{Ed002's Note - It is not so much strainge as, perhaps like a child's painting, naive.}

@What's naive Ed? It's a serious question.

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - It is naive to think it is as simple as just going out and buying the players listed. It simply doesn't work that way.}

@Ed, I did say that in my last post, I said "Obviously not the exact same players".

But do you think the idea is likely? One last big spend? Isn't that what Chelsea are also doing?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - The clubs only need to spend what it takes to refresh the squad. The big plan is to buy young Brazilians and eventually have the entire Brazilian national team as home grown players.}

''Positive note - app meeting with Sanchez's people
on Friday went very well and deal expected to be
announced very early on in the Transfer window.''

The meeting with United officials was on saturday morning wasnt it?. .and yes i know it went very well. the player wants to join United and SAF wants the player. so the deal should go through as early as possilble.
also Cavani to United if Berbatov decides against signing a contract extension.
Second 'red' Comrade

mate, how do you know this?! I don't even think we'll sign him in the slightest.

Why would we buy another winger if we have park, nani, Valencia and now Cleverly? I'd assume we'll sell one of them?

Ed/ syd, who are you aware of that we have agreed deals that won't be confirmed until the start of summer?

{Ed002's Note - There may be a youngster or two - Syd may know who. For Sanchez, refer to my earlier comment about needing to reach agreement with Udinese over a fee.}

Sod it, lets buy Neuer, Modric, Rodwell, Varane, Izaguirre & Sanchez and sell Berbatov, Evra, Gibson, Obertan, Macheda, Diouf, Drinkwater, Kuszczak, Corry Evans, Brown, De Laet & Dudgeon.

Lets spend £50m net on these guys. Wages won't be a problem seems VDS, Scholes, Giggs, Owen, Hargreaves & the the above outgoing players wages will be gone. (Giggs in 2012) Rodwell, Varane & Izaguirre will be on low wages anyway. Offer Sanchez, Neuer & Modric wages of 100k plus a week each to sign for us.

Cannot see the Glazers spending £50m net, but they won't have to spend much again for many years. We could just rely on the youth coming through and buying in cheapish 16 year old south Americans to send to Twente and of course finding little gems like Hernandez.

Ed, do you think this is a strange view or do you think this is a possible plan? Not the exact players of course.

Sydney!

To the Eds mainly Ed002 is it likely that Sahin will be signing for Real Madrid this summer as I believe he could do a lot for us this next season in midfield
The Red Manc {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have shown general interest in Sahin as have Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have made a formal approach but no formal offer. Interest from Inter Milan and AC Milan is waning. Surprisingly there is reported interest from Aston Villa as well. He will be moving on this summer and Ilkay Gundogan of Nuremberg has been lined up as his replacement. The price quoted for the player is 20M euro. So there is a chance for clubs to step in and make a bid. It is anyone's guess where he will end up, but I suspect it will not be Aston Villa. There is no known interest from Manchester United at present.}

{Ed002's Note - Without dropping in to any bizarre "what if" scenarios you need to remember that Giampaolo Pozzo can easily change his mind about selling the player at all. Also keep in mind that Udinese are both ambitious and wealthy and will not sell players cheap. As for holding players to ransom, I see no reason why not. They could even send him out on loan with many of the enormous squad of folks they have done so with - many are part ownership deals as well. Whilst it will be interesting to see what happens, I fear that there will be nothing concluded in the short term. Very significant lessons can be gleaned from January where Chelsea had already agreed a fee with Udinese.}

@I see what you mean, if that scenario was to happen then Udinese could just pull the plug and take him off the transfer list. Ed can I ask what the Chelsea agreed fee was?

Oh I also agree with what you think about Morata, he is bound to go out on loan like Negredo did, but could he be sold on with a buy-back clause? Or could he be used as a makeweight to sign a player that Real wants?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - In my experiuence "buy back" clauses are very rare indeed. A loan is much more likely. I do not know the exact fee agreed in January but it was supposedly in the region of 30M euro. I would not use that as a guide as Pozzo also suggested he was worth 70M euro at one time.}

@His agent has been talking to the club mate, but it reached a stalemate, his contract ends in 2012 just like Fletcher's, Evra's, Anderson's etc did before they were given new contracts in the past few months. Berbatov does not have a leg to stand on because there is a clause in his contract that says United can extend his deal by one year and neither him nor his agent can prevent it from happening. This means he cannot leave for cheap in the summer and he cannot wind down his contract to leave for free.

Pretty clever from the Glazers I think you would agree? But I am with you, he will be sold this summer. We did ask about Morata's availability during January didn't we? So I wouldn't rule out another move for him, especially if Real Madrid bring in Llorente.

