TV Italia saying we are getting Romero before the deadline. Looks like lindegard is going.

Here's something interesting and makes sense. Supposedly the reason for Falcao flight been delayed is that they landed in Italy on there way back! TV news reported woody was in Italy earlier today! Was Vidal being picked up? Was Vidal in the car? Is Vidal in carrington?

Believable16 Unbelievable34

Nice logic Benni. however I think the answer is no and no!

Agree2 Disagree1

1 final twist in the tale.
I like ya thinking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ahaha. Brilliant rumour. Unfortunately Vidal is in the US with the Chile squad.

Agree1 Disagree0

We can live in hope mate!! We really need someone like him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best rumour of the night!!

Agree1 Disagree0

Whats the chances Woody was sorting Strooman for January?

Hearing about a late push to get Guarin, should have been off to Valencia on loan but deal broke down, Real Madrid also interested apparantly.

welbeck not at arsenal no deal

Believable6 Unbelievable26

Might be something to it! They've reopened the betting on his next club.

Maybe indicates it's not done!

Agree1 Disagree2

They backtracked and said that Arsenal have said no medical has been done and there is no deal agreed. (as of yet I assume)

Agree0 Disagree0

He just joined arsenal, if you don't already know

eds, is there any interest in moutinho?
thanks.

Eds any news of a late bid for anyone even though it appears only fans think we need CB and CM reinforcements? Anyone know if the RVP rumour of an op is true?

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed004's Note - Seems the rumour is true and Blind and Falcao look like the last deals}

01 Sep 2014 17:15:13
Domino effect? Van ginkel to ac Milan, de Jong to utd?

Ed any chance?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

01 Sep 2014 19:22:04
Really hoped for vidal this window. A bit gutted we've not got him thought he was a cert at one point. But all in all a very good window. Are we to expect strootman in January?

Believable9 Unbelievable2

I think juve were trying to scrape every penny out of it and then we left it too late, it was widely reported they had to sell to spend but they seem to have bought well. Maybes there relying on going further in Europe.

Man brokering the deal for Welbeck has said that the possible fee will be from 15-18 million GBP. (BBC 5 Live)

Believable7 Unbelievable6

01 Sep 2014 19:27:29
Cheap if lallana cost £25

Agree0 Disagree0

Ssn are saying welbeck not having a medical and no deal to be done

Agree0 Disagree0

Rip off if Balotelli cost £16mill.

Don't understand why everyone seems to obsessed with what other teams pay for players!

If I was I would comment that United paid £29million more for Herrera, an uncapped 25 yr old with no premier league experience and a scoring rate of 0.07

Whereas Liverpool paid £4million less for a 26 yr old full international, with 2 years premier league experience and a scoring rate of 0.2!

But then that would be petty!

Clubs will pay what they think a player is worth, some clubs will value players differently, that's supply and demand!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've had this discussion before about scoring ratios on the LFC site. It was agreed you lot were wrong, a goal every 0.2 of a game is 5 goals per game (0.2 x 5 = 1) or a goal every 18 mins.}

Umm sorry, but that is simply about how you interpret it, I would suggest you are interpreting it differently to the majority.

A scoring rate of 0.2, I, and most others I think, would view as 0.2 goals per game. Not 0.2 games per goal.

In the same way you would count number of successful passes per game, tackles per game, shots per game or assists per game, not number of games per successful pass (although that might be best for United's midfield at the moment!)

The same system is used in Baseball (eg 0.333 hits per at bat), same in cricket (eg strike rate of 67.7), same in rugby (points per game) same in almost every sport worldwide as far as I can see.

Although that does detract from the point I was making about the relative prices of players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You didn't explain what formula you were using so there's no need to apologise for being wrong. You can't just type random thoughts or numbers and expect people to follow your train of though.
We have a baseball site if you want me to post a link up, we use the common sense system in here.}

Common sense would dictate that I meant 0.2 games per goal, not 5 goals per game, surely?

