reason to leave Bayern.

Agree2 Disagree1

01 Jul 2015 13:13:38
I don't think we would bid for a player unless there was something from them or their agent that there would be interest in joining. As he doesn't want to leave I think we can file this under bs.

Agree3 Disagree2

01 Jul 2015 13:17:21
Weren't we suppose to have offered a huge amount of money to him last year and he was quoted as saying no because Bayern was his club and a change was not an issue for him. I don't see that being any different this year, so a bid for him would seem nonsensical.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 14:20:54
Rather we wrapped up Scneiderlin than chasing players we have absolutely no chance of getting

Agree3 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 15:08:02
Totally agree RA94 this is fantasy football LVG and WOODY is playing trying to sign muller ramos schweinsteiger these players are never going to leave were they say they want the signings in for the tour get schneiderlin in the door the no 6 is by far our priority so get it done were actually covered everywhere else

Agree5 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 16:07:04
Nach73 - Who says we were after Schweinsteiger? Papers? Rumours? At the end of the day they mean nothing.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 18:08:04
they should get schneiderlin in and stop messing about, if they wanted him why do they bid knowing his price under then leave it? Sort it out then work on other targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2015 01:01:25
Nach73 agree Schneiderlin but just as much we need a cb and otamendi looks like he is available and will be done after copa america we hope.

Apparently we've made a bid for Thomas Muller. Wouldn't say no to him being our main striker next season!

Believable2 Unbelievable4

01 Jul 2015 11:08:14
Various papers reporting that Ashley Young has signed a 3 year contract extension worth 120k . If it is true then i would be shocked . Yes he had a good season but 120 for an average player nearing his thirties is ridiculous . May be 70k would be good for him to sign extension

Believable7 Unbelievable0

01 Jul 2015 11:14:08
Think he was on £120k anyway, would be harsh to reduce his wages after his performances last two seasons

Agree6 Disagree2

01 Jul 2015 11:27:20
RedAndy, does his performances from last season warrant 120k in the current era of finances in football?

120k a week would normally be given to players who carry teams, perform consistently and provide world class attributes to the team.

Young was a good player in a mediocre bunch last season. He seriously can't be expecting the same contract he is currently on, especially after the last few seasons (ignoring last season).

I would expect his new contract to include a wage reduction.

Agree2 Disagree1

01 Jul 2015 11:40:21
He was one our best players and earned his wages whatever they are, which is not the case for quite a few on the current team including the so called super stars. Glad he is staying and healthy young is very good player and very useful whether as a starter or someone that comes on later in the game.

Agree6 Disagree1

01 Jul 2015 11:59:15
I don't think he earned his waged GCU . For most part of his United career he was nothing more than squad player . 120k at that time was 3 times more than he deserved . Just because he had one good season does not guarantee he will perform at the same level for next couple of years . Further who among us have him in our starting XI next season ? Only few I guess . So 120 k for a thirty year old winger who maybe will only be a squad player is ridiculous .

Agree4 Disagree1

01 Jul 2015 12:00:31
So Mr Weggy why do you think Young doesn't deserve his hard earned cash? Is it because he isn't a flash name? Does that mean that Di Maria (the highest paid player in PL history) should have his wages reduced after that showing last season?

It's like Felliani all over again. Some players work their nuts off and can't get a break from some people.

RAMOS RAMOS RAMOS RAMOS. I'm sure that shiney new toy will keep you amused for a while Weggy if it were to happen (which it wont!).

Agree4 Disagree1

01 Jul 2015 12:06:26
Weggy - After this comment - "120k a week would normally be given to players who carry teams, perform consistently and provide world class attributes to the team."

I would love to know your views on ADM and in particular Rooney and RVP over the past 2 seasons as they are on more than double that!

£120k is probably average going for a Utd player now of his experience and age. No way worth it in my mind, but his last big deal and being English are key aspects, not to mention his versatility. At Stoke he wouldn't be on half that and frankly that is the level he should be at - good luck to him though, we made a rod for our own back.

Any player we sign in the future knows we are willing to pay almost double market value in wages - welcome to the mercenary club!

Agree5 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 12:17:46
If anything I think it's a great shame he earned less than half what di maria and falcao earned last season. So what if he's not a big name, he was one of our best most consistent performers last season so therefore he deserves one of the highest wages. And our wage bill is ridiculously high anyway, £120k is far from being one of our top earners, I'm sure Phil jones and Luke shaw earn around the same, what have they done to warrant that wage?

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 13:22:46
So irrespective of other earners . does young deserve the same wage ? Most of our players are on 60-90k on wages apart from those shiny names . Young has been playing poor for most of his united career and then a season of good display (not amazing though) does not warrant him high wages . It will make just hard to offload him if he cannot continue his form on future due to his high wages

Red Rosie - so we are now negative because we are saying players like Young deserve to be rewarded after a good season? Ok mate.

With sky currently suggesting a deal for schneiderlin isn't being negotiated, after saying yesterday we were in talks, can any if the eds (ed001 perhaps?) clear this up? (I have searched united arsenal and Southampton sites for any updates)

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know what is happening with him, sorry. Southampton are very good at keeping things quiet their end. However, there is also nothing coming out from the United end regarding negotiations with Saints either, which suggests it is not ongoing right now. There is interest, but there is also interest from other clubs. Schneiderlin himself has been clear that he won't be joining a team outside the Champions League, which rules out a lot of the interest. Man Utd and Arsenal are the two in England that want him, that are in the Champions League, the price Southampton are looking for has been made known, but neither have made an offer yet. Until someone does make an offer, nothing is likely to happen, though he is looking to move, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some pushing from his end to get an offer going in for him.}

01 Jul 2015 08:04:38
nice one ed!

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 10:57:19
Ed001

What do you make of some of the reports that we have made a bid about week to 10 days ago and if you read what Koeman said, it could be construed that our bid falls well short of their valuation for the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was not a bid, you asked the price, Southampton named it and you said that you would only be willing to offer a much lower amount. It was an informal chat rather than a bid, but calling it a bid brings in clicks to websites as it sounds more exciting.}

01 Jul 2015 17:28:56
Well at least we know what's needed to be done I guess that means a transfer could be wrapped up quickly if we decide to go ahead. I read an article by andy mitten who tends to be reliable united wise saying Southampton expect us to get the deal done