Sydney! {Ed004's Note - I have never seen Morata play, is he any good, what style of striker is he like}

@Funny enough, he reminds me of Llorente, but much more raw. Has massive potential though.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Tough to see Morata being sold - a loan withing Spain seems much more likely.}

{Ed002's Note - You seem to be forgetting that none of the discussions with the player's representatives are anything to do with a transfer fee at all. That would need to be subsequently agreed with Udinese. I think you may be seeing this as an all to easy deal to conclude.}

@Not at all mate, I don't think this deal will be easy for anyone to complete. What I was asking you was, say Sanchez tells Udinese he wants to go to say Inter Milan and that he is not interested in going anywhere else, would that mean that Inter hold all of the cards and may not have to pay as much as say, City?

It's a question Ed, just say he wants Inter and only Inter, but City offer £10m more than Inter, could he still end-up at Inter because that is where HE wants to go. Surely Udinese cannot force him to join City because they have offered Udinese the most? That's what I mean mate, I am confused.

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - Without dropping in to any bizarre "what if" scenarios you need to remember that Giampaolo Pozzo can easily change his mind about selling the player at all. "It will certainly be a long ride, but apparently City were minutes from sealing the deal before United intervened. So surely if United were to offer what City offered, wouldn't that be enough for Udinese? The reported fee was £26m, but that is speculation of course.

It's a strange one because City & Chelsea have the money, although you have said that Chelsea will not be held to ransom, Inter & Juventus have the joint ownership advantages and good weather, Barcelona have the current Xfactor & have the weather. But United are the team he supported as a child, the team he has been harping on about for the past six years. And United probably would go to £25m for him. Although I feel it maybe a bit too much for a potential gamble.

Sydney!"

This Sanchez rumour reminds me of the Balotelli rumours last season. It's probably just a way for Udinese to get more money from City.

"{Ed002's Note - Manchester United is certainly trying to put a case for Sanchez as permission is there to talk to his agents - as Chelsea did in January and as Juventus, Inter and Manchester City has done recently. Roma wait in the wings to do teh same. I would suggest that this story has some way to run, but the player will be interested in moving to Old Trafford above manchester City.}"

@Ed, but do you believe he would pick United over everybody else as well as City? I wouldn't want to go any higher than £25m, I think his size could still be a concern for the EPL. I think we would try and get him smitten to join us and then use that as a way of getting him a bit cheaper.

If he is dead keen on joining us, but City offer £10m more, would we still be in the driving seat Ed? How does it work?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I think there is a long way to go. I think his fee will get higher and either Manchester City or perhaps Inter may be best placed. Udinese are not going to sell him cheap because ghe wants to go to Manchester United. You may recall the major difficulties Chelsea had negotiationg with Udinese in Monaco during January.}

"Doyley - Nani has another 3 years left on his contract. I doubt he will be sold. Anyway United won't get themselves bogged down in a bidding war for Sanchez with City and Chelsea.

Danny Pughnited"

@Surely, if Sanchez was to rule out a move to others and only wanted the United move, wouldn't that leave Udinese slightly powerless to keep the bidding going & us in the driving seat to get him at a lower offer than others are offering?

Surely convincing the player will have the edge and not offering the most money? Ed?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - Udinese don't need to sell. They may be interested in a part ownership deal to let him go which will remove the English clubs from the equation.}

Apparently we are trying to sign Sanchez away from City. Not sure if this is a lazy journo story, but in the telegraph, you are usually fairly reliable. Does this mean Nani might be leaving? Both Nani and Berbatov have 12 month left on thier contract, do will they be moved on?

Syd/ ed/ gan, what do you know? I get the feeling SAF has seen how well we play with pace, and wants more creativity. I could see us signing modric, rodwell, and Sanchez if the stories are true and I'd be very happy with that and of course de gea. I don't see Young at United. Not good enough.

Maybe this line up?

De gea
rafael vidic Ferdinand evra
Valencia fletcher/ carrick modric sanchez
Rooney
hernandez

Doyley {Ed004's Note - I doubt Nani will leave but both Ed001 and myself rate Sanchez highly and would love to see him in the Premiership next year.}

@Nani signed a 4 year contract in march 2010

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United is certainly trying to put a case for Sanchez as permission is there to talk to his agents - as Chelsea did in January and as Juventus, Inter and Manchester City has done recently. Roma wait in the wings to do teh same. I would suggest that this story has some way to run, but the player will be interested in moving to Old Trafford above manchester City.}

Player exchanges are uncommon in the game but i've just heard that there could be a lot of activity between Man Utd and Tottenham this summer. Bale, Modric in exchange for Wes Brown, Mame Diouf and cash? Gibson for Phil Jones and cash? Owen to Sunderland at the end of season?