It would not be common sense to think that I meant Ander Herrera scored on average 14.29 goals per game!

However, the scoring ratio was never really my point.

I don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with what other teams pay for players. Each club values players differently. Chelsea could have taken Markovic for half of what Liverpool paid, they decided not to. Doesn't mean anything really!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Don't be a 3.14159. We use traditional British football talk which is a goals per game ratio, not some Americanised trendy nonsense you've borrowed from a game of rounders. Look at this time-stamp on the LFC site: 24 Jul 2014 11:31:24 where it was explained before.

Goals per game ratio? Like I used in my first post that you then said was wrong?

I'm now totally confused, that's exactly what I said in my first post (0.2 and 0.07) goals per game.

You said quite clearly that a 0.2 scoring ratio meant 0.2 games per goal or 5 goals per game. Which would have meant that 0.07 would be over 14 goals a game. Are you now saying that that was wrong?

Baseball, cricket, rugby, oh and football, all of these sports use the same scoring system, why are you having a go at baseball in particular? I don't understand

Is deadline day getting to you a little Ed007?

I really don't get where you are coming from apart from trying to belittle a Liverpool fan for the sole reason they are a Liverpool fan posting on the United board. Should I just stay on the Liverpool site from now on?

But then I'm sure you won't accept that you just read my original post wrong, you will either not post this response, or just be offensive again.

I really do appreciate all of the hard work that you guys put in, the sites are all great, I visit everyday (not pausing the ads at the top and keeping the volume on as I know that helps) but I just don't get it when it becomes offensive, from the users, or especially from the Eds. It's a real shame, in an otherwise exceptional operation.

Anyway, I hope you can all relax a bit after silly season guys and gals, and reflect on a job very well done!

It seems that the original point about valuation of players will not be discussed, and in that case I bid you good night!

Cheers everyone, happy international break!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I thought it would confuse you, I'd imagine it's not a difficult thing to do. How can anyone score 0.2 of a goal it's not difficult is it? Normal people would say he's scored 2 goals in 10 games or he's averaging a goal every 3 games, not he has scoring rate of 0.2, if anything it reads he hasn't scored in 2 matches as in 0 and 2. Do you want to talk about batting averages?}

Reddawn,

At what point has bond been offensive? Because he tried to explain that what you were saying makes no sense? You need to strap a pair on.

Just a question to everyone, Do you see the loan of Falcao as a sort of one year bedding in period with RVP leaving after this season as then teams would know we are desperate for a top striker then and there isn't many around . So loaning Falcao for a year with the option to buy means we have a ready made replacement. I have just got to say although I am not chuffed about no Vidal or Carvalho etc. We have Falcao and Di Maria! Which Man United fan expected that!

Believable14 Unbelievable0

Falcao medical underway at Harrington.

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Bloody predictive text. Carrington!

Agree0 Disagree1

Did he take the wrong turn?

Agree0 Disagree1

Can not believe we have got Falcao. I've had city, Liverpool and evan Everton fans saying "we can't get top players, because of no champions league". Well look at what we have done. Bigger and better signing than all these teams put together. The lure of United.

Welbeck Medical at Arsenal.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

01 Sep 2014 18:27:45
Sky sports: Welbeck having arsenal medical. Why are we strengthening a top 4 rival?!

Believable10 Unbelievable5

01 Sep 2014 18:52:28
Strategically weakening them you mean.
Or perhaps to take points from other top 4 rivals?

Agree0 Disagree1

Ridiculous to sell him to arsenal. he has his haters but i'm certainly not one of them. really like him as a player. falcao wil soften the blow though :-)

Agree0 Disagree1

This makes no sense, firstly Arsenal refuse to sell Vermaelen to us because we are a rival team, then we accept Arsenals bid to take him to the Emirates. I feel this May bite us back if we fail to make top 4 because of his contribution or worse if he scores against us in a game arsenal beat us in.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why are you man united fans so superior, you signed mata from a rival . Besides I can't see wellbeck and Fellani from rivals

Agree0 Disagree1

Im not in favour of this move really. It would be upsetting to see him turn into a genuine Arsenal star, in the 30%~ish chance he does become world class.

We should have sold him to Everton, Tottenham or QPR/Newcastle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Atleast they didn't get Falcao.

Falcao just landed at MAN airport . fact not rumour.

Not sure if he is on his own or another Monaco player is with him. Guessl we'll all know in the next 30 mins.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

I wondered the same as we have been linked with Moutinho also from Monaco and has mendes as his agent

Agree0 Disagree1

Moutinho is another number 10, do we really need another?

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Sep 2014 17:38:15
Falcao will land at MAN airport at 17.57 in a very nice Cessna 525A CitationJet CJ2+. Will, as usual, be routed through the private jet terminal.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Seen it fly over my house.

Ed,

Any truth that we've made enquiries on morgan schneiderlin?

Cheers

Believable4 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware Dave.}

01 Sep 2014 14:49:51
I hope we have. I would take him all day long. Doubt Southampton would want to lose another player though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Southampton have said many times they don't want to lose him. Love if he came to us but can't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers ed,

Do you suspect that's our incoming transfers done?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes Dave.}

01 Sep 2014 14:04:53
Express reporting that mendes offered us moutinho aswell. I don't know how reliable the express is but wouldn't suprise me if we sign him with mendes as his agent.

Believable15 Unbelievable12

He would be a brilliant addition. just the kind of player to sit deep and distribute the ball.

Leicester want Lawrence on permanent deal and Powell on loan.

MU have accepted a £3.75m off from QPR for Will Keane.

Burnley want Anderson.

Cleverley is Villa bound.

Welbeck Spurs bound.

Any other deals in the pipeline please post.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Tom Lawrence permanent to Leicester and Nick Powell Loan to Leicester

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 14:21:09
Everton had 8m bid turned down

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson will go back to Portugal before Burnley. Burnley wouldn't be able to afford his wages for a start.
Villa cannot sign Cleverley until he lowers his wages demands, they have pretty much pulled out

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 13:55:25
Odds of Shawcross coming back to Man Utd have been slashed, year in, year out. One of the premier leagues best defensive performers. I'd love to see him back, hard as nails.

Couldn't agree more decent player could be a. cheaper option could try a cheeky bid plus one of ours on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's see what happens throughout the deadline day, it's going to be mental.

Stu

Send Jones the other way on loan. Hopefully he will come back with a bit more composure, positional sense and Botox to stop the gurning.

Richards is off to Fiorentina? Does that mean Cuadrado could be on his way out?

Ed002 is there any update on Cuadrado?

Believable1 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Neither Barcelona nor Chelsea were interested in an auction - he will have to stay.}

01 Sep 2014 11:00:49
Hi Ed002
Has there been any interest in Veratti of PSG, from Us or elsewhere personally I think he has the potential to be one of the best playmakers in the modern game?

Thanks as always, and it looks like you bang on about a striker coming in.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - From elsewhere yes, but he will be signing an new contract today.]

01 Sep 2014 11:14:18
He is a class act and would have been a great signing he can dictate the tempo of a game and will only get even better
Thanks for the info PSG have a diamond on their hands with him IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't bother with auctions either. We just Godfather our deals and "make them an offer they can't refuse".

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 10:44:08
we need to build a midfield first carvalho vidal don't understand the starting from the front is he going to change his system hope so its boring

Believable0 Unbelievable5

I imagine the midfield and back is also being worked on.it is just out there as it would be such a big signing
Also, the sort of signing that would encourage other players to come.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if RvP needs surgery this makes sense. And seeing Chicha leave too and it seems Welbeck may be off to Spurs for a loan it makes total sense.

However, we do also need the centre backs we've all been craving and a CDM.

CBs no idea but Carvalho is an option

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 10:16:18
Guillem Balague is saying deal agreed for Falcao at €65m. Four year deal. But I think it may be a loan with option to buy. That will mean Van Persie will go straight in and have his operation.

Believable21 Unbelievable5

Yes it's a loan. Good old Mendes :)

Agree1 Disagree0

If this comes off it will really add a new dimension to the team. he worked hard in the athletico team and hopefully bring out the best in Rooney.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Sep 2014 12:47:49
Thats great news all we need is another cb n cm!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a loan for the first year with the purchase on a 4 year deal the year after.
Excellent bit of business. x2 WORLD CLASS players within a week!
Who said we cannot attract the better players.
Honestly on paper, with everyone fit, we have a frightening team. This is why I laugh when people mock us as we haven't played our best 11, not even close. LVG doesn't even know what his starting eleven is as the injuries keep coming.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watch Rooney drop to CM now

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 08:55:56
Ed002 if you are about you heard anything of the Falcao to United? He does appear perfect for United in as much as he's not a Midfielder or defender.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Last Wednesday in Monaco the club put a price on Falcao for a sale - with the expectation that Real Madrid (where he wishes to move to) would pay it. Their concern is that at his age the asking price is far too high. There were also discussions with Juventus and with Valencia. Since then there have been approaches made to the English clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City. The situation as I understand it this morning is that:
- Chelsea saw him as too expensive at his age and went for Remy as their first choice is not available.
- Arsenal considered his age, his price, the possibility of a loan price and his wages and whilst they would like the player, seem to be trying to tie up the permanent transfer of Carlos Bacca instead (they will need to up the offer they made - but they might be doing that with others today as well).
- Manchester City would not be interested in buying him at the offered price but would consider a loan to buy - but there is a major concern over his knee and they want a clause which will drastically reduce his wages and the loan fee should it turn out to be a problem.
- Manchester United are interested but again the price and wages are an issue. On Wednesday Manchester United used a third party in discussions and I understand that third party was again involved last night min trying to broker a deal that might be acceptable. If the club want a deal done they will likely need to concede most of the financial negotiations.}

Should we do the whole squad number conspiracy theory thing again. Falcao, Monaco #9. We seem to have a vacant #9 slot.

Too expensive for United. I'd prefer Huntelaar or Benteke and spend the extra on a CM and a CB!

Agree1 Disagree4

Great buy if we get him will tear up the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Season-long loan deal with option to buy I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's done! Only a loan move but a fair coup for United in my eyes!

Agree0 Disagree0

Some reports refer to loan move with £12 million fee and £200k per week, with an option for a permanent move. Others refer to 65m Euro 4 year deal with salary higher than Rooney!

You pays your money and takes your choice! Just so long as we get him!

Agree1 Disagree0

Without doubt the best transfer window ever!

Agree2 Disagree0

Sky reporting just £5m-£6m loan fee.

Agree1 Disagree0

There has been plenty of focus on our attacking transfers and some exemplary business has already been done but it's been discussed to death but when will we sign a pedigree defensive minded midfielder with pace? I honestly think Ed Woodward has shown a major improvement however we need one last push. Eds are we any closer than previously discussed?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that I could guarantee a "pedigree defensive minded midfielder with pace" - if you are thinking Strootman then pehaps January would be better.}

31 Aug 2014 21:34:19
Hi Ed

Is it true MU have lost out to Arsenal on Carvalho?

Thanks

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - There is no completed deal for Carvalho at this time.}

31 Aug 2014 20:27:27
Good evening ed

You have stated that United will be looking to do more business tomorrow and they are looking to but a DM player. With it looking likely that Henandez and welbeck are surplus to requirements, do u believe we will look to another striker or promote some of the youth (Wilson)

Regards
Steve

Believable8 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Do not be surprised if a striker arrives.}
